Came to get some Taiwanese food. Restaurant a bit hidden but can't miss it from the street. Came when first opened at 11am and not very crowded. Ordered the Taiwanese sausage combo, along with pork rice. I think the flavor was just ok. Taiwanese sausage lacking a bit of the freshness and flavor. The pork rice was a bit too much pork skin. I think it's ok to try it out. But with so many Chinese and Taiwanese food choices around, this one doesn't really stand out.

This place screams comfort food like no other. Delicious Taiwanese food that offers incredible value. For two people, we opted for an entree + an appetizer for lunch. If you're looking for a heartier meal, the special combo for 2 will leave you feeling full to the brim! Red Bean Curd Pork with Rice (5/5) - ~$18 Taste: Pork was well marinated and flavourful. Tofu and cauliflower dishes were simple and comforting as well. Portion Size: Large entree portion Deep Fried Tofu (4/5) - $7.50 Taste: Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and was served toasty warm. Was delicious with the savoury dipping sauce. Portion Size: Good sharing portion for 3-4 people [Value for Money] Even with recent rise in menu prices - the value here can't be beat! Really worth it!

A hidden gem located at Crystal Mall, they are across from the library and quite unnoticeable. Don't let this unassuming place fool you, they serve up some authentic Taiwanese dishes. It feels very homey and cozy, the older lady who I believe is the owner is friendly and truly cares if you like the food or not. I ordered the sesame oil chicken noodle soup, and it's so delicious. Chicken is perfectly seasoned and not too salty, broth is very rich but not overpowered by the sesame oil. Noodle is thin and smooth like angel hair, and topped with the sweetness of cabbage, red date and goji berries. The ginger pieces are not the old chewy ginger as well, so I was able to eat them all without much spicy heat from it. It's probably one of the tastiest sesame oil chicken noodle soup I've had in town. The meal comes with a complimentary red tea or soup, a full lovely meal comes under $20. If you're going to Crystal mall next time, ditch the food court and head to Aroma Eatery.

My work colleague and I had such a fabulous lunch here last week! I was in town to help her at an event, and we decided to meet at a restaurant close to my hotel. She chose Aroma Eatery, which was practically right outside of the door of the Hilton, where I was staying. Yay! Although this was close to my hotel, it was still difficult to find because it's part of an indoor/outdoor shopping center, the Crystal Mall. I had to look at pics on Yelp for clues, and finally found it after wandering around aimlessly for about 10 minutes. Pro tip: Aroma is actually on the outside edge of the mall, rather than on the inside or the interior courtyard. If you're standing on the street outside, facing the parking garage entry, the restaurant is on your right - behind a mailbox and a wood bench. Other than that, the experience was fabulous! The place was full, but we were seated quickly. We ordered their "lunch for 2" special, which had enough food for at least 3-4 people! I was sad that I couldn't take leftovers with me, as it was all so good. I especially enjoyed the salt & pepper chicken, which was perfectly seasoned and fried to crispy wonderfulness. The service here was fast and friendly, and the prices were incredibly reasonable. I highly recommend this spot, and will definitely go back when I'm in the area again.

Definitely a hidden gem!! It is located right outside Crystal mall in Metrotown, a little hard to find it. The space inside is not too big so wouldn't recommend for a big group size. Their food is so good and affordable! We got their lunch combo which came with rice, soup or drink, crispy tofu and choice of two items. We got their salt pepper chicken and kimchi beef. Everything was a 5/5!! Their crispy tofu came with a dipping sauce which was amazing and the kimchi beef had an amazing flavour!! The portions were huge, we could not finish it and had to take it to go. The staff were super sweet and warm. When I asked for to-go boxes, they were kind to put the remaining food in the boxes themselves. Overall great service! Would definitely visit again :)

Cozy little Taiwanese restaurant at Crystal Mall. Welcoming and friendly service from Helen makes this place so pleasant to visit. Food is tasty with a number of dishes that can be ordered individually or as part of a set meal. We ordered the pork bulgogi, sweet & sour fish, and salt & pepper chicken and Taiwanese sausage along with white rice. The fish dish was delicious and the rest of the dishes hit the spot. We also tried the tea (hong cha) which is wonderful! Pricing is reasonable and looking forward to returning here again!

Probably rounds closer to 2.5 / 5, but this place looked like one thing, then turned out to be another. I saw all of these great reviews online but the actual experience was... Kind of depressing? As my partner put it: this place looks like a retirement home cafeteria. Or a really depressing school cafeteria. Verdict: don't bother with this place. The ratings and pictures may hype it up, but it's... Not what you would expect it to be Even the lunch plates looked... Old. It didn't help that the taste if the food was... Meh. The soup wasn't great, the portion sizes were meh... The tofu in the combo was ok, as were the veggies... But the meats were bland and without any semblance of flavour. Extremely overpriced for what you actually get... I'm glad I didn't get the $35 combo, since the stuff in the A section is "better" than the B section... And my partner and I both ordered from the "A" Section. It's not good. Tbh not taking credit was the cherry on top (cash or debit only). Luckily I carry cash otherwise this would have been hella awks. The service was ok, but tbh it wasn't "standout. It's two people doing all of the serving and cleaning, and there's roughly 8-10 tables that can seat between 16 and 20 people.

    Teriyaki chicken fried rice

I came here for dinner with my partner. We got three dishes and also complementary miso soup and black tea (you get a choice between the two)! The salt and pepper chicken we got was really good! Just as I was expecting with this Taiwanese dish--crispy, meaty, and delicious! A crispy wonder for my soft mouth. The teriyaki fried rice wasn't what I was expecting, but maybe it exceeded expectations! It was teriyaki chicken served on the side with fried rice with egg and edamame. I loved that it was served on the side so the chicken could stay crispy! The chicken was really flavourful and the teriyaki sauce complemented the saltiness amazingly. The fried rice was just as flavourful. My partner kept commenting on the wok hei! So delicious. Our last dish was the sesame oil chicken soup. I didn't like this as much but it was still really good! Tasted like a soup I'd really enjoy while recovering from a cold. My partner had the miso soup as I don't like miso soup. She said it was good! I noticed lots of little tofu pieces in there as well. The black tea was also really good! It was like a bubble tea without the pearls--it's cold and sweetened with brown sugar. Our one server was running around almost the entire time we were eating! Good service, but don't expect to be attended to closely. It's cold in the restaurant so dress warmly in the fall/winter. Small space with only a few tables.

Not very authentic TW but still good nonetheless, and it does stand out, being the only TW eatery in Crystal Mall. Price is fair and service on par.

My partner and I had the two person combo. We went with Pineapple Shrimp and Kung Pao Chicken. I'm not a big seafood person but the pineapple shrimp was delicious! The Kung Pao chicken however was the star of the meal for me, the chicken was moist and the sauce was amazing. The restaurant was quiet right at the opening and service was fast and polite. The combo was one of the best food deals I've seen recently and I'll be returning for sure.

I have been wanting to try this place after I saw several good reviews from fellow yelpers. It did not disappoint. We decided to get the combo for 2. It came with two entrees, vegs, and fried tofu for the dishes, plus rice and iced black tea for two. We ordered Kung pao beef and the salt and pepper popcorn chicken. They were yummy but I really liked the simple stir fry vegetables. There was a sweetness to them. This reminded me of what my grandma used to cook. The whole combo was like a home style cooking and they were made to order. If you do not wish to cook and want a simple homely meal, look no further. This place got you covered. I will be back to try the beef noodle soup and other dishes. It is comfort food to me.

Looks like Perfect Taste died off and turned into Aroma. This restaurant is located at the SE corner of the mall exterior, facing the street. Parking is available in the circular lot underground. Staff were friendly. No complaints. Looks like mom and pop. They have decent rice combos. Friend and I tried the 2 person combo, which is basically the same thing as 2 combos but with a slight discount. For drinks they have sweet black tea. There is something else in the tea (dates?). Nice and refreshing. Salty peppery chicken - got the deep fried leaves and all those goodies. Fried tofu - nice and fluffy. Served with dipping sauce. Satay stir-fried beef - nice and moist. Also nice and oily but not crazy excessive. Beautiful. Had a nice kick to it. Seasonal vegetables - stir fried cabbage in sauce. Tasty. Friend and I were pretty happy. I would come back. Pricing was reasonable too. Recommended.

First time here, saw the good rating and been craving some food from back home so decided to give them a try Owner recommended the 2 people meal $37.99, but was unable to explain why it's more expensive than 2 separate meals $17.99x2, luckily the table beside us ordered the 2 people meal and we saw side dishes were bigger portions with better veggies Taste 1/1* Authentic Taiwanese food, make sure to get the red tea NOT SOUP if your getting the combo! Salt and pepper chicken was slightly on the salty side for me, but wife absolutely loved it Pork chop combo was gooood, hit the spot Beef stew combo was goooood too!! Wife didn't enjoy it as much, so we ended up packing it to go, still tasted good day later! All of the side dishes were tasty with rice too! Value 0.5/1* Wouldn't call it budget eat, but for the taste is definitely worth a visit or two Service 1/1* As prompt as it can be, there were about 7 tables with 1 owner/server running frantically, but she was polite, friendly and we got everything in a timely manner Cleanliness 0.5/1* Typical Chinese restaurant style, where you can see some dirty spots on the walls and washroom, but tables were good Overall/Revisit 1/1* Would definitely revisit to try other dishes Paying for ambience? NO Above and beyond? 0/+1*

Peking Duck course was fantastic. Food was more than enough for 4 people. Duck lettuce wrap was fantastic we couldn't finish all of it. Hot and Sour Soup was rather sour than spicy. It was not the best, but tasted alright though. My parents would've liked the soup to be a bit spicy. Sliced pork with garlic was good. Deluxe Fried Rice was fresh and tasty. Staff was helpful bringing water and more Hoisin sauce. Food was pretty good. We ended up taking some leftovers home. It was a wonderful dining experience at Chongqing!

The place used to be a fried chicken (fast food) joint way back, so the seating area is actually not that large. Most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. Staff are friendly and professional. The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
