Hadn't been to this restaurant in ages. Couldn't even remember the last time I'd been here. It was definitely prepandemic. We used to love coming here for the Taiwanese Chicken Nugget Fried Rice dish, and their incredibly tall slush drinks. Came here for a family dinner. We ordered that same fried rice dish, several noodle dishes, some appetizers, a sweet and sour fish, a passionfruit slush and a hot grass jelly. Honestly, the meal was a bit disappointing. The noodle dishes were all very similar. Same type of noodle and sauce used for each one. They just switched out the toppings but basically the noodle dishes tasted very similar to each other. I was very disappointed in the Vegetable Fried Noodle dish. The just put some bok choy into the noodle and I was really hoping for a wider variety of vegetables to be used in this dish. They didn't even put very much of the bok choy in, so it was a very carbohydrate heavy noodle dish. My husband said that he had tried better fried squid and taiwanese chicken nuggets at a different restaurant recently, so the ones they served here at The One were less than stellar. The Passionfruit slush would be the redeeming item for this meal. I think we might only ever come to this restaurant for dessert from now on.

Went in with a group of 12 last night and luckily we were able to get a large table. This restaurant has an extensive menu and the prices are affordable and large portions as well. We ordered multiple dishes to share family style. My favourite dishes were the Taiwanese chicken nuggets, Taiwanese sausage and the fried rice with both items, and the beef pancake rolls. I also got a drink, I got the green milk tea with grass jelly which was pretty good but so filling. My friends got the slush and it was huge! Overall, it came to $27 per person for alot of food and we had a great time.

Great portion sizes, and very well priced. I had enough to take home for a small snack the following day. Food was slow to come out when I went, but when followed up, it was made quite quickly.

Good price, big portion, friendly staff, and awesome place. I like the ambience, it's just like in Yakuza games.

Came here with a group of friends late at night and it was very busy! We had a great time sharing various food and desserts. They have giant slushies here and they were yummy!! I enjoyed my tofu dessert with taro. Very smooth and not too sweet. I like how they have big portions here and food came fairly fast.

One big ONE... It has been quite awhile since I was last here . I believe most people come here for one reason and one reason only.... BIG portions and MASSIVE BBT slushes. BUT they were one of the first to do it and did it quite well back then. This place is conveniently located in the little plaza on Kingsway and Buller Ave in Burnaby. There is free parking in the plaza or street parking is available too. Inside is quite spacious with both tables and booth seats, a very 90's BBT cafe vibe and look. Here were the food I ordered; 1. Logan ginger tea. A very weak logan ginger taste, didn't go too well with my taste buds. 2. Peanut almond black tea added grass jelly. Huge size as always and it was okay. 3. Deep fried fish cakes. They were big slices and generous portions but I preferred the thinner sliced ones because I find it tastier when the light crisp outside and the tenderness of the inside are more balanced. 4. Wonton soup. Taiwanese style, it was okay. I personally prefer the Cantonese version more. 5. Hawaiian fried rice. It was of generous portion, the pineapples were fresh and sweet but it's missing that "wok hay". Overall, this is a popular younger crowd hang out for their well known large portions of both drinks and food. If you prefer quantity over quality and affordable eat out then this casual place will most likely suit you. The service here was okay, quite friendly and prompt. Nothing to boast or complain about. The food like I said were of large shareable portions. Taste wise, everything was okay except for the ginger drink. Nevertheless, every dishes here were one BIG ONE...

This place is pretty top tier in terms of quality and taste. Ordered the infamous salty peppery chicken nugget set. Chicken was perfectly cooked and season as expected. If you haven't had Taiwanese style chicken nuggets, you're missing out on life! Side dishes were just ok but I can't expect much since they're just sides. Ordered the honey milk tea with grass jelly and I'd say they do it just the way I like it. You can really taste that honey throughout the milk tea. Looking back as previous reviews regarding service, I can tell they've improved a lot on that front. Our server checked on us a couple times and was very friendly. This on a Friday night btw. It's definitely one of my top go to places for salty peppery chicken nuggets and honey milk tea. Would have given it 5 stars but you can get the same thing at bubble world for about $5 less.

I used to love the chicken nuggets and fried rice, but this is bow my go to. Inflation is crazy, so this is still a super yummy alternative and I may actually like it better. Crispy and little chewy chicken skin and rice. So simple. You have the best part of fried chicken, no buffer :) That with My sky high pineapple coconut slush is amazing. I do have to say though, not too impressed that they charge for hot sauce, a bag, a take out container..Basically ally everything. But I guess at this moment , it balances out the food for now

It's a good place for family shared meal. The portions are big and the AC is really good. Yes, we came during the heat wave for the AC. They have quite a big menu. It took us some time to decide what we want to eat. We ordered the Taiwanese chicken nuggets fried rice and the dish came out in 5 mins! Their meal service is faster than McDonald's. The food is not bad and we couldn't finish among the two of us.

Comfort food and large portions. We had the sliced beef in pancake. It was crisp on the outside, but a bit too doughy on the inside. Deep fried chicken nugget fried rice was something that was ordered at almost every table around us. It's a pretty large portion. I think I'd prefer to have the chicken nuggets on the side so it stays more crisp rather than mixed into the fried rice. Maybe this is something I can ask about next time. This was the first time I've ordered the beef noodle soup from here and was pleasantly surprised. The broth had a good savoury flavour, plenty of noodles (I mean a lot cause it looked like I barely made a dent in it when I was full..), and tender pieces of beef. I'd happily order this again when I'm craving some noodle soup. Overall, portions are good and service is pretty quick. Although it can get pretty busy here.

This is the place to go in Burnaby when in your craving a big portion of good Taiwanese food. Might be on the little saltier side for some dishes as they don't spare their MSG for sure but that's what makes it delicious! Not a bad price for the portion sizes and they don't do any delivery apps or advertising. The thing I always come back for is their slushes - shareable between two or three people and the pearls are actually pretty good.

I had a lot of fun with my friend at The one restaurant. It was both of our first time and we enjoyed trying as many of the appetizers as we could. We also got the tall matcha slush to share between us and it was more than enough. The prices are reasonable because you can share everything with lots of people. Lots of food on all the dishes too. My favourite was the sea food noodles which the waiter recommended, while my friend really liked the squid tentacles the most. But In the end we had no food left, we were in comfort food heaven. The atmosphere is really easy going, with lots of young people hanging out with friends. I enjoyed it a lot and would definitely come again. Why it's only 4 stars: - I wish the menu was more clear about what the food was, maybe with pictures? - our water cups were dirty so we had to clean them before drinking. But honestly I really had a great time and ate every last bite. Comfort food heaven for sure! I'll be back! Also all the staff were so kind and helpful to explain the menu. Which I thought was awesome.

Came here with my siblings because we heard the recipe for their Taiwanese beef noodle was the same as Lao Shang Dong (which recently closed down). I was a bit disappointed because the beef shank was pretty dry, the broth was "thin" and lacked the beefy flavour I was looking for, and the texture of the noodles was just OK. Can't really go wrong with the fried chicken, so I'm glad we got this. The kimchi fried rice was just OK -- which there were more kimchi pieces... If anyone has any recommendations for Taiwanese beef noodle soup PLEASE let me know! The search continues....

The beef was nice and tender, and the noodles had a satisfying chew. It also came with a marinated egg, which was nice. The combo included a refreshing iced jasmine tea (not sweet btw, if that's your thing!), and at $14.99 for the whole meal, the price was quite reasonable. The only downside was that our drinks took a while to arrive, and the wheat germ milk tea my sister ordered was just "not it." The texture of the pearls didn't meet our expectations, and the tea flavor was lacking. I would probably come back for the noodle soup, but I'd skip the bubble tea next time.

They have an electronic waitlist system now - sign up on the screen inside. The menu was massive last time i was here, now its even bigger its kind of ridiculous. You are bound to find something you like. Food is consistent. All good, nothing blowing your mind but very solid. Their prices seemed to have gone up but their portions are enormous. A meal combo is too much food for one person. This time we ordered: mixed beef dry noodle - has a sichuan peppercorn spicy sauce with beef shank/tripe/tendon, side of soup with fish/meatballs and some veg. Solid 4/5 for both. beef hotpot - comes served on a little fuel burner with a side of scallion oil noodles and 2 veg sides. Also solid 4/5. A ton of food. TW popcorn chicken (salt pepper fried chicken) - good. well seasoned, juicy thigh chunks. Hot + sour soup - this was mediocre. lacking any depth of flavour. Not terrible, but nothing special. pea flower lemon passionfruit tea drink - average. This amount of food will easily feed 4. Our party of 2 took a lot home. Total bill with tax and tip was just under $100. note: credit card has a 2% surcharge. Service was just right for a place like this. They promptly took your order and brought you tea. Easy to flag them down but they didnt approach you beyond that. Everyone was nice. I would definitely keep coming back. Its an excellent casual "jack of all trades" Chinese/Taiwanese place.

Extremely busy when we went for early dinner on a Sunday. Food: We got 2 appetizers and 2 noodles. For us, we enjoyed mostly everything but the biggest let down was the broth in our beef noodle soup. It seemed a little bland and missing the depth of flavor I expected. The noodles, toppings, and appetizers were all great. Portions were very large. I do wish the pig ears were ~30% less oily but that can be personal opinion/taste. Service/Ambiance: I would not call this a high class place, expect fast and direct service. The staff also does not have great english but can get by as the menu has numbers (ex. A1, A2, etc.). Price: Prices for things felt a little high but can pass since the portions were quite large. My beef noodle was $20 and the pig ears were $17. Takeout containers was an additional 50 cents and there was a 2% fee on credit transactions Misc: The menu is HUGE, I mean over 100+ items. This can be a pro or a con, lots of variety but I based on our experience with the broth I'm wondering if anything really stands out

We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close. Sure it's fine no big deal, it was a lot of food.
