The menu is super extensively long. This is a Taiwanese restaurant in the Royal Oak area. They are never super busy. I ordered the popcorn chicken combo with rice. They have lunch combos for $13 which is super good price. However, their food was very mediocre. It tasted like home cooking. Nothing special. I was also surprised for a Taiwanese restaurant, they have super limited amount of sauces. B ordered the Korean beef combo. It tasted like they used instant sauces that you can get from T&T to marinate their meat. Portion size was ok. Service was ok. The restaurant interior looks very average. Not a place you would take someone on a date. There are plenty of free street parking in the area. Note that this place only accepts cash and debit card.

They serve very no frills chinese/taiwanese versions of korean food. However, even with no frills, their prices aren't that low and almost comparable to korean restaurants. We ordered the kimchi hot pot and the budae hot pot. Both didnt have much to offer. It was not korean flavor at all but tasty in its own way. However, there werent much toppings for something around $15-17. To compare, the price of boiling point is $17. The taiwanese chicken nugget was fried well and I like the light crispiness. However, there was really no flavor at all.

It's not something I would drive out of my way to go to, but its a great little mom and pop shop that serves a collection of taiwanese/korean favourites that are done competently, at a good budget and with good portions. It isn't fancy but I appreciate all that they do at the price they do it at. Service was A+ too.

It was a nice day to go for a walk and grab some takeouts. This Taiwanese restaurant is just around the corner of where Stem Japanese Eatery is. I learned about this place from a Facebook group post. They have "mini" Taiwanese bento for $7.50 each. I think the size is pretty decent size to be honest and they have vegetarian options too. It's perfect to just grab a bowl and picnic at the park around the corner too. We ordered the Taiwanese popcorn chicken and their pork bento. We didn't order any train bento while we were in Taiwan last year due to COVID maybe the next time we go back we can actually enjoy food on their train. Their door is locked so you will need to knock to enter and the bento menu is at the cashier table not on the main menu.

Decent little Taiwanese / Korean style neighborhood restaurant. It's not the best Taiwanese food I've ever had, but the prices are very affordable and you will be full. I had the seafood hotpot with bean noodles. You get 3 slices of pork, 2 shrimp, 2 squid rings and mostly tofu, napa cabbage, bean noodles and a bowl of white rice. Mostly carbs, but I didn't mind it since that's what I felt like. Cash or debit.

    Vegetarian rice tube pudding

I visited for dinner on a Saturday evening and there was no one else dining in. I guess most of their business is take-out? They have a huge vegetarian menu, with all sorts of different appetizers, deep fried snacks, hot pots, and combo meals--all vegetarian (not necessarily all vegan, as some dishes have egg, so check). I ordered the vegetarian rice tube pudding ($8.75 plus tax) and the vegetarian spicy hot pot ($17.45 plus tax), which I asked for to be "very spicy". That was too much food, but I was hungry. The rice tube pudding came out in under 10 minutes. If you've not had this dish before, it's sort of like the sticky rice you get for dim sum. This version came with marinated shiitake mushrooms, taro (I think), some fake meat of some sort, and drizzled with a sweet and very salty sauce. Pretty solid dish, especially with the mushrooms and taro. Nothing all that tantalizing flavour-wise, but I enjoyed it. 3.5/5 The hot pot was spicier than anything I've had in years, which is I guess my fault for asking for it "very spicy"--though I figured it'd be like most places that water it down for the Western palate--not here! Massive portion with all sorts of tofu, bok choy, cabbage and enoki mushrooms. The spiciness came in the way of copious chilis and chili oil, making for an extremely oily broth. I was sweating profusely and coughing frequently due to the spice, but I did enjoy the heat, I must say. The flavour depth was not all that impressive though. It was adequately salty and pant-shittingly spicy, but really not that flavourful. You get some plain noodles on the side with some more chili oil for dipping I guess -- pretty bland way to serve noodles. All in all, this was solid, but a bit underwhelming flavour-wise and overwhelming spiciness-wise. 3/5 Overall, solid food, but I think I just don't enjoy Taiwanese cuisine enough to return -- I'd rather the richer flavours from Cantonese and especially Szechuan cuisine.

I would give 3.5 stars to this Korean/Taiwanese restaurant. Talk about what I like the most about this restaurant first and the least favourite things the last. Service - excellent! The Taiwanese servers took good care of the orders and customers' needs. Pricing - reasonable pricing for bigger portion of the food. Minimum order is $3.50 per person. It is a little bit cheaper than other Korean/Taiwanese restaurants. Food - there are a lot of varieties on the menu. The most popular dishes are their hot pots. My friends and I ordered seafood fish hot pot, seafood udon pot and seafood kimchi pot for dinner. All the of them were good. We just waited for a long time for the food. We realized that customers at other tables were the same who had been waiting for a long time for their food as well. Perhaps the chefs needed to put a lot of time and effort to prepare and cook the food in the kitchen?? Ambiance - family type of atmosphere. The interior design is not fancy at all or there is no renovation inside. It looks a bit old inside overall. Location - further away from Kingsway and not a lot of people know about this place. They might want to do some advertisements online and offline (my recommendations). It's ok to go back for meals. That's my conclusion.

Very slow service and food is not great. However looking forward to see it improve. Great service tho!

Slow service and food is not good at all. So lose money and time, but service is good. Vibe is homely, and quiet if you want to hang out here.

It's more like Taiwanese restaurant. Average taste. However, lots vegetarian items. Bubble tea tastes too light in tea taste and milk taste. In terms of its too diluted.

The beef was nice and tender, and the noodles had a satisfying chew. It also came with a marinated egg, which was nice. The combo included a refreshing iced jasmine tea (not sweet btw, if that's your thing!), and at $14.99 for the whole meal, the price was quite reasonable. The only downside was that our drinks took a while to arrive, and the wheat germ milk tea my sister ordered was just "not it." The texture of the pearls didn't meet our expectations, and the tea flavor was lacking. I would probably come back for the noodle soup, but I'd skip the bubble tea next time.

They have an electronic waitlist system now - sign up on the screen inside. The menu was massive last time i was here, now its even bigger its kind of ridiculous. You are bound to find something you like. Food is consistent. All good, nothing blowing your mind but very solid. Their prices seemed to have gone up but their portions are enormous. A meal combo is too much food for one person. This time we ordered: mixed beef dry noodle - has a sichuan peppercorn spicy sauce with beef shank/tripe/tendon, side of soup with fish/meatballs and some veg. Solid 4/5 for both. beef hotpot - comes served on a little fuel burner with a side of scallion oil noodles and 2 veg sides. Also solid 4/5. A ton of food. TW popcorn chicken (salt pepper fried chicken) - good. well seasoned, juicy thigh chunks. Hot + sour soup - this was mediocre. lacking any depth of flavour. Not terrible, but nothing special. pea flower lemon passionfruit tea drink - average. This amount of food will easily feed 4. Our party of 2 took a lot home. Total bill with tax and tip was just under $100. note: credit card has a 2% surcharge. Service was just right for a place like this. They promptly took your order and brought you tea. Easy to flag them down but they didnt approach you beyond that. Everyone was nice. I would definitely keep coming back. Its an excellent casual "jack of all trades" Chinese/Taiwanese place.

Extremely busy when we went for early dinner on a Sunday. Food: We got 2 appetizers and 2 noodles. For us, we enjoyed mostly everything but the biggest let down was the broth in our beef noodle soup. It seemed a little bland and missing the depth of flavor I expected. The noodles, toppings, and appetizers were all great. Portions were very large. I do wish the pig ears were ~30% less oily but that can be personal opinion/taste. Service/Ambiance: I would not call this a high class place, expect fast and direct service. The staff also does not have great english but can get by as the menu has numbers (ex. A1, A2, etc.). Price: Prices for things felt a little high but can pass since the portions were quite large. My beef noodle was $20 and the pig ears were $17. Takeout containers was an additional 50 cents and there was a 2% fee on credit transactions Misc: The menu is HUGE, I mean over 100+ items. This can be a pro or a con, lots of variety but I based on our experience with the broth I'm wondering if anything really stands out

What's appealing here is that their Instagram advertises daily specials so you can get some dishes for a great discount (like 40% off). We tried the braised combo (pork ear, pork intestines, fish cake), Taiwanese egg wrap, braised pork sauce rice with deep fried pork chop, and yam taro mochi balls. The braised combo is pretty solid - I didn't really like the funkiness to the intestines (I generally enjoyed it in barbecue settings) but the fish cake was fantastic. I also liked the texture of the pork ears. The Taiwanese egg wrap was a bit tasteless, so I wouldn't recommend. Braised pork sauce rice is the lu ruo fan which is a large portion with seaweed, bean sprouts, and soup on the side. Pork chop was flavorful and juicy but not crispy batter, which is okay. Yam taro mochi balls were sweet and chewy. I don't like taro but I loved this dessert! Service is okay. They give a water jug for self pour but the water jug was of questionable cleanliness. The specials were not discounted so we called it out and we weren't told that we had to put the order with a server, not the QR code, so it was a strange interaction. They ended up honoring the discount. Also, they shut down ordering 1 min before 10:30pm - guess they didn't want more money as we wanted to order 1 more dish and they preemptively told the kitchen to close.
