    Spicy beef soup
    Lara O.

I decided to bookmark this spot after seeing the line ups of people waiting to get in. Not disappointed! My date and I shared the spicy beef soup, and the house chicken and rice. Apart from waiting for a table, service was fast no frills (which I like :) lots of free tea. The food was so flavorful and delicious! This place is a very good deal, we were stuffed and left with leftovers for under 20$. I'm sure I will regular this place, as well as call in and pick up orders which I saw a lot of people doing!

Escargot Rice Noodles with Beef - Mild 牛肉螺絲粉-小辣 ($9.98)
    Tracy W.

I am not a big fan of spicy food but I love this place! Their menu option is kinda limited, especially if you are vegetarian (only 1 noodle options and a couple appetizers). I went for a mild Escargot Rice Noodles with Beef (牛肉螺螄粉) and the spiciness is perfect for someone who can't handle too much spice. My friend who loves spicy food didn't find the extra-hot spicy at all though. They are really generous on the meat and the toppings (escargot, seaweed, green bean, bean curd, bamboo shoot and peanuts). One thing to mention is that t pig intestines are tender and has the perfect texture (highly recommend if you are into it). Their Cold Marinated Seaweed Appetizer was slightly sour but I love this combination with chilli. Their signature milk tea (酒酿奶茶) is basically milk tea with sweet fermented rice. It's pretty interesting and worth a try! Though service was kinda lacking, overall I really like their flavours as someone who's not attracted to spicy food.

Signature rice noodle soup! So tasty!

Tasty food and fairly authentic. Their appetizers also taste great. Only downside is that they open only at night and close on Sundays.

Bowls start at only $12.88 and you choose a protein, base, sauce and 3 sides. I tried shrimp with thick noodles, dragon sauce and 3 veggie sides. The noodles were chewy and the sauce added a nice kick to it. I also tried the chicken curry over brown rice. I enjoyed the curry, next time I'm going to try their curry brisket over noodles. They also have bubble tea! I tried mango milk tea with pearls and lychee black tea with coconut jelly. Both drinks were refreshing with a fruity taste and I liked that they weren't too sweet.

The staff are efficient and friendly, as they guided us through the menu offerings and steps. I ordered a Large bowl and it was only $14.88! That is definitely a GREAT deal in this economy and I even had leftovers to bring home! I got chicken with dragon sauce on brown rice. Each bowl comes with 3 additional side dishes and they were a great addition to have. We also ordered a Mango Milk Tea ($5.49) and a Jasmine Green Tea ($4.99) with our preference of sugar and ice levels. Both were very refreshing and tasty. It was the perfect pairing with our meal!

Peking Duck course was fantastic. Food was more than enough for 4 people. Duck lettuce wrap was fantastic we couldn't finish all of it. Hot and Sour Soup was rather sour than spicy. It was not the best, but tasted alright though. My parents would've liked the soup to be a bit spicy. Sliced pork with garlic was good. Deluxe Fried Rice was fresh and tasty. Staff was helpful bringing water and more Hoisin sauce. Food was pretty good. We ended up taking some leftovers home. It was a wonderful dining experience at Chongqing!

The place used to be a fried chicken (fast food) joint way back, so the seating area is actually not that large. Most of the space is taken up by the kitchen. Staff are friendly and professional. The food is typical mid end banquet style, but the flavours are good, and the value is there. Lettuce wrap - standard restaurant fare. Decent quality. Fried green bean - nice and spicy, thanks to the house chili sauce. They can tune the spiciness on this one. Default is on the spicier side. Tasty. Shanghai fried noodles - standard restaurant fare. Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

The food court itself is full of different Asian cuisines, and this stall definitely stands out. They offer a wide variety of Shanghai-style dim sum, including dumplings, wontons, rice cake, several meat noodle soups, and some combo rice dishes. I ordered the Sichuan Style beef noodle soup, and it was surprisingly delicious and spicy -- the broth was flavorful, and the beef was incredibly tender. Even though it's just a small food court stall, the quality of the dishes makes it worth a visit. If you're already exploring Crystal Mall or craving some quick and tasty Shanghai-style snacks, this place is a solid choice.

Big size and very delicious. I'd ask for extra dipping sauce (or the chill oil if you like spicy). These can get messy if you don't be careful. Take a small bite of the skin first and sip the soup inside before diving in. The soup is very hot, so I usually pour it onto a spoon and drink it from there. #13 is translated as "Steamed Mini Pork Buns" in English and Shanghai Xiaolongbao in Chinese on the menu, which is misleading. When I ordered it last time, it turned out to be the same buns as #14, just steamed instead of deep-fried. They're large and not mini at all like traditional XLB. Personally, I didn't enjoy them as much as the fried version and wouldn't order them again. They tend to stick together and aren't very to-go friendly. #14 is the star here, and it's absolutely worth coming back for.
