    The store

This place is located in the crystal mall food court! I have been coming to this stall for a decade with my family. Their dumplings are all great, but their store signature dish is the pork dumplings with roasted peanuts and szechuan oil numbing spice. It is amazing! I ask for medium spicy because it is quite spicy! I highly reccomend trying this! The food court here is always busy for a good reason. :) Tables can be hard to find in the food court when it is peak hours. But it is worth it

    Medium spice Wontons

#2 On the menu "Delicious wontons" and the "Beef noodle" IF YOU LOVE SPICY. Comes as Mild, medium and spicy for the wontons and just mild for beef noodle, but can probably request a slicier soup. Honestly, I love a medium amount of spice, but I can only handle the mild here and it is definitely not bland. It's a tongue numbing spice, but it has got to be some of the most flavorful soupsi've ever had. It is definitely my favorite place for wontons and beef noodle and it is all I ever order here. Give amounts of beef and super tender. I've taken friends from out of town to all sorts of well known, nice restaurants in Vancouver, but a few have mentioned this being one of their most memorable dishes.

Great quantity for only $10. Chili sauce needs some salt, but the flavor is great. Wonton skin is thin and bouncy and the peanuts add a good texture. Underneath there is a layer of bean sprouts that also add some texture. The combination of ingredients is delicious. Service is fast and they give you a little buzzer for when it's ready so you can check out other stalls at the food court. Cash only though. 8.4/10 overall

This place was pretty quite compared to the other food court places but we decided to give it a try since it smelled good. We ordered on the app for pick up so we didn't have to use cash. It was pretty fast and the guy was quick to grab my food for me when I showed him the order number. Food flavor was really good. Not as spicy as I had expected but still a good experience. It's pretty dark and unassuming compared to the other stalls, but worth a try.

Lady has this place bookmarked for me since I enjoy Sichuan food. One of my favorite dishes is typically the spicy boiled beef or the beef noodle soup. The beef that came with the noodles were super soft and had absorbed a lot of the seasoning that came in the broth. The broth itself was super rich and fairly spicy (ordered a medium). The Sichuan peppers definitely stand out in this dish along with the beef. The noodles weren't too soft, and had a nice firm bite. If I'm in the area and in the mood for Sichaunese, I'd make a pitstop here if it weren't too busy again to try other other items. 〇【Menu Items Ordered & Rating Details】 ・Beef Noodle Soup, $12.50 (Ttl: $12.50 (tax excl.)) 〇【Food/Drinks: 3.0】 ・Small menu, makes food selection pretty straightforward. They had a few other sichuanese dishes on there that I've seen on most menus as well. Drinks were limited to water and some sodas/teas. 〇【Service: 3.5】 ・Staff who took my order spoke English/Cantonese, they use a paging system so you'll know when your order is ready. Time to serve was pretty short. 〇【Atmosphere: 3.0】 ・Store front is in the food court on the second floor in Crystal Mall. Overall there's a large amount of seating available of you're sitting with just you and/or one other person, may be difficult to find seating for groups of 4+ if you're going here with a larger group of friends on a fairly busy day. 〇【CP: 4.0】 ・It was priced pretty cheap for the amount that was given and the quality of the food. 〇【Misc memo】 ・NFC payments ・located in a food court

    Dan Dan noodles

Quick service and some tasty food. I've had their dry spicy wontons a couple of times and it's one of my favourite dishes to get at Crystal mall. It comes with plenty of roasted peanuts that are slightly salty. It compliments the wontons as it adds a nice crunch. There's so beansprouts too on the bottom to soak up the chili oil. They asked how spicy I wanted it and I just said normal spice and it has a good kick to it. I also got the Dan Dan noodles. This one is a bit different than other Dan Dan noodles because there's a lot more liquid rather than it being a thicker sauce. It's more of a soup consistency. It still has great flavour and the noodles have a good chew to them. They have increased their prices slightly since the last time I've been, but it has been a while. But the food is still under $10 for each dish, so it's a pretty good deal.

MUST TRY AT CRYSTAL MALL if you love hidden gems & spicy food, check out Chao Shou Want for their incredible noodle soups. The soups are hearty, spicy, firy and jam packed with spice and umami flavour. I personally love both the flour noodle and rice noodle pairings, as the two type of noodles hold its weight against the strong broth. Both the beef and pig intestine compliment the dish incredibly well. At $11 per noodle soup, it isn't the cheapest find in the Crystal Mall Food Court but it is a find that will leave you wanting more.

    Beef Noodle Soup

I've been to my fair share of beef noodle houses and I would honestly say the beef noodle soup is one of the best I ever had! Ps. Mild spicy will be best for most people out there.

    House Hot Noodles (8.50)

I've recently taken a liking to spicy foods, especially when it involves chili and garlic. I'm also no stranger to the food court at Crystal Mall and have always been curious about these plates of chili covered wontons that people seem to be ordering and soon discovered that they come from Chao Shou Wang. A plate of their Dry Spicy Wonton will set you back 8.50. The skin on these has a great chew and they come topped with a ton of roasted peanuts. I didn't really find these that spicy though and the meat inside was a bit on the blander side. I also tried their House Hot Noodles (8.50). These had a great chew and it was a HUGE mound of noodles. The sauce is essentially chili oil mixed with garlic, lots of roasted peanuts, and interlaced with some minced pork. This dish is very tasty and has a slow burn to it that will leave your mouth on fire for a few hours after the fact lol. If you get the wonton, I'd recommend dipping it in the chili garlic sauce that pools at the bottom of your plate of noodles. Food came REALLY fast after ordering.

GLORIOUS chili wontons. The wontons are quite big and had a tasty pork filling. I had the spiciest option and it was honestly not that spicy. Super good value as you get a huge plate of wontons for $10. Service is also super fast.

    dry wonton
    Winarni P.

One of my favourites place to eat at crystal mall. In the past, I usually ordered their beef noodle soup, but after read few reviews on yelp, I decided to try their dry wonton. First thing that come to my mind "I don't want to pay that just for wontons (aka snack), I rather pay for the beef noodle", that's why I never try their dry wonton. Because of curiosity, I decided to order the dry wonton with medium spicy level. The wonton itself is good, generous in the filling (I can tell they made the wonton by themselves), and it loads with nuts, chili oil, little veggies (boiled bean sprout), and chicken powder (lol i can really taste the chicken powder), it doesn't mix properly since some part only taste chili oil, and the other part taste chicken powder. However, that's the secret of chinese food! Overall taste is good tho, and you can add more spicy if you need more spicyness. They also provide salt, soy sauce, and black vinegar as well for the condiment. I think from now on I will order the dry wonton instead of the beef noodle. It is fulfilling even it's only 12pcs. (Their beef noodle portion is quite huge for me, I can eat it 1.5times and it is good, but dry wonton is better)

    David L.

I love their dry spicy wontons with roasted peanuts and chilli oil and they're definitely one of the standouts for this food court. Be warned, this dish is spicy! I had it twice, and the first time was medium spicy. The second time I ordered as mild. Mild was also spicy for me. The roasted peanuts and chilli oil really do go together really well and I really like the balance between the soft spicy wontons and crunchy and spicy roasted peanuts. Just remember to have a drink beside you.

Hot & sour soup - better than the competition. Not sure what's special about it, but it stood out. Chongqing deluxe fried rice - one of their signature dishes. Great mix of flavour. Crispy rice with shrimp soup - honestly this would be the one dish that wasn't that great. Rice blocks were crispy, but the shrimp soup was nothing special. I'd skip this dish. Other than the crispy rice, everything is pretty standard compared to similar places out there. Expectations were met. Very good value. I'd gladly eat here again. Recommended.

They're a Northern Chinese spot that specializes in Guangxi cuisine and located right next to Onezo Tapioca. Even though it closes at 9:00pm, there were still people after us that came in for late night eats. We didn't have any issues with service; they came by to fill our tea several times. Just wish they gave bigger cups. Food comes out in a hurry. The menu is short and sweet: noodles, rice meals, appetizers, wontons and drinks. Trip #1 First visit was on a late Wednesday evening (around 8:30pm). - Mama's unique special milk tea ($4.80) - we added grass jelly ($0.50) which was unfortunately from a can. The milk tea was different than the norm as there was sweet fermented rice bits mixed in. Decent but don't think we'd get it again. - Sour and spicy crystal noodle ($6.98) - glass noodles with minced pork, bean sprouts, cilantro and peanuts. We got our dish medium spicy which was mild. Broth was excellently balanced; loved the sour notes. Glass noodles had a satisfying bite and cilantro added freshness to the bowl. - House special escargot rice noodles in spicy noodles ($13.98) - escargot, pig ear, beef, tofu, marinated egg, shrimp and pork intestine. There was also pickled green beans, bamboo shoots, tofu skins, wood ear mushrooms and peanuts. Really different with a good variety of textures and flavour. Loved all the types of meat, especially the tender beef, pork intestine and pig ear. Escargot was tasty but we wanted more. The tofu skin and wood ear mushrooms underneath were excellent. - Fresh meat wonton ($5.98) - this comes in a light broth with 15 homemade wontons, pickled seaweed and baby dried shrimp. Broth is basic but the wontons are great. Trip #2 Second trip was on a Friday evening (around 8:00pm). - Braised beef, pig ear and tofu ($10.98) - the beef is the same as what you get in their noodle bowls. Pig ear wasn't crunchy but the sauce (some sort of Chinese mushroom) was good. Tofu was fairly standard. For the price, it's a small dish; I didn't think it was worth it. - Shredded chicken, vegetable and cold noodle with house sauce ($9.53) - they asked us how spicy we wanted it; we went with spicy. Again, it's not so don't worry. The noodles were thin and the sauce was almost like a dan dan mein. We liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly peanuty. - Beef and escargot rice noodle in spicy soup ($9.98) - the beef is super tender. Again, the escargots are hard to find but everything else in this bowl is delicious. Tofu skin, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, peanuts and pickled green beans. Satisfying and spiciness finally came through. An interesting twist to the usual Northern Chinese spots typically found in town. Cash or debit only.
