    We came on a Saturday for lunch. There was no wait for a table. Food came quickly Pork cumin noodles ($17.95) - these noodles were nice and chewy. Good flavour and strong cumin flavours. Portion was standard Dan Dan noodles ($14.95)- most peanuty and wet Dan Dan noodles I've had in awhile. It could have had a bit more noodles as there was leftover sauce. Pan fried dumplings (21.95) - would not recommend this one. It wasn't crispy. The inside has a bit of juice. It's less like dumplings and more like buns. Kabob lamb (10.50) - these are so addictive. 10.50 is the price for 3. They are fatty well seasoned and so good. I would get this again I felt like the pricing is not bad for what you get. The flavours are all pretty good and the portions are pretty average. Service is fast

    Came here recently to dine in with my family. We tried a number of variety of dishes. We had the cold chicken in spicy sauce and wine chicken. Both were yummy and we all really liked the wine chicken as you can really taste the wine. The pan fried buns were delicious and were juicy. This is the only restaurant we can find pan fried buns. The big bowl of noodle soups with fresh hand stretched noodles were perfectly el dente. We had one with thin noodles and another is thick dragging noodles. Great value for around $15 a bowl. We didn't try any fried noodles as we were all full already. I'll definitely come back to try the pan fried cumin lamb noodles. Service was good too.

    Wow. Who knew this restaurant that isn't eye catching at all offered such good food!! I'm normally too much of a fan of traditional Chinese food as I find them to be too greasy and salty. This one did not fit into my stereotype! In terms of ambience, there isn't much in the restaurant. No interior decoration. We sat right in front of a chef hand rolling the wrappers for the dumplings. It was fun to watch him. The staff was also attentive. My family came here for dinner one day as my brother was such a big advocate of their lamb pot. Here is what we ordered: 1) Cold skin noodles - if you love the texture than you'd love it. The noodles are not your usual starchy texture but a "springy" and slippery texture. They were served cold and the sauce was delicious. 2) Fried cutting noodles - this one I did not love as much simply because it was a lot drier than what i'm used too. Nonetheless, it wasn't greasy and the flavor was good. 3) drunken chicken - I love chinese drunken anything dishes. The wine flavor of this chicken was strong, exactly how I like it. My own complaint was that there wasn't too much meat on the chicken and they were cut so thinly. 4) Pan fried pork dumplings - my 2nd favorite dish of the night. They were soooo good and probably one of the best I've tasted. Firstly, the dumpling skin was fried to perfection where it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The meat cluster had hints of ginger and seasoning was on point. Normally, when I order dumplings, I'll dip them in vinegar; however, their version didn't need additional sauces! 5) Special lamb hot pot - this one was the highlight of the dinner and main reason why we were here. I normally cannot stand the taste of lamb in stews or soups; however, this lamb had no gamey taste. The hot pot came with veggies, tofu and lamb. The soup was perfect. It was spicy but not too spicy. It was very flavorful and both the veggies and tofu were soaked in flavor. I highly recommend this restaurant although you probably need more people in your party otherwise you won't be able to order a variety.

    I was looking for the best place for Chinese cumin lamb skewers since 3 places I tried had not much flavor. Someone recommended me this place. The skewers were bigger but also cost more @$2.75/skewer so I guess the price is the same as other skewer places that cost $1.50-2. It did look like it had a lot of seasoning but it was mostly spicy flavor and not enough cumin. Definitely better than other places I have tried but not better than the best I've had, which was the Chef James Xin Jiang Man BBQ at the Richmond Night Market. Next was the dan dan mian. Dan dan mian has a billion varieties and you'll never know what you get when you order. The one here was drier, not very nutty nor spicy, but very savory. I liked the texture of their hand pulled noodles. I prefer very nutty and soupy so I cant say much. My friend loved it. The dumplings are fantastic here. I love thick skinned hand made dumplings. We got the pork and bakchoy amd it was so juicy inside. Definitely will be back for the dumplings. Will keep looking for lamb skewers though.

    My mom is a huge fan of this restaurant, so it's a place we frequent when I visit. Their pan fried dumpling is amazing, I prefer the meat version, but you can order half & half to get a taste of the vegetable version; ingredients are good, the bun is fluffy, be warned the portion is big and can be a meal on its own. My mom loves the pork belly with salted vegetable pot, everything taste fresh, I do recommend having this in the restaurant as take out doesn't taste nearly as good for some reason. Another dish that is very enjoyable is the stir-fried noodle, appetizer cucumber, and the very very well made beef roll.

    We wanted noodles one evening so decided to try Yu Xiang Yuan. They make their own noodles in-house with 5 types (pushing, cutting, dragging, round and stewed noodles). They're next door to Shoom Restaurant. We dropped in on a Sunday evening (around 6:45pm). It wasn't too busy but quite a few tables were occupied. Service is actually good as the waitresses are efficient and constantly come by with hot tea. Go up to the counter to pay when you're done eating. The menu is massive with new cuisine, Yu Xiang Yuan specialties, fried noodles, noodles in soup, sauce noodle, flavoured noodles, rice dishes, delicious snacks, wonton and dumplings, cold dishes, vegetables, meat, griddle cooked & red stew and soup. There was also a sheet for new rice noodle series. Stick to their noodle options. Awesome that they bring out a pair of scissors so that you can cut the noodles. - Dragging noodles with meat & vegetables (cumin flavour) (#2) ($12.95) - this is one of their specialty dishes. Noodles had a good chew but M found the flavours to be too one-dimensional. - Stewed noodles with lamb & vegetable soup (#24) ($10.95) - the broth was bland and didn't have much lamb in it. The noodles are wide and flat but I could have used a springier, bouncier bite. - Dan-dan noodle (#27) ($9.95) - broccoli, bean sprout and pork. We opted for the round noodles. This was our favourite dish of the night; spicy, peanutty and well balanced. - Steamed lamb & vegetable dumplings (#62) ($11.95 for 12) - lamb wasn't very gamey and texture was too mushy. The wrapping lacked a bite. We should have tried the chicken with special hot sauce (#65) instead. Debit or cash only. YXY was decent but nothing we're craving.

    Some of the best noodles I've had in town. And many vegetarian (indeed, vegan) options to choose from. First, a quick word about ordering. I tried ordering through their website, but noticed that on the page to pay, they had tacked some extra fee (an additional 10% or so -- not a tip) that wasn't quoted previously. So I scrapped that, and ordered off SkipTheDishes for pick-up, which didn't have that extra fee. I ordered their Szechuan Spicy Green Beans ($16.95) and their Dan Dan Noodles ($12.95) with "cutting noodles", without the pork to make it vegetarian/vegan. My order was ready for pick-up 20 minutes later. The green beans were wonderfully cooked, coated in the perfect amount of chili peppers, a savoury soy sauce-like sauce, and plenty of garlic. Delicious. The cutting noodles were absolutely sublime -- chewy and starchy in the best of ways. Unlike many dan dan noodle dishes I've had, this came with broccoli, which is a nice touch. There was also plenty of thin tofu skin strips and the mandatory crushed peanuts. Haven't had many dan dan noodle dishes this good. All in all, I was super happy with this place. I'll definitely be returning. EDIT: I've been back a couple times. Their noodles are indeed consistently top-notch. Their other dishes are less impressive, but still stellar. Try their noodles!

    Yu Xiang Yuan Restaurant is located on Fraser Street & 50th. It has sign of advertising Chinese handcrafted noodles in front of the restaurant. We went there for lunch on Sun noon, they're getting busy after we got seated. We saw the tables around us dishes were so delicious and portion was huge!! The staffs weren't helpful and attentive! We finally ordered few dishes as we wanted to try... Mouthful chicken in chili oil - The chicken was ok and served in cold, but the chili oil was not spicy at all. Tan tan noodles - a lot of peanut butter sauce and a little ground pork on top of noodles. The handcrafted noodles were good and fresh. Just not bouncy enough. Steamed pork dumplings - Rough and fatty pork and think "skin" dumplings. Is that Northern style dumplings? Pan fried dumplings - It was very crispy but greasy! It's good and filling. Double cooked pork with mixed vegetables - Fatty thin sliced pork with a lot of onion instead of cabbage. Personally, I don't like northern Chinese food either too much starch or too greasy. Probably return in 6 months after....

As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

No complaints here but no endorsement either. There's no music in the restaurant either so it's a tad awkward. Staff are friendly. Lots of seating, including a patio area.
