Love their handmade fresh noodles! You can choose the noodle style. Their sweet and sour soup is very flavourful. The skewers are full of cumin spices! Service is good! They speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. The restaurant is family style. Kids were hanging out at the restaurant watching cartoon.

Decided to give North King Noodle House a try as they serve Northern Chinese food. They're next door to X-Site Bistro. We dropped in on a Thursday for lunch. Server was friendly, teapot brought to our table. Food came out within 15 minutes. - Chilli cold chicken (#3) ($13.95) - tender, boneless chicken. Chili oil was very mild. - Cumin lamb fried noodle (#11) ($17.95) - wasn't a fan of the lamb. Noodles were okay, vegetables (cabbage and broccoli) bland. - Soybean & pork sauce spinach noodle (#39) ($14.95) - noodles were decent but doesn't beat out Joojak's spinach noodles. - Xiao long bao (#100) ($10.95) - standard fare. Typical eats at NKNH.

Solid Northern style Chinese noodle shop in Burnaby Heights. This is where Paul's Restaurant used to be. Parking is plentiful along Hastings, as well as the side streets. The inside is pretty bare bones but modern. I talked to the staff and the owner of this place also owns Yu Xiang Yuan (noodle restaurant) at Fraser and 50th. I had their lamb noodle soup. For the price, the portion is a wee bit small. Ingredients were fresh, with plenty of vegetables. The lamb pieces are from random parts of the animals, so be sure to be adventurous. The noodles are springy and nice. I'm not sure if this place has the thick noodles. According to the staff, they are all handmade, though I couldn't see the kitchen area. The beef rolls are a decently large portion. Stuffed full of meaty goodness, with just the right amount of sauce inside. Delicious. Pricing is a bit high, but the quality is decent. I'd eat here again. Recommended.

Newly opened, North King Noodle House has some delicious surprises up their sleeve with a take of a more northern region of Chinese food and some dim sum items too. The interior is beautiful and simple. They do have a few booths and even a larger table to accommodate 6 people. What we tried and shared: -Dan-Dan Noodles (peanut butter) $15.95 -Soybean & Pork Sauce Spinach Noodle $15.95 -Beef Noodle Soup $13.95 -Xiao Long Bao $10.95 -Xin-Jiang Chicken Fried Noodles (boneless) $23.95 -Beef Roll $11.95 Some of our top favourites were the Xiao Long Bao, Dan-Dan Noodles and the Beef Noodle Soup. The Xin-Jiang Chicken Fried Noodle had a great wok-hei and the sauce was super yummy. The potato(french fries) was a pleasant surprise. The staff are super friendly and if your have any dietary issues just ask them, including a change in spice level. They're also serving some very fragrant tea, which I believe is a Lychee tea (not 100% sure) but its delicious. If your in the area go and give North King Noodle House a try. I'm sure you'll find something that will satisfy that craving.

North King Noodle House 北皇饭店 recently opened in Burnaby Heights. This is a haven of Hunan cuisine, also known as Xiang cuisine 湘菜. We dropped by for lunch. On our table: Chili Cold Chicken - bursting with that authentic Xiang flavor, absolutely delightful! Beef Noodle Soup - the noodles stole the show, chewy and bursting with flavor. Steamed Lamb Dumplings - oh, the juiciness! A mild grass-finished flavor, truly a treat for the taste buds. The quality is unmatched, and the value is fantastic. If you find yourself in Burnaby Heights, North King Noodle House is a must-visit. We recommend this spot for an unforgettable journey into Xiang cuisine! Food: 5/5 Must Try! Service: 5/5 Kids: 3/5 Yay! Price: $30-50 for two (Lunch) Presentation: 2/5 Parking: Street parking available in the neighbourhood. Tips: * Get $5 off for orders over $40 * Can ask the server for the spice level adjustment. * Serve hand-made noodles. Would I Return: Yes ‍

We were in the area during the week and stopped by two times for a lunch and a dinner. The food is somewhat authentic. The xiao long bao were alright. The skin was really thin and I found it broke really easily that the soup was lost at times. It was interesting they provided a spoon to scoop the dumplings into our bowls. Some dishes were not really authentic as they put French fries in one of their noodle dishes. It did taste surprisingly decent for what it was. They upsold that their beef roll was really good. However, it was literally just beef rolled into a pancake. The greens (cucumber, cilantro or green onion) were missing. I found some of the flavours were also catering to the clientele in the community. Ambience is dated. It felt like a hole in the wall type of restaurant. However, the service made up for it. Overall, I find this a good Asian cuisine addition to North Burnaby. I would consider coming back when I am in the area when I wanted to enjoy some dumplings. There is ample street parking in the area.

La Zi Ji Chongqing Chicken "Deep-fried Chicken with Chilies"
    Nick F.

Very tasty Got the Shui Zhu Yu, Water Boiled Fish. And the La Zi Ji, the Chongqing Chicken. Both were great! There was a ton of fish, and the La Zi Ji was BONELESS, which is the only time I've seen this dish served boneless. So anyone with an aversion to bones would do well here. Highly suggest a visit

This is my first time trying Haidilao, I was so impressed with the service. Food was fresh, we opted for unlimited meat, we had beef & lamb slices. There is an extra charge of the sauce bar, about $3 plus dollars. That includes dessert & their yummy congee as part of the sauce bar. There's even a show presentation on a popular Chinese mythology figure, The Monkey God. A thoroughly enjoyable meal. Service is prompt & good, our server Elvis was attentive & most helpful. Trying to reorder meat on their iPad was a bit challenging, there's too many options. We had Elvis helping us with the reordering. You are offered ice cream at the end of your meal too. Decor was cute, clean & inviting Fresh food, great service, paid parking in the mall parking.

Wait may be a bit long if you don't have a reservation (we made a reservation but came 30 minutes early and wanted to get in earlier), but they offer free snacks and drinks at the waiting area.

(Sn: The constant opening and closing of the door is a bit off putting sitting right by the entrance, but I'm not docking a star because of that) Just basing my rating on the food alone. My mom thought they didn't have enough ginger in the vinegar (but personally it's a mute point for me since if the XLB is good enough I don't add ginger) I enjoyed them. Nice and soupy just the way I like them. Braised Beef noodle soup w/ Kuan noodle - great noodle and beef texture, broth could be a bit more flavourful, but honestly not bad. Popcorn chicken - it's lacking depth in seasoning, and a little overdone on the dark side of things, but pretty good otherwise. Overall, everything was pretty good, just not a solid 5 stars in my books.

After that, we ordered from them again many, many times through the Fantuan app. The menu is simple. Basically rice and noodles, just as the name of the shop implies. They do also have a few other side dishes like gyoza and spring rolls which you can order, but basically we go to this place for the rice and noodles.
