    Chilled cucumbers

Inexpensive, no thrills place serving home made baos, dumplings, beef noodle soup, and the like. Note if you use credit card there is a 5% service fee. Also you should be able to speak mandarin. We ordered the following: - chilled cucumber salad - this was good - beef noodle soup. It's OK. Not bad but nothing that really stands out. Meat is about average, not that tender but not too tough. - Jian Bao 煎包 - crispy, well done with lots of meat inside - vegetarian bao - I thought this was not bad, but maybe too much dough - savory tofu soup - sorry but I thought this was really weird. It's like eating corn starch mixture. Overall - some good, but mostly meh and nothing really stands out.

    Pork bun $2

Master Bao opened in Vancouver a couple of months ago, taking over the spot "Love For Pho" along kingsway and Aberdeen. This is a much bigger location compared to the one near metrotown (kingsway and McKay). Parking is available in the plaza and along the street. The prices are really affordable at the moment. Noodle soup for $13.99 and below. Dumplings ($12.99 and under) and baos (steamed buns) are $2-2.50 each. There are also tofu puddings and other small snacks. Complimentary tea when dining in. I tried the crispy fried pork which is tasty. My friend liked chili oil. She added it to the chicken soup small wonton and said that was even better. I had the steam pork bun which was ok. The bun was a bit sticky. The pork patty was a bit small compared to the bun. The spicy wontons were also ok. Not too spicy. It was quite a lot with 10 wontons. More wonton skin than pork filling. It was filling due to the carbs from the dough. I'll want to try the steamed chicken with chili sauce (口水鸡) next time. It was not available when we were there. I'm glad to have a steamed bun and tofu pudding place in the neighborhood. Note: there's a 5% fee transaction for credit card. Bring cash or use debit.

    A variety of steamed buns

Located in a small strip mall and near Good Feet. Service was prompt and the restaurant was clean. Menu prices are relatively cheaper compared to other similar businesses. *Cash or debit payment only.* -Beef noodle soup: clear and not too salty tasting broth with tender chunks of beef. Moderate size portion. -Steamed buns: good balance of bun to filling ratio. Filling tends to be formed patties, and flavours between the varieties do not differ much. -Xiao long bao: waited longer for these to come out of the kitchen, but so worth it! The combination of the texture, taste and gush of soup from these buns was really good! -Fried chicken pieces: a bit bland tasting and a bit dry. All the food was fresh, and I didn't sense any MSG in them, so that's a bonus. I'd come back for at least the noodle soups and Xiao long bao!

Food was hot and delicious The restaurant is cafeteria style so you need to grab tea and utensils yourself. It's spacious, clean and bright the staff are so friendly. The dumplings remind me of the ones my grandmother used to make. They also sell frozen dumplings and buns so you can take some home to make for a late night snack!!

The food was amazing and the beef was so tender. You could see the food being made behind a glass window. Would definitely come back

I got the beef udon and two tempera. As a tip get the daishi soy sauce to dip your tempera in. It is way better than the tempura sauce. The beef udon was very delicious and it comes with a good portion of beef in the udon. Everything is made upon ordering. The place is somewhat like food court style. You order and they make it in front of you and you head over to grab your tempura or sides and then you head off to the till to pay. It is a very efficient system. The place is clean and has a good amount of seating. I highly recommend coming here for lunch. They also have late night special for those partying out late and are hungry.

It does remind me of the udon I've had Japan. They could be a little more generous on the green onions, but that's just my personal preference! Service: It kind of feels like a cafeteria, and like I previously mentioned it's similar to what I've had in Japan. It's really quick and efficient which is nice. Ambiance: Casual, and clean as well. Not too loud. But definitely better than a fast food place. For this kind of place, it's as good as it gets. 4 stars - extremely solid and reliable place, it's just not a 5 stars for me because it doesn't blow my mind or anything.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

The gentleman (owner?) greeted us and provided us with some suggestions on their best sellers. During our dining experience, he was a little loud with shouting instructions to the kitchen and we did feel a bit rushed to finish our meal and not occupy the table with diners lining up. I ordered the beef noodle soup, and the noodles were prepared well (good texture and not soggy) and the soup had a slight but not overwhelm sour taste from the preserved vegetables. The beef wasn't as tender as it could be, but it wasn't chewy or tough to eat. Prices are reasonable at around $20 after tax and tips. While it wasn't the best or most authentic beef noodle soup I've had, it does hit the spot if I'm craving Taiwanese food downtown or want a hot bowl of noodle soup on a cold day.

I think most people do that so it also gets filled up during the lunch hour rush. The food is ok, nothing special. The price increase makes it even less appealing. I don't know why there is chili in my Taiwanese beef noodle soup. I don't like spicy soup. Lucky I am ok with spice but I wish it is stated in the menu? So if you cannot take spicy food, check with them before ordering. The beef noodle soup is tasty as I do like the addition of pickled vegetables in it, giving a bit of tartness. The beef is tender though the quantity is very little. More noodles than meat ratio. The combo is totally not worth it now that the price has gone up to about $13. If you want rice and noodle for lunch, I think Peaceful Restaurant across the street is a better bet. At least the portion is bigger.

Bun Bo Hue (Small $16.19) - super spicy, but that's fine since I enjoy spicy foods. The issue was that the broth was quite bland, and the spiciness wasn't enough to make up for it. Usually, this soup base has a lot of depth and flavour from broth that's been simmering for a long time to extract those flavours, but this was probably one of the worst ones I've tried. Decent portion of meat, at least 3-4 large slices of Vietnamese ham and goor amount of beef slices. The noodles were SUPER undercooked! Good portion of bean sprouts, and came with 1 wedge of lime. Beef Brisket and Beef Ball in Noodle Soup (Large $17.62) - again, VERY bland broth. The noodles also tasted sort of like freezer burn? Decent portion of meat and filling enough. Just had to douse in Siracha and oyster sauce to finish the bowl though... Pork Spring Rolls ($10.48) - flavour was decent, nothing special. Deep fried okay as well. No complaints here but no endorsement either. There's no music in the restaurant either so it's a tad awkward. Staff are friendly. Lots of seating, including a patio area.
