Chashu ramen + curry don with an extra order of noodles was perfect for 2 to share. The ramen broth is flavourful and chashu super tender! Loved the warmth of the curry sauce!

This was a super authentic experience. This is a small establishment with limited seating to approximately 20 patrons. We got the pork curry rice which was DELICIOUS. Flavors just meld so well together. A full-bodied experience with every bite. We split a ramen because we wanted to save room for the rest of our food crawl. Ramen broth was silky, smooth, flavorful, creamy without cream. Exquisite. Reminds me of the ramen in Japan. We got an extra Ajitsuke Tamago (ramen egg) and I'm so glad we did! The egg was PERFECT, marinated beautifully and so jammy on the inside. I love bamboo in my ramen so also added this as a side. Noodle refills are only $2!! Fantastic. I dare say this was one of the best ramen experiences of my life. 5 STARS.

"aka" Ramen

Maruhachi Ra-men is a small chain that offers awesome Ramen. This location near Stanley Park provides a cozy, authentic, environment. Their chicken broth is fairly creamy. I had the aka ramen, which included ground nuts and chili. It was just the right spice level. The pork shoulder chashu topping was tender and full of flavor. The other ingredients--seaweed, green onion, cilantro, bean sprout namuru, and lemon--made it quite complex. Best of all, the thin noodles were the perfect al dente, providing a satisfying meal. Another plus is the beer list. I've struggled to find good dark beers in Vancouver, and Maruhachi offers one of my favorites, Coedo Black Lager. Service was very quick--with this many customers it has to be. There's usually a line, so best to go at an odd time. I went at 3 pm and there was no problem getting in.

Came in just before closing, no line and food came quick! The white broth was super rich and very good. Egg was only okay, the yolk was more solid than I would have liked. Otherwise the normal flavour was perfectly seasoned for me.

Small and cozy restaurant. Fast service. Friendly. Ramen hit the spot after a long day of walking in the rain. Chicken base broth was delicious. Noodles were firm. Veggies were fresh

Aosa Seaweed Ramen

This location is spacious and welcoming. Staff were friendly and provided a basket for our bags. The food came out quickly after ordering. The broth is rich and has a light chicken flavour. Because the noodles and soup aren't very salty, they provide a salty ramen sauce you can add to your preference (caution: it's very salty so add only a few drops at a time). I enjoyed the aosa seaweed ramen which comes with a generous portion of seaweed. I recommend getting the fried garlic chips too!

Fun place to eat at with excellent food and great prices. I got the original and my wife got an upgraded bowl and we were very happy with our meals

This was hands down the best ramen I have ever had! Service was friendly and fast. The ramen was creamy and delicious. We loved the garlic chips to snack on and add to our bowls. Also really like that they had a vegetarian option available, which seemed kind of rare for the area.

Ramen featuring Chicken broth, thin white ramen noodles instead of the traditional egg noodles. The broth is a bit on the salty side but flavorful. The staff is very good in making sure if there is any allergies in the group and ask the kitchen to clean their dishes before cooking for the person with allergies.

You have to get ramen in Vancouver and this place is definitely a good one. An easy place to go alone or with a friend when you need some comfort. Tamago Ramen had a rich and creamy chicken broth, tender pork Chashu, and good toppings. I prefer a more flavorful ramen but I still really enjoyed. Dashimaki egg omelette was the perfect texture and taste. Savory and a little sweet. Service was also great, they're really nice and it feels so cozy.

Needed to find a quick bite near the hotel and we wanted ramen after a morning hike. So we found this place in a walking distance from the hotel. We got there and the serving staff seated us shortly. Great service, quite prompt and very welcoming. The store is roomy and airy. And I can smell the aroma from the broth. We ordered 2 bowls of ramen: shoyu ramen and chashu ramen. Both tasted great and not too salty. Only thing I'll comment on is the thin noodles, as I prefer the option to choose a thicker noodle. However the region of the ramen is only for thin noodles. So that's all good. I like the sign that tells you how to order the texture of the noodles. This place is a must try.

We came on a rainy Monday afternoon. It wasn't busy at all. We were going to go to ramen danbo, but our Uber driver recommended this place. I'm not sure if he had an ulterior motive to go to a closer destination. I wasn't too impressed with the ramen. The broth was a little bland. Service was fine. The space was cozy, nothing spectacular. I would not return nor recommend.

Heard from my colleague this was his fave ramen place so decided to give it a try! I ordered the simple tamago ramen. Love how it's a whole egg and not stingy with half an egg! Came with two slices of cha shu and some spring onions and some seaweed! The infamous fried garlic chips is now extra which is a little much. I found the broth to be extremely salty! Not sure if they put too much salt... I prefer thicker noodles rather than thin but they made the thin noodle Al dente just the way I prefer it! Hate soggy noodles! Overall it was decent! Came right when they open so no need to lineup so another plus!

Best Ramen that we ate at in downtown Vancouver. Fast service, clean and cozy ambiance. Definitely worth a visit.

If you're curious about the rest of their ramen lineup, the ramen flight is a fun way to try them out without committing to just one. Service has been attentive on my visits, and food comes out quickly, which is always appreciated. Last night, I tried their Dine Out Vancouver menu and thought it was excellent value. For $35, it included a Sapporo beer, five pieces of takoyaki, a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen, and mochi ice cream. It also happened to be Sake Friday, so we picked up a bottle at 50% off - hard to complain about that math. The ambience was generally fine, but the staff were doing a photoshoot for their new menu right beside our table. The lighting was extremely bright and the space felt cramped, and since the shoot lasted the entire duration of our meal, it became a bit distracting. Overall, strong food and good value, with a small but avoidable atmosphere miss on this particular visit.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered a vegan rice bowl, and my friend and I shared an order of the vegetable gyoza and an aburi cheesecake. The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!

It was so light and crispy and the chicken was tender and juicy. Saku's katsu was so good that when I think about the katsus I've had is the past at other places I realize now they were just decent katsu. Other highlights here are their house made sesame dressing - so good. They sliced the cabbage salad so thin that in combination with the sesame dressing it was a great combo. I usually don't like that much raw cabbage but I ate every bit of it. The ambience is airy and cool. The staff were really great and asked us about any allergies. We'd walked by this place before and seen a line out the door. Now we know why.

Still comes with a little side of pickles, and unlimited rice, cabbage, and miso soup. No katsu sauce. The katsu was fried to perfection. Juicy, tender, cant complain. But since they serve it in a broth, it does get soggy really quick. Still good, but after a few minutes its just soggy. The broth is nice with rice; comforting kind of meal. The unlimited rice/soup/cabbage is just icing on the cake. My dining partner had the Kake udon (pretty good, noodles good texture and slightly smaller strands than most places) and Menchi Cheese side - basically a pork meatball with cheese and deep fried katsu-style, served with katsu sauce. This was excellent. My original review still stands. Excellent katsu, plus they have the consistency and reliability. $28-30/meal and its plenty of food for 1, especially with unlimited cabbage/rice/soup. Restaurant is nice and comfortable, good spacing and not cramped. Easy recommend. 5/5.
