Classic Rekka Ramen (medium spicy top, extra spicy bottom)
Diana P.

There is usually always a wait at Ramen Danbo but for good reason. The ramen is consistent and delicious. The space inside is tight with closely spaced seating so I would recommend that you go in pairs or small groups rather than big groups. I ordered the classic Rekka ramen, extra spicy. The broth leaned rich and savory with a noticeable chili kick that builds rather than overwhelms right away. Portions felt satisfying for myself but you do have the options to order an additional portion or half portion of noodles. My partner ordered the classic rekka ramen, medium with a ramen egg and I would 100% recommend you order the ramen egg. Service and pacing were efficient, which makes sense given the constant line but it's definitely not a linger-over-dinner kind of place.

Classic ramen spicy add egg and seaweed

The flavor on this ramen had a depth of subtle notes which I have never encountered in another bowl. Many ramen restaurants can fall into a trap of over salty or bold broths, but the balance of flavor was perfect here. It's clear that this ramen is worth waiting for as even with quick and polite service, there was a line out the door in the middle of the day. We sat at the bar and watched the chef prep and serve, a lovely experience.

A well known place for ramen and a Vancouver favourite. I can see why people come here and the popularity. Food came very fast and the noodle/broth/ richness customizations is really similar to Japan. Since it was my first time coming in a long time, I opted for regular levels of everything except for wide noodles. However, I found the broth a bit salty so next time I would probably ask for less richness. I came on a Friday night around 6 and it took half an hour for a group of three to get seated.

100% top notch ramen! A very tiny, tiny spot! For years I've noticed this location & the one on Robson St having always had the longest lines! Today shockingly no line! I stopped the car! I'm not a fan of the pork (prefer my pork seasoned) in it, but everything else = bring it on! The broth - one of the tastiest I've ever had. The noodle - also excellent. Like I said at the beginning - Danbo is super small but definitely packs a punch. This has easily become my favourite ramen joint in town. If you're ever passing a Ramen Danbo & there's no lineup outside, get inside there quickly & you'll find out why it's sofa king good! It's all very quick here - service is sharp to the point, you order, it's served right away, you eat, you pay & leave happy.

I tried their limited time seasonal ginger ramen, vegan version, and it was SO YUM. Perfect for a rainy, wintery evening. Danbo Kitsilano is the only location I have found with the vegan soft-boiled egg offering, and it hits every time.

Classic Miso Ramen with chashu pork

There is always a long wait time but it's so worth it. Love this place ! The service is great, however, a bigger place would be a nice improvement.

I hadn't been to Ramen Danbo in over a year and was really craving it! It was perfect on a rainy day and I love the customization (noodles, richness etc) and how they have vegan options. I did find the broth a bit salty this time so thats a sign for me to customize the richness next time which I usually don't think of, I had the classic and added cloud ear mushroom. Still my favourite Vancouver ramen spot!

Ramen Danbo never disappoints! I've been to the Seattle location, so when visiting BC, I knew I had to get it again. There was a long line on the weekend, so beware of that. Amazing broth and noodles! I wish you didn't have to pay for an egg, but their prices are reasonable regardless. I also wish the pork was a thicker cut, but that's a personal preference.

while at khatsahlano days, we decided to finally try ramen danbo, there's always a steady lineup outside their robson location, and we were curious to give them a try. we showed up around 3:00 pm on a saturday and were waitlisted. the line moved quickly though, we were seated in under 10 minutes. the space is tiny and tightly packed, i had to carefully shimmy between two closely set tables to get to the inner seat. it was very cozy. this was our first time trying ramen danbo, which specializes in fukuoka style tonkotsu ramen, a creamy, slow simmered pork bone broth that's rich with umami and collagen. the thin, straight noodles and fully customizable options are hallmarks of this southern japanese style. i ordered their signature tonkotsu pork broth ramen with thin noodles, and added a soft boiled egg. things that i thought were included like nori, wood ear mushrooms, and kaedama (extra noodles) are all extras. my bowl arrived looking beautiful, glistening golden broth, vibrant green onions, that jammy soft egg, and two slices of pork chashu. the richness was real, though the broth leaned on the salty side. a nice touch: each table has a small jar of raw, finely minced garlic paste, which adds an amazing boost when stirred in to the ramen. you can see the team behind the counter working nonstop, everything's made to order, and it shows in the freshness and texture. even with the rush, service was gracious and efficient. overall, a satisfying first visit. rich, slurpable, and fully customizable.

negi goma ramen chashu-men

Came here on a weekday evening to catch up with some friends. Be warned, they are often busy with a lineup, so come early to put your name down on the list! They are pretty small inside. Service is very prompt and friendly, and efficient! I got the Negi-goma Chashu-men because I was very hungry. This bowl comes with 6 slices of pork. I also got an egg addition and ended up getting a half order of Kaedama noodles. Guess what? I was still hungry lol. it's hard to survive out here. The ramen was delicious as always! The broth is rich, creamy, and flavourful, but not too heavy. I loved the sesame seed addition. The egg was perfectly jammy too.

The closest Japanese Ramen you will find out of Japan. Waiting list might take longer than expected but it's worth it

regular classic ramen with soft boiled egg - thin noodles, standard broth and standard karadare

Walked by many, many times, but finally gave Ramem Danbo a try today. It did not disappoint! Bonus: no line up on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Speedy service and friendly staff. The order: - Regular Classic Ramen: standard noodles, standard broth thickness and richness and standard karadare along with a soft boiled egg for good measure. This definitely brought me back to Japan! Super tasty and just the right portion. Great value too! Tip: Go on a weekday for a lunch combo set.

Some of the best ramen I've had and I've had a lot. Very rich broth and meat was flavorful. Love that you can get more ramen for 3 bucks. Location is so small. Only room for 20 people but turn over is pretty fast. It's reasonably priced for ramen and add more meat for 6. Tip next time I'll sign up on waitlist earlier to avoid having to wait so long I'd come again and

Stopped by Maruhachi on a Saturday lunchtime after our long commute from Seattle. this restaurant…read moreis tucked in a corner not too far from the main Robson street. Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

If you're curious about the rest of their ramen lineup, the ramen flight is a fun way to try them out without committing to just one. Service has been attentive on my visits, and food comes out quickly, which is always appreciated. Last night, I tried their Dine Out Vancouver menu and thought it was excellent value. For $35, it included a Sapporo beer, five pieces of takoyaki, a bowl of Tonkotsu ramen, and mochi ice cream. It also happened to be Sake Friday, so we picked up a bottle at 50% off - hard to complain about that math. The ambience was generally fine, but the staff were doing a photoshoot for their new menu right beside our table. The lighting was extremely bright and the space felt cramped, and since the shoot lasted the entire duration of our meal, it became a bit distracting. Overall, strong food and good value, with a small but avoidable atmosphere miss on this particular visit.

The staff was very pleasant and helpful with menu suggestions. I ordered a vegan rice bowl, and my friend and I shared an order of the vegetable gyoza and an aburi cheesecake. The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!

Saku's katsu was so good that when I think about the katsus I've had is the past at other places I realize now they were just decent katsu. Other highlights here are their house made sesame dressing - so good. They sliced the cabbage salad so thin that in combination with the sesame dressing it was a great combo. But since they serve it in a broth, it does get soggy really quick. Still good, but after a few minutes its just soggy. The broth is nice with rice; comforting kind of meal. The unlimited rice/soup/cabbage is just icing on the cake. My dining partner had the Kake udon (pretty good, noodles good texture and slightly smaller strands than most places) and Menchi Cheese side - basically a pork meatball with cheese and deep fried katsu-style, served with katsu sauce. This was excellent. My original review still stands. Excellent katsu, plus they have the consistency and reliability. $28-30/meal and its plenty of food for 1, especially with unlimited cabbage/rice/soup. Restaurant is nice and comfortable, good spacing and not cramped. Easy recommend. 5/5.
