    Basic with chashu add-on

Loved that we were seated quickly and the bathroom was clean. Enjoyed the food but noodles were a little too hard for my liking. i prefer Maruhachi but if this close, I know my kids would like the karage. Great service. Very quick. My friend treated and this is her go-to.

I went for lunch with a party of 4. The space is cramped and we waited around 10 minutes. Good value...prices are decent and the portions are huge. Yokohama Iekei: broth was rich and flavourful, the noodles were thick and chewy and the chashu melted in my mouth. I would order this again. Spicy karaage ramen: my colleague ordered this and liked the broth and chicken karaage. She was complaining that the noodles were too thick, but you can substitute for thin noodles, you just need to let your server know. Chashu bakamori ramen: my colleague ordered this and it looks impressive but he said it was just ok. It comes with extra meat and noodles but the topping is mostly bean sprouts. They give you a bowl to put the bean sprouts in and he was trying to give it to us as it was way too much.

I can't remember what is was called, but it was the chicken with noodles and spicy chili.

I was recommended this place from our hotel staff and needless to say, they lived up to their praise. From the moment we entered we were greeted and seated immediately. The food came out quickly and tasted amazing! The servers and kitchen crew were friendly and the dining room was very clean. It is a smaller establishment and a line did form to be seated, but it's worth the wait!

Yet another ramen craving came upon me and decided to check this place out. It's right smack downtown so there is little to no street parking but parkades are scattered everywhere. They are also affiliated with Ramen Butcher over at East Georgia. I've got the 'Basic Ramen ' as per the servers recommendation. I've also opted for the thin noodles rather than the fat ones that come with it. Rich broth option with Pork Chasu The broth had great flavour. The noodles were cooked great and the pork chasu was fatty (just the way I like it) Umami bomb on each sip. Topping are extra of course The place has a nice setting to it and it's right by two busy cross- streets, so you can really see the hustle and bustle of DT Vancouver while you have your ramen. Try the 'Basic' and slurp away

Place is always busy during lunch hours, smallish place with seating/tables cramped together. Nice place for a quick casual meal. Semi open kitchen smack in the middle of the restaurant Normal ramen selections with either char siu or karage chicken protein options. Choice of "rich" or "light" soup base. Rich is creamier/saltier.

Every time I pass by this place, there is a lineup, but I got a table right away when I arrived. It was around 4 pm on a weekend. The place is not large, and each table is bit close to each other, so it felt cramped. I ordered a basic with chashu, rich soup. It was a good portion size and tasted very rich. It was heavy and fatty. I was very hungry then, so it turned out to be a satisfying meal!

I have been to this ramen joint in Yaletown a few times for a fair judgement. I tried their Yokohama Iekei ramen, tsukemen and the famous Bakkamori ramen. I would say I got fully satisfied every time I visited the place. The place is not difficult to find and usually there is a queue outside the shop. The interior is neat and tidy. Servers are attentive and I could observe the majority of them are Japanese. Their tsukemen has very big portion and the ramen is made of buckwheat. The tsukemen soup for dipping tasted fantastic. Add the vinegar provided if you want a less greasy texture. This was recommended by a Japanese when I was asking for a high quality and value tsukemen in Vancouver. Compared to some long queue waiting ramen shop for tsukemen the quality and quantity are in fact much better, I am sure. The Bakkamori Ramen is no doubt the epic choice for someone with big stomach or shared by two persons. The huge amount of spring spouts and karaage is definitely satisfying that nowhere in Vancouver can you find the same. They have more appetisers and side dishes worth trying. I will definitely return.

Pretty good dipping ramen, with wheat noodles. The price was reasonable and the portions were good. Chasu was on point and thick. Dipping broth was generous. Egg was softboiled - like it should be. Thick noodles absorb the soup well

Really good ramen, slight thicker than the other ramen place but I absolutely enjoyed it. The soup is so tasty and the karaage was seasoned perfectly. As you can see from the pic, my order has lots of bean sprouts. It is super detoxifying and great to paired with fried chicken for sure. Look forward to eating here again soon.

Spicy rich broth with chashu, spicy level 2 fried rice

The most authentic ramen I have ever had on this side of this side of the world!!! So simple, rich, no frills. The menu took me back to Japan and the ramen blew my expectations. The fried rice was also really tasty, decent spiciness and good amount of pork flavor. The servers are also really sweet. A nice late night casual spot that hits the spot.

Basic ramen (rich soup) with chashu

Decided to try this restaurant as I've always seen the restaurant busy whenever I walked by. I also didn't know it was related to Chinatown's butcher ramen as it had a similar menu. We ordered the spicy tsukemen and selected chashu instead of karaage, and cold noodles as per the waiters recommendation. We also ordered the basic ramen with chashu and a rich soup. I thought the tsukemen was great! A huge portion of chewy, thick noodles that worked well with the hot bowl of soup to dip in. The chashu slices were also very soft, tender and extremely flavourful. The spicy flavour had a sweetness to it which isn't ideal for my own taste but I can see why it was an option on the menu. The basic ramen was also very flavourful! The soup was very rich and had a strong pork flavour while maintaining the creaminess of chicken soup. Paired with bouncy noodles the overall bowl was great. Again, the meat was tender and flavourful. Overall I would return to satisfy my tsukemen cravings but to also try a different ramen on the menu!

We had tsukemen and Yokohama Iekei ramen and tsukemen was so good! Yokohama was thick but flavor was more similar to stewed pork to me (now I realized why they put "home-made" in the description), so generally it was not as impressive. Service was good and attentive even though the whole place was busy at noon. Crazy how busy it still is on the weekdays.

My bf and I came here after the hockey game and there was already a line up around 730pm. The wait wasn't too bad though as we waited about 10 mins. We both ordered the bakamori karaage ramen. The server told us the portion was massive, she wasn't kidding. We also shared a side of spicy fried rice. Midway through eating the ramen I was getting sick of the flavour, ramen and even chicken karaage. The chicken karaage had a lot of fat inside that was putting me off. I really enjoyed the fried rice, my only complaint was it was overly greasy. I probably wouldn't order the bakamori ramen again but for the price and the portion you get it's not bad. Service was good.

Paid parking was not too hard to find on the Main Street but during busy dining hours it might be difficult. We got seated right away at the bar since there were no tables open and the service was quick. Traditional Japanese style ambiance and even the bathroom had rounded Japanese bowl sink. As someone who doesn't have chicken broth (paitan style) ramen, I was really looking forward to the original ramen I ordered but I was a bit disappointed in the flavor profile of the dish. The ramen had both chasu and seaweed paired with thin round noodles. The broth was creamy and had a hint of chicken flavor but even adding several rounds of their soy sauce/salt seasoning they have on the side to adjust your broth to your liking-- I found that the richness of the soup was not what I had expected from the reviews that I read prior to coming here. Overall, a bit disappointed in the flavoring of the broth but maybe we came on an off day. I would be willing to give it a shot again in the future if I had ramen cravings and given that it was very affordable ($11-15 per bowl with tip), but I would probably opt to try another place first.

Review #3 for 2026 I…read morereally wanted to like this place. I watched many videos and read reviews before coming here, but it just did not hit the spot. After a cold day of exploring Stanley Park, we felt that ramen would really hit the spot, so we went here not wanting to deal with a wait at Danbo with a hungry and tired toddler. There was NO wait when we arrived here and we were seated immediately... which for a place that was really hyped up, should had made us think twice. There was only 1 other party at the restaurant. Now, the workers were super nice and the food came out quickly and we did eat everything because we were starving. We all ordered the cha-shu tamago ramen, 2 of us got spicy and 2 of us non-spicy. It came with extra chashu and the soft boiled egg for about $20 Canadian. The bowl was a good size and there was a promo for free extra noodles while we were there. Everyone except me in our group took advantage of it because I was too full from my bowl. Now, the broth here is different from other places because it is chicken based and not pork based. Everything I had seen about this place promised the broth is every bit just as good as the pork bone broth... however, the broth we received looked flavorful, but was bland. It was completely bland. There was no richness to it, not even a hint. I don't know, coming from southern California, the flavor just was not there period. We did all eat our food because we were starving, but it for sure did not hit the spot at all. Maybe we got an off day? Otherwise our broth had literally zero flavor to it. We all wished we had tried the other ramen place instead right after trying our ramen. Would I come back? I will have to say definitely no. We do not live in Vancouver and I do not want to waste any meals on a place that did not taste good the first time we went.

Unlike many ramen spots that rely on a heavy tonkotsu (pork) broth, Maruhachi stands out by using a creamy chicken broth. It's hearty yet balanced and surprisingly light. I also loved that they offer side sauces so you can adjust the saltiness to your preference. The spice had a perfect kick -- more of a warming, throat spice that builds without overpowering the broth. The pork was incredibly tender, and the soft-boiled egg was cooked perfectly, with a rich, creamy yolk that was full of flavor. My fiance got the Pork Chashu bowl which she said was so full of flavor, she also was adding the broth from my ramen in it to add some more warmth and flavor to the bowl. The spot itself is small but very unique, and I love how they stay true to tradition. Service was good -- nothing over the top -- but efficient and fast. It also happened to be Sake Friday, so we picked up a bottle at 50% off - hard to complain about that math. The ambience was generally fine, but the staff were doing a photoshoot for their new menu right beside our table. The gyoza and rice bowl were great! The gyoza, which we ordered on the recommendation of our waiter when we told them we were looking for a vegetarian appetizer, were made with soy-based imitation meat that had a very meaty texture - simple but very tasty. The rice bowl also had the soy meat, but seasoned differently, with a more intense flavour, along with atsuage tofu and various vegetables. It was delicious and also seemed healthy. We liked the aburi cheesecake, but it was more lemony than we expected. The waiters who brought it out said the lemon was to cut the sweetness, but we actually felt like the lemon competed with the caramel flavour of the bruleed crust. The textures were amazing though. We really enjoyed our meal here and I wish I'd tried them sooner!
