    Tamago Ramen and original Ramen
    Tiff R.

The portion size was big for $15.90 (tamago Ramen) and the original Ramen was $10.90 the broth was made with a milky chicken broth and was not too heavy. A bit salty for me but the condiments helped balance it out. We added corn for extra. The restaurant was very small but the ramen came out within 10 minutes and the wait was not very long in the early morning (there was a small line right at opening time). The staff was friendly, efficient and welcoming. Lots of free parking around the area.

Small interior with limited seating. I got seated at a stool which was a bit inconvenient as there were no hooks underneath the table or any place to put your jacket/bag. Friendly service right when you walk in. They specialize in chicken based broth. I found it creamy and rich -- it hit the spot. I don't usually finish a whole bowl of ramen but I did here! It's a good option for something quick.

Maruhachi Ra-men is a chain ramen restaurant specialized in tori-paitan (creamy chicken broth). All the servers are japanese. Expect a short wait on weekend nights as this spot is quite popular in the neighborhood. *Cha Shu Tamago Ramen The slow-boiled chicken chashu was tender. Perfectly cooked soft boiled ramen egg. The jammy egg yolk is an indulgence. Yet the ramen is tooooo thin for my liking. The paitan soup was also pretty bland. Of course it is nowhere comparable to chicken broth ramen I've had in Japan and Hong Kong. However it's still a great alternative to satisfy my craving for tori-paitan in North America. You can also tell they don't add MSG as none of us felt thirsty after slurping up the whole bowl.

This place is located near the River Rock Casino in Richmond. When I went on a Sunday afternoon around 2 PM, the wait was only 5 minutes. I tried their original ramen ($15 CAD) and pork curry ($8 CAD). The entrees came out after another 10 minute wait. I loved the curry as it was rich in flavor. However, the ramen was a bit bland. The broth base does taste good though. The service here is 5 stars.

Chashu tamago ramen, spicy. And a pale ale

Stopped by for lunch today around 3pm and was seated immediately. It's a cozy spot, super lax workers, and chill vibe. I like how they have a little bar counter in the middle of the restaurant for individual diners - great for travelers fresh off the plane. This is by no means a bad review. It's the first time I've had a creamy chicken-based broth for ramen vs more traditional / common ones (eg tonkotsu, shoyu). I had the chashu tamago ramen, spicy and it was the most average tasting ramen I've had in the best way possible. The broth was rich, but plain and uninteresting. The thin noodles were abundant and had a nice texture. The chashu was thin if that's your vibe. Egg was cooked perfectly but that alone can't carry the bowl. Overall, the ramen left much to be desired. It's one of those bowls where that caddy on the side was put to great use. Poured on the salty sauce, went to town on the chili, and laid on the sesame seeds. It was a good bowl of ramen. Great for a rainy day. I've just had a lot better. 3/5, wouldn't mind stopping by again but wouldn't actively seek it out.

Cute Tiny place (50 capacity) . Ramen is very nice, the broth is of a velvety smooth taste that is always of great consistency. Great prices, friendly service, a must go to!!!

Came with 6 ppl and seated outside with no wait. Service was attentive and friendly. Ramen was really good. The egg is by far the best I've had. Gyoza and curry rice appetizers were delicious especially the curry rice. Char shu is pretty standard. We added more orders of noodles and soup base to fully fill us up. Will come back again.

Classic Shoyu Ramen ($16.50): good choice, but I preferred the creamy chicken broth in other dishes.

=== 1. VERDICT/VALUE Like chicken broth? Uno Beef Noodle across the street is busy? Just want some decent noodles in soup? Then Maruhachi may be the place for you! Good service and decent food await you here! === 2. FOOD Tamago Ramen ($14.40) With ramen it always starts with the broth and at Maruhachi it starts with the signature chicken broth which is creamy, rich, and tasty without being too salty or leaving a scratchy feeling in your mouth. The egg and slice of tender pork with noodles are a great complement to the broth...which I will be back for again soon! Classic Shoyu Ramen ($16.50) The server recommended this signature/seasonal dish, which is the only ramen bowl on the menu without chicken broth. It's a light as it gets here, as they do not have a shio ramen. But the broth is light, the menma good, and the pork is alright - not as good as the one the tamale ramen, but decent. === 3. SERVICE The service worked well in English for us; it sounded like it worked well for some other patrons who spoke Mandarin. The food was served reasonably quickly and they checked on us frequently. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It looks like a reasonably new/modern place, but small-ish in size - perhaps best for groups six in size or less. We sat outside which only had perhaps three to four tables, seating groups of 2 or 4. It was mostly sealed with transparent covers, heated by a single propane heater, which worked well enough. Wheelchairs and baby strollers would fit, perhaps better outside than in. Parking is a sport here, as the street parking is often full.

Simple and delicious! I had their Veggie Curry ramen and it was perfect. Not spicy at all and good flavor. The place was clean and the people were nice.

Short wait outside but great food inside! The egg was worth adding-and my spicy nutty broth was delicious. Cute little place to get a bite!

Ended the year with a hot bowl of ramen. I Can't think of a better way than a hot bowl ramen with the hearty creamy chicken broth. As always, lots of garlic chips is required for the best flavor My egg today was slightly undercooked but that's ok. This branch isn't that big but the table turnover is quite fast so even when there is a line outside the wait isn't that long. I am quite impressed and happy that they are keeping up with their Covid protocol. They are still sanitizing their chairs and table after the guests leave.

3 stars .. no "Wow" factor .. we are truly spoiled in Vancouver as our Ramen standard is getting higher and higher with each new entry into the Ramen Scene!! A great alternative for folk that likes to have their Ramen in a creamy chicken broth..as the founder of this chain intended..chicken being the more universal food for countries that do not eat pork, it opens up a different niche of the market ( but funny enough, they still serve Pork Chashu rather then giving guest a choice of Chicken Chashu! ) If you absolutely do not eat pork they have a Tan-men i.e. vegetables version for you! For me it is a change from the regular pork / seafood based ramen that is more popular in the World of Ramen. I tried the Original location in downtown Vancouver many many years ago and I did like it but not crazy about it as it was a fresh flavour for me and I especially like their "spicy" version. Fast forward to present and this Richmond location offers a great venue for the ones that do not dare driving downtown ( yes, many in Richmond find driving downtown a huge challenge! ). Service is friendly and the dining area is sparse in a good way, they also followed all protocol for the Covid check in procedure! My choice is Aka Ramen which is slightly different then their regular one as they added some chilli pickled radish to the soup, which gives it a slight tang, and with an extra squeeze of lemon gives it a refreshing taste. The Cha-shu Ramen comes with 4 slices of Pork Shoulder, tender and not overly fatty. Both bowls of ramen were done well but the noodles were slightly over cooked. Will ask for firmer texture next time! Parking can be an issue as this branch is located in an industrial area with only street parkings available. Busy during peak hours, so be prepared to wait in line!

My son loves this place :)

The food was awesome! Great service! . Yuuuuum! It had great ambiance as well. We ordered the Tamago Ramen! The only thing I didn't like was that we live more than a hundred miles away from this place . My son used a straw instead of the big spoon to slurp the broth LOL

Afuri Ramen had a anniversary promo sale on their yuzu shio ramen as advertised on Instagram page, so my friends and I got 3 of those. They were only $12 discounted from $17.50 regularly. Afuri's shio ramen comes with shio tare, chicken broth, chiyu, menma, greens, sous vide chicken chashu, egg, nori, yuzu, and thin noodles. In terms of taste, the ramen was not bad. The chicken was cooked well. It's a very light, citrusy, and refreshing ramen, rather than the bold, salty, oily, super flavorful ones i usually eat at other ramen places. Afuri's take on ramen is different for sure. On the downside, I thought the strong citrus flavors of yuzu and the other veggies overpowered everything in the ramen which im not a big fan of. Too tangy for me. The portion size of the ramen are slightly on the smaller side too. Service was OK. Wait time for the ramen was pretty long at about 20ish minutes. On the bright side, the servers were friendly and checked on our table regularly to refill waters and stuff. They were really quick in giving the bill when we requested it. All the staff said goodbye to us when we left which was nice. The dining area was spacious and modern. Clean as well. Most of the tables were long, shared communal tables with a selection condiments, chopsticks, and napkins. I kind of liked the chili paste they provided. It's not very spicy though. Gonna have to give Afuri Ramen 3 out of 5 stars mainly because the ramen was just ok in my opinion. I discovered that I don't like yuzu and its citrusy flavors in my ramen as much as i thought. If you don't mind that at all, Afuri Ramen is worth a try. Their yuzu shio ramen is still discounted to $12 until the end of this August in Richmond and Vancouver on weekdays. It's a great promo.

The ambiance is modern Asian, with concrete floors contributing to an industrial feel. Service Quality: During my visit on a Sunday, there were only two servers managing the entire restaurant. Despite this, I was seated right away for a late lunch service as I was dining alone. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, I was able to place my order promptly. However, it took a bit longer to receive my bill and make the payment. Menu Variety: Afuri Ramen and Dumpling offers an extensive menu with numerous ramen options and a variety of other appetizers. Additionally, they have an appealing drink menu. Food Presentation: I opted for the lunch combo, which included gyoza and tsukemen. Both dishes were neatly plated with evident care. The utensils--forks, chopsticks, and a spoon--were provided in a small plastic container on the side. Although I ordered pan-fried gyoza, I was served the deep-fried version instead. Despite this mix-up, I still enjoyed the dish without raising a complaint. Food Taste and Quality: The taste of the food was excellent, with a good balance of salt and spice. The freshness and heat of the dishes were commendable. The ramen noodles were cooked to perfection, and the tsukemen had a generous amount of meat. Portion Sizes: The lunch combo provided a satisfactory amount of food. However, considering the price, it would have been nice to have one or two more pieces of gyoza and a bit more ramen noodles. Drink Selection: The restaurant offers a good selection of cocktails. Since I visited for lunch, I only tried their homemade ginger ale, which was incredibly delicious and refreshing. I wish I had the recipe for it! Price and Value: I received a 20% discount on the lunch combo due to the day and time of my visit. This is something to look out for if you plan to dine here. Despite the discount, I felt that the portion sizes could have been more generous. Overall, I paid just under $30 for the drink, gyoza, and tsukemen. Overall Experience and Recommendation: Afuri Ramen and Dumplings may not be my top choice for ramen in Richmond, given the abundance of other options in the area. However, if you find yourself within a few blocks of this restaurant, it's worth a visit. I recommend trying their gyoza and homemade ginger ale, and you can't go wrong with any of their ramen choices.

We were first sat down with matcha to start with and the music surrounding us was serene and calming. Then came the high tea, compared to your usual high tea, without the Japanese fusion. This came with a lot of interesting treats. In the middle tier, there was your savory two different types of onigiri, savory rice cakes, and elevated salad with a jelly. The salad was incredible and unlike anything I've had before. The onigiris were good as they should be so was the rice cakes. Top tier and bottom tier consisted of the desserts one plate for me and one plate for my boyfriend. My favorite was the mango mochi. It was so creamy and delicious! The other dessert was solid too, I like the little mousse cake. I also liked the add on of a matcha sauce for the fruits. Tsujiri definitely transformed high tea into a Japanese version and it was well put. Both usually make me full. I do wish there was more options on savories you could have before eating the sweets, but this is a slightly different experience.

The yakitori flight was regular size (they also offer giant-sized skewers for individual order, not flight). The chicken was very soft and juicy, with a nice charcoal flavor, making it delicious. The beef had a slightly chewy texture, but the umami flavor was excellent. I really enjoyed this dish as well. The hand roll flight we chose included Aburi salmon and ikura, scallop and ikura, and hamachi and unagi. The seafood was pretty good, but the rice was too warm, which made the nori texture soft and soggy. The beef steak had a decent flavor, and while the texture was a bit chewy, the price was very reasonable. I noticed that ramen seems to be a very popular item. Next time, I'll try the ramen!
