We came at around 10am for breakfast. Before 11am you get 15% off on weekdays and on weekends it's 10% all day. Tea charge $1 per person Shiu mai dumplings - not bad. 2 shrimps in each. Strong mushroom flavour. The outside skin kind of melted though Steamed beef tendons- stomach was chewy. Tendon was okay soft but not the softest we've ever had. The flavour was okay Meat and shrimp fried dumpling - one of the better dishes. Very crispy and fresh. Nice chew. We liked the sa got on the inside that gave it a good crunch and sweetness. If you like a lot of meat in the filling, this is not for you Rice rolls with fish paste - this was disappointing. The inside fried tofu was not very crispy. The fish paste and rice roll had no flavour. Would not get again Pork octopus rice - rice isn't actually cooked in the claypot which is disappointing. Rice itself is cooked dry and there's no octopus flavoue in the pork octopus XO radish cake - this was actually pretty good. Lots of radish flavour and sausage flavour. Well fried and a good amount of spice from the XO sauce The dan san (sweet egg twists) my grandpa really liked because they melted in your mouth Overall service was Mediocre (as usual). Food came out pretty fast. The food can be a hit or miss.

Don't recommend Pan fried pork buns

Love the BBQ Pigeon favorite food here. Can't find anywhere else has it except here. Very juicy and delicious. You should definitely try this. Other than that was all very common food. Will rate Service for 5/10, not so good not so bad. Black Paper Duck tongue is good as well. Love the food here. Highly don't recommend is the Pan fried pork buns. It's not right.

Late morning dim sum at Joyful Seafood Restaurant. It was around 10:30am and probably closer to 11am by the time we selected our dishes and had it brought to us. So basically...Chinese style brunch! We ordered a lot of the usual fare for dim sum, but I did select one new item which we hadn't had before which was deep fried soft tofu. They were pretty good and I will definitely order them again whenever next we find ourselves here for dim sum again!  Service: Good Parking: Plentiful and free

Rated best dim-sum in greater Vancouver. I have so many favourites it's hard to pick one. The go-to items such as pork dumplings (siew mai) and shrimp dumplings (Har gow) were huge pieces and delicious. The steamed BBQ pork buns were fresh not frozen and steaming hot. Chicken feet, beef balls, deep fried squid. I could go on! I definitely recommend! On weekends be prepared to wait for a table!

I DIM SUM-thing CRAY-SEA like being too SHELLFISH and not sharing this LOBSTER sooner with you. The lobster sticky rice is truly a tasty dish you must order when dining at Joyful Seafood Restaurant in Burnaby. The lobster portion is quite small but is quickly forgiven with the big bold flavours.

You will have to make reservations even on a weekday, it is very popular unless you are willing to sit & wait. Our first time to Joyful & it was not disappointing. Ordered the usual & the food was good, typical dim sum menu. The chicken feet & the spare ribs were not that tender however the flavour is all there. Otherwise the rest of the items were flavourful, They are generous with the amount of tea leaves in your teapot, usually by the 4th - 5th refill, the tea is not that strong. Not here, even after several refills of hot water, the tea taste remains robust. That's because the tea leaves fills half the teapot. Service was good, they were efficient & polite. The restaurant has a nice ambiance. Definitely will come back again if I don't want to drive to Vancouver for dim sum.

Came here for dinner with 10 others Sunday night. We called ahead a couple days beforehand to make reservations. It's a little bit nicely decorated but isn't a super fancy ambience. There's a decent sized parking lot behind the restaurant that's shared with the other restaurants in the same plaza. To make ordering easier, we went with a 10 person set menu for $688 and ordered a veggie noodle dish for the one vegetarian present. It ended up being way too much food and probably could've fed 13 people. Overall I thought the dishes were okay but most tended toward the bland side. Good if you prefer to eat food with light oil and salt, but I personally would've preferred a little bit more salt in most of the dishes. Here's what we had (* marks my favorites): Fish maw and crab soup Assorted platter of meats - this included fried chicken knuckle, fried pork ribs, pork or beef slices, and marinated jellyfish Fried squab Fried shrimp paste on crab claws Stirfried shrimp and scallops with veggies *Lobster with e-fu noodles - they don't skimp on the garlic, and the noodles soaked up a lot of the garlicky lobster flavor... yum!! * Stirfried beef with veggies - not sure what kind of beef was used but it was incredibly tender Steamed fish over greens Steamed fish head Fried rice We ended the meal with a sweet soup and almond cookies.

This has become our "go-to" Cantonese Style Seafood Restaurant! They are specialized in preparing fresh-live seafood, most often their fresh seafood tank is filled with various kinds of local & imported seafood! Our latest discovery is their fresh "Razor Clams", they do not look much like the ones we are accustomed to but still a very very tasty shellfish; prepared very simply by steaming with minced garlic, green onion, you can absolutely taste the natural umami!! ( make sure you call them ahead to see if they are available, as seafood items are highly seasonal ) As a traditional Cantonese restaurant, they also serves dim sum daily during lunch hours! Service here is super friendly! Special mentions to Fiona, Linda & Sarah!! And of course the Owner / Manager Tandy!! Parking is free, weekends can be a challenge for both lunch & dinner, make sure you call ahead for reservation!

large chinese restaurant in burnaby (on kingsway and imperial), next to denny's, with solid dim sum. parking is available in the back. we came here with a party of eight. service was decent, you place your order and they bring it out, no push carts here.

delicious spot! so many options to choose from. would definitely recommend for large groups.

The three of us came here for the first time for dim sum and were pretty impressed with the ambiance and food quality. We arrived around 11:30 am with no reservations and waited for about 15 minutes. The place was packed with diners and people waiting. My rating is based on lunch only. The prices were on the high side due to Covid and inflation. There are more pros than cons (tables could of been further apart): - Great selection of dim sum items (vegetables, chicken, beef, pork, and tofu). - Cash or credit cards are accepted - Complimentary parking - Hours are from 9:30 am to 3 pm and 5 pm until 10 pm - Takeout is available - Service is prompt Tip: make reservations and bring family and friends so you can try more dim sum dishes! We will be back to try their dinner.

Recently changed from Starlight to new ownership -Joyful Seafood restaurant. Dim sum is good and service was excellent. Hope they keep it up. Really enjoyed the beef tendon, brisket and rice noodles dish. Only available after 10am.

Family dinner at Joyful last night. Booked by my uncle from out of town and my first time in the area. The restaurant was full already at 7pm. Good sign? My uncle did the ordering but the food was not bad. Tasty. The service was good, switched out dirty plates once and refilling teapot with hot water was quick. Provided us with almond cookies and red bean soup with tapioca was nice! Not bad for family dinners.

With about 9-10 people per table, we were treated to what felt like at least ten courses. There wasn't much time for photos, as conversation and catching up naturally took precedence. The standouts were the seafood fried rice and the green onion lobster and crab stir-fry -- rich, comforting, and generously flavoured, the kind of dishes that quietly anchor a long meal. It was a busy holiday weekend, and the restaurant was packed. Our original 7:00 p.m. reservation was delayed until 8:00 p.m., leaving many of us waiting outside in the cold. Once seated, the pacing felt off, with dishes arriving out of sequence, which gave the meal an oddly disjointed rhythm. A small apology or update from the staff would have been welcome, but none came. Overall, the food was very tasty, and I would consider returning -- particularly to explore more of their seafood offerings.

The food court itself is full of different Asian cuisines, and this stall definitely stands out. They offer a wide variety of Shanghai-style dim sum, including dumplings, wontons, rice cake, several meat noodle soups, and some combo rice dishes. I ordered the Sichuan Style beef noodle soup, and it was surprisingly delicious and spicy -- the broth was flavorful, and the beef was incredibly tender. Even though it's just a small food court stall, the quality of the dishes makes it worth a visit. Big size and very delicious. I'd ask for extra dipping sauce (or the chill oil if you like spicy). These can get messy if you don't be careful. Take a small bite of the skin first and sip the soup inside before diving in. The soup is very hot, so I usually pour it onto a spoon and drink it from there. #13 is translated as "Steamed Mini Pork Buns" in English and Shanghai Xiaolongbao in Chinese on the menu, which is misleading. When I ordered it last time, it turned out to be the same buns as #14, just steamed instead of deep-fried. They're large and not mini at all like traditional XLB. Personally, I didn't enjoy them as much as the fried version and wouldn't order them again. They tend to stick together and aren't very to-go friendly. #14 is the star here, and it's absolutely worth coming back for.

They were pretty busy on a Friday night, although we were able to get a table because some reservation didn't show up. Medium sized interior with mostly booth seating, and the entrance is narrower and expands to the back. It's a personal hotpot so each person gets their own stove and order their own soup base. Ordering is done via a tablet. They also have cooked dishes like skewers, fried mantou and other things on the menu in addition to the hotpot ingredients. Some of the items cost extra and are labeled with the cost. In the center, they have the sauce bar, desserts bar of mostly Chinese jellos and also an ingredients bar with things like spam and quail eggs. I got the satay broth and it was decent.
