    Mixed donair
    Katherine C.

All of the food I've ordered here has been amazing and delicious! I've ordered the mixed donair and the meat as well as the falafel was super flavorful (you can tell they use a good amount of spices to season their food) I also got their Kabuli plau (lamb shank), which was tender and fell off the bone as I was eating it. The flavor of the lamb shank was wonderful, I really enjoyed it with the turmeric rice and the tzatziki. The restaurant doesn't look modern or fancy, but the authentic food is worth it to come-I would definitely recommend this restaurant to others . What a great and reasonable price for the amount of food you get too. I'm looking forward to coming back here again

I've worked in the area for over a year and I've always been curios. lucky for me my coworker I was working with highly recommended this place so we stopped in. Man I'm kicking myself for not taking the plunge earlier. The staff was straight business but pleasant. The food was outstanding, I love Donairs s as nd have been handed disappointment after disappointment, but this place was by far in my top 3 for donair spots in the area and surrounding areas. The protein was perfectly seasoned causing a party in your mouth. The portions for the prices your paying for was outstanding. Especially in this time of higher costs and tighter budgets, it was a breath of fresh air. The ambience is basic in a good way, it was quiet and chill and not to crowded. I highly recommend stopping in for lunch if you're in the area.

Very clean, great food (doner) and high-quality family restaurant! The appearance and ambiance aren't modern or luxurious, which made us hesitate before entering, but we made the right decision! Unfortunately, a man at the table next to us was sick and didn't cover his mouth, so we decided to leave and eat in the car. However, this didn't affect our review, as the experience was otherwise great. It wasn't the restaurant's fault that an inconsiderate individual, who clearly didn't understand that if you're sick, you should stay home or opt for takeout, chose to cough openly--even in the faces of his own children!

Never been to Afghan Turkish Cuisine although I've driven by it many, many times. It's located around the corner from Ramen Gaoh. We dropped in on a Saturday (around 5:00pm) and it was fairly busy. A lot of takeout/to go orders by customers. The inside has three tables (10 seats) and a couple window counter seats to people watch. It's no frills; order and pay at the counter. They did have a TV playing some music videos in the background. The menu consists of Kabuli plau (Afghan pilaf), platters, donairs, appetizers and desserts. FYI: for the three sauces, you can ask/choose which sauces you want. - Turkish coffee ($2.50) - Lahmacun ($3.99) - super thin but the squeeze of lemon on top gave it a nice acidity. Perfect to share. - Lamb shank platter ($14.99) - all their platters come with rice, salad, pita bread and three sauces (garlic, hummus and tzatziki). The garlic was my favourite; if you're a garlic fan, this is more garlicky than you can imagine! Tasty stuff. The lamb shank itself was tender, yet still retained a good bite to it. - Adana platter ($12.99) - both beef skewers were flavourful and well seasoned. - Chicken platter ($12.99) - J's dish which came with a pile of chicken. He really enjoyed the hot sauce that came drizzled on top and asked for more. Would return to ATC for more eats.

Small gig can house almost 10 - 12 heads only. They always. say good things come in small packages and this is one great example of that. Getting busy when i came but well its a small place so 5 clients it will look busy already,10 at a time would look like a disaster. Smell of grilling meat will say hello when you enter the place. There few free parking near the restaurant if you are LUCKY. Looks like this is a family owned business . Menu is not complicated. i got the mix platter it is pide beef and shave chicken with 3 kind of sauces, salad and kabuli rice....yellow cooked rice somewhat adds on my hunger every time i will visit a restaurant like this. The blending of flavors and the beef and chicken is like an atomic bomb that explodes inside my mouth on every bite, meat is somewhat crunchy and the chicken was tender and cooked into perfection, lets say the way i want it. portion is huge but since i thought this will be my last meal so i ate every thing in my plate.(holy cow my blood sugar will shoot again later) I also order a slice of baklava dessert, when i was in Turkey every single day i ate 1 slice of this plus the great Turkish tea in there it was a small slice but in here it was huge. Baklava is a rich sweet dessert made of layers of filo filled with chopped nuts and sweetened and held together with syrup, a slice of this you get approximately 230 total calories but with the size of their slice i am not sure. I love this place, i like the ceiling when i came by chance my outfit matches their ceiling hahahhaha. Small place but still they managed to showcase their culture with some decors and frame inside, Noise level is just ok, small place but neat the only problem is the smell of the food will really stick on your clothes. Good for family of small group and kids friendly, they accept cash, card, and credit. I had a very pleasant experience eating here, the guy from the cashier also the one taking order was so friendly.Kudos to you and to all the good tasting dishes in your menu. No doubt i shall return

Cheap and tasty donair shop. Parking is available along Hastings on the weekends, as well as on the side streets. The inside feels a bit like someone's cluttered home. Some can say it is just very efficient use of space. The dining area is fine though. I was scratching my head at the picture of the Taj Majal on the wall though. Staff were friendly. The donairs come in 2 sizes, and honestly could be a wee bit bigger, even for the large. With that said, I'm probably spoiled by all the burrito places out there. There are plenty of sauces and fillings to choose from. The food was overall quite delicious. Definitely worth checking out if one wants a donair in this area. I don't think there are any other places that sell this around here.

Came here to try the kabuli plau and the afghan platter. Omg both of them are so good and so worth the money you paid for. Expensive for like a shady store but it was very big portion. Ohh yeah the place is a bit shady but definitely the place you should go if you crave for afghani or turkish food. The kabuli plau was really good but the afghan turkish platter was just damn amazing. It definitely got everything and made it sublime. This place is really recommended from me. Cheers!

Special with chicken and beef piled atop a delicious pita with pulao rice and salad

This is my jam right here! Legit Afghan Turkish food (not that I've actually been to Afghanistan or Turkey, but I digress). Great flavour and value. My new go-to is the special 12.99 with chicken shawarma and some manner of beef but it's hard to distinguish amongst the delicious melange. It's a mountainous affair beginning with a layer of pita, atop which is spread various sauces like tzaziki, hummus, garlic mayonnaise, lots of meat mixed with pulao rice (consisting of delicate tender raisins, saffron and carrots), finished with a row of salad on top including lettuce, thinly sliced raw onion, parsley, finally flanked on either side by sliced tomatoes. It's a masterpiece I tells ya! Hard to finish in one sitting especially if you have been intermittent fasting. Good for at least two meals, savour every bite. My old favourite was the mixed plate, 11.99$ which seems very popular with other patrons as over half the people ordered it last time I was there. Cannot blame them, it is delicious. Try the special though, not sure how long it will be around or if it's one of those permanent specials (fingers crossed!) but definitely check it out while you can. My bf loves the Adana plate, I'm more of a shawarma person but it looks amazing as well. Parking we usually find on Hastings street as there is a small parking lot beside the restaurant on Willingdon but it is usually full, so we've always found parking within a couple blocks down Hastings. By bus there are loads of options as it's right on the corner of Hastings and Willingdon. Atmosphere is alright and many people do takeout, but it's nice to have it fresh on a plate even if you can't finish it all in one sitting. Come here you won't regret it!

I decided to check this place out since it's so close to my house. Upon arrival the restaurant its self is small, clean, and overall a good size for a quick bite to eat. I ordered the pide and the chicken platter. I didn't realize there was two different types of pide and the one we got was like a flat bread with meat and salad on top. It was pretty good but was dry due to not coming with any sauce! They also charge a $1.00 extra for sauce which is ridiculous in my opinion. If you give customers enough sauce they wouldn't need extra but a tablespoon isn't. I ordered the chicken platter which again the meat was delicious but my salad came with no dressing at all! And I had 3 tablespoons of different sauces/hummus and wasnt enough so I went to ask for more and they didn't even fill up the container for the sauce but they charge extra for it. Overall the food is good but this isn't authentic Turkish food. I think it's more afghan if anything but the portion size is good and the meat is delicious!

{This establishment was previously under the name Saray and has opened now under new management} Mmmm, brings a whole new meaning to "Sunday Turkey Dinner"! We ordered from Skip the Dishes and found portions generous & prices reasonable. Manti are dime sized dumplings served in an sharp zesty garlic sauce. I highly recommend the entire party partake so everyone's breath is equally potent ;) The Dolma's had a pleasantly substantial mint flavour to them. The platters were huge and the roast lamb had a beautiful sweet mustard sauce. Tabbouleh and other salads were fresh with quality ingredients. Had to 'google' some of the unfamiliar menu items - only adding to the fun of expanding one's culinary borders. Would like to sample from the variety of deserts another time! When an item we had ordered was not available, the owners called personally and were accommodating and kind.

Kabuli Pulao ($13) Lamb shank is hidden in the rice
    Fiona A.

There are so many options but my favorite is Kabuli Pulao ($13). It is super tender, melt in your mouth lamb shank with a bed of delicious rice cooked with sweet sweet carrots and raisins. Comes with a side of salad, pita and not one, but 3 very generous portions of different sauces and dips. The garlic dip is really really good. You order, pay and pick up your food at the counter. There are about 5 tables and some window booth seats in the restaurant (self serve). It's unfortunate they're not in my location zone for Skip the Dishes, I would order this for lunch all the time. Taste: 5/5 Service: N/A Value: 5/5

I have such conflicted feelings about this place. I'll start by saying the food is awesome! I've tried all their appetizers and a few of their desserts, the food is always great. My go to is the mix platter. You get a salad, a few sauces, a mix of meat, and rice. The platter is soooo good! It's cheap, filling and the flavors are fantastic! I can never finish a full platter in one sitting. The reason I'm conflicted about this place is because more often than not, the service is pretty bad. I've only ever had one good experience. The girl behind the counter was sweet, asked how my day was going, etc. I've been shorted money back (my fault for not counting before leaving I guess), I made an order for pick up and they gave the order out to someone else.. somehow I got attitude as if it was my fault even though I was understanding and gave them zero grief. The guys behind the counter are rarely pleasant to talk to. I feel like I'm bothering them for ordering usually. I think I've only had 2 good experiences. It really depends who is working. I love the food though. It ranks pretty high on my favorite places for cheap eats list. I only ever order through Skipthedishes now. It seems to be going well so far. Zero grief, but still get the good food.

The mix platter is $11 before taxes and is so delicious and flavourful my favourite place to go to for mix platters big portions!

My favourite place to go to when i crave any kind of rice platter. the first time i tried food from here was when we ordered at work. All my co workers were addicted as well. and of course i had to make my bf and the friends hooked to..... They do sell donairs as well but seems like platters are what they are most known for. The mix platter is so delicious it comes to $11 before taxes and the portions are huge!! im stuffed by the time i eat half already.... You can also order on skip the dishes they usually have some kind of coupon code and live close by!! Free parking on the streets. they accept credit/debit or cash as well!

We ordered a kebab meat platter and it definitely delivers on portion size. The standout for me was the grilled meats, especially the lamb chops and chicken kebabs. They were well-seasoned, nicely charred, and not dry (which is where a lot of places miss the mark). The rice was fragrant and paired well with everything, though pretty standard. Service was good. The atmosphere leans traditional and a bit dated, but it fits the vibe of the place.
