Daddy's grill is delicious! I was mostly intrigued by the name of the restaurant and when I now try it, the food is really good. This is a Persian restaurant that specializes in kebabs, and despite the variety of dishes on the menu, they have few options - chicken, ground beef, salad, grilled tomato, basmati, and naan. We got the #3. Cholo Vaziri which has both chicken and seasoned ground beef skewer served in salad and rice, so we added a naan for $2 extra to try a bit of everything. The chicken is quite juicy and the ground beef is very juicy and flavorful. Rice is perfectly cooked and the salad is refreshing. The naan is huge. The provided tzatziki sauce is quite garlicky and complements well with everything. My only complaints are minor - I'd love more tzatziki (possible with $0.75 surcharge) and parking is almost impossible and spots are very tight. Otherwise, this is an excellent restaurant read more

I've past this place dozens of times and finally found the right time to go. The friendly service and open kitchen was a treat. It was mid afternoon and still 3/4 full. A clean typical diner. I had the beef kebab and it was delicious with lots of fresh naan and made so fresh with a generous sprinkle of chopped parsley and a squeeze of lemon. Pickled veggies are perfect to rejuvenate the palate in between bites. I'd go again just have to be patient with the road construction currently (11/2024) going on. read more

Decent Persian place around No5 and Cambie. Don't let the name fool you. It's not western food. Basically this place is Cazba meets Richmond. Parking is available in the lot next to the building. Not too many spots. The seating area is L shaped, and the place isn't open too late. By 1730 half the seats are already place on the tables. Staff are friendly but the service is slow. Some customers in front of us were loudly complaining. My food also took a while to arrive. The kebab platters aren't arranged too logically on the menu. Basically there is a choice of skewers (chicken or beef), and a choice of carbs (pita or rice). I confused myself and ordered the pita by accident. The pita is hard and dry. Get the rice ($1 more) instead. You can thank me later. Knock 0.5 stars off for the confusing menu. Pricing is definitely more than Cazba, so it's not particularly worth the trip out here. But it's not a bad choice if one wants this kind of food in the area. read more

Absolutely delicious! We had the platters with chicken/beef/rice, chicken/beef/pita and I had the beef/pita platter. It says it's ground beef but was so meaty and juicy and the chicken also very tender and moist. They make their own pita, it's chewy, crispy and big. Koobideh is flavored well! The service is very, very good. The only critique I have is that the menu is a bit limited. It really only has kabob. There is no Persian tea, stews, or mast-o-khiar, and they were out of doogh when we went in. Ambiance is nice! A bit busy though so I'd recommend calling ahead. read more

I was starting to get tired of the trek to North Vancouver for our go-to Persian spot whenever visiting Vancouver, so this time wifey and I decided to try a place we'd heard a lot about - Daddy's Grill. I ordered the Cholo Vaziri - one skewer of juicy chicken and one skewer of seasoned ground beef, served with basmati rice. Wifey ordered the Cholo Kebab - two skewers of seasoned ground beef, served with basmati rice. At all Persian restaurants, my preferred method is to get a bit of meat, a bit of rice, and a bit of grilled tomato in each bite. And at Daddy's Grill, each bite was delicious - the kebabs were juicy and flavorful, the tomato added a nice contrasting flavor, and the rice was a decent foundation for it all. There's no atmosphere to speak of, and parking is very limited and extremely hectic if not dangerous due to the intense traffic and small sized parking lot adjacent to the very busy street. Seating is very limited, too. Food is adequate but really nothing special. Nothing about the experience would compel me to return here vs. go to better Persian restaurants in the region. Hands down the best Persian food in Richmond. What once was a small take out shop with little room to sit is now a full scale restaurant. When they moved over a spot (a little while ago now) they did a nice and tasteful renovation. Simple and clean with lots of seats. The service is always quick, friendly and attentive. Now let's talk about the food. So delicious- I mean everything on the menu. The meats are flavourful, well seasoned and juicy. The fresh baked naan seals the deal big time. Living in Richmond my default is always Asian food but second to that is Middle Eastern and this place is tops in my book I wish I lived a little closer but the drive isn't bad. This spot is sort of a hidden gem in Richmond. I discovered it through my parents because they were raving about how good their wraps were. So of course I had to see for myself. I've only ever gotten take out from here and have tried a few different things now. They have a fairly small menu - a few meat and veggie options over rice or in a wrap. I've tried both their mixed (beef and chicken) wrap and their chicken wrap. I'm not the biggest fan of beef or red meat so I definitely enjoyed the chicken wrap more. The meat was perfectly juicy and spiced so well! I also loved the sauce they put in the wrap. Beware, their wraps are massive. I put myself in a food coma every time I have one of them. The yogurt sauce, salad, and yellow rice made the perfect combination platter. If you're not feeling like a big meal there are also pita options for a little cheaper too. And despite being a bit snobby about my food, I loved that the menu was simple and not overwhelming with choices. Only downside to this place is that the parking is a bit scarce in this plaza and there isn't a lot of seating. You order at the cashier, sit down to eat, and pay at the front when you're finished. Service was great and the portions were generous. The only dish that I ordered and tried was Cholo Kebab (2 skewers of juicy seasoned ground beef, served with basmati rice, saffron, grilled tomato and house salad). The ground beef tasted excellent. The dish was quite healthy that had less greasy. It cost $9.99 + tax. The thing that I didn't like was the environment. The interior of the restaurant looked simple and crude. Flies were flying around when eating the dish. Customers ordered food at a cashier and a chef in the kitchen would cook the food. It took a while for the chef to cook the food and the server to bring the dish to the customers. Personally I felt it was good enough to try this restaurant once. read more

We came by to grab take out because my boyfriend really likes this place and I have never been here before. The owner at the restaurant took our order and he was pretty friendly. I came by around 1:30pm it wasn't busy inside but I can see they are preparing a large take out order. We ordered the shwarama and a platter. The flavor of the meat of the wrap was fantastic it was smoky from the grill but I wish there was more veggies and sauce inside. The ratio of filling to wrap was a little off for me. The platter was really good I really enjoyed their tzaziki sauce with the kebab. The salad was also nice and refreshing. Small restaurant but enough tables; we saw a lot of people take out. Friendly staff of three men working behind the counter. They sold me on the fresh bread that was baking in the oven behind them so I ordered the beef wrap and hubby had beef skewers on rice. You can watch the meat being cooked over the fire behind the counter. Beef had a light and almost airy texture, not heavy or greasy. Bread was good and fresh but they could have stuffed the wrap with more meat and veggies. Left happy but with room for dessert. Off to the closest bubble tea place now. read more

[Who's your daddy??] At first glance, this doesn't look like a place that one would stop and expect a great meal. The red and green awning indicating Pizza and Kebabs along with some text in Farsi wouldn't really draw you in... at least not me. However, looks can be deceiving. I've been here several times and this place is a hidden gem. I was introduced to it by a few Persian coworkers who frequent the place. The feature here is the beef Kebab Kobideh. You get 2 LONG BBQ-ed skewers of Halal beef on a huge pita (almost 1 foot in diameter). The pita is made in house from scratch and cooked in a stone pizza oven after you order. (Make sure you get the pita - much better than the rice option in my opinion) The dish is served with a roasted tomato and a side of Ceasar salad with Taziki sauce. The wraps are equally delicious - pretty much the same thing as the Kebab Kobideh dish but with one less skewer and in a handheld form. I'd highly recommend this place - definitely worth a try. My only suggestion is to call and order ahead even if you decide to dine in. It's a mom and pop shop and there's usually only one guy running the show. read more
