Granville Island Public Market - Jamaican Jerk Chicken Patty

San Francisco to Vancouver, BC series:…read more San Francisco is surrounded by many different islands like Alcatraz Island, Treasure Island and Angel Island. Vancouver is surrounded by different islands such as Salt Spring Island, Mayne Island and Vancouver Island. There is an island inside Vancouver which has fresh local organic food and drinks. It reminds me of the Ferry Building in San Francisco but with an indoor Farmers Market. Inside you can go on a food crawl and enjoy anything from the current peak season of Dungeness crab from British Columbia to candied salmon. The food inside is all local vendors. It's located around the salty waters of the Pacific Ocean via False Creek and it's called Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver. On a Fall stroll with the sun out I landed at the Granville Island Public Market in Vancouver where the party people go ( no political party). Inside you will find many different foods from Thai at Sen Pad Thai from Angus An Vancouver Magazines Chef of the Year in 2025 to cheesy pizza slices like some in SF. On my food crawl I tried Celine's Fish and Chips and I got generous pieces of halibut which was tasty but the batter was flakey like some in SF. You don't need to drown it in sour lemon squeezes to give it flavor because the tartar sauce does the job. The fries were crispy and not salty like some in SF. I then tried the Siegel's Bagels. These Montreal style bagels take me back when I had these style of bagels in Montreal, Quebec baked in wood fire. It was cheesy a bit flakey a bit salty like some I saw on my social media feed but it was so delish. I am not voting on whether Montreal style bagels are better than New York style bagels. For dessert I went to Lee's Donuts for some handmade donuts. I got the purple yam Ube donuts which was not too sweet and also the lemon iced donut which was not too sour like some in SF. I then I washed it down with some Granville Island Lager. This is a great spot in Vancouver for a food crawl by the salty waters of the Pacific Ocean via False Creek. It's Tuesday and skip the "election" go on a different path and "direction" and head to the Granville Island Public Market for a food crawl they have a better "selection" with the Vancouver local diverse food scene making a global "connection" Vancouver celebrates it's diverse "peoples" when it comes to comparing different cities there are no "equals" at Granville Island Public Market they have local foods and food from other regions like Montreal Bagels at "Siegels"but remember like in Vancouver just like in SF don't feed those "Seagulls"

A great place to get steps in…read more We kicked off our week by spending the first half of our Monday here. Lots of food choices. A abundance of shops to get souvenirs. There was live music in the middle of the square where there was outdoor seating. We enjoyed a box of donuts while we figured out a brunch game plan. This gem is a must when you're in town.

Driving and parking is a challenge. 300 + businesses. 11 restaurants & bars. 3 breweries/distilleries. 60 room hotel. Art, culture, water front, water taxis. And of course, the Public Market was crazy busy. Oh, when eating outside, be alert of the seagulls, birds, etc. 50+ businesses just in this market. Ambiance - Amazing history, from a waste land to the thriving business it is today!! Entertainment; see pictures or their websites. Service - Good. Price - Tourist prices, but still very reasonable. Owner Comment - Congrats on all your success since the 1970s. We became customers and regulars since the 1990s.

There's so much to browse and stimulate the senses, from fresh seafood and grass-fed meats to local cheeses, pastries, fresh fruits and vegetables, and prepared food. Whether you're craving pizza, a hot dog, or something more international, there's plenty to choose from and, of course, beer and wine. Lee's Donuts and Oyama Sausage are two well-known stops, but part of the charm is wandering around and seeing what catches your eye. Beyond the market, there are cozy independent artisan studios and specialty shops, with opportunities to watch glassblowers, potters, and weavers at work. Dining options range from small mom-and-pop eateries to upscale restaurants. It's a fun place to spend a few hours browsing, eating, and exploring. If time allows, take a water taxi across False Creek. It's $4.50 CAD/person and gives you a nice perspective of the city from the water. Happy Travels!

Despite the name of Dumpling King, it's actually a queen busily making dumplings at the front. You are expected to use the self serve kiosk for ordering, but she was super sweet and was helpful despite being busy making the food. You can also buy a variety of frozen dumplings to take home, although they do a brisk business, so don't dilly-dally or you will lose out! The dumplings were ready in a flash, and while the food court was busy, it was well kept and clean, and there was a lady making sure it stayed that way! Overall, I thought for the price, the quality and quantity were excellent!

But at the shopping today so decided to try again seeing the decent reviews It was all self serve as it was difficult to communicate with the lady. Nice lady but she doesnt know english. we bought the pan fried pork dumplings and the wonton soup. the wait time was fairly long. The pan fried pork dumplings was nicely pan fried and juicy inside. The soup of the wonton was good and wasnt the powder soup base. However the wontons were overcooked and fell apart. The filling of both dumplings were quit similar
