We noticed that they are running $8.99 special for a couple of dishes and we wanted to give it a try. I ordered the koobideh which comes with rice. It was good and a decent amount for the price. We also got the zereshk polo ba morgh which is a chicken dish that comes with rice as well. We liked that dish too. We also ordered a glass of their homemade dough. Overall we liked our food and drink and $8.99 for each dish is a good deal. One thing that can be improved is the cleanliness of our table as you can see in the picture.

First Persian food experience, and definitely not my last. My cousin works with a lot of middle Eastern refugees and has been to the Middle East several times, so she knows her stuff when it comes to Middle Eastern food. She wanted to take me out here to have me try it out, and being a fan of many spices and a fan of Lebanese food, I agreed. *perisan tea ($1.99): essentially red tea served alongside a saffron rock candy stick. The tea was almost flavorless without the candy (consider that I never add extra sugar to my tea, so this is saying something), so I swirled it in and it became 10x better. *glass of doogh ($1.99): plain yogurt mixed with mint, water, salt, and pepper. This was really creamy and satisfying! *mirza ghasemi ($8.99): barbecued eggplant dip served with pita bread. The dip was smokey, which we loved, and the pita was nice and light. Actually, so nice, that we took extra home. *vaziri ($13.99 as a Friday special, $16.99 regular): combination of one skewer, ground beef, and one skewer of boneless chicken breast served with saffron rice and grilled tomato. The meats were juicy and cooked well, the rice was flavorful yet light, and the tomato was the cherry on top. *baghali pollo ($16.99): whole lamb shank with dill rice. The lamb was tender and juicy and the rice was flavorful without being oily. The hostess was super friendly and personable, which we really appreciated. Garage parking is tight at the back of the restaurant, but it's worth braving to enjoy the food here.

    The best chicken in town.

Really authentic kabobs, loved the chicken and the grilled tomato. Lots of great options on the menu!

I was here a number of years ago and that started my love of Persian food. After a long hike, I was happy I could come here to grab a meal to recharge. We were seated anywhere we liked - it's a huge restaurant and there's patio seating too. They have daily specials and I got the baghali polo - dill rice with broad beans served with a whole lamb shank. The lamb was a great portion, moist, and fall-of-the-bone tender, but I didn't like the sweet marinade they used. The dill rice was really good and the broad beans were nice too. I think I'll get their regular lamb shank instead or their beef kababs which are my favourite.

Back in North Van means checking out another Persian restaurant. Cazba is well known and has a second location downtown (on Davie's Street). It's located off the main strip but ridiculously close to Zeitoon Restaurant and Yaas Grill House. All the Persian places in one spot. I dropped in on a Saturday afternoon (around 3:45pm). The place was half full; pretty good given the odd off hour timing. The inside is spacious with several tables and a few TV's playing old NBA playoffs (random) and the Food Network. Service is lacking even though there seem to be and endless body count of waitresses and busboys mulling about. I had to request water multiple times. The menu is a small one pager split into appetizers, salads/soups, main courses and desserts. - Lamb shank (baghali polo) ($11.99) - dill rice with broad beans served with a whole lamb shank. The amount of dill rice that you get is massive but somehow I ate it all. It also came with a piece of bread (and randomly has a raw onion underneath it). The lamb shank itself was tender, fall off the bone. Good but some vegetables with this dish would be nice. 3.5 stars.

Great Persian restaurant in the North Shore. Parking is available in the lot behind the restaurant. The inside is very classy, with wood panelling and chandeliers. However, during the summer months, the outdoor patio is the place to be. Staff were friendly and professional. The naan bread here is served with some chunks of raw onions. Not sure if this is typical, but onions are tasty. I had the vaziri. It comes with a skewer of ground beef and a skewer of chicken. The ground beef stick is definitely interesting as it looks almost pre-molded. The chicken is very good. Nice and juicy. There is also a grilled tomato half, and a serving of rice (some of it covered with saffron). Delicious. Definitely will be back at some point to try their other dishes. Recommended.

We went on a Wednesday night and there were a few small tables. We had the fesenjan and the lamb shank. My husband was curious about the gherimeh so they took the initiative to give us a plate of crispy rice with it on the house. There was also pita bread and onion after ordering our meals. Portions are large. The fesenjan came with a plate full of rice and we chose salad with the lamb shank. The lamb shank was flavourful and fell off the bone. We packed enough food to pack for lunch the next day for the both of us!

I did not write down the name of our server but she was a young lady with very very long hair. We were a big group of 10 people and she took really good care of us. I thought the food was very good, we had gheyme (beef, yellow peas and tomato paste stew), cubideh (hamburger meat kebab), kashka bademjan (eggplant dip), and nun (bread). Basmatti rice was also very good, the only thing that I did not like much was the doogh (salty yogurt drink), but I cannot quite place why. Oh, we also had tadiq, wich is a crispy layer of rice that forms at the bottom of the pan, and it was delicius, with very crispy potatoes. This seemed to be a very traditional Persian restaurant and we enjoyed our food very much.,

One of the best places to eat in Vancouver. They do have several locations. I had already tried the Cazba on Davie Street and decided to try the one in North Van as well, since I was in the area. The lamb shank is cooked so well. Super tender and flavourful. It comes with a side of either dill rice, white saffron rice or garden salad. I opted for half dill rice and half garden salad. They do charge an extra $2 to do half-half on the sides. The portions are humungous, so it is totally worth it! The dill rice in my opinion, was not that great, and I will order the white rice instead next time. The garden salad could have a bit more dressing, but overall it compliments the dense flavor of the meat well.

My Iranian friend took me here, raving about the food and how authentic it was. This would be my first time trying Iranian food in a restaurant and it was a good experience. It was not too crowded on a weekday lunch and the service was good. Not sure if it was also because my friend spoke Persian to the staff. We were given an appetizer to try (not sure what it was called) and it was interesting. It tasted nice but not my fave thing. I had the vaziri which was really good. The beef kebab was different, not made of minced meat as previously thought. It was tasty and tender. Likewise the chicken was also juicy and soft. The spices used were subtler compared to Indian/south East Asian spices which I'm used to. The lamb shank was also very good. The portions were big and I had leftovers to box. It was definitely value for money. Try the Persian ice cream which was certainly different. Pistachio flavored with rosewater. Not exactly a common flavor. It might be an acquired taste though it was not horrible. I will go back there again or maybe to the Robson location if I want some Iranian food.

I love love love Persian food. But, I'm not a fan of going to new-to-me Persian restaurants. Most of the time, the food at these new places just doesn't stack up when compared to my favorite places. So, I had low expectations when we decided to check out Cazba. We got to the restaurant around 3pm on a weekday, and it was still fairly busy for that time of day. I ordered the Chelo Kabab Soltani (one steak kabob, one ground beef kabob), while the wifey ordered the Jujeh Soltani (one chicken kabob, one ground beef kabob). The food came out within minutes, and I quickly started to inhale my food. Barg? Great! Koobideh? Good! Chicken? Decent! Mixing the grilled tomato into the rice? Awesome! Not only did I wolf down my own food, I stuffed myself silly with half of my wife's. That's when you know a place is good, you keep eating past content, past full, and past uncomfortable!

One of their specialties, apparently. Store is clean. Service is good, people are nice. Service pretty quick too. Prices are reasonable. The food is the problem. I ordered the chicken shawarma plate with greek salad. Veg/salad are fresh and fine. Pickles were fine. But the star of the show, the chicken, was extremely bland, underseasoned, and flavourless. The chicken itself was cooked nicely, not dry. But it needs seasoning. The hummus was also tasteless, and they put WAY too much olive oil on top. The olive oil wasnt very good either, not sure if its actually 100% EVOO because it doesnt have much olive oil taste. The rice was way overcooked and mushy. Theres no excuse for serving that. The sauces were a joke. The guy recommended the garlic sauce and hot sauce. These are my normal go-to's in any shawarma place. The garlic sauce needs....garlic. Can barely taste any garlic. Tasted like a generic white creamy suace with no garlic flavour. It should be very strongly garlic flavoured. Add a ton more garlic to it pls. The hot sauce I asked him about beforehand, and he said its "pretty hot." I asked for extra sauce too. Turns out it tasted like watered down tomato paste with no heat at all. zero. I dont know if they forgot the chili or something when they made this sauce. And since I asked for extra, my pile of chicken was drenched in this watery tomato sauce. not good. Overall, service fine. Pricing fine. Food, needs a lot of work. I wont be back, and cannot in good faith recommend their Shawarma chicken, hummus, hot sauce, or garlic sauce. Maybe the other stuff is good, I dont know.

Seems like the Pan items take longer to prepare, so it took awhile for the order to come out. Worth the wait in my opinion though. I loved my Vegetarian Denver Omelet Pan. It was piping hot, and the Omelet was so fluffy! This dish was a definite winner for me. One of the best things I've ordered in all the times that I've come here. Next time we came I ordered Fries and Cheese, with a bowl of Levantine Lentil soup. Mom had the Shawarma Chicken Pan, and my daughter had the Pesto Avocado Egg Wrap. The first thing that came out was my Levantine Lentil soup. I wished that they had brought it out later though. I don't like eating before everyone else's food has arrived, and it was quite awhile before the rest of the food arrived. Probably due to the Shawarma Chicken Pan since as I said before, that the Pan items seem to take longer to prepare. I took a few spoonfuls of my soup every few minutes just so I could enjoy at least few spoonfuls of it while it was still somewhat hot, but I would have much preferred for the soup to have been brought later, together with all the rest of the food. I felt guilty taking those few spoonfuls, but then the longer I waited...the colder my soup got. Next time I will tell them to bring the soup out later, when all of the food is ready to bring to the table. My fries and cheese came out after the soup. This also came before the other orders were ready. When it came, the server said she would bring some forks for us to eat the fries, and also some sour cream to go with the fries. Holy smokes...she took ages to come back to us. How long does a person need to go grab a few forks and a small container of sour cream?! I think the Shawarma Chicken Pan didn't look quite as impressive as the Omelet Pan I'd had earlier in the week. It was just chicken in the Pan. My Vegetarian Denver Omelet had been a lot more colourful than the Chicken. The dish did come with fries and they also gave my mom some bread as well. None of it very colourful though. I think if my mom wants chicken at this place, then we'll stick to ordering wraps for her. They seem to do very nice wraps at this place. My daughter had enjoyed the Pesto Avocado Egg Wrap before so this was her second time ordering it. For Pan dishes, I'd recommend the Halloumi Pan that I had on a previous visit and the Vegetarian Denver Omelet Pan.

When I first arrived home and took the salad out of the bag my mind forced an involuntary laugh out of my mouth. That's how small the salad was. I mean for nearly $18. The Chicken itself was well seasoned. Tasted Mediterranean. The Quinoa tasted older than a restaurant should serve. The Tabouleh. Because it was not prepared fresh there was no lemon juice, and that's a must for Tabouleh. Underwhelming really. The dressing it came with didn't taste like anything. Just slightly oily. So, I used my own at home. Also, because the portion of the chicken was so tiny, I added my own egg. At home. :/ While waiting for my order, I noticed they grabbed my Tabouleh salad from the pre-made window for foods to go. So, that explains why it wasn't fresh.
