I can't speak for the interior or service as someone else picked up my food but wow was it delicious! It was difficult choosing which one to get as the menu is quite expansive but I like how they section it off by types (roast beef/turkey/vegetarian/deli cuts/pork/etc). Honestly they make a great sandwich but for the price I'm not overly excited. But that seems to be the way of the world currently across the board. The sandwiches themselves are nothing extraordinary, I mean it doesn't grab your tastebuds by surprise and stand out is what I'm trying to say. The cookies were flavourful soft and chewy. If you're in the area and want a sandwich they're fairly efficient in getting your order out, so it might be worth the drop in. Good thing the artistic sushi joint next door had an arbitrary closure due to a large catering order, we luckily stumbled upon this sandwich bar. Interior is a bit on the stark side. Isn't much of dinning joint. Now that with Covid in full swing, half the tables are folded up, so it is unlikely one is able to dine inside beyond say 4-6 people. Price point wise it is about double of the next door Subway sandwiches. However don't let the price dissuade you. They make some mean delish sandwiches. i used to really like Big Star. But i think i've hit the wall at $15.50 for a regular sandwich and the ask for a tip when the counter girl couldn't even crack a smile or more than a "uh huh". Had a wrap with veggie turkey. and it was just ok. it's nice to have the veggie "meat" option which isn't available most places but the price is just too high. Plus it seemed there was extra lettuce and surprisingly bland taste for habanero cheese, sriracha mayo etc. Its just no longer the business for me. read more

My wife and I have eaten here before, and we found the sandwiches were too full of mayo. We tried it again yesterday and had a much better experience! I had the Mona Lisa special and my wife tried the pulled turkey. The sandwiches were hearty and had a red wine dressing instead of a bunch of creamy mayo. We loved it! Mayo was all I could taste and the lettuce was so saturated in sauce that it was limp. I could not taste the turkey at all. Big Star Sandwich Co. opened up a few years ago in a tiny shop located in New West. Since that time, they've moved into a larger location in New West and, at the same time, opened up a bunch of new locations. One such outlet is located on Canada Way in Burnaby, near Charlie's Chocolate Factory. The interior is fairly similar to their other locations with tall ceilings and an industrial vibe to it. As I've mentioned before, Big Star makes some of the best sandwiches around... the only thing that would make them better is if they had options to toast their sandwiches... just saying. We picked up a regular size of their #2 Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar, Avocado ($8.98) with lettuce, tomato, mayo, honey mustard, and hickory sticks and their #28 Roast Beef, Bacon, Habanero Jack ($8.98) with lettuce, tomato, onions, hickory sticks, chipotle mayo, and bold bbq sauce. Like I said before, the only thing that would have made their Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar, Avocado sandwich better would have been if the sandwich was toasted. Their #28 is also known as The Neeson because it's the sandwich that lured Liam Neeson to their New West shop when he was in town filming. It's no wonder because this is an outstanding sandwich. This is the best place I've found in and around Vancouver for sandwiches. People saying it's expensive are wrong IMO. For $15 you can get a combo with your choice of drink and side, either chips or their potato salad. This is on par with Subway and the quality at Big Star is in a league of it's own. You can pay a couple bucks extra if you want the "large" sandwich but I've honestly never needed it. The sandwiches are filling with very fresh and delicious ingredients. If you get the potato salad as a side there's no way you're eating a large sandwich too. Their honey mustard and their cranberry mayo are both incredible. It seemed odd that a sandwich shop would open up near a Subway, but Big Star offers a product that far surpasses the competition. I went with the recommended #4 Roast beef with bacon, cheddar, and (OMG yum) hickory sticks. Comes with lettuce, tomato, and deli mustard. The large size is monstrous - it will overstuff a hungry fellow, or serve as two meals for a smaller appetite. The combination was delicious and they really stack the meat nice and high. The bread is quality and feels more high end than your typical fast food fare. I also tried the ginger beer which had a perfect balance of sweet with a decent bite. Please note that all of their bottle drinks are $3 so you will feel ripped of if you get the basic colas. read more

I got the Turkey with stuffing sandwich and my husband got the turkey meatball sandwich both were good at first but my husband said reheating it was awful didn't taste as good. Also the cashier girl was a know it all type and not very friendly. Very overpriced also for what it was way cheaper to go to subway I understand the boutique sandwich vibe but sorry it's way too expensive, also the staff seemed as if they didn't like their job. But for a sammy that was supposed to be full of flavourful ingredients, I didn't pick up too much! I ordered the roast beef with provolone, garlic aioli, sriracha mayo and crispy onions. I didn't really taste any of my favorite cheese, nor did I get a hit of garlic or spice really. The onions were the most flavourful and they weren't anything special. Brand new location that is beside Charlie's Chocolate Factory. I came here after my doctor's appointment to get a sandwich. I am already familiar with their other location and offerings, therefore, there was already some brand recognition established with me. The menu is the same as the other location. This location has ample seating. Super friendly chill guy who took my order. I had a roast beef sandwich which was huge..I mean so big that I had to pack half. I was hungry for lunch after a walk around Burnaby Lake and I'd heard of this place thanks to their Liam Neeson sign, so I figured I'd give it a try! Parking is very limited - 6 spots only then you're out of luck and will have to park a block or two away and walk. Which isn't terrible, but don't plan to park there during busy times. The menu is very meat-centric - hand pulledturkey or slow roasted beef better be what you want, or you don't have a lot of other options. I went for the #2: turkey, bacon, cheddar, and guacamole with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and honey mustard. I asked if they do toasted sandwiches since it was a cold day and I'd have liked something warm, but the answer was no, they think their bread is good enough quality that it doesn't need toasting. That's not why you toast sandwiches, silly people! A toasted sandwich warms your hands and stomach, enhances the flavour of the ingredients, melts the cheese, and changes the bread texture entirely. Assuming it's to hide stale bread makes me rather question your business experiences, tbh. Anyway, ordered the small, which is still gigantic. There was ample seating and they actually brought out a cup of water with the sandwich without me even asking for one, which was a surprisingly thoughtful gesture. The sandwich itself was fine, but not amazing, however. The bread WAS decent - a soft white roll - though nothing I would have particularly noticed as out of the ordinary. The proportions of the sandwich is why I'm just saying this place was OK, not outstanding. I get that it's a turkey sandwich, but there was a ridiculous amount of turkey compared to the other ingredients. There was one tiny slice of bacon which you pretty much need a magnifying glass to see in the photo I took, a single thin slice of cheese, and an enormous wedge of turkey so thick that you couldn't really taste anything BUT the turkey and the thick bun. Now, I like turkey fine, but when I order a turkey AND cheese AND bacon sandwich, I expect to enjoy a combination of the flavours together -- otherwise I would order a turkey-only sandwich. Loading on so much turkey just unbalances that ratio so the other ingredients are barely noticeable compared to turkey overload. And a plain turkey sandwich is just boring. So, although the bread and turkey were both good quality, this would honestly have been a better sandwich with half the turkey, a bit more bacon, and thinner slices of bread so that the overall ratio of all the ingredients was closer to balanced and no one of them overwhelms the others. So... great place to go if you want a massive turkey or beef sandwich, but I personally won't be going back and will look for someplace with a little more flavour balance. (And maybe the option of a tasty toasted sandwich on a cold rainy day, too!) read more

I used Big Star in Burnaby for a business meeting lunch in my office for 10 people. I ordered the Box 24 lunch, pickle bucket, broccoli/cheddar soup, potatoe salad and desserts. I have one celiac person in my group. The food arrived at the appointed time and the sandwiches definitely looked great. They were much bigger than I anticipated so I probably could have left off one of the sides as I knew there were going to be leftovers. The soup was in a bucket and unfortunately, we don't have chaffing dishes in the offices so there was no way to keep it warm. Going forward I would not do the soup for catering purposes again. The potatoe salad was tasty, as were the pickles and desserts. Overall the lunch was good however I have two recommendations. I would say leave off the soup if catering unless you can keep it heated as only 1 person in my group ate it. I would also recommend a couple of more gluten free options as the only one presented was to pick a sandwich and they would put it together in a container like a salad. While my celiac person said it was interesting I got the feeling they weren't overly impressed given now a days there are sooooo many gluten free bread products available. I will say the staff at all levels were great to work with; helpful and made suggestions on things to try. I will try them again when the need arises but might change it up slightly having the experience we did. read more
