Big Star Sandwich is not playing around. These sandwiches are absolutely stuffed. Like, two hands, full focus, no distractions kind of meal. Finishing one feels like an accomplishment. You earn that last bite. Honestly deserves a small round of applause. Everything tastes fresh and loaded with real ingredients, not just filler. Every bite actually hits, no weak spots. Service is quick and friendly, and the vibe is chill. Perfect spot to pull up hungry and leave victorious. And for those planning ahead, Local Cannabis Co is close by, so you can pre game properly before taking on one of these beasts. Highly recommended strategy. Big portions, fresh ingredients, and a solid laugh at how ambitious your order was. Easy 5 stars. read more

Had the roast beef sandwich with bacon, cheese AND HICKORY STICKS!! Bread was super soft, meat was flavourful and tender - and yes, those hickory sticks are a major crunch YUM game-changer! Would recommend to anyone to try this! (you can find me on Instagram @aida.loves ) read more

The best sandwich I ever had. I got the two for one big Mac sandwich. You have to try this.

I wish i was going to love it... my boyfriend took me here, theses are our critiques! The Portion to price ratio not worth it large $20 (BEFORE) tax No flavor in the meat itself bun was not toasted chips were soggy cheese was cold only flavor in massive amounts of sauce (that made the chips soggy) service was good (bad recommendation for sandwiches tho) place was empty we were the only ones there on a weekend (Saturday) all in all save your money not worth it! read more

Similar market strategy with otherplace that serves thesame sandwiches Only difference was the restaurant itself has an upscale look inside..somewhat countryside feel..serves different kind of soda. I got the pulledpork sandwich with sides of potato salad, kinda pricey for what you are getting for that amount. Free street parking.. Try it yourself guys..just not my place to be... read more

We catered the sandwiches to our office lunch meeting. The sandwiches tasted great and they are well-portioned to a single lunch. The sandwiches maybe a little pricy but it's well worth than other submarine sandwiches brands in town. read more

Wow for a hearty and filling sandwich - you need to order from big star! I got the Number 27 - roast beef, provolone, crispy onions, lettuce, tomato, onions, sriracha mayonnaise and garlic aioli and it did not disappoint. I can't speak for the interior or service as someone else picked up my food but wow was it delicious! It was difficult choosing which one to get as the menu is quite expansive but I like how they section it off by types (roast beef/turkey/vegetarian/deli cuts/pork/etc). Easily one of my favourite subs. read more

Big Star Sandwich - Number 27 - roast beef, provolone, crispy onions, lettuce, tomato, onions, sriracha mayonnaise and garlic aioli - Sandwiches Near Me - Burnaby, British Columbia

Honestly they make a great sandwich but for the price I'm not overly excited. But that seems to be the way of the world currently across the board. The sandwiches themselves are nothing extraordinary, I mean it doesn't grab your tastebuds by surprise and stand out is what I'm trying to say. The cookies were flavourful soft and chewy. If you're in the area and want a sandwich they're fairly efficient in getting your order out, so it might be worth the drop in. I'm personally looking for places that grab my attention mentally( visually captivating) , emotionally ( food so good it makes a single tear drop lol) and physically ( food so good you want to fight people off lol) read more

Food was amazingly delicious. The potato salad was nice on a hot day. Everytime. Bang on sevice

Good thing the artistic sushi joint next door had an arbitrary closure due to a large catering order, we luckily stumbled upon this sandwich bar. Interior is a bit on the stark side. Isn't much of dinning joint. Now that with Covid in full swing, half the tables are folded up, so it is unlikely one is able to dine inside beyond say 4-6 people. Price point wise it is about double of the next door Subway sandwiches. However don't let the price dissuade you. They make some mean delish sandwiches. Experience comparable to some of the fanciest NYC Soho sandwiches joints I have been to. Yes it is that good. High recommend it. read more

First time ordering and the sandwich was sooooo good the sauces and meat quality wow ! Very happy.

Been wanting to come here for a while and finally had the chance to come. This is definitely better than subway and quiznos. This is very recommended for sandwich and worth it for the price and for the taste. Cheers! I am looking forward to come back! read more

Prices are ridiculous for the portion size, nothing special about the sandwiches. Disappointing expensive experience.

Very good sandwiches, but seriously overpriced. This is the large corn beef at $15! For that you get the sandwich and a pickle. I'm going to enjoy this but probably won't buy again unless they adjust their prices. read more

Delicious and filling deli sandwiches. Fresh bread, high-quality ingredients and a lot of veggie/customizable options. I always get the #31 (veggie turkey & provolone) , and my bf is a big fan of the #3 (turkey & capicola) and #4 (roast beef w/ bacon) Do yourself a favor; skip Subway, spend an extra dollar or 2 and get a way better sandwich by a mile. read more

i used to really like Big Star. But i think i've hit the wall at $15.50 for a regular sandwich and the ask for a tip when the counter girl couldn't even crack a smile or more than a "uh huh". Had a wrap with veggie turkey. and it was just ok. it's nice to have the veggie "meat" option which isn't available most places but the price is just too high. Plus it seemed there was extra lettuce and surprisingly bland taste for habanero cheese, sriracha mayo etc. Its just no longer the business for me. read more

My wife and I have eaten here before, and we found the sandwiches were too full of mayo. We tried it again yesterday and had a much better experience! I had the Mona Lisa special and my wife tried the pulled turkey. The sandwiches were hearty and had a red wine dressing instead of a bunch of creamy mayo. We loved it! I might try to get mine grilled next time... the bacon and cheese were just begging to be melting together! read more

We recently moved to the area and were excited to try a new sandwich spot. My husband ordered me turkey and it came drenched in mayo. Mayo was all I could taste and the lettuce was so saturated in sauce that it was limp. I could not taste the turkey at all. I managed to eat the bottom half of one half because the sandwich plus delivery wasn't cheap. Never again. read more

Big Star Sandwich Co. opened up a few years ago in a tiny shop located in New West. Since that time, they've moved into a larger location in New West and, at the same time, opened up a bunch of new locations. One such outlet is located on Canada Way in Burnaby, near Charlie's Chocolate Factory. The interior is fairly similar to their other locations with tall ceilings and an industrial vibe to it. As I've mentioned before, Big Star makes some of the best sandwiches around... the only thing that would make them better is if they had options to toast their sandwiches... just saying. We picked up a regular size of their #2 Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar, Avocado ($8.98) with lettuce, tomato, mayo, honey mustard, and hickory sticks and their #28 Roast Beef, Bacon, Habanero Jack ($8.98) with lettuce, tomato, onions, hickory sticks, chipotle mayo, and bold bbq sauce. Like I said before, the only thing that would have made their Turkey, Bacon, Cheddar, Avocado sandwich better would have been if the sandwich was toasted. Their #28 is also known as The Neeson because it's the sandwich that lured Liam Neeson to their New West shop when he was in town filming. It's no wonder because this is an outstanding sandwich. Big Star uses their very particular set of skills in making this crowd pleaser. Love the crunchy hickory sticks on top and the sauce has just the right amount of kick to it. read more

Kind of expensive for what it is, very dense bread and the sandwiches are jammed with a ton of shredded lettuce and are usually very cold for some reason. It's right down the street but I've lost interest in it and only go there when someone wants to try it who hasn't. read more

This is the best place I've found in and around Vancouver for sandwiches. People saying it's expensive are wrong IMO. For $15 you can get a combo with your choice of drink and side, either chips or their potato salad. This is on par with Subway and the quality at Big Star is in a league of it's own. You can pay a couple bucks extra if you want the "large" sandwich but I've honestly never needed it. The sandwiches are filling with very fresh and delicious ingredients. If you get the potato salad as a side there's no way you're eating a large sandwich too. Their honey mustard and their cranberry mayo are both incredible. Highly recommend if you love sandwiches! read more

Good sandwiches and lots of choices!!! Best sandwich in town. Have tried it two times and still loves it.

The addition of Big Star Sandwich Co means this neighborhood is growing up. It seemed odd that a sandwich shop would open up near a Subway, but Big Star offers a product that far surpasses the competition. I went with the recommended #4 Roast beef with bacon, cheddar, and (OMG yum) hickory sticks. Comes with lettuce, tomato, and deli mustard. The large size is monstrous - it will overstuff a hungry fellow, or serve as two meals for a smaller appetite. The combination was delicious and they really stack the meat nice and high. The bread is quality and feels more high end than your typical fast food fare. I also tried the ginger beer which had a perfect balance of sweet with a decent bite. Please note that all of their bottle drinks are $3 so you will feel ripped of if you get the basic colas. read more

I got the Turkey with stuffing sandwich and my husband got the turkey meatball sandwich both were good at first but my husband said reheating it was awful didn't taste as good. Also the cashier girl was a know it all type and not very friendly. Very overpriced also for what it was way cheaper to go to subway I understand the boutique sandwich vibe but sorry it's way too expensive, also the staff seemed as if they didn't like their job. My sandwich was cold too was just not as enjoyable. read more

I was happy with my sandwich but I was certainly expecting more OOMPH. The bread was decent, the meat was ample, and the veg was fresh. But for a sammy that was supposed to be full of flavourful ingredients, I didn't pick up too much! I ordered the roast beef with provolone, garlic aioli, sriracha mayo and crispy onions. I didn't really taste any of my favorite cheese, nor did I get a hit of garlic or spice really. The onions were the most flavourful and they weren't anything special. I'll give it another try when I'm in the vicinity, maybe. read more

Brand new location that is beside Charlie's Chocolate Factory. I came here after my doctor's appointment to get a sandwich. I am already familiar with their other location and offerings, therefore, there was already some brand recognition established with me. The menu is the same as the other location. This location has ample seating. Super friendly chill guy who took my order. I had a roast beef sandwich which was huge..I mean so big that I had to pack half. This surprised me considering that I walked in hangry. The prices are fair market value with the portion for a good quality sandwich. read more

Pretty good but my husband said his pulled turkey was dry. My beef was pretty good but would have been better if the sandwich was warm.

I was hungry for lunch after a walk around Burnaby Lake and I'd heard of this place thanks to their Liam Neeson sign, so I figured I'd give it a try! Parking is very limited - 6 spots only then you're out of luck and will have to park a block or two away and walk. Which isn't terrible, but don't plan to park there during busy times. The menu is very meat-centric - hand pulledturkey or slow roasted beef better be what you want, or you don't have a lot of other options. I went for the #2: turkey, bacon, cheddar, and guacamole with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and honey mustard. I asked if they do toasted sandwiches since it was a cold day and I'd have liked something warm, but the answer was no, they think their bread is good enough quality that it doesn't need toasting. That's not why you toast sandwiches, silly people! A toasted sandwich warms your hands and stomach, enhances the flavour of the ingredients, melts the cheese, and changes the bread texture entirely. Assuming it's to hide stale bread makes me rather question your business experiences, tbh. Anyway, ordered the small, which is still gigantic. There was ample seating and they actually brought out a cup of water with the sandwich without me even asking for one, which was a surprisingly thoughtful gesture. The sandwich itself was fine, but not amazing, however. The bread WAS decent - a soft white roll - though nothing I would have particularly noticed as out of the ordinary. The proportions of the sandwich is why I'm just saying this place was OK, not outstanding. I get that it's a turkey sandwich, but there was a ridiculous amount of turkey compared to the other ingredients. There was one tiny slice of bacon which you pretty much need a magnifying glass to see in the photo I took, a single thin slice of cheese, and an enormous wedge of turkey so thick that you couldn't really taste anything BUT the turkey and the thick bun. Now, I like turkey fine, but when I order a turkey AND cheese AND bacon sandwich, I expect to enjoy a combination of the flavours together -- otherwise I would order a turkey-only sandwich. Loading on so much turkey just unbalances that ratio so the other ingredients are barely noticeable compared to turkey overload. And a plain turkey sandwich is just boring. So, although the bread and turkey were both good quality, this would honestly have been a better sandwich with half the turkey, a bit more bacon, and thinner slices of bread so that the overall ratio of all the ingredients was closer to balanced and no one of them overwhelms the others. So... great place to go if you want a massive turkey or beef sandwich, but I personally won't be going back and will look for someplace with a little more flavour balance. (And maybe the option of a tasty toasted sandwich on a cold rainy day, too!) read more

I used Big Star in Burnaby for a business meeting lunch in my office for 10 people. I ordered the Box 24 lunch, pickle bucket, broccoli/cheddar soup, potatoe salad and desserts. I have one celiac person in my group. The food arrived at the appointed time and the sandwiches definitely looked great. They were much bigger than I anticipated so I probably could have left off one of the sides as I knew there were going to be leftovers. The soup was in a bucket and unfortunately, we don't have chaffing dishes in the offices so there was no way to keep it warm. Going forward I would not do the soup for catering purposes again. The potatoe salad was tasty, as were the pickles and desserts. Overall the lunch was good however I have two recommendations. I would say leave off the soup if catering unless you can keep it heated as only 1 person in my group ate it. I would also recommend a couple of more gluten free options as the only one presented was to pick a sandwich and they would put it together in a container like a salad. While my celiac person said it was interesting I got the feeling they weren't overly impressed given now a days there are sooooo many gluten free bread products available. I will say the staff at all levels were great to work with; helpful and made suggestions on things to try. I will try them again when the need arises but might change it up slightly having the experience we did. read more
