My photo that I posted in this review may not seem all that helpful, but if you can tell how much my daughter is enjoying the place based on here smile, that's good enough for me. We freakin' LOVE this place. It looks like an early 80s time machine inside, and even smells like it too! To be honest, the food CAN be hit or miss (though often is very good). I've actually enjoyed some amazing steaks there in the past (and I'm a steak snob). Salad bar is always good and fresh. But come on! Who comes here just for the food? The atmosphere, decor, wait staff, energy... it's all 10 star. I've eaten here a LOT over the last few decades, and I can never recall a server that wasn't in character and totally getting in to it. I wish every big town in America had a Magic Time Machine. So if you're traveling from out of town, please, come check this place out. read more

Magic Time Machine - This place makes us smile! - Bars Near Me - Dallas, Texas

Super fun experience! Beware of children running around your table, and lots of noise. Super cool magician, amazing drinks and food. Some servers are better than others. read more

The ambiance was great. We had Harley Quinn for our waitress and she hammed it up pretty well. We celebrated two bdays there and were given a cookie with a scoop of ice cream on top. I had the top sirloin which was cooked well. Compared to the food at the San Antonio location, this one was WAY better. read more

I was afraid this place would be a fail for my 13 to 4 year old guests but they didn't notice the dated decor and just enjoyed getting character autographs and looking around at the themed tables. We went for a birthday dinner and will go back. Just manage your expectations. They haven't touched this interior since my last 15 years ago. The dated and weathered decor gives off a dirty vibe, although, the table and dishes were clean. Some costumes are better than others. I didn't enjoy the attitude of some the waitstaff/characters. Think Dick's Last Resort vibe. I can appreciate snarky but it was lost on the kids, left my littlest people confused & started to tick off one of the parents. Spiderman was a Standout! He was fun, very playful and posed for endless pics. Our waitress from Brave (Merida) was fun too! Her accent was on point and she was a great sever. A balloon artist visited the table and we had a caricature portrait done. The car salad bar was no longer post covid, steaks were ok, the Roman Orgy didn't disappoint but definitely made for unusual conversation with the older kids. There are fun, dry ice kind of drinks for the kids. The kids loved sitting in the school bus and a rocket ship. read more

Fun experience for kids! The Magic Time Machine is perfect for little ones. It's a unique restaurant with different themed booths and each server is their own character. It may help to adjust your expectations and know it's truly geared towards kids... this is not fine dining. With that in mind, we had a blast! They had fun bubbly drinks and a little salad bar. Loved the balloon artist, photo print, and magic show. Arrive when it opens at 4pm or the lines get long. Definitely worth a trip! read more

Food: 4 , Service: 5 , Ambience: the Coolest 5 This place was awesome. I went for the first time as a parent of two small children. Everyone my kids came into contact with went above and beyond to make this an experience that was memorable. The food is good. Price point and portion size is awesome. Would think about getting a reservation and maybe going on any night but a Friday/Saturday. You can call the number from the website during the day. We had StarLord as our server. We loved him, he did an awesome job (even in the face of a table that sucked from what we could overhear). Deserves a raise for how professional he was. read more

Wait was long and hostess tells u to go next door if you don't mind hooters.... It's great for families. Needs updating and a good cleaning. Food for the price not worth it at all. So if u want a frozen dip that was heated up and watered down on top of spaghetti then you have found the place to go. Alcohol drinks were decent. read more

Harley Quinn made our evening sooooo much fun! This woman needs a raise! I enjoyed her and hope to return again when she is working! The food was good. read more

Very outdated, run down, and dusty. Food was mediocre. I don't like to write negative reviews but there wasn't anything about our visit that left me wanting to go back. My last visit to MTM was approx 1985 and now my daughter and granddaughter have experienced it also. read more

This place needs help, from the start they push how short staffed they are and advertised that they are hiring. So be prepared for a wait, we didn't mind the wait since they had a man painting pictures of people like at a fair! The upstairs lounge was closed so we didn't have a place to sit but the stairs. Our server worked so incredibly hard the whole evening and kept in character the whole time! The food was so yummy. The place overall just needs a facelift, and the balloon guy needs a partner to help him out! Unfortunately we waited over and hour for our to go food once we finished eating and wanted to leave right when our meal was done. We mentioned it when we first sat down and then by the time it came out it was missing food and we had to get it fixed which took longer. Will we come back? Yes. Just won't do to go next time. read more

I give this place four stars out of five because the restaurant in and of itself needs some improvements... there were several interior elements that were in desperate need of repair and a deep clean. Also, the wait was unexpectedly long. We were told a 30 to 45 minute wait when walking in an hour after opening (the place opens at 4:00pm) and we ended up waiting closer to 60 minutes. (After being seated, I wonder if this is due largely to the fact that the wait staff are responsible for cleaning the tables. Not exactly an issue per se... I worked as a waitress myself at a sports tavern and I was responsible for cleaning my tables. But the place I worked was much slower in terms of foot traffic. There were three tables within our view that sat there at least 10 to 15 minutes with finished plates and empty seats. That's 10 to 15 minutes extra that patrons will have to wait. I feel as if this restaurant needs dedicated bussers. The wait staff cannot be expected to work fast and efficiently if they are expected to take on extra work that lies outside of their main priorities... just a thought.) We spent the majority of our time in the arcade upstairs. This restaurant caters to a much younger crowd, so the room was incredibly loud and chaotic. If we come back, we would definitely prefer to wait in the car. However, this place was SO fun and interesting. The staff was unlike anything I've ever come across before. It was as if the owner hired a bunch of theater kids and put them in a servers apron. We were waited on by a lovely gentleman dressed as spider man. (Other characters we saw were Wario, Luigi, Professor Snape, Spider Gwen, Cinderellas Fairy God Mother, Wednesday Adams, and KISS) It was such a joy watching the other wait staff joke around with their tables. Clearly there is a lot of creative freedom when it comes to how the waiter/waitress chooses to interact with their tables as their chosen character. Spider-man played a game with us as we were packing up our food to leave for the night. Not only was the wait staff incredible, the design aspect of the restaurant is nothing short of extraordinary. Everywhere you look has something new or different to see. There is NOTHING consistent design or theme-wise about this place, and I mean that in the best way. Anyone of any age can find enjoyment. I would love to come back dressed up as a character myself someday. Finally... the food was good. You can tell that it was prepared with fresh ingredients. The burgers were especially tasty... thick juicy patties and fresh toppings made it phenomenal. Some dishes were pretty expensive, such as the steaks. Others were priced fairly, such as the burgers and the pasta dishes. As good as the food was, I get the impression that most don't go there for the food. They go for the show. And this is a show you won't want to miss. read more

Please please PLEASE, close this place for a month or so and just deep clean EVERYTHING. It's such a fun and special place but frankly it's gross. I don't care if the food is mediocre, since you're going for the fun, but I do care if it's dingy and smells like old carpet. I don't want this place to shut down and have the same fate as other older gimmicky DFW restaurants, but realistically I don't know how you guys are still allowed to serve food. read more

This was a nice costume themed restaurant. The servers make sure to stay in the act, overall a great place for a family dinner for the kids to enjoy read more

This is easily my favorite restaurant of all time. My parents used to take me here when I was a kid and now as a college student I drag my boyfriend here when we have extra money. I have a theory that the employees are either pursuing theatrical or teaching degrees on the side -- they are so dedicated to their craft and it is so fun to watch them interact with the kids. The staff here really has the most amazing enthusiasm that make the prices worth it. I would like to specifically shout-out DeadPool and Wario (or Minecraft Steve, depending on which night you come!) for giving us awesome service on both our visits. The food was fresh and delicious. Nothing like a salad car salad. God I just love this place. read more

Made reservation on yelp a week in advance. Called Saturday to confirm time. Spoke to JR the manager. And said they don't use yelp for reservations even though we made one. the Staff at a homeless shelter has more class than this staff. Would not recommend this place And will not ever attend the establishment. Wish them the best with the attitudes they have towards perspective customers. read more

If you have little kids you MIGHT Consider this place because each server is a "Character" like Barbie, Frozen Princess, Jedi, Spider-Man etc. The food is Very Expensive for what it is so understand going in that it's just for the little kids and not the quality of the food. Don't expect that the "top shelf" liquor to actually be that if you order a drink. They will serve you rot gut and charge you top shelf price. If you don't have to go, I wouldn't. The value is not there. If you have little kids it's worth going once. read more

For my first and last experience at this restaurant after waiting an hour to get seated, we finally got a table we waited 20 minutes for someone to come and at least take our drink order, but no one ever showed up. The menu was lack luster, short, lacking variety, didn't even have drinks on it, but I think they might serve soda idk. The AC wasn't working well and it was hot in there, smelt bad and was dirty. My kids didn't have a good experience and were begging to leave. Told my wife we should have just went to whataburger and we got up and left. read more

Food isn't the greatest, but you go here for the experience! Super kid friendly; comic book characters will sign autographs and they usually have a caricature artist! read more

If you have kids, this is the place to go. The kids enjoyed getting autographs from the servers that were in character. The food was not so great. The rice was hard on the salmon meal, the steak was not cooked to my liking, the Alfredo noodles were not cooked all the way. The drinks are good and our server (Ken- Barbie) was great, we loved him! We booked a party of 25 with the expectation that the magician would be there (we asked ahead if time) but when we arrived, the magician was not there. I personally will not return again but again, if you are just wanting to go for the kids to experience it, go but have no expectations. read more

If you want to provide a wonderful, life-long memory for your child, look no further. Forget the comments from the adults about the food, it was absolutely delicious, all of it! Try and remember why you really came, to see the wide-eyed wonderment and surprise on your kids face once they realize they've entered in to a magical place...and they have you to thank! This ain't no Chucky-Cheese. This is a magic potion, cartoon charactered, giant Crayola mystical magic adventure!.....GO NOW...BEFORE YOUR KIDS GET ANOTHER DAY OLDER and before they become the skeptical old farts who would rather talk about the temperature of their French fries. read more

It's a unique experience and affordable. Kids favorite bubble drink is just only $2.99. But actually, food is typical. Oh! but their tablebread was really tasty! With honey butter! You should try that! Also, the servers were wearing costumes and the acting was so fun! My daughter loved them. They are very used to talking with kids, they celebrated our daughter's birthday. The restaurant itself looked so old! It's because of the theme but also really old lol We wanted to have a seat spaceship, bus, or crayon but our seat was just a regular sofa seat. read more

We came for a birthday party and made reservations weeks ago for a party of 8. When we arrived they said they could not accommodate our party and we had to sit at two different booths. It was very disappointing. The hostess agreed they should not have taken our reservation but pretty much take it or leave it. We did stay. The food was decent. Deadpool did a great job but we would not return bc of poor service regarding the reservation read more

Ambiance, service and food are all great! Enjoy the way the staff really get into character and don't break from it.

Second time. We came here before the pandemic started. I would say that in spite of all the negative reviews I've seen, the experience was great. Ariel was our server and made the night memorable. My wife had the eve prime rib and I had a New York strip. But we're done perfectly and served hot and we're tasty. My wife has a soy allergy and the manager from the back office came out and accommodated us perfectly which is rare considering we've been to Disney World and they don't accommodate us as well as the magic time machine tonight My 12-year-old daughter wants to work here when she grows up. To start what is that smell? It smells like my grandmas closet. So we had reservations and we all get there and they put us in this tiny school bus that does not accommodate big people and we had a few. Besides shaggy who we actually think was stoned was the most realistic character in the building. The food is mediocre but the drinks were decent. My niece loved this place but definitely not for adults. read more

Great service, food was ok. It's more for the kids, they definitely stay entertained.

Our sole purpose for here was for the kids. I came here as a child and I think I enjoyed it. We came in a Sunday.. They open at 4pm. We walked about 30 minutes to be seated. The servers are all in character. The kids enjoyed it and that's what really matters. Food was descent and so where the drinks. The food is good and service is very fun with children! Prices are moderate. An entertaining evening every time!

First off, it didn't seem like the AC was working as there was plug in fans all over the entire restaurant that my toddlers kept tripping over. Our server gave my toddlers adult cups and as I took them off the table to give them back they were spilt and knocked over. The waitress never cleaned the ice off of our table through our meal and "desert" the waitress said our bussers will get it and we ate with ice cubes, I asked multiple servers and what seemed like a manager for napkins and plates and never got them. When my children finished they got their cookies and it was definitely the most burnt, beat, unchewable cookie you could ever imagine. Sadly we were told we could approach any character and ask for an autograph or a picture but almost every one said they couldn't because they were busy. It just wasn't a good time for us. Hopefully someone else can dodge this place while looking for somewhere to go. read more

This is a fun restaurant for celebrations such as birthdays, especially for younger patrons who will enjoy characters who serve them. They interact well with adults too! During our recent visit, the food was better than I expected and the portions are large. Everyone at the table enjoyed what they ordered. You get value with fun entertainment via the characters/wait staff. I took off a star because the decor could use some updating for sure. However, looking past that which one may consider throwback, it is an overall great experience. read more
