It's been a while since we've been able to stop by 1845, but tonight we made it a point to be at the bar for happy hour and then dinner. We started off with the smoked wings appetizer which was as close to the old JR's Grill (IYKYK) as we've ever found. Fantastic. We moved on to the smoked prime rib and blackened redfish for dinner. Both were amazing. The smoked prime rib might be the best smoked steak I've ever had, and I've won awards for my smoking talent. The potatoes au gratin were from another universe. So fantastic! Do not sleep on this place, it's one of the best in DFW.

We love this place! It can get packed so make a reservation if you can. The decor is moody and well done. Their house salad is so dang good!! It doesn't seem like anything special but it's really tasty!! The smothered chicken is really good! The flavors marry nicely. The smoked salmon dip is a great appetizer!

My partner and I stopped in here for our anniversary dinner and had a lovely time. The atmosphere is clean and sophisticated without being too much, and the service we received was great. We were brought a bottle with lights in it to signify our special occasion. The waitress also did a lovely job at explaining their specialities to us at the beginning. We first tried the recommended pork belly appetizer, and it was delicious. The cook on the pork was perfect and the glaze was slightly sweet in a brown sugar sort of way. The bread tasted like butter with the texture of a roll. I got the 14 oz ribeye with asparagus, and it was very good. The cook and texture on it was incredible. My only minor criticism was it being a little over salty. My bf got the prime rib, and it tasted perfectly like fatty brisket with prime rib texture. He also very much loved his au gratin. We shared the double chocolate as dessert. Note that it wasn't complimentary, but they did put a sparkler in it. Very sweet and rich brownie cheesecake combo with vanilla ice cream. It was decent but we were also very full by this point! Overall a great place for a nice meal for a special occasion.

If you are looking for an authentic, upscale Texas dining experience in Dallas, 1845 Taste Texas delivers on the flavor. While it sits on the pricier side of the scale, the quality of the food makes it a worthwhile splurge for a truly great meal. The Texas Experience sampler is an absolute must-order to kick things off. The fried jalapeños have the perfect crunch, but the pork belly was the standout highlight of the platter--perfectly rendered and incredibly flavorful. As for the main course, the filet was easily one of the best I have ever had. It was a high-quality cut of meat and, more importantly, expertly cooked to the exact temperature requested. Expert service from the staff made the entire meal complete. The only reason I am not giving it a full five stars is the price point; it is definitely an investment for dinner. However, for a special occasion or a high-end night out, the food quality lives up to the bill. I will definitely be back for that pork belly!

Best ribeye steak we had by far. Hubby took me here for our Valentine's dinner. For appetizer we ordered the pork belly with caramelized root beer served with toasted rolls. They were amazingly good! Our rib eye was served with Brussels sprouts for me and baked potato for him. Also ordered asparagus which came with thick stems but still crunchy. The rib eye was cooked and seasoned to perfection and so are the sides. For dessert we had the peach cobbler topped with pecans coupled with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. Emilio, our server was very attentive and also thoroughly explained everything. He was great. Loved the cozy ambience--great for both social and romantic ambience. Even with the crowd which happens so quickly, hubby and I still felt private sitting in a booth. A bit pricey but worth it especially for special occasions. Would love to come back here again.

Very good valentine's day meal. Went all out on appetizers, entree and dessert. We got the filet queso and fried quail as appetizers. Both of them were outstanding. The queso was creamy and the filet was tender and paired great with the queso. The lockhart fried quail appetizer may have been the star of the night with a star studded cast. The fry was perfect and quail was incredibly juicy. I had the filet mignon and sweet baked potato for my entree. I asked for a medium rare cook and that is exactly what they provided. The sear was excellent with a simple but tasty salt and pepper crust. Great cook and tender cut. The sweet prost was perfectly cooked and seasoned as well. And finally for dessert I went with the blueberry crumble. Good moist and warm. Finally the 45 old fashioned was a great drink, the smokiness with the cherry made for one of the smoother old fashioned I've had. This review would not be complete without mentioning Kylea our server. She was amazing and knowledgeable about everything on the menu. This was my first trip to 1845 and I am sure to return to try more of the menu.

This is our second time here, and it was better than first time. Made reservation on resy. Was seated 20mins prior. Parking is a little tricky here so give yourself ample time. Lindsey was our waitress, and she was amazing and made our night. It was our son's 14th birthday dinner and they made it so special. Appetizer- spicy jalapeño, and onion rings Entree- husband and son got filet mignon with asparagus and jalapeño mac & cheese. I got the Texas strip with mashed potatoes. My daughter got blackened red fish. Dessert, peach cobbler with vanilla ice cream with the sparkler on it for our birthday boy Everything was delicious. Place was packed. Lights are dim. Ambiance was perfect. Great food and wonderful service.

Tried 1845 for the first time and I'm honestly mad I'm just now discovering it I'm a picky eater, so when I say EVERYTHING was good... I mean it. I started with the poblano meatballs and wow, so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, almost had that grilled taste . For drinks, I had a lemon drop martini and it did not disappoint. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried chicken and baby... BEST I've ever had. The crust was seasoned perfectly, not too hard, and the chicken was juicy. I also tried the smothered chicken, just as good. And dessert?! Peach cobbler with a snickerdoodle cookie crust... hands down the best I've ever had. No notes. Shoutout to our waitress Heather, she was so sweet, attentive, and gave great recommendations. The manager Chris also came by a few times to check on us, which I really appreciated. 10/10 experience. I will definitely be back and telling everyone about this place!

I was in the mood for a steak, so what better place than an establishment that uses fresh cut filets and ribeyes. We went with the 7pz filet w/mashed potatoes and the Prime rib with asparagus. Both steaks cooked to perfection. The asparagus was different, good, but different. It had a smokey taste which was a nice twist. Not pictured was the blueberry crunch and it was spectacular! Service was spectacular, verified our steaks were cooked to our liking. Dining area is Texas through and through! I'll definitely be back to try one of those Texas favorites, Chicken fried steak/chicken.

We love it here. It's one of our go to restaurants--for birthdays, celebrations, date night... whatever. Great steak. No seed oils! This is a huge plus. Environment is alway pretty lively. It's dark but not quiet or romantic. Has a modern vibe. Great food all around.

The drink on the right was the better drink.

The fried green tomatoes were very lightly battered and perfectly fried. Delicious! My wife liked the tartar sauce, but I was disappointed. You don't find pickle chunks in remoulade sauce. For our entrées, she had the Reuben and fries, and I had the fried chicken strips and waffle (also came with fried eggs). Both were really good; huge portions we could not finish.

The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. I'm glad we tried it, but I don't think it's a place I'd rush back to.

A second employee, not as friendly, arrived sometime later to assist setting up the bar. There were some minor inconveniences arriving this early. Because I was the first to require a refill, the bartender had to get a coffee pot from the kitchen. Afterwards, she kept the pot at the bar. I decided on the Breakfast Egg Rolls. Not sure how something tagged "new" can be a house specialty. The breakfast jam lacked flavor. The egg rolls were saved due to the taste of the fried wontons. Of the two sauces, the maple syrup was better than the spicy hollandaise. The hollandaise lacked both heat and spiciness. When I was served coffee, I was not provided either cream nor sweeteners. As I did not notice any nearby, rather than wait to have the her return to the kitchen, I decided to give it a sip. Surprisingly, the coffee tasted great. Highly recommend this place, service was great too.
