1845 is one of the best steakhouses in Dallas for a casual steak, and some amazing sides. The steaks are always cooked properly, and the cheesy potatoes are always perfect. Solid service and good drinks. I'd recommend it for anyone wanting a nice dinner. read more

Came here for our first visit for my sons 30th birthday and I don't know that we will be back. As much as we LOVE Marty Bs - we have not had such luck with Rustico and now 1845. I will say we atleast liked the atmosphere and ambiance better at 1845 than we did at Rustico. But it was more of the same- incredibly overpriced BLAND food. Not at all worth the price you're paying, severely lacking in flavor, and takes waaaaay Too long to be delivered to your table after ordering. We started with the Texas Trio and we did enjoy that. It is kind of hard to mess up queso, salsa and pimento cheese- however we did say that was one thing we would eat again and was worth its value. My husband and other son bothe ordered cheeseburgers at $22 a pop and both said the burger they get at local pint was a million times better and a lil cheaper. I got the smothered chicken and It was very disappointing! The chicken was so bland it was like a notch above school cafeteria food (seriously) I swapped the rice for mashed potatoes and they were good (not great but good) and the Brussels sprouts which were really tasty but VERY small Portion for price. I've eaten at incredibly high end steak places that charge the same For a side of sprouts and give you more than double what I got tonight at 1845. The birthday boy got a strip steak and potatoes and he gave each of us a bite. $49 for this steak- a good size- but NO FLAVOR at all. Last but certainly not least- our server was nice enough and attentive HOWEVER he had on the Meta glasses that record people and that made our entire table very uncomfortable. My son said he had seen tik tok accounts where waiters record their patrons and post it! (Not saying he was but it definitely changed the atmosphere of our dinner) He also seemed notably disappointed and different after we didn't order the $49 appetizer and no alcohol. Visible mood shift but he did remain professional. All in all, we are baffled by the good reviews. And very very surprised at the quality of product and price point considering Marty Bs coffee has AMAZING food quality and pricing and so does the restaurant, just doesn't seem to be translating to the other establishments. :-( read more

Well, I'm chalking this up to an off night for these folks. I know it's an upscale place, but 45 minutes from order to the delivery of an entree seems a bit long. We ordered the quail appetizer (over salted). When the entrees finally arrived, my wife's steak was perfect, though it was cold. She ate it anyway. The fries were OK, and the mushrooms were wonderful. For me, my chicken fried steak was so tough it was almost inedible. I took four bites then brought it home to the pups. The onion rings were store bought, but the jalapeño Mac and cheese saved the day. The blueberry cobbler was wonderful. As I said, I guess it was an off night since everybody else loves the place. It's been a while since we've been able to stop by 1845, but tonight we made it a point to be at the bar for happy hour and then dinner. We started off with the smoked wings appetizer which was as close to the old JR's Grill (IYKYK) as we've ever found. Fantastic. We moved on to the smoked prime rib and blackened redfish for dinner. Both were amazing. The smoked prime rib might be the best smoked steak I've ever had, and I've won awards for my smoking talent. The potatoes au gratin were from another universe. So fantastic! My partner and I stopped in here for our anniversary dinner and had a lovely time. The atmosphere is clean and sophisticated without being too much, and the service we received was great. We were brought a bottle with lights in it to signify our special occasion. The waitress also did a lovely job at explaining their specialities to us at the beginning. We first tried the recommended pork belly appetizer, and it was delicious. The cook on the pork was perfect and the glaze was slightly sweet in a brown sugar sort of way. The bread tasted like butter with the texture of a roll. I got the 14 oz ribeye with asparagus, and it was very good. The cook and texture on it was incredible. My only minor criticism was it being a little over salty. My bf got the prime rib, and it tasted perfectly like fatty brisket with prime rib texture. He also very much loved his au gratin. We shared the double chocolate as dessert. Note that it wasn't complimentary, but they did put a sparkler in it. Very sweet and rich brownie cheesecake combo with vanilla ice cream. Best ribeye steak we had by far. Hubby took me here for our Valentine's dinner. For appetizer we ordered the pork belly with caramelized root beer served with toasted rolls. They were amazingly good! Our rib eye was served with Brussels sprouts for me and baked potato for him. Also ordered asparagus which came with thick stems but still crunchy. The rib eye was cooked and seasoned to perfection and so are the sides. For dessert we had the peach cobbler topped with pecans coupled with vanilla ice cream. It was delicious. Very good valentine's day meal. Went all out on appetizers, entree and dessert. We got the filet queso and fried quail as appetizers. Both of them were outstanding. The queso was creamy and the filet was tender and paired great with the queso. The lockhart fried quail appetizer may have been the star of the night with a star studded cast. The fry was perfect and quail was incredibly juicy. I had the filet mignon and sweet baked potato for my entree. I asked for a medium rare cook and that is exactly what they provided. The sear was excellent with a simple but tasty salt and pepper crust. Great cook and tender cut. The sweet prost was perfectly cooked and seasoned as well. And finally for dessert I went with the blueberry crumble. Good moist and warm. Finally the 45 old fashioned was a great drink, the smokiness with the cherry made for one of the smoother old fashioned I've had. I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a great experience. We were 15 minutes early for our reservation and the staff still promptly sat us and had a warm and welcoming attitude. Our server was also great and provided excellent attentive service. I really appreciated learning that they source their meat locally and that it's antibiotic and hormone free. Portions were very generous and the food was flavored well with a tex mex twist. Tried 1845 for the first time and I'm honestly mad I'm just now discovering it I'm a picky eater, so when I say EVERYTHING was good... I mean it. I started with the poblano meatballs and wow, so flavorful, perfectly seasoned, almost had that grilled taste . For drinks, I had a lemon drop martini and it did not disappoint. For my meal, I ordered the chicken fried chicken and baby... BEST I've ever had. The crust was seasoned perfectly, not too hard, and the chicken was juicy. I also tried the smothered chicken, just as good. And dessert?! Peach cobbler with a snickerdoodle cookie crust... hands down the best I've ever had. No notes. I was in the mood for a steak, so what better place than an establishment that uses fresh cut filets and ribeyes. We went with the 7pz filet w/mashed potatoes and the Prime rib with asparagus. Both steaks cooked to perfection. The asparagus was different, good, but different. It had a smokey taste which was a nice twist. Not pictured was the blueberry crunch and it was spectacular! My wife's cousin and her husband came up from San Antonio and wanted us to meet them here for dinner. (They chose this spot) Anywho, we ordered some cocktails and appetizers to start off. The appetizer was good, but only one of the cocktails shined in my eyes and that was the Clyde Barrow. The Bonnie Parker was too sweet for my liking. The drink my wife had was the Clyde Barrow, now that drink was strong, just how I like them. I want to taste the alcohol, LOL!! I think we split the wedge salad, I can't remember, but it was good. We also ordered the 14 oz ribeye and split that and we each had a loaded baked potato. Everything was ok, not the best in the world we ever had, just ok. This place is a great little gem that we love bringing friends and family to celebrate life. A great atmosphere and bar area including an outside patio. We had reservations for 6pm amd were seated promptly as the party arrived. We had a good selection of cocktails, mocktails and wine. Once those drinks were placed, we started with the hand battered onion rings. My friends ordered a filet and blackened redfish with salad, rice and mashed potatoes. My hubby ordered a beautiful smoky prime rib. I got the truffle fries and huge smoked double bone pork chop. As usual, my eyes were too big for my stomach and I could only eat a few bites of the chop and shared bites with the table. That chop is special!!! The service was great as well and very attentive. My friend, Jackie, is the GM here and the quality of service reflects her approach to the staff as well! However, for this area, it's a nice treat to bring company to for an unforgettable experience! We have the taste of Texas appetizer sampler. It included 4 meatballs, 4 portions of fried quail, 6 pork belly sliders, and fried jalapeño peppers. Everything was delicious but my personal favorite was the Quail. For my main I have the 9oz Fillet with a side of potato's au gratin. I had my fillet medium. It was absolutely delicious, seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. Melted in my mouth. By buddy had the 30oz Texas pork chop. This thing was massive and looked like something Fred Flintstone would eat. To top it off I even ordered dessert. I had the bourbon soaked peach cobbler. So sweet and decadent. The Dr Pepper glaze on the pork belly was something else on an already amazing appetizer. The first entrée was the Texas Strip with the Mac & Cheese. The quality of the steak was definitely on point and cooked perfectly to my liking. The surprise on this entree was the Mac & Cheese. This item tends to come out bland at the places I go to that offer it but this one was liquid gold and definitely one of the best I have had so far. The second entrée was the Blackened Redfish with Truffle Fries. The redfish on its own was delicious but with that spicy cream sauce it was pure chef's kiss. Service (5/5): The service here was top notch as you would expect from a nice establishment as this one. The door was opened for us as we walked up to the entrance and greeted with a welcoming hello as we walked in. Our server Jaden provided great service being friendly and attentive making sure our first time visit here was an enjoyable one. Woof. I have been to all of Marty's restaurants and love them all. Had been saving 1845 for a special occasion, and we went there for my Wife's birthday this past weekend. To say I am disappointed would be an understatement. I am actually kind of shocked at how bad the steaks were. I got the porterhouse on special and my wife got the strip. Neither steak was seared, like at all. The porterhouse was drowned in compound butter and came out cold, and the peppercorn sauce just tasted like a regular brown gravy. Really just a terrible showing and I can say that's a first at any of his restaurants. The fried jalapeños were awesome and the 1845 salad was fantastic too. This Lakeside steakhouse with it's posh decor and endless country tracks providing background music is the epitome of southern fine dining. The ambiance gives a special occasion vibe, but the fact that it's one of Marty B's establishments means that there isn't a hint of pretentiousness here. Before even mentioning the food I have to point out how impeccable the service was from beginning to end. Our server was very attentive and all of our food and drinks arrived quickly. Cocktails came first, an old fashioned for my husband and an 1845 margarita for me. They were well balanced and so smooth and tasty it was evident that they used top shelf liquors. Now onto the food...We both started with caesar salads. They were pretty standard, but for me, a standard caesar salad is still a good thing. For entrees my husband got a 7oz. filet with green beans and I had the salmon with jalapeno mac and cheese. He thought the flavor of his steak was delicious and the meat was as tender as it could be. His only issue was that it was closer to rare than the medium rare he requested. My salmon was buttery soft and perfectly cooked. The jalapeno mac and cheese was gooey and scrumptious. As outstanding as they were, I would have preferred them both to be a tiny bit less salty. Although I consider our issues to be minor, I feel like they're amplified by the high menu prices, which is where the 4 star rating comes from. Nevertheless, the whole experience was still unforgettable and enjoyable so I would absolutely return. So much that we had to chat with the Manager, Bobby about him. The rib eyed steak - medium rare was scrumptious and the sides: mushrooms, baked potatoes & green beans cooked perfectly. The chop was beautifully presented, the smoke rings, the tenderness, juicy full of flavor chop. The entire table was astonished on how beautifully cooked and power packed with flavor it was. I tell you when I went caveman on the bone I had no shame that I was in a high end restaurant. My inner meatavore had to clean the bone of all its meat. I'm pretty sure the bone would have tasted good as well. On to the Texas sampler. I'm telling you as I am replaying this meal in my head my mouth is salivating for the flavors and textures of all these items. Ok so sampler, comes with pork belly sliders with a homemade Dr Pepper glaze, the tender, moist lightly battered quail drum and thigh, buttery, flaky deep fried jalapeño chips with a homemade ranch, Pablano cheese meatballs with jalapeño jelly. I have to say from lowest to blow your mind, turtle cheesecake, seriously just a cheesecake, then the churro perfect bite. Now we are getting somewhere with the bourbon peach cobbler. I mean I'm not peach guy but this was outstanding. Then when I tell you that I took a bite of this next dessert and said I'm pretty sure grandmas back there cooking this up I'm not kidding. Kicker it's actually the grandmothers recipe of the chef or owner. Oh you want to know what dessert it is, it's the blueberry crumble. So so good.
