It's quiet, cozy, and has a great atmosphere for a relaxed dinner![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The portions are also huge Our server was wonderful from start to finish. He was friendly, attentive, and checked on us often without being overbearing. The service was honestly the best part of the experience. We started with the Sichuan calamari, and this was easily the highlight of the meal. It was perfectly crispy, the glaze had just the right amount of sweetness and heat, and the seasoning gave it a nice kick without overpowering the calamari. It was one of the best calamari dishes I've had and definitely raised my expectations for everything that followed. Next was the tenderloin bruschetta, and unfortunately this one just didn't work for me. The flavors didn't come together, and it was much saltier than it needed to be. It felt like there were too many things happening on the plate without much balance. I wouldn't order it again. For the entrées, the Chilean Sea Bass was very good. The fish was flaky and cooked well, the risotto was creamy, and the sauce brought everything together without being too heavy. It was one of the stronger dishes we ordered. The lobster stuffed ravioli was another solid choice. The filling was generous, there was plenty of lobster on top, and the vodka sauce complemented everything nicely without taking over. It was rich but still well balanced. We also tried the New Zealand rack of lamb. This one had mixed reviews at our table. It wasn't as tender as I was hoping, but I didn't dislike it and again I didn't love it! The blackened exterior and the wine reduction gave it good flavor, but it just wasn't particularly memorable. My favorite entrée ended up being the tomahawk pork chop. The pork itself was juicy, flavorful, and cooked really well. I wasn't a huge fan of the pineapple bourbon glaze since I didn't think it added much to the dish, but the quality of the meat made up for it. We also had the strawberry spinach salad, which was fresh and a nice lighter option alongside all the richer dishes. Then there was also a side dish with green beans and almond and again no complains there. Overall, I left feeling a little conflicted. The service was outstanding, the atmosphere was great, and the portions were very generous. The food itself was a mix of really good dishes and others that completely missed the mark. After such an incredible start with the calamari, I expected the rest of the meal to be on the same level, but it just never got there. Brunch at Winewood is always a hit! Made a reservation thru Open Table and called the restaurant for a special request. The restaurant had ensured the tables were set and ready for us. We had a great meal here with out of town friends. They have plenty of space inside and out for large parties. Even have large flat screens by the bar for the avid sports fan. All the entrees we ordered were really good. Some highlights included: wagyu strip, ribeye, and jambalaya pasta. The meat was grilled perfectly, nothing tasted overly done. We ordered a variety of appetizers including tenderloin bruschetta, quail knots, and raw oysters. All were great choices. They came out before our drinks, but we didn't mind. The server was very communicative about the bar backup. My blackberry lemon drop was tasty and not too sweet. My boyfriend and I split the rack of lamb and lobster ravioli. We celebrated the engagement of my daughter and her fiancé last night at Winewood. The staff at the bar was solid and delivered solid drinks, even brought me anchovies for my martini. I thought the quail appetizer was very good but the rest of the meal was meh. It wasn't bad but lacked a savory taste that I would expect from a $30 plate. My girlfriend and I had pecan encrusted trout and the snapper respectively. Again it was underwhelming for the price. Worse, we saw the price of a steak was $85. Considering how disappointed we were with the seafood (their specialty) I cannot believe the steak wood merit such a price. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What really ticked me off is they seated us in a room with hard surfaces that prevented us from hearing each other or the staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had to ask our waiter to move to my end of the table and repeat the night's specials. It would have been better to seat us away from other patrons as we didn't want to hear their conversation[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. We came here with friends who recommended it, and wow! The food was absolutely fantastic. Not just some of the food--all of it was so delicious! Definitely give the Quail Knots a try. The waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly, and our drinks were never empty. The sauce that comes with it is absolutely fantastic. The lobster Mac and cheese is so creamy and flavorful. My party devoured it. The entrees included a sandwich, chicken fried steak, and a prime rib. The entire party thought the food was excellent, especially for the price. Two members had mimosas, pineapple and grapefruit. They're ok and get the job done. Staff will accommodate if you let them know it's your birthday. Service - No complaints. The staff and waiter were friendly and attentive. Ambiance - From location to the interior decor, this is a classy place. Seating is very good with ample space and privacy for your party. Winewood is a good Grapevine staple.
