The pictures and reviews looked good but this place was garbage. I'd like to be kind and say my visit was so garbage because I went on a weekend, about 90 min before close. I'd like to say that but I doubt it. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. garbage. I'm not the most sophisticated diner, but I've been to restaurants, including nice and upscale. My sense is that this place and staff think more of themselves and their establishment than they should. The staff was extremely rude and condescending. I didn't complain at all or push back, which I normally would in such a situation, but I was with company and did not desire to engage the staff's horrible demeanor. I had one question about one of the specials, and I was talked to like I was dumb or low class. It was extremely inappropriate. The server, in an condescending tone, started asking me if I new what certain food items were. The salmon, which I ordered medium-well came back rare and barely cooked. I wasn't going to make an issue but the server started pressing me on how it was and I told him undercooked. He then got upset and demanded that I affirmatively tell him to take it back, which was unnerving because I wasn't going to bring it up. Then the manager comes over and says they'd prepare another salmon but that it will still be pink. I know what color salmon is, everyone does. This was another example of an under the surface condescension that the staff exuded. The drinks were normal. Specialty drinks were unremarkable. I would've had dessert but I just wanted to get out of there and put the establishment and it's ugly energy behind me. read more

What beautiful restaurant with exceptional service and food that was prepared to perfection. Wine selection for lunch was beautifully paired with 8oz filet loin steak and truffle mash with the best caper brown sauce. We shared a fresh beet salad that had mandarin orange and strawberry. We also shared one of the best burgers I have had in years! I attribute the open wood fired grill to the great steak and burger but I cant say enough about our sweet waitress who had the most bubbly personality and was accommodating in every way. I have eaten here twice over the years of traveling to Dallas on business. I just don't know what to do with this place. Let's start with the positives. Great location. Servers have both been great - very knowledgeable about the menus and the options, clearly explained all specials. The vibe of the place is really good. Definitely has a upscale feel to it when you enter. Really nice layout. Very comfortable and inviting. The food. Salads were ok. This time I had the caprese salad. It was really just underwhelming. I don't know why. It just really seemed to lack a real strong flavor. I had the chilean sea bass - it looked amazing upon arrival to the table. But it was essentially room temperature as it had definitely been sitting for a few minutes. The portion was really good, but the flavor just completely missed. The risotto that came along with it was good, not really great. For the price, the location, the service and the vibe, the food just didn't make it the complete experience. Kind of disappointing. My first time. We were seated right away at 6:00 p.m. on a Wednesday. The dining area was immaculate and inviting. Out waiter was delightful, helpful and attentive. THE FOOD! My Chilean Sea Bass was perfect. Buttery, flakey, melt in your mouth with risotto and a cream sauce. My companion had the Chicken Cordon Bleu. It was so savory and tender with amazing whipped potatoes. We also enjoyed the fabulous Bruschetta to start. I will absolutely go back! Delicious!! Attended a charity event at Winewood with a curated menu and wine pairing. Given the unique experience I will only rate the food here which was SUPERB. Perfectly cooked meats included quail, sea bass and NY strip, 5 stars for food quality and flavor with upscale presentation. Additionally, We had a terrific wine pairing with our courses, staff was professional, knowledgeable and attentive. The parking lot is small but they have valet as an option, otherwise you can street park or use one of the parking lots across the street (only at night after the business has closed). read more

This was our first time coming to Winewood! We had made a reservation but phone arrival, realized that it was that busy. The inside has a large bar, a huge wine wall and lots of natural light! They do serve brunch until 3pm which was great and also had brunch beverages! For a starter, we ordered the spinach artichoke dip. It came with a lot of chips, but not enough dip in my opinion. Flavors were good and they also give you a side of salsa as well which was interesting. For entrees, I ordered the quiche Lorraine and it was pretty good. It had good flavors but is pretty basic compared to others that I've had in the past. The skillet potatoes were great though! Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The meal came with a side of fruit and poppy seed yogurt. I was a little apprehensive about the poppy seed yogurt but it was actually fantastic! I wish that I had more of it haha my husband ordered the crab and lobster Benedict. He gave it a 4/5 rating but we both agreed that it didn't have much seafood on it. One of my favorite stops when I'm DFW. I train every 6 months DFW as a Captain. I always "treat " myself after passing my checkride by having a meal here. The service is ALWAYS great. Christian was working the bar today and did an outstanding job! The bar staff is consistently on point here. Not only was she friendly and prompt, she also went out of her way to help my get a dinner entree when the kitchen was still on brunch. I had one of my favorites ... the rack of lamb med rare. Came here recently with a large group for a retirement dinner. I was hesitant to come because I'm vegan but I called in advance & was assured by the hostess that they would have something to accommodate me. I alerted our server when I arrived & he was able to confirm with the chef and provide me some options. I ended up ordering the lettuce cups as an appetizer and a mix of grilled vegetables for my entree. I will say, the lettuce cups were better than the entree and could've made an entree by themselves (they were huge!). The grilled vegetables weren't that great, a little bland and could've used some kind of grain to go with. Service and valet were great. Private room was private despite the restaurant being busy. This may not be on my regular rotation but I know this place can accommodate a vegan if I need to come again. read more

Somehow Winewood has escaped my notice until searching this morning for a new brunch spot. It is located in Grapevine off south Main on that attractive circle and plaza that is home to both Mí Día and Mac's. As the noise level was quite loud due to the live music featured at Sunday brunch we opted for seating in the comfortable and quite quiet enclosed patio that faces the plaza. The brunch menu offers a bottle of French brut champagne for $18 with the choice of four juices. We chose to enjoy the champagne sans juice and it proved to be remarkably good. The restaurant offers a fairly extensive wine and spirits list. The brunch/lunch menu features a substantial variety of offerings that should please most any palate. In addition to many traditional dishes Winewood offers its own unique and innovative twist on a number of breakfast classics. We each chose one of those; my wife the Butter Poached Crab and Lobster Benedict and I the Cajun Benedict. The former features crab, lobster, diced tomato, and spinach on an English muffin with a super buttery Hollandaise sauce. I thought the dish would have been better served by a Hollandaise with more lemon and a dash of Crystal or Tabasco, but it was nonetheless quit enjoyable. The Cajun Bene consists of a crab cake atop an English muffin topped by a flavorful Cajun cream sauce with shrimp, crab and crawfish. The eggs in both dishes were poached absolutely perfectly. The dishes include a generous portion of skillet potatoes in a small dice and cooked with chopped onions, poblano and red bell peppers; and a cup of small dice fresh fruit with a yogurt and poppyseed dressing which compliments the fruit wonderfully. Our server, Ashley, was perfectly attentive, efficient and very pleasant. We plan to visit next Friday to dive into the lunch menu! read more

Had some friends from out of town that wanted to go to Mi Dia on Good Friday. We went at 4:30pm and there was an hour long wait so we went to Winewood instead. This place is still just as great as I remembered. I do not remember our servers name specifically but I love their teamwork. Multiple different people did refills on drinks and cleared empty plates immediately. We shared a couple of delicious appetizers, Tenderloin Bruschetta $16.00 and the Lump Crab Cakes $15.00. The crab cakes have big chunks of crab in it and the sauce it comes with is great! The tenderloin is also quite good, nice balance with the balsamic reduction. I had one of their specials, the Scallops Entree $50.00. This came with risotto, which was just okay, kind of bland even with the sauces. The scallops though were absolutely delicious. They were large, semi sweet and perfectly cooked. I could probably have eaten 2 orders. I did also get try their Lobster Mac & Cheese which was very creamy and quite good as well. After dinner some of us went to the bar and had a few more drinks, great bartenders as well! I was glad that we ended up back here by chance, I would highly recommend this place! read more

We were seated immediately and the hostess greeted us warmly as we headed to our table. Our waiter, Brandon arrived and brought water to the table. Otherwise the dish was very, very mediocre. dessert: Brookie (brownie-cookie) with ice cream - this was just bad. Dry, overly sweet. Service was excellent. Restaurant was clean, decor a little dated but comfortable. We had a private area so likely not representative of the regular dining experience here. Plenty of parking. I met my friend here for our little Christmas gift exchange and to enjoy some drinks and appetizers. We sat at the bar and the drinks and service were great. The food, just ok. We ordered the seared Ahi Tuna appetizer and the lump crab cakes. The tuna appetizer tasted ONLY of ginger. You couldn't taste the fish, the veggies, nothing but ginger. It is very aromatic and just permeated everything. The crab cakes were kind of small, and pretty average. There were a couple noticeable pieces of crab, but mostly binder. Though the sauce was really good. I would pass on both in the future. One of my clients swears by their brunch and I would come back to give it a try. Went here on a weeknight with some work colleagues for a business dinner. It was unusually busy for a Tuesday night. Winewood has a really nice atmosphere, but it is very loud in the restaurant. If you are wanting to have any type of productive discussion, there is not a great place in this restaurant to do so. Whenever I have made reservations there for a business dinner, I have specified that we have a "quiet table" and that has never quite worked out for us. I did notice some private rooms off to the side, but it looked like they were for larger groups. I have also been here on my personal time; for that purpose the atmosphere was perfect! It is upscale but casual and trendy. Our server was Tahreon. He was very polite and took good care of us. He was very attentive to my food allergy needs and made sure that I knew that extra care had been taken in the preparation of my food. Service was good but a tad slow; I chalked that up to how busy they were. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer. It came with a thai chili sauce that was really good. Just the right amount of heat. The calamari was the thick sliced strips of squid, which I personally prefer. My colleagues ordered boring salads for their entrees. One ordered the wedge while the other ordered the steak salad. They were happy with them, so I suppose that's good. I ordered the chilean sea bass and it was excellent. The fish was perfectly cooked and was served with delicious risotto. The portions were perfect. I have also included some pictures with this review of some of my other visits here where my daughter and I have ordered the tuna appetizer (amazing), lobster ravioli (she said that is off the charts good), and creme brulee. You may ask why not 5 stars?? This restaurant is always good...It just doesn't always wow me. It is a solid 4 to 4.5 star place though. Warning-- if you have allergies, they may not take you seriously. I listed my sesame seed/oil allergy on my OpenTable reservation, told my waiter, and chose a dish that did not list sesame in its ingredients. Imagine my surprise when my fish came back with sesame seeds all over it! When I questioned the waiter, he said so you have a nut allergy? Which is confusing since my salad had almonds all over it. What it signaled to me is their staff are not educated. Sesame is one of the big 9 allergens and should be clearly identified in food. Long story short, I paid for my salad (not cool), booked another $35 uber back to my hotel, and ordered subpar room service, that was thankfully sesame free. What is sad--our first visit to this restaurant was excellent. If you have no allergies and like a well cooked steak, this is your place. Glad I was able to avoid an emergency room visit! And will not be returning on any of our future visits here. (We are in Dallas often for work and family) read more

I decided to choose this location for my Birthday Dinner spot with my better half and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The environment and service were great for the cozy dinner for two. Appetizer: SEARED AHI TUNA 16 Which had jerk seasoned fresh tuna, seared rare, with Asian tomato, cucumber, and ginger relish, sweet chili garlic sauce served on wonton crisps. I was happier with the tuna than the Asian salad topper. I am not a fan of ginger and this was very powerful in the bites I did take. 2/5 Entree: CHICKEN CORDON BLEU 25 The parmesan-crusted chicken with baby swiss cheese, cream cheese spread & black forest ham topped with rosemary bleu cheese sauce was so good. I opted to change out my sides for saffron risotto which was the better option in my opinion because it was fo favorable and creamy. I am a sauce girl, so you'd be surprised how I was taken aback by their blue cheese sauce which is one of my least favorite cheeses however, their version was so yummy I had to ask for more! 5/5 Entree 2: CAJUN JAMBALAYA PASTA 28 Had a big helping of sauteed chicken, shrimp, and andouille sausage with red onions, roasted poblano, and red peppers in a spicy Cajun sauce over fettuccine. This dish is so filling and you will have leftovers that will be just as good the next day! 5/5 Due to it being a celebration a complimentary dessert was provided: three layers chocolate cake 9 This cake was so chocolaty and the warm drizzle of chocolate mixed with ice cream was the perfect ending to an overall great birthday dinner. Pricing was avg from what you would expect at an upscale establishment such as this but they also offered dishes well within reasonable pricing. I went in with high hopes for Winewood. My friend and I started with their happy hour and then went to a table a little while later. Unfortunately, the food wasn't as impressive as we were hoping. The Mac and cheese really left us disappointed. There could (and should) have been so much flavor with the bacon and Gouda sauce. For my entree I ordered the Texas Redfish. That was delicious and definitely the stand out item I tried that evening. We ended the meal with the infamous brookie and it was not equal portions brownie and cookie.
