Whiskey Cake Kitchen & Bar - Comfort, Cocktails, and a Sweet Finish A quick stop in Fort Worth to visit friends during our six-week road trip led us here, and it turned into one of those "glad we chose this place" kind of nights. The space is large, comfortable, and full of life, even on a Wednesday evening. There are cozy sofa corners if you want something a little more intimate, plus an outdoor area that's "outside"... but not too outside, which honestly feels like a win. Drinks were a highlight. My boulevardier was spot on, and then I shared a smoked Old Fashioned with my friend that was just... exquisite. Smooth, balanced, and a little dramatic in the best way. Food held its own. The chicken and waffles were delicious, the chopped chicken salad was fresh and satisfying, and my friend's Reuben got a lot of love from her side of the table. And then came dessert. We shared the Whiskey Cake with praline ice cream, and let's just say, it lives up to the name. Decadent, rich, and absolutely worth it. Service was really good. Attentive without hovering, and thoughtful in those small ways that stand out. At one point, our server split the Old Fashioned for us without us even asking. That kind of anticipation earns points. This is the kind of place you return to when you're back in town. Comfortable, reliable, and just indulgent enough to feel like a treat.

Fantastic happy hour! There is a Whiskey Cake in Jacksonville so visiting one and another city wasn't top of my list however on Cinco de Mayo when the Mexican restaurant next-door is over a two hour wait I figured I'd stop in to Whiskey Cake for a margarita. I am so glad I stopped in the happy hour was happening and so I was able to grab a seat at the bar and get a margarita for $7!!! Well if I'm being honest, technically I got two margaritas for that price! The service was wonderful. I came about 15 minutes before happy hour was over and the server came around and double checked on everyone in her section prior to happy hour being over and let them know it was coming close to being over so we could put our last orders in! Well, I might not have gotten the quesadilla. I want it. I am really happy that I was able to get a margarita on Cinco de Mayo thank you Whiskey Cake!

Service was quick, and the atmosphere was exactly what you'd hope for. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The candied bacon was overwhelmingly salty and completely missed the mark. The bowl of chili was also disappointing--Tabasco was the only flavor that really came through. Ironically, the best part of the meal was the crackers served with the chili. They were the highlight of the dish and honestly helped bring my overall rating up to three stars.

Went there this morning for Mother's Day Brunch. We had a 9:00 reservation and we were seated immediately. The Ambiance was great - really hip and cool. Lots of space. The food was great - I had excellent Fish & Chips, my wife had the Black Forest French Toast (like a dessert!) and the kids had Chicken Waffles. And my Cold Fashion was to die for! We drew the short straw and didn't get the best waitress. We had to ask for water and didn't get the extras that came with the meal (no malt vinegar for F&C, not hot honey for waffles) but that was an anomaly as I watched the other wait staff being quite attenative to their tables and them getting all the fixin's. We will go back and give it another shot.

Steak tips with fries (included). $30 or so. January 2026

Not my first time at Whiskey Cake. But don't think I've ever had dinner here. BUSY on a weeknight, but looks like mainly company hosted guests. Got the steak tips (can't remember the exact wording) - medium rare. A little over $30. comes with fries, some peppers. It was good but don't think it was anything out of the world. It was pretty filling with the fries. Standard entree at an American restaurant. The whiskey cake! It was moist! I don't know if I tasted the whiskey exactly, but a little.

If I'm being completely honest, I would go hear and get a piece of Whiskey Cake EVERYDAY if I wasn't worried about my sugar intake. The restaurant is named after it for a reason. This visit we didn't get any entrees or drinks we were there for the cake. We don't have one in our state so we were ECSTATIC to find out there were a few in the metroplex area. We did go 2 out of our 4 days there. Just get the cake, ask for a middle piece. Everything is locally sourced and the whipped cream is made fresh and you can tell. Every bite is heaven. The slices are pretty big so 2 of us share one. The service is fantastic and fast. Zero complaints. We also learned on our last visit that they ship the whiskey cake.. not sure they should've told me this lmao because I will be ordering.

Great service from start to finish. The chicken and waffles were delicious and definitely a standout dish. Everything came out well prepared and flavorful. One thing to note: they only offer regular coffee, so don't expect specialty or fancy coffee drinks. Overall, a solid experience with good food and attentive service. Would come back.

Met up with some friends here for dinner and it was popping! I've never seen a place so busy on a Tuesday. Great atmosphere. We checked in with the hostess and were warmly greeted and seated right away. They have happy hour from 3-6pm with specials on drinks and bar bites, so right away we put in an order for a couple of drinks and the tater tots. We also got the Brussels sprouts. For my main, I ordered the steak frites and subbed the fries for the Cajun butter potatoes. I also got the happy hour old fashioned and an espresso martini. The steak was good, and although I didn't taste much of a Cajun flavor on the potatoes, I liked how they were cooked. The Brussels sprouts are amazing, highly recommend. I also enjoyed my drinks. I was so full after my meal that I didn't have room for dessert, but I would love to try the whiskey cake next time.

Lunch was great and service was great. Had the plank salmon which was nice and had a great sauce with the mushrooms. Serving size was great for lunch. Table split the Chocolate Whiskey Cake which everyone loved. Nice interior.

Super fun atmosphere. We had a business dinner with 12 people. The waiter, Riley, was so attentive and friendly and his recommendations were spot on.. I ordered the steak salad and the steak was cooked perfect. Plate presentation was excellent. Everyone was super happy with their selections. You can't go wrong with anything in the menu.

I visited Whiskey Cake for a birthday celebration and it was such a great time! The ambience was nice, the lights were dim but it wasn't too dark to see and I loved the eclectic design of the restaurant. Our server Francisco was so kind, attentive, and gracious even when we asked him to take pictures of us after our meal. The food was great I got a Chicken Melt which was delicious! I'll definitely be back.

I've visited Whiskey cake in Houston before and it was decent food for a chain. My friend and I were intown and decided to try it out. Well they redid their whole menu anddd the choices are even more limited for a pescatarian... Seeing as how I only eat seafood I ordered items off the app menu and a battered fish filet. Ummmm I didn't like either fried fish at all. They definitely use old grease and the batter is just too thick. The deviled eggs were really good and my beverage was just okay. Now the belle of the ball was the whiskey cake! Plus the ice cream. Ya can't really miss with dessert. Also our waiter was really good and friendly!

Is there a HH? If so what are the days/times and discount? TIA

    Is there a party room?

They have room that can be used for large parties.

Is Happy Hour still happening on Fridays? I've seen some comments it is not. Just want to confirm.

    No.

What's the best seating area, High top, inside or patio?

    That's a matter of preference.

Are masks being required? And is this place kid friendly?

When I went in early November, masks were not required, only recommended.

Should I make a reservation or would I be able to walk in and get a table (dinner time)? EDIT:…

You can make a reservation for convenience and to ensure you have a space! However, when I went, there was no need for one.

    Do they offer wifi?

Yes, they do. We were there just last week

Are you open on New Years Day?

    Yes why wouldn't they be.

Do you have vegetarian-friendly patties for your burgers?

Yes! We have the beyond meat burger.

Is there a time that brunch ends on Sundays or do they serve the full menu all day?

Hello Bree! Brunch ends at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sundays but we are able to execute a few of the item's all the time. Feel free to email me at tj.staples@whiskey-cake.com if you have any other questions. Thank you! TJ Staples Managing Partner

Do they allow dogs in the patio area? Trying to find a decent restaurant allowing furry friends :)

My Overall Rating - 5 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - Tupelo Honey is a stand-alone restaurant conveniently located near Hwy 114 and 161. There's plenty of parking, outdoor seating, and a mixture of tables, booths, and bar seating. Speaking of the bar, it acts as a beautiful backdrop for the entire restaurant. 1 Star. Service - The service is always friendly. Our server is always smiling, and I can't help but feel welcome with southern charm. Tupelo Honey trains its staff well, and I really enjoy coming here and interacting with the staff. 1 Star. Food - I always begin with the Biscuits with a Cause. These light, flakey biscuits are served warm with a crispy exterior and soft, flakey inside. But honestly, the biscuits act as a delivery mechanism for the butter and blue berry jam. I always ask for an extra side of butter and jam because I use it all. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Honey Dusted Fried Chicken (dark). The chicken was perfectly fried, crispy, and sweet. And the dark meat was juicy. Pro Tips - use your hands. Another great dish was experienced. 2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I have yet to have a below average dish at Tupelo Honey. Yes, it's a chain. But it's also a darn good chain that keeps its menu fresh and is worth multiple visits. 1 Star.

For sides, I chose the mac and cheese, cornbread, tallow fries, and Brussels sprouts. This is the kind of meal you remember for a while. The Wagyu tomahawk ribeye was the star of the table. Tender, flavorful, and packed with that rich beefy taste you'd expect from a steak of that caliber. The garlic stuffed filet was incredibly tender and added another layer of flavor, while the New York strip had a great texture and a perfect mesquite grilled finish. The Gulf shrimp were cooked well and added a nice contrast to all the steak. Smoky, juicy, and full of flavor. The sides were excellent across the board. The mac and cheese was creamy and rich, the cornbread was warm and comforting, the tallow fries were crispy and addictive, and the Brussels sprouts provided a nice balance to the feast. The restaurant itself has a true Texas atmosphere with a rustic upscale feel. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, and made the whole experience feel special. This wasn't just dinner. Stood at the bar for 5 min being ignored by the bartender even after we made eye contact several times and he knew I had a question (not busy at all).
