My husband has been to Macs on Main several times, boasting about how good the food is - and he's right! The whole experience was next level. The restaurant is warm and inviting, with a main dinning room of all wood table/chairs - but around the corner of the bar is a more relaxed and boutique style eating area. Truly it was lovely! And the bartender waited on us and she was attentive and informative. We both ordered the southern fried chicken and mmmmmmm - yes it was perfection! The gravy is homemade (no gravy mix here) and the loaded baked potato was spot on too. Before our dinner we ordered the salad and it's done family style. And the bread - another stand out! Had a group of eight out for the wife's birthday. These guys always do a top-notch job. Good food, good wine selection, great service in a nice setting. Looking for a new Sunday brunch venue we decided to visit Mac's on Main today and are very happy to have now discovered this great brunch spot. I'm not at all crazy about the way the restaurant is partitioned into these various smaller areas. It feels confined, isolated and claustrophobic to me. I like to experience the vibe of an entire restaurant scene when I dine out. That's an important part of a restaurant experience for me. But, that's just me. Mac's offers an expansive brunch menu and a nice wine list. My wife began with a mimosa ($4.50!) and I a Maker''s Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was exceptionally well done. Perfectly bourbon forward with just the right amount of simple syrup and bitters. A+. We decided to share the Eggs Point St. George, a Bene with lump crab meat (not a crab cake). The poached eggs were cooked perfectly. The Hollandaise was standard Hollandaise fare which I perked up a bit to my taste with some hot sauce. Though we shared the entree we each received a plate consisting of a generous portion of berries, melon and fresh pineapple, all of which were perfectly ripe and sweet. We came in on Saturday night without a reservation and a manager did her best to fit us in. Our party of five wasn't all there yet so we had a drink at the bar. Two Tito martinis that were made well but were small, 3 ounces but the price was right. Once seated, we Ordered our entrées with side salads. It was unlimited salad so that was satisfying. I ordered the pork chops, which were fabulous. Came with two chops and I substituted a vegetable for the starchy carb. Others had prime rib, which came out way too rare, grilled shrimp, and the fried chicken. Also, one had a fillet that was bacon wrapped, but that was pulled off immediately. That always screams prepackaged fillet to me, but she said it was good. The dining room is different and I couldn't put my finger on it until later when I realized it didn't have any carpet so maybe that was what was throwing me off. I had a friend in town who wanted to experience Main st. I wanted to try something new so we went with Macs. I feel this place has so much potential, nice location, nice ambiance, nice menu. It just lacks flavor! Everything we had, was 0 flavor. Let's start with the salad. The waiter claimed it was the equivalent to Olive Garden. Not even close. He said everyone raves about the house Vinaigrette dressing, It tasted like oil to me, no taste. The tomatoes with the salad were mush. Now for the entrees. Had the filet w/mash and the Grilled Gulf shrimp over rice and Jicama salsa. Once again, everything was bland. I had to eat the mangos with the jacima salsa to make the shrimp flavorful. Went here for a work trip with 7 other coworkers. Overall, we enjoyed the food and had a really good time here! We ordered several apps to share (the calamari, scallops, and poke). The poke was my favorite of the three. I ordered the Scottish salmon and the Mac and cheese as a side. They say the salmon is cooked medium rare. I found the edges dry, but the medium-rare part in the middle was definitely the best. The Mac and cheese was also a solid side. "Why have we never been here before?" "Because we're dumb." This was restated frequently during our 12.08.23 visit here for Happy Hour and a meal. We sat at the bar and were taken care of by the amazing Savannah, who hustles drinks and food like very few can. We both ordered the gumbo and unlimited salad, which also comes with house made bread. The beautifully simple salad came out accompanied by chilled serving plates. If you like bleu cheese, this is the salad for you! Romaine lettuce topped with tomatoes, onions and bleu cheese mixed with a delicious house dressing - more, please! And the bread - light fluffy warm bread served on a hot plate with a side of whipped butter - that just says it all. Our gumbo was excellent and hearty. I have never had gumbo in Louisiana, so I couldn't speak to its authenticity, but it was very tasty. With the attention given to the other dishes we saw rolling out of the kitchen, I am sure this gumbo is legit. And as good as it was, it doesn't matter. My first time to this location; we went for Sunday brunch. I really miss the days of the buffet and the fresh cinnamon roll; most of my rolls were hard as a rock. Server was a bit neglectful when it came to filling our waters and bringing us the bill. The restaurant has the same feel as the Arlington location but this one has a patio which is a nice addition. My Eggs Florentine was tasty; the eggs were cooked perfectly. I wasn't a fan of the potatoes, too much salt for me. Highly recommend and the flower itself is also edible - reminded me of eating lychee. For apps, both their salads are great, especially their summer salad. Their prime rib is phenomenal! Very tender and accompanied by a dressed baked potato. If you have to decide anything from the menu, you need to try the lamb chops! Their lamb chops are some of the best I've ever had, and it comes with cheesy scallop potatoes. We had the apple galette with cinnamon ice cream and key lime pie for dessert. Mac's on Main was great! We met up with some friends to catch up and shared the Ahi Tuna Poke and Meatballs as a table. The tuna was paired this great cream cheese and avocado sauce. It was so good, we asked the waiter if he knew the recipe! The meatballs were good -- not too moist, but they weren't dry either. My husband and I shared a New York strip. It was supposed to be medium rare, but it was more so medium. It wasn't overcooked though despite this fact. It was also seasoned well. We paired it with a house salad which comes with a house salad in Italian dressing. I would ask for less dressing cause it was a bit drenched. We sat in a corner seat which was cozy. We were in a seafood mood so we started with the grilled sea scallop appetizer: perfectly cooked, sweet, golden-brown seared scallops sitting atop an avocado corn relish around a bed of greens drizzled in balsamic vinegar.. so good! Our seafood mood progressed and we ordered blackened orange roughy with crawfish Étouffée (on the side since it isn't gluten free) with a loaded baked potato, and the grilled gulf shrimp with a side of jicama salsa and basil mashed potatoes. We took the train from Ft worth to grapevine and made a reservation here. It's a very nice restaurant and our waiter Jason was able to answer all our questions and was very attentive. Went for girls night with 2 girlfriends of mine and it was just ok for me. Probably won't come back. Waiter needed better skills as he was rude as heck! He was young so that explains it. Food was ok. Pork chops were dry. Needed seasoning. Drinks were pretty good. The person that made it the best was the wait staff (the person who cleans) he was on top of it. First I asked for a taste of a Pinot Noir which they served by the glass and was told no we don't do tastings. I just want to know if it was light or a bold Pinot which the server had no clue. I asked if he might be able to consult with someone. I've never been in a place where we were never provided a taste of a wine served by the glass. Then after dinner the server came to the table and told us the birthday girl gets a complimentary key line cheese cake. And asked if anyone wanted anything else. I know the birthday girl loves chocolate. So when the server came back, o asked if we could do the chocolate cake instead and he said no that we could not substitute. It was not or ever about the money. It was the lack of accommodation on anything. I would not recommend this place if it's in you list to try. There are so many options in Grapevine and this is not what I would consider a friendly restaurant. read more

3 1/2 stars because this is a hard one to pin down to star rating as we had service problems acerbated by kitchen. Although, I believe the kitchen problem was the fault of the server. Upon arrival, I questioned menu items for gluten and the server helpfully brought me a GF menu. I ordered the salmon from the GF menu and requested no glaze as menu instructions. However, I received the salmon covered in glaze. Also noted was the strange way the salmon was portioned, vertically versus the usual horizontal slices but cooked perfectly. I was just going to skip eating and drink my dinner (hubs would polish it off later), but my friend called over our server and I pointed out the glaze. She then pretends to not know I ordered it GF. Maybe she forgot? Anyway, she whisks it back to kitchen, where it returns 15 minutes later 1/2 sized, sans glaze, completely unseasoned and overcooked. What did she say to the chef as to why it was sent back? No idea. My friends ordered the ribeye, looked and per her was delicious. Her partner ordered the sad linguine with shrimp. Oddly, the smallish portion of pasta came out with the linguine in a pile and the shrimp cream sauce next to it on a flat plate. He said it was scrumptious though and cleaned it up. My husband ordered the chicken fried steak, Again smaller than a usual CFS, but not over breaded, perfectly cooked and he loved it. Other than those problems which sadly put me off the meal, the atmosphere is neither old school or modern and is quite comfortable. We usually enjoy Mac's on Main throughout the year and have good food and service but not this time. This was our fourth year to have dinner at Mac's before viewing the Holiday drone show. Our reservation was for 5:30. The drone show was at 7pm. Our food came out at 6:45. An hour and fifteen minutes. We did not see the drone show. The food was good but we couldn't enjoy it. We were very disappointed to not see the drone show. I'm not sure if there were issues in the kitchen or if it was our waiter. I'm not sure where the issue was. When I called and spoke with the manager of the evening he said we were packed. It was not. I guess I should have brought up the issues the evening we were there. I call it a cross between upscale and casual dining/based on the menu choices, prices, as well as the general look and feel of the place. We started with onion rings as an appetizer, It was a very large portion... clearly homemade, served with ketchup and only $4.50... a true value for what we got! We followed that with a house salad and complementary fresh baked bread. Once again, generous portion on the house salad for only $2.95. For the meal, we ordered the ahi tuna. I've been often disappointed with ahi when ordering in other places... but this was exceptionally good! Medium rare, moist and tasty. Served with an excellent sauce, along with broccoli and carrots. Oir group of three work colleagues stopped for lunch on our first visit to Mac's. We enjoyed the slightly spicy cheese soup and the complimentary loaf of bread (the dry kind that steak restaurants tend to serve). One of us ordered the grilled coven sandwich and was very pleased including the sweet potato fries with (white) gravy for dipping. One of us ordered the daily catch special (grilled halibut) topped with grilled onions (I thought it was a weird combo to be honest) and substituted onion rings as the side. The halibut was bland like halibut usually is but a little too dry. The lightly breaded 1/2 order of onion rings was excellent. The other of us ordered the roast beef sandwich with wilted (sautéed with olive oil) spinach. Both were fine but nothing to write home about. The atmosphere was classy and tended toward a traditional steak house with dark wood accents and classy, refined but comfortable service. We would come here again but probably wouldn't go far out of our way for a good but not great experience. read more
