We were looking for something fun to do after a stressful week.. we chose this place as it looked like something fun to try. They have a salad bar and after making our plates and having eaten some of this, i looked down and jumped because there was a little face looking back at me. I asked my boyfriend what it was and he slowly moved the salad leaves away to uncover the grandfather of all grasshoppers dead in it. No telling how many other people ate from that salad bowl hosting a dead bug. The waitress was appalled and went and got the manager right away. He came out and just was more surprised it was such a big one as he's not seen that before, only small ones he kept making excuses as well. We left without eating anything else or paying. From the moment you walk in, you are mesmerized by history. There must have 15 or more movies set dining areas that were just amazing. The food was awesome, but the most enjoyable, delightful, beautiful, mesmerizing, kinda out of this world was our jumbo sizes sludge hammer caring, server, Harley Quinn and her band of heroes, especially spider-man. This is our second year in a row to go for my daughters birthday. This year was slightly disappointing at the beginning but HUGE props to our servers, Spider Gwen and Mandalorian for saving the night and being absolutely awesome! We arrived at 4 and got in the line to get in, knowing we would have a wait but it was fine because last year we hung out upstairs and it was so fun. This year, not so much, the bar was shut down, due to staffing shortage. It was very dark and definitely wasn't the hopping place it was last year. The elevator was also broken so my grandmother really struggled to get up stairs. Then after about 50 minutes of waiting we were seated but they split our party up between two tables side by side and it devastated my daughter. We offered to wait even longer to be seated together but were told no. We debated on leaving but then our waitress showed up and she was PRECIOUS! She saved the night for my daughter. I hope they get staffing issues fixed to make upstairs lively again but as for the experience after that 10/10. The fun things happening, such as the waiters signature books, balloon artists, photographer, caricature artist, and most of all the magic show make the experience totally worth it. This place caught my wife's attention due to the character that were advertised for the kids. The service was good, however there were fans everywhere. The setting was a little different from what I have experienced in dinning. The location feels like it was thought of by someone having too many ideas about ambience but in my opinion not executed well. The place looked old, carpet on the floor could not have been clean, you could smell the mold hence the fans. This place could not be cleaned thoroughly from the way it is set up without having a professional crew come in every day. Kinda grossed me out looking around. The food was over priced and not that great. I guess we were paying for the experience more than food quality. Steak was tough, and not that flavorful. I came here's few weeks ago with about 6 friends. We had to wait to be seated since one friends was running late. No big deal. We were initially seated in a round booth but asked to be placed at a table since we had some bigger guys that probably wouldn't fit comfortably. The staff was super accommodating and had us moved to a table with way more space. Once seated, we were greeted by Shaggy. It was slightly awkward because we weren't quite sure what to expect. He was super loud and getting other table feedback to greet our table. It was kind of funny. We started to order food, he groaned about us choosing the Roman Orgy and how he'd be here all night cleaning it up. We shrugged it off and continued to order. The alcoholic beverages were great, no complaints. The others at the table ordered friend mushrooms and mozzarella sticks and said they were good. While we were having appetizers, we could hear shaggy shouting/singing his birthday song and more alarmingly, drop an F bomb during it. Normally I wouldn't be a prude but there were kids all over the restaurant including a few sitting at the table behind us. We all shrugged it off and thought maybe it was the vibe for that specific table. We shouldn't worry about it. Our food finally came and I was appalled to see shaggy use his hands to serve some of the fruit because the tongs weren't working out for him. We lost some fruit in the process. He started trying to throw blueberries into people's mouths which was unsanitary in my opinion...then he started putting veggies down and put leaves of lettuce on my head. I played it off because I didn't want to cause a scene. He finally left us for a while so we could eat in peace. The food itself wasn't bad. The brisket was actually good and we had super large portions. The chicken as a bit salty and dry but was fine after it was covered in gravy. The veggies and corn were good. No complaints there. One friend asked for a refill on a soda. Shaggy forgot but we asked again and he was happy to bring another... maybe a little too happy. He started pouring the soda on my friends head. Thankfully it was diet so it wasn't too sticky during clean up. We were all shocked. Our friend was chill about it but we were all furious. Shaggy came back a little while after and said "Sorry if that was too far." That pretty much ruined our night at that point. The only saving grace was the photographer that came around and showed us our face swapped photos. We ended up buying a few since they were hilarious. I wouldn't ever come back here if we're being honest. Had I known it was like Dick's Last Resort, I could've prepared myself to be more open minded but I thought this was going to be more family friendly. I ate at the MTM in San Antonio when I was 11 (MANY moons ago) and loved it. When I saw our hotel was by one, I told my husband we should pop in and eat there one night. I'm so glad we did. We got to the restaurant at 5:30 last night and had to wait 5-10 minutes. Although we waited an additional 5-10 minutes after being seated to have Merida come by, which was kind of annoying, we quickly realized it's because kids will stop the characters to ask for autographs or to get their picture taken (note: don't come here if you're on a time crunch). Merida rocked, though. She stayed in character and had us laughing the entire night. Jack Sparrow, Robin, and Spider Man also stayed in character. We were well entertained. My husband said he wants to have kids just so we can take them here (we plan on taking our nieces next time we're in Dallas). We had the chicken parmesan, and our food was served hot and fresh. I really don't know how this restaurant has horrid reviews. I saw some peeps complaining the place needs an upgrade - it was built in 1979 and has ton of character and charm. Plus, the decor matches similar restaurants around (Ida Claire is also quirky inside). People also griped about service or the staff acting cold - not the case for us at all. Every time a performer came to the table you're expected to tip so that added $60 for us. The photographer lady had no expression and seemed annoyed she had to deal with a table. The photograph is the only souvenir you leave with but it's still $20 including the tip on top of everything else. This place made me consider my dinner choice after walking in and looking at the decor. But I am so glad I chose to stay. After a 10-minute wait, the mystery was over. We were waited on by Barbie. We sat in the World Map booth. The potion drink was a whole vibe. My kids enjoyed the experience but did not drink the potion; they said it was too sweet. It had Sprite, orange juice, pineapple juice, and something else I can't remember, but yeah, it was loaded with sugar. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip for the appetizer; it was good and very creamy. My husband ordered lobster and steak, and he said it was good. I ordered the superhero pasta with shrimp and I quickly realized it was the appetizer spin dip mixed in the noodles. I didn't eat much, considering I already had spinach dip for the appetizer. The kids had cheese pizza and popcorn shrimp, and they enjoyed it. The salad bar was very fulfilling and good. I enjoyed that. I loved seeing all the different themed tables. Staff was very rude, to MY KIDS, the place smells horrible and very dirty. I don't think this restaurant has been cleaned in years, smears in the wall, dirt and dust everywhere, bathrooms were disgusting. Food was an absolute horror as well. We ordered the Roman orgy that came with brisket, chicken and a few sides. Chicken was incredibly dry, brisket was flavorless, potato's were ok. The server brought whole fruits out that were not cut and still had peels. Like whole oranges and pairs, we paid $200 for this dinner and we barely ate anything. They brought my daughter a birthday cookie that was hard as stone, she didn't even eat it. The only edible thing here was the salad bar, which was also messy and I was afraid to eat out of. I couldn't wait to get out of this place and cringe now when I think about it. Again, the smell alone should have been enough for me to walk out. Oh and we waited an hour and a half for a table. I'll start with the Pros: Food is decent, servers/actors are ok. Some get into character a little better than others, music is bumpin and ambience is exceptional. Cons: prices are kind of high. $20 easy for a plate and that's on the low end. The day we went it was super hot inside. I'm guessing AC problems. They did have fans but as we walked around we noticed some other areas of the restaurant were really fresh. Not sure why we were seated in the area with no air. The initial feeling I got when I walked in was sort of like when I used to go to my grandmas house. Place could use a fresh mind to improve on certain areas of the business. Balloon guy never came to the table. Only thing we got to do was get the autographs from all the characters. Other than that we pretty much ate and sweat most of the time. My daughter wasn't that impressed but she did think it was cool. It was a forgettable moment that I was expecting to be epic! Also, they don't offer the salad bar anymore. My nephew was in town so of course we wanted to take him to a place that I grew up and my brother grew up going to for years. This is always a great time for get together's or out of town guests or even just to celebrate something special with the family. We got Jack sparrow who never disappoints. They were short staffed but you would've never known it, the staff was incredible. The food was terrific and the drinks were on point. I had the salmon, which was perfect and a The rest of my family had the chicken and a surf and turf which was excellent. We finished up with dessert and coffee and the bartender even made fresh whipped cream. All in all I have to give kudos to the entire staff for holding it together because they were way busier than I thought they would be. This was the first time my wife and I had been here. We were given a great table in a library setting big enough for my wife and I and our daughter and son-in-law and three kids. Our waiter was Captain Jack sparrow. This was probably the most entertaining gentleman I've met in many years. The food was great... A little pricey but still good. The staff was really good. Love this restaurant. Was my first time there and I went with a friend and her two daughters. It was her youngest daughter's birthday and we wanted to celebrate with her. The wait was about an hour but we went upstairs to see what games we could play. It was a Saturday night so I don't understand why their bartender wasn't working up there and the whole bar area was closed down. It wasn't a big deal, but it would've lightened the mood a little for me and my friend had it been open. Aside from that, some of the games were also down and out of service - so that didn't fare too well with the girls. But it was nice to go upstairs and get away from the crowd, waiting around the front door downstairs. Once we got seated and into our booth, it was my friend who pointed out that we were in a non-themed booth. The place was well decorated with most tables and booths decorated to a movie/movie character theme. Definitely plenty to look at. our waitress was very entertaining and the food was delicious.
