Though I could have handled a bit more heat my friends would not find the spice to off-putting I had the peanut slaw offering and it was delicious. Ended up getting popcorn chicken with ranch for the kids and a quarter soy chicken meal for myself. I LOVED every bit of it. Normally popcorn chicken with ranch is a nightmare for me-not here. The chicken was juicy and crispy and the homemade ranch was fabulous. Yeah, I was sneaking some of that. My chicken meal was a thing of beauty. I got the breast which was very generous. The garlic noodles were so flavorful, pickled vegetables had an incredible variety. They were all mildly pickled and complemented the chicken meal perfectly. I was expecting the garlic sauce to be like Mediterranean garlic sauce, this wasn't, so I was a smidge disappointed, but it was still decent and I ate it all. Had spicy peanut slaw that I loved. I called once to check in and was told drivers was on the way and 15 minutes later I call back (total of 70 minutes post order is made) I'm told the driver is picking order up. I literally live only a couple blocks away so I knew my food was coming in hot...hopefully considering my food was waiting for the driver for at least 20 minutes. Don't let the store front fool you, this is a five-star to go eatery. We had the fried chicken with Thai coleslaw... Exceptionally good. We enjoyed the food from this place and decided to use them to cater our son's birthday party last year. Half the food we picked up was not edible. We had specifically also asked them not to use too much breading on the chicken bites. It's like they took our instruction and did the exact opposite. The nuggets were so hard they could not be eaten. In fact, we had two full tubs left after the party - that's how bad they were. People would not eat them. I emailed the owners the day after to complain about the food provided. They never returned my email or even apologized for giving us terrible food that we in turn gave to our friends and family, thinking they would do right by us. Please do yourself a favor a drive by this place if you see it. PS - This is a classic refusal to take responsibility for food that was poorly done. People make mistakes. I drove from downtown Los Angeles to Long Beach in search of a new place to grub, This is by far one of the best places I have eaten in a very long time. Well worth the commute. When you first walk in the place is really nice and "homey". A lot of the decor is made by one of the chefs. Latryce the cashier greeted us very warmly and was quick to answer all our questions and talk to us about the restaurant a little bit. Now let's get to the food.! It was seriously amazing. We had the half order of poutine and the soy lacquered chicken with the works. The portions are HUGE we were warned and they did not disappoint. And the price is incredible for this much fresh food. Not only are you served this beautiful platter of food but are greeted by one of the chefs to tell you a little bit about the dish. So I'll start with I totally understand that people have bad days. I understand people make mistakes or that restaurants may be understaffed. I understand having trouble since covid. What I witnessed tonight was hands down the worst service and business model I've ever witnessed. My girlfriend and I had heard of this place as a nice comfort food restaurant to try since we just moved to long Beach. We've had good experience in and around the city trying new places so this just seemed like another new venture. I tried surprising her by attempting to order food before she got off work. I called once and it went to voicemail so I thought "hmm maybe they never reopened" I checked the website and it said it was open and had covid rules so I tried again. Diana answered and said they were really busy and asked if she could put me on hold so I said it was fine. After 20 minutes I decided to drive there and on the off chance that I was taken off hold I cod save some time and still order over the phone. I literally got to the register waited till I got someone's attention in the back so I could order and noticed I hadn't hung up or taken it off speaker meaning that I was still on hold at 37 minutes and 21 seconds. I hung up right as I walked away from paying. The time on my receipt and the screenshot shows the times correctly. Not only was she rude and took my order with a raised voice but she was arguing with a man named Scott who was cooking in the back. I was told it would take 15 minutes from Diana to make my food. Scott corrected her that it would take 30 minutes. I should have walked out. But by this time my gf was already almost home and i didnt wanna show up empty handed on our anniversary. I waited 40 minutes before I asked if my food was ready. In those 40 minutes I witnessed Diana and Scott arguing and cursing at each other. Diana yelling at Scott to stop talking to her and to leave her alone. I could hear someone coughing and I was praying it wasn't the Cook (I mean were only in the middle of a pandemic right?). I watched Diana stop her feet and throw a tantrum because the two were just arguing back and forth and then some random guy walked in and walked to the back and started talking to them while they were supposed to be making orders for customers. I watched two customers walk in hear and see the confrontation between the cook and the owner and straight up walk out. Finally I was approached at almost an hour from Diana telling me there was a miscommunication and that there was only 1 order of chicken made. Mind you I was there to hear the miscommunication of her and Scott yelling back and forth about orders, no wonder mine got screwed up. She asked me what I wanted to do and if I wanted a refund so I said just give me what you got ill take the tenders and the chicken. She proceeded to yell at me and say she was just trying to make me happy which I accidentally replied im way past happy. I asked her if there was a manager I could talk to and she smugly replied that she was the owner. I finally got my food around 9 o clock and she threw it on the table by the register. I was so shocked that I looked at the other guests in line waiting for their own food orders and wished them good luck. I was in disbelief at how rude, unprofessional and clueless the owner the owner and the cook were. When I got home the chicken and gravy wasn't bad but the poutine was cold and now didn't taste very good being that cold. I'm sure it would have been yummy if it was at least warm. I was charged $57.29 for friend chicken and fancy French fries that took from 7:30 to 9:00 to recieve. Like I stated I can understand a bad night, difficult guests, busy rush hours, being understaffed or just plain bad luck. What I cannot fathom is the level of disrespect and indecency that was shown tonight. She not only disrespected me and ruined what was supposed to be a good night surprise but she also disrespected the other customers that had to witness the horrors on display bit also she disrespected her own restaurant. It was first and last time at Lacquered. Apparently I'm not the only one who has suffered at the hands of this bad business. I do hope things get better and that maybe they have better days. Wanted to try Lacquered based on the hype; just newly moved to LB. Tried to call to place an order before I drove to pick up the food. A woman put me on hold for 37 minutes! I drove down to the restaurant, while still on hold, and was greeted by an empty restaurant with no one at the cash register. Walked up to the counter and tried to call someone from the back to get their attention & asked the woman at the counter if there was something wrong with their phone. She replied there wasn't and I told her I was still on hold with her. When I placed my order after informing them of the phone fiasco, the woman informed me that the food would take 30 minutes. 30 minutes pass and I go to the front register to inquire about an update on my food, when I walk into the woman at the register and the cook arguing very unprofessionally. Apparently there was a miscommunication about my order; I ordered 2 half chickens and 2 poutines and the cook only made 1 half chicken. The woman began yelling profanities at me and asked if I just wanted a refund or an order of chicken tenders to replace the missing order of half chicken. When I let them know I would take whatever I had since it has now been 45 minutes since I ordered. When she finally comes with my ordern well after an hour after I ordered, she drops my order on the table in front of me. When I look inside and notice an order of chicken is still missing, I inform her and she goes back to the kitchen to get the box of missing chicken and throws it at me! So unprofessional. I get people have bad days but this was ridiculous! First and last time I'll eat here. read more

I've been anxious to try this place because not only am I Vietnamese but I'm a big bbq lover. Yesterday, I finally got a chance to go here and I was extra excited because my husband and friend were coming with me. Good food is better when you're with people you love. Anyway, we ordered our food which was the Asian bbq ribs combo and the bbq chicken combo with coleslaw, grilled vegetables, their famous garlic noodles and their bread. To our surprise, everything tasted as if it was soaked in salt, especially the garlic noodles. We all couldn't believe they would send out garlic noodles like that. Completely inedible. I couldn't believe that because this place has 4.5 stars! The bbq chicken was overwhelmingly sweet. The Vietnamese ribs were pungent smelling and I'm Vietnamese and love Vietnamese bbq. Let me say this though... I've never had Vietnamese bbq like this. We took a few bites and decided we couldn't force ourselves to waste any further calories. I was deceived by the excellent reviews. From the French fries (my FAV in all of LB -- trust me, they're good) to the fried chicken and soups or handmade sauces, chef Diana and her husband (sorry, don't know have a name!) have yet to disappoint. We stopped in expecting a nice easy lunch but we were not expecting such an amazing blast of flavors! I got the BBQ pork sandwich with pepper vinaigrette salad and my boyfriend got the spicy chicken sandwich with fries. Everything was AMAZING! The fries, first of all, are served with ketchup and mayo which is my FAVORITE and they are the perfect thick-cut, crispy but soft inside with sea salt... so delicious! The perfect French fry! My salad was so fresh and the pepper vinaigrette was so flavorful! Our sandwiches were obviously crafted with lots of thoughtful care. The flavors all went so well, the buns were toasted perfectly, the cole slaw was delicious, pickles on point, meat was perfect. Each bite was awesome! We couldn't get over it. We were so full but because everything was so delicious, we couldn't help but indulging in the banana bread dessert and SO GLAD we did! It's one of the best desserts I can ever remember having! It came with two scoops of home made vanilla ice cream, warm banana bread, caramelized bananas, salty caramel sauce and fresh whipped cream. Absolutely to die for. Second visit here and I am HOOKED. A "mom and pop" type eatery putting out amazingly nuanced and complex food. I had the soy lacquered chicken breast, sides of garlic noodles and spicy peanut cole slaw. The chicken is exquisitely cooked, whatever they use for the braising liquid is something that I could probably drink by the gallon. It's a Peking duck-type profile, soy, hints of herbs, maybe a hit of clove, it's just perfect and completely addicting. Garlic noodles were served warm, a mild roasty garlic flavor, served with a cream sauce of some sort on the side that, when adding a dollop to the noodles, gives them a real heartiness. The peanut cole slaw perfectly contrasted the other items, the cool, crunchy slaw lightly dressed in this creamy peanuty savory dressing with a little bright citrusy note and just the right amount of heat. All together it is an explosion of flavors, textures, and temperatures that is a real treat for the senses. Worth patronizing! read more

We ordered some food tonight and very excited to eat because of the good reviews. When we got the food it was cold. The vegetables were so burnt that they were inedible. The sauce on the vegan fries tasted rancid and the fries were so oily that it oozed out when you bit into them. The lentil sauce had no flavor and the chicken was dry and smelled like gasoline.. But the worst part was when we called to complain about the burnt food and the owner was extremely rude. She told us she was busy and didn't have time for us and hung up the phone. I have to say that this is a hidden gem in the rough. Chef Díana is amazing at what she does. Best friggin garlic noodles that you can customize by adding other mouth watering proteins or veggie stuff. Her chicken tenders are ridiculously huge, tender, and crunchy.
