Very casual Mexican place. Their carne asada was really good! Highly recommend getting their carne asada tacos.

Friendly staff with a smile and your norm of King Taco goodness - appreciate the kindness from the team there for a big order Parking is super easy!

    Chicken Tamale soo good.

They have on site parking. Located on a busy street on a block that has seen better days but what they lack in beauty they make up with some of the best staff and food that makes you come back again and again. You enter a clean restaurant well staffed and see a menu filled with old school deliciousness and a variety of new school street food that you will love. They have the best Mexican food in my opinion from tacos burritos tamales grilled chicken and more way better than El Pollo Loco. Friday and Saturday They roast chicken and sell it by half or whole order. Today's order consists of a trio of tacos Tinga de pollo suadero & carne asada easy onions and cilantro and salsas they are soo delicious. Chicken burrito I wanted a normal grilled chicken burrito but the waitress said they only make a new burrito called tinga chicken. A burrito with a small amount shredded tangy chicken jack cheese beans and rice with green & red salsa -this burrito was ok it had way too much beans and rice and needed more cheese. I'm not sure I would order this again I prefer an original chicken burrito. 7/10 Chicken Tamale Tender masa shredded chicken I add green salsa on top making it spicy and soo good. 8/10 I most often order extra tamales chicken pork or cheese they freeze well and reheat perfectly in the microwave. Pina with light ice. Very refreshing a bit sweet but soo good. 8/10 I recommend you try this restaurant for you'll thank me. Until next time, Just me Shawn.

King taco is my go to for street tacos. My usual order is cabeza, lengua, buche, suadero, and carnitas tacos. Their red salsa is spicy and green salsa is flavorful, inwould end up putting both on my tacos. Once you place your order, they will call you to a window to prepare your food. Where you can customize the order even more. The operation is pretty efficient as they build your meal.

    King Taco receipt- no tacos.

It's been an overall bad day for me. Doctor appointment went horribly wrong. And then king Taco screwed me too. They completely left out the two tacos I ordered. Everything else is okay, but they just decided to not include two tacos. Thanks! I paid for them, but I didn't get them. And I didn't realize until I got home because I trusted they fulfilled orders correctly. Thanks!

Carne asado taco as authentic as they come.

5 stars to their Al Pastor which is an absolute flavor bomb. Insane flavor in every bite, love the bit of pineapple sweetness coming through. Do not count calories or better yet, be sure to be on cheat day mode if you plan to come here. But after a few Al pastor tacos in your belly, you'll be all set. Honestly can't say enough about them. As for the place, it's well maintained and clean thanks to the staff. It gets a bit stuffy so the ventilation could be a bit better. But for a no frills no nonsense place for honest Mexican food, it's likely one of the best in SoCA.

Weekend Rotisserie! A different option! Combo with sides and green salsa.... Chips for dipping or nachos too!

Ask the Community - King Taco

Does this location have a drive-thru?

Nope....I never seen any king taco that has drive thru

What meat do your toddlers eat here? My 3 year old will sometimes eat shrimp, fish, or chicken burrito at other places but there's no shrimp or fish and she says their chicken burrito is a little spicy! We love king taco, would love your suggestion.

Can I order online for pick up?

Not sure, but I suggest you order in person. They always want to double check your order before they work on it. So just go there in person.

    Do they have curbside pickup?

    No.

Can you call in an order?

    no you cannot.

    Do they deliver?

    No unfortunately they don't

I stopped by on a Friday afternoon and waited about 20 minutes for a table. The wait was well worth it because each dish offered an explosion of flavors. My favorite dish was the birria, with the salmon ceviche as a close second. The mole was great too, but I'd say the other two dishes were more memorable and something I'd return for. I can't recommend the birria enough, as the flavors were reminiscent of what I've had in Mexico, very authentic. The space is small and can feel a bit tight, but sometimes the best food comes from these types of "hole in the wall" places. Ultimately, I'd say give Lola's a try! You can't go wrong with Mexican food!

Not impressed by anything we ordered, given the competition locally…read more I will drive to Acton, CA (124 miles round trip) for their chicken tortilla soup ... bringing back 3 quarts of it after our meal is done. The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

In addition to all those basic menu items they have some stellar creations. I opted for the carne asada plate - simple and not spicy. Hubby ordered the Carne en su Jugo- very spicy with tomatillo broth and serranos, cilantro, bacon and onions. Both of our entrees came with bean soup and tortillas. The chips/ salsa starter was addictive. Huge basket of fresh warm chips, and a salsa like no other! Chunks of veggies and just the right spice. It was hard to get those chunks on the chips but it was delicious. My carne asada was tasty, a large portion with grilled scallion and rice. I wish some of the "bean soup" had been pureed to be a bit thicker but the broth was good, with a variety of beans. Hubby's dish had an interesting flavor, very spicy. He wished the broth had some rice, though, to accompany it. We could come back weekly to try many more entrees. Their salads sound tasty, too. Service was great.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.
