Before anyone gets mad I loved the food but not a fan of their burritos but only because of the tortillas they use! So I had three tacos: carne asada, carnitas and al pastor. Loved both the carne asada and carnitas but very disappointed with the al pastor... lacked favor... there I said it! Now the burrito was huge and I couldn't wait to bite into except on the first bite it completely fell apart... bad flour tortilla. What can I say, I like what I like and this place so far has the best Al Pastor tacos. I tried other places and taco trucks but none have the flavor like king taco. Also the hot sauce just makes everything better compared to other places that just use the bottled hot sauce. I always get the Al Pastor tacos and nachos with Al Pastor and all the toppings. One of the better deals for nachos compared to other place that charge like $15 for while this place is under $9 with meat. Only wish they had more locations on the west side of the city. As a child, I remember eating carne asada tacos from the Los Angeles King Taco locations. I would load them up with citrusy cilantro and onions and their green salsa. When I eat one of these carne asada tacos, the familiarity is comforting to me. The meats have a marinated flavor that I enjoy. This is my baseline of what a carne asada taco is and I come here only for this. (I do not prefer the other meats from here). The other item I'd order is a carne asada "all meat" burrito with a side of onions/cilantro and salsas. It's an all-meat burrito and it's wonderous. The cost has gone up to $2.50 for a small taco, which is regrettable because I can eat 6 of these. If you want better tacos, then look for any place that has meat perfumed by the flavor of charcoal. (Sonoratown and Angel's Tijuana Tacos can be found less than a few miles away). The thing is this: their tacos have been feeding Angelenos for fifty years and the taste of citrusy cilantro and onion over seasoned meat, tomatillo salsa and a basic, flour, mini tortilla is nostalgic. read more

Friday and Saturday They roast chicken and sell it by half or whole order. Today's order consists of a trio of tacos Tinga de pollo suadero & carne asada easy onions and cilantro and salsas they are soo delicious. Chicken burrito I wanted a normal grilled chicken burrito but the waitress said they only make a new burrito called tinga chicken. A burrito with a small amount shredded tangy chicken jack cheese beans and rice with green & red salsa -this burrito was ok it had way too much beans and rice and needed more cheese. I'm not sure I would order this again I prefer an original chicken burrito. 7/10 Chicken Tamale Tender masa shredded chicken I add green salsa on top making it spicy and soo good. 8/10 I most often order extra tamales chicken pork or cheese they freeze well and reheat perfectly in the microwave. Their red salsa is spicy and green salsa is flavorful, inwould end up putting both on my tacos. Once you place your order, they will call you to a window to prepare your food. In my honest opinion, King Taco locations in Los Angeles are better than this Long Beach location. I was really disappointed because the last two visits didn't meet my expectations. I didn't want to write a somewhat negative review, but this location burned me twice. I had a rather large order, so I understand if they forget an item or two. No big deal. Then again, isn't it their job to make sure the order is accurate? I only really wanted their carne asada sope and of course, they completely forgot to give us both of the sopes I ordered. I don't live in the area, so I wasn't going to drive all the way back for $10 sopes. It was more principle than anything else. Plus, they were stingy on sauce. I asked for six red sauce and six green sauce and the lady tried to negotiate with me. She said, "What about four red sauce and six green sauce?" I was taken aback. I wasn't trying to hoard the sauce or anything. Legit, my group loves to eat their tacos/sopes with a good amount of sauce. Who wouldn't want to eat it that way? 5 stars to their Al Pastor which is an absolute flavor bomb. Insane flavor in every bite, love the bit of pineapple sweetness coming through. Do not count calories or better yet, be sure to be on cheat day mode if you plan to come here. But after a few Al pastor tacos in your belly, you'll be all set. Honestly can't say enough about them. As for the place, it's well maintained and clean thanks to the staff. It gets a bit stuffy so the ventilation could be a bit better. I've been going to king taco for over 20yrs and the service is, well, iykyk. But there's a new shift manager at this location that works evenings during the week that has this place operating on all cylinders!!! I had to tell her I have seen an undeniable change since she started working there. I didn't catch her name though but I almost want to have her come work for my company. I'm a CFO for private equity that holds a ton of LA real estate and she could definitely transfer her skills to clean up our ops. I'm not even exaggerating! It's like night and day at this place! Her impact is so glaring. This is my favorite location to visit by far! On top of all that, the food quality is even better than most locations! Thought I update my review. Came in Sunday night for a burrito and nachos. Amazing. Not only was the customer service good but the operations seemed to be ironed out. You pay, then they call your number at one of the prep stations then they make the order fresh right there. Still takes a minute to call your number but I did not wait more then 10 min. This place has really good food and salsa. Hand made tortillas. Its worth the time to come here. read more

We stopped by King Taco after a comedy show and had been wanting to check this spot out for a while. A couple friends of ours from the LA area mentioned this is one of the go-to taco spots, so we were excited to finally try it. I ordered the chicharrón burrito with beans, cilantro, and onions -- no rice. Being from San Diego, I'm used to burritos that don't typically include beans and rice by default, so that was a little different for me. What also surprised me was that they don't include guacamole in their burritos or tacos, which is pretty standard where I'm from. We had to order it in the side which is an extra $2.55. The flavor was good and the chicharrón itself was tasty, but I did feel like the burrito had more beans than actual chicharrón. It still hit the spot after a night out, though. They're also open super late on weekends -- I believe around 2 or 3 a.m. -- which makes it a convenient option after shows or late nights. That said, we're used to taco spots in San Diego where the meat is cooked right in front of you, like at Tacos El Gordo or TJ Tacos. You usually get that amazing, enticing smell as soon as you walk in -- carne asada grilling in front of you -- and it really makes you feel like you're in a classic taco shop. Here, it was different. The restaurant didn't really smell like food at all, which was surprising. Maybe they just have really good ventilation, but it definitely felt different from what we're used to. We also arrived a little after midnight, and the area felt a bit sketch at that hour. It may just be the late-night timing, but it's something to be aware of if you're visiting late. I never thought this place was good. Everyone in high school would come here because this was the "spot" to be on the weekends or summer evenings for food. Even then, this place didn't hit. I came back to give it one last shot. There are better hole in the wall taco spots way better than here, even Tacos El Gavilan is better, in Santa Ana. At least Tacos El Gavilan has Lemon Wedges. This place doesn't have limes or lemon. Really disappointed. I don't know a taco place that doesn't have limes or lemon Wedges. So today I ordered 3 tacos de Asada and 4 chicken, their chicken is Tínga style, if you don't know what that is, it's just shredded chicken in chile chipotle. Can be spicy to some. But not for me. I don't think I'll come back. Food was a salty. No lime, salsas were okay. I didn't get a drink. There are better taco spots than this. Perfect for a late night quick bite, or if you're just passing by and have a hankering for something cheap and hearty, King Taco is the spot. We were nearby after a family outing recently and wanted to pick up a couple of tacos to enjoy for the drive back home. Hubby picked up 8 Al Pastor and 8 Asada tacos for over $2 per taco (not as cheap as it used to be). They were very stingy about the salsa and only limit a certain amount per order. Hubby tried to ask for a few extra, but they still wouldn't budge much. Our order took about 15 minutes to be prepared. There was a bit of a line, but it's expected. Our tacos came out hot and fresh. Upon opening the box in our car, the invigorating smell of the tacos filled up our entire car. We loved it. We started with the Al Pastor. Hubby asked for lots of cilantro and onions to be put on our tacos and he drizzled as much red salsa as he could all over the tacos. Upon first bite, we were hit with so much flavor. The Al Pastor had a nice smoky flavor and the pork was very tender and juicy. We inhaled our tacos in minutes. As for the Asada, it didn't have as much color as the Al Pastor. There was no char on it! We decided to take it home and pan fry it to give it some more color. That did the trick because we were able to fry the tortillas and give them a nice crunch with the pan fried Asada. It was definitely a nice hack for us to refry the Asada tacos! Overall really good tacos. We really love the Al Pastor from here and will pick up some more again if we're ever in the area! They have their own parking lot. I've always loved this place, although it gets average ratings and it's surrounded by tons of competition. The asada is flavored just right although the tortilla could have been cooked a little longer, was still a tasty taco! The burritos are just as good. The cilantro, onions and salsa are simple yet a perfect blend with the meat for a street taco. Nothing fancy about it but great times and tasty tacos. One thing I like is that they have nacho cheese. Very Tex-mex but there is something so amazing about nachos with melted queso. Most traditional places shy away from it so I'm glad they keep it as an option. Nothing wrong on a late night when craving some nacho smothered in delicious melted queso with all the goodies on it and shared among your friends. The place has parking luckily since LB, well, IYKYK, And it's spacious inside. There are restrooms that were surprisingly clean. Not sure why I was surprised but impressed I suppose.
