I used to love this place. But now the quality has gone down. On top of giving me spoiled radishes. Even my husband said the Tamarindo tasted old. I'm just very disappointed. It's not hitting like it use to. & giving rotten food, is a no. How do you not notice your food going bad? It's a no for me. read more

My cousins and I were craving tripas tacos and decided to pick up some here, since one of my cousins like it here. We ordered eight tripas tacos (and asked for extra crispy, how we like it), a quesadilla, and the Nachos Chapala with tripas. The tripas tacos are pretty pricey at $3.99 each. We were so excited, and when we got home, we found out they did not give us tacos with tripas, they were with shredded chicken. We were very disappointed. The chicken was so dry; I struggled to finish one taco. I did not enjoy it. We were all hungry, but no one ate more than one taco. Now we are going to get tripas tacos somewhere else tomorrow to satisfy our cravings. read more

I came here because I've been craving tacos. This restaurant is very small. There's like 6 tables so it's not meant to come here with many people. Parking is also very limited! I had to park on a side street which I wasn't too happy about. The menu selections are a basic menu with a few items. Specialty here I believe are the tacos. They were delicious and portions were big. Prices here though are a bit high for Mexican food. Especially a place that can't accommodate too many people. I will come back though and try something else. For now I say it's 3 stars because I believe we must try a restaurant more than once for a final say. read more

My bf and I have been coming here for a few years now, and this place is honestly so underrated. We've come for lunch and dinner, ate in and have grabbed it to go and It's always been fast, friendly, and ALWAYS good. From the outside and the small parking situation it may look whatever, especially being next another great business, but it's definitely a 'hole in the wall' kind of place that will surprise you . We come here for their burritos , tacos , and nachos; and bc their pastor here is good ! As well as their sauces , but our favorite is their Red salsa ( Great flavor and spice) . Long Beach has many great places for Mexican Food. Tacos Chapala has been a favorite of mine for a very long time. They have been so consistent over the years. Their salsas are without question some of the most delicious in town. Fight me. I literally wake up thinking about their red salsa regularly. Their wet burrito is insane. An absolute must try. I'm not a huge meat eater, so I get their vegetarian wet burrito, but I do enjoy their chicken tacos. Staff is very friendly, fast, and eager to cook for you. Very small dining room. I always do take out but have dined in a few times, which is the only thing I don't like about Tacos Chapala. Their dishwasher pit is connected to the dining area and sometimes smells of bleach (which is fine just not appetizing) Highly highly recommend this long Beach GEM! read more

Chapala is your typical hole in the wall mexican joint. It has good meat and good salsa. The problem I have with this place is the language barrier. If you say 5 they will put 2 if you say 6 they will put 3. If you don't want beans, it's having beans. They don't read the tickets and look at details on the orders. The restaurant is loud and have fans blowing around and it's really hot in there. No matter how clear and loud I speak my order is not right. I do feel it is a English thing. On a Tuesday I ordered 8 tacos and got 3 and the price was 10$ for 3 tacos. The prices are outrageous here. As inflation increases the quality needs to increase with it. Another thing I want to add is there 50 cent card fee on top of that, they want you to sign on their tablet screen. The most disgusting screen ever. This thing has crap all over the screen. I used to patronize Tacos Chapala about once a month, but over the past year or so their prices kept creeping up. Okay I get it inflation and all that. Haven't been there for a couple months and ordered one of my favorites which is the nachos. I went to pick them up and the guy said $16.26 I go, what? I thought they made a mistake. This place is just your basic taco stand nothing special. Maybe I don't know what's going on but that seems ridiculously high for one plate of nachos and nothing else. Anyway I got home in 5 min. and they were cold. So not going back there again. read more

Review about the nachos and the nachos only, I googled best nachos in Long Beach and this was one of the first places to pop up, these nachos were off the chain, the carne asada was perfect, the beans were excellent, just the right amount of cheese, cilantro y cebolla, & the guacamole was simple. Not sure how I've lived in Long Beach for over 15 years & have never supported this spot. Worth the price. This portion could have fed 2 mouths. cinco de mayo 2020 falls on taco tuesday! we made last minute plans to get some mexican food. we tried to call ahead with no luck but pulled up to the spot + were relieved to find the restaurant open. there was a bit of a wait outside the door but it was about 3-4 people ahead of us - social distancing with masks - so it only appeared like it was a long wait. i got the 2 taco combo with carne asada and no rice. the hubs got the pastor burrito. i was thoroughly satisfied. we enjoy the fact that they offer limes and radishes with their take-out. i've been disappointed from other restaurants when i need a lime + it's not in the bag! the hubs enjoyed the burrito, but felt like he's had better. i thought my tacos, salsa, beans, lime were all great! read more

To be fair I Really have only ever come here on Tuesday for, yep, you guessed it; Taco's. But I think this this will be my last trip. All tacos used to be $1.25, which is a reasonable price for street tacos with some flavor. For some unknown reason, carne asada tacos are now $2, while chicken and pork tacos are $1.25. I ordered 5 tacos not knowing about the price change, and that was $10, when it used to be 1/3 of that price. Then a med size Horchata for $1.90. Voila $13. When the whole lunch should've been less than $10. On top of all this change, carne asada was dry and lacked the flavor it used to have. The flour tacos themselves were a bit hard, but the only saving Grace was the portions were a bit bigger, salsa is great and they come with sauteed onion's and Serrano peppers, upon request. However, great salsas and sauteed onion's and Serrano's aren't going to be enough to bring me back to Taco's Chapala. The tacos used to be amazing. Now there's no ama- or - zing. read more

Excellent execution, well portioned and seasoned. My crew and I flew in and discovered this shoppe (thanks Yelp) as being a local spot. I ordered three soft tacos - lengua, carnitas and pastor. The presentation is decidedly street tacos, with the emphasis on flavor of the protein. Simple but effective garnish of cilantro, onion, lime and the option for hot sauce. Bonus points for the dual tortillas used per taco to hold up against the meat. Everything was in harmony and perfectly balanced and if I were a betting man, I'd say the Horchata was homemade as well! read more

Was excited to try this place out. First and possibly last visit for me. Menu prices are not correct prices. Asked for half asada half lengua fries and was charged an additional $1 for each meat choice. My go-to taco place! They have an awesome Taco Tuesday deal ($1.25/taco for various meats) and I always gets carnitas. The meat is so tender and their tortillas have that really nice corny taste. There's usually a wait if you come around dinner time since the place gets packed. But it's not too bad considering how fast they actually prepare the food! My only "complaint" is the small parking lot since they share the space with other businesses but there's a couple of spots right on the street & I've usually timed it right to where someone else was leaving just as I was pulling in. I was actually craving some since it's been likely over a year since we last visited. The hubby had 2 tacos plates. The birria was very good, the asaea delicious but very rich. I've never been a fan of black beans but these were tasty. My Tlayuada hit the spot and chase it down with a Penelope. When we arrived we were the only ones there. The server was attentive and check on us throughout our visit. Engaging and friendly. The interiors are cost and warm with plants and green as the main color. Nice murals throughout.

Sunset here is incredible too. The pricing makes sense to me. I think the flavors are all there. Anyone complaining probably couldn't prepare the same dish half as good. Our service was good considering they were busier than expected. Have been here several times and will continue to come back when I visit again. Omg my friend's taco salad was an insane size hahaha. I got the enchiladas which were solid, nothing that really stood out. My friend got the mixed ceviche but they brought him only shrimp ceviche, when we pointed out the wrong order, they quickly took care of it. Then at the end we mentioned that it was both of our birthdays and they brought out 2 HUGE cupcakes!! I mean Ive never seen so much frosting in one place!
