First of all I am a huge french fry fanatic like I am a crazy potato person and the french fries are amazing! We had the nachos. They were good but our friends had a salad and their salad looked amazing. I just wish on the nachos they would have put a little more of that. Wonderful topping sauce. A great breakfast spot with the most amazing orange cardamom sticky bun! This is a gem in old downtown Tucson with an outdoor stage, a tattoo shop and local artist shop! We were visiting Tucson and decided to visit the Artisans market and have lunch in the courtyard. Such a cute spot. The process today was to find a table and seat yourself- then they brought us menus. Hubby ordered the veggie burger but they were all out, so he decided on Chile relleno instead. I opted for the taco salad with Barbacoa how however they brought me taco salad with chicken. No problem, it was very good and between my husband and I we ate every bite of both meals. My husband and I met friends for lunch on Saturday and had a wonderful time. When we arrived there was a 30 minute wait however it went quickly because we had drinks at Tallboys and before we knew it our table was ready. Another option while waiting would be to shop in Old Town Artisans. We loved sitting outside in the beautiful courtyard and enjoyed the live music. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and thoroughly explained the many menu options. Our friends ordered the vegan scramble and the veggie burger. We had the tall boy tots and the pork street tacos. Everything was delicious! My pork tacos were tender and flavorful. We also shared the guacamole, salsa and chips. LaCo is a nice casual restaurant serving some excellent Mexican and fusion food. Within restaurant is Tall Boys, a funky hang-out while you wait for your table at LaCo. Tall Boys serves no draft beer - only tallboys and bottles, which is unusual. LaCo does have beer on tap. So this review covers both experiences. Tall Boys would warrant a 3.5 stars as it lacks ambiance, but LaCo would be a solid 4.5 stars. The food was delicious and the live music was a bonus. Interestingly, there is another Mexican restaurant just a couple of doors down with a big crowd of tourists waiting to be seated. Such a lovely experience! The hostess was sweet and efficient, the waitress we had (Sevi) just had the sweetest spirit and was great at her job. The live music was exceptional and I am pretty sure they should win award for best ambiance in Tucson. This place is an absolute gem. The pork tacos were delicious, the burger was divine and the potatoes bravos were yummy as well. This will definitely be a new must for us when visiting the area. Searched Yelp for a fun and gluten free option restsurant. We went on a Sunday and parked on the side of the street. There's not a time limit on Sundays for street parking. We did have to wait until our entire party showed up before we could be seated. We waited in the inside bar area for about 5-10 minutes. They seated us outside and the weather was really nice. They did have an interesting musician playing. It was the perfect genre for outdoor dining. They did give us a little qrc code to scan for the menu but none of us could get it to work. They did hand us a paper menu when asked. I ordered the gluten free taco salad. It was a little bland and really nothing special. We walked the little shops that surrounded the outside area. Came here on a Saturday afternoon around 4pm. No reservation and was seated right away. I love that most of the seating is outside. I could see how this could be a popular choice for an evening out on the atmosphere alone. However, if I were choosing based on the food, I would skip. It was just ok, nothing that stood out as impressive. The salsa is on the sweeter side which is just not my preference. I was also disappointed with my margarita, it tasted like the mix you buy at the store with a splash of tequila. For the price, give us more tequila. We also had to ask for a lot of things like silverware, straws, small plates for the chips and salsa. The normal necessities. With so many options for good Mexican food in Tucson, I would probably pass on this one. read more

LaCo has it going. Good food, great environment, good service, good music. Free parking on the street in the area. It took awhile for us to meander the distance from the East side to downtown, but we will likely do it again. And again. Our quinoa salad was different and good. The smoked meatloaf was a special take n an old fave. We topped things off with a cherry empanada with ice cream. Well served by our server Emily. She's fantastic. Great spot for outdoor brunch and live music near downtown! The food is tasty, the outdoor seating is lovely, and you can browse the surrounding shops in Old Town Artisans right after eating. If you're in the mood for a mojito, definitely recommend getting one - so light and refreshing on a warm Tucson day! As for the food, we shared the green chile quesadilla and the Tallboy tots. We added chicken to the quesadilla - it was a pretty standard quesadilla but still satisfying. We added pulled pork to the Tallboy tots - the dish overall was really good, and I would definitely get them again. I spotted this restaurant while visiting Ceres across the street and loved the vibe of this outdoor restaurant! I love that they have live music, although the band hardly played while I was there. Waited about 5 minutes to be sat when there was no one in front of us. Which was fine but it seemed very dead but once we got sat we noticed a huge party had walked up/ Did not get to try the food because the waitress never came to our table. Instead she went straight to a party that walked in and sat down about 10 minutes after us. So once we realized the party of about 15 people was going to get better service and me and my friend were basically going to be brushed off we just walked out. Never got waters. Never got greeted. This was our second choice for the evening. We're really glad our first choice was unavailable. Once we found the wait stand, we were seated promptly on the patio. This place was very cool and had a great outdoor restaurant vibe. We got there later at night and was pretty packed, so had to wait in the bar area for about 20 minutes. It flew by as the bartenders were fun to watch. Once we sat down, we looked through a very large menu and both decided on the chimichanga since that is what Tucson is known for. The chimis were amazing, however I've never had pickles in the bottom before. Threw me off a little bit and would probably order them without that piece next time. I was able to eat around them, but I can be picky with food so most probably like it. We took and Uber, so couldn't tell what the parking situation was like here. LaCo has such a cool atmosphere and the building has a rich history. The patio is covered with lights, shades, and fun colors - they have a stage for live music - and the restaurant portion is surrounded by quirky shops. I haven't eaten there in years, but was excited to take a couple of friends who were visiting from out of town - unfortunately our service was horrible. The food was fine. But our server was completely MIA. A hostess brought us water, the server came and took our food/drink order at the same time, another server brought our drinks, an expo brought our food - and then we didn't see another soul for our entire meal. We finished our meal and drinks and sat there for an extra 15 minutes with all the dirty tableware in front of us without any refills when our server finally came and brought us the wrong bill. We asked her to correct it and split it (they can only split up to 3 ways and we had 4 groups in our party of 6, which created an inconvenience for us) - and then when we reviewed the corrected bill, a 20% gratuity had been added. I'm assuming this was due to our party size, but given the experience we had, it was certainly frustrating. I hope this was an isolated event, because LaCo is an important part of downtown, but I won't be back for a long time. read more

The menu appears to be a bit smaller than I recalled, but the food quality is still good. La Co has a great bar, good food, and cool vibe. If you have a large group I'd recommend making several reservations for smaller amount of people per table otherwise you will be seated in a different area where you can't see the band. Service was non existent only came around to take our order and deliver food which the appetizer took an hour to get after ordering. Was told no tofu for one dish ordered; then suddenly tofu was found 45 mins later in the back?!?!? One person in our group ordered a vegan meal that was sent with cheese. Sadly because our server never returned that person ate lettuce for dinner. Asked someone for refills on drinks and never got any refills and food was mediocre!
