I had a meetup group of 9 meet here for brunch this past Saturday and though it passed the vibe check, our experience unfortunately did not. Our server had some highs and lows for us. She was courteous and even took initiative in resolving an issue with the bacon, however she also seemed to have a clear visible reaction when asked for straws, which I thought was strange. It happened on two separate occasions to two of us. When it comes to the restaurant, it gives the appearance of this cool eclectic spot..and it is, but I felt it had some holes. The courtyard is beautiful...it has greenery all about and tarps that provide shade, as well as a setup for live music. I read about there being jazz music in the past but this day it was more folk-like. My group found that though there were tarps hung for shading, they are hung sporadically and did not actually do a great job at blocking out the Sun. We started the brunch with some of us roasting on one side of the table and ended with the other side of the table roasting. More coverage would be a great addition for the restaurant. I initially was really excited for the menu but was a bit disappointed in the delivery. For one, the classic breakfast charges $4 to add meat. But when it came, it was 2 small and limp pieces of bacon. Not a great value at all. The sticky buns I was really excited for. However the whipped cream cheese was still pretty thick and the overall dish was not as sweet as I would have liked. Though others at the table loved that about them. The potatoes that come on the side were drowning in salt, it was actually a little humorous.. but also not because we were paying for them lol. I ordered the chef's choice wings which had good flavor and great presentation. I didn't taste the fish sauce nor Korean spiced flavoring but they were good. Lastly, the restaurant does not split checks past 3 cards which I thought was strange as well. I have not encountered that in Tucson and don't really understand why they choose not to accommodate guests, especially when not busy. I can understand if it's a place where it's difficult to separate checks but everyone got one thing really, some had 2 at most. It just seems like an unnecessary rule so that they can give less effort. I may return here to experience it in the evening, but I don't think the daytime is the best time to visit this restaurant. read more

I love this place. Their margaritas are the absolute best in town, and I LOVE the brussel sprouts. I appreciate the simplicity of ordering food and drinks at the bar. Came in from out of town and friend said we should try this place based off the pictures for the atmosphere. Come to find out we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was amazing and then being connected to the art stores gave such a cool chill vibe. Granted we came during the tacos and nachos only menu hours but they did not disappoint at all. We went back for more. Not to mention the staff was outstanding from attending everyone to making you feel as if they were part of the group. The drinks tasted amazing. Came in the Friday after Christmas and we loved it! Staff is genuinely nice and the owners so hospitable. I had a ranch water and added passion fruit, my mom loved her Bloody Mary and we had some tamarind cocktails. Came in for lunch on a hot Friday afternoon. I'd normally be weary of open seating and no A/C but found it to be surprisingly cool and comfortable, with lots of shaded tables. The staff were also quick to locate us and take our orders. I was really happy to see multiple vegan options and opted for the Mushroom Tacos and Cauliflower Wings with Buffalo Sauce and Garlic Aioli. Both were really good and more food than one person should be eating. I'm excited to come back for brunch and happy to have another restaurant in Tucson where I can enjoy meals with non-vegan friends and family. read more

This place used to be called something different and the menu has changed, but overall still enjoyed our time here. We came on a night where there was live music, which was excellent. Great outdoor seating options for a couple to a larger group. We started with sharing a small order of nachos with meat/birria. There was a nice mix of pico de gallo, jalapeños, picked red onions, meat & spicy queso. Unfortunately they were out of most draft beers that night, so we opted for margaritas. They were delicious and strong! It's possible to order a small nachos plate or larger one as your main meal. My fiance got a burger, which he enjoyed; fries cost extra so he was OK with just the burger. I opted for the carnitas tacos, which were also good. The cutest date spot or friend hang out. They have a cool Arizona themed gift shop and art store. The food changes so it's interesting when I went the sausage skewers were amazing. Google & Yelp names aren't the same. LaCo vs jojos restaurant. We came for drinks before dinner and offered the Birria Dip - the consome* was VERY salty, too salty! We thought *Birria dip was actual dip , not like a French dip and that WASNT explained by our server when we mentioned to her we were going to split it as an appetizer.... The music was good , it's a cute outdoor spot but the service by Sevi was VERY basic especially because we didn't order a lot of food and only got one round of drinks. read more

I hadn't been to this location since it changed names a while back, so I was long overdue for a visit! I was so glad to see that what *hadn't* changed was the beautiful setting. I've always loved the trees and shade that allow me to dine in comfort even when the temperature goes up. I will pick a seat next to the water every time, because turtles are my favorite. I also appreciate the music stage. This time around I was here for a brunch (I've visited in the past for both a happy hour type of get-together with a large group as well as an intimate dinner for two in the later evening) on Sunday which was a new experience as well. I got there right when they opened to grab a table for my friend and me since I figured they would get really crowded. I was right! It's a popular spot so I suggest leaving plenty of time for your visit so you don't feel anxious about the crowd and trying to get in and out. Isn't that what life is all about though -- sitting and relaxing while you enjoy delicious food with good company? And speaking of the food, I ordered the corn cakes with a side of bacon as well as chicken wings in buffalo flavor. Everything was delicious! I don't usually go for sweet breakfasts but a friend had recommended the corn cakes. They led me in the right direction! They were super fluffy, tasty, and I ate every bite (whoops, I was supposed to save some for leftovers)! The bacon was perfectly to my liking and the chicken wings had great flavor without being too spicy. My friend ordered one of their non-alcoholic fancy drinks -- the Sonoran Sunset -- and it was tasty as well as beautiful. It had three different layers of color along with a fancy rim. Love this local spot. They recently upgraded their space and switched up themes, colors, flooring and name! Formerly known to Tucson locals as La Cocina, Jojos upgraded over their 'summer break' and are serving up some new stuff for the community. This quaint spot is nestled amongst local art and thrift shops with an array of things to see. It's got a cute turtle and coy fish pond center of the restaurant space which is outdoors. A large stage is home to rotating local musicians some evenings. Jojo's has two bars and menus for lunch, dinner and brunch (special hours) . There are bathrooms on site and a smoking area for those partaking. Thus far I've enjoyed the menu, with an exception to the veggie sandwich which is great but just a little simple in flavors for me. I love the whole vibe of JoJo's. exceptional service. the outdoor seating is dreamy. love the unique vegan options on their menu. went out of my comfort zone trying the eggplant caponata sandwich which was good and the bread was soft. they offer vegan potato salad as one of their sides and it's really good. will definitely go back to try the potato tacos which are also vegan. read more

The best part about Jojo's is the atmosphere. There was a line around the corner for a seat at this quaint restaurant, probably due to its colorful patio and fun live music. While the dish I ordered was yummy, I wouldn't say it was anything to write home about when compared to a lot of the Mexican food you can get around Tucson. However, I would definitely go back here to get some chips and salsa and perhaps a drink, because the atmosphere is so nice! read more

All that being said, I ordered the 3 tacos which arrived " build your own." I ordered the birria which turned out to be a pile of dried out tasteless shredded beef. There was a side of 2 jalapeño slices and a few limp onion and cabbage slices. Tacos were warm and wrapped in foil. I asked for more cabbage and onion which they brought acknowledging that I was shorted on the taco ingredients. This was truly the worst taco dinner I have had in 50 years of eating in Tucson. First of all I am a huge french fry fanatic like I am a crazy potato person and the french fries are amazing! We had the nachos. They were good but our friends had a salad and their salad looked amazing. I just wish on the nachos they would have put a little more of that. Wonderful topping sauce. JoJo"s had a nice atmosphere with patio type seating. I had the classic breakfast with bacon; probably hard to see it in the picture since it was so thin. They charged an extra $4 for this flimsy 2 straps of bacon. My first inquiry about it the server said it was suppose to be a light breakfast while bringing out a couple ounces of butter as part of my order. There were 3 hours like this and the server said they would bring out extra servings of bacon but brought only 1 more order of 2 thin slices. I asked about it again and the server asked "what do you want, a pile of bacon". Then I told her would you pay $4 for that. She also seem to have been bothered when asked to provide straws for the water. Doubt if I come here again. For the price, I could have gone to many other restaurants where breakfast includes bacon; I don't understand the big thing this restaurant has with making it a separate charge; at least have thick cut if you going to chage extra for it. Just tried this place this week and the patio was adorable. We enjoyed the live music while eating dinner. I had the Court Ave Burger and it was good. There were a few things I noticed however: 1. I ordered the burger medium and it definitely came out well done. It wasn't dry though and was still flavorful so I ate it 2. The fries were underwhelming and not as crispy as I was expecting 3. Service was quick to take our order and serve the food but very slow in coming back around to give us a bill. Overall, the burger flavors were great and the ambiance was lovely which is why I'm giving them 4 stars. read more

Jojo's restaurant is one of the best outdoor dining spots in all of Tucson. Their food is good and their service is great. Highly recommend the Patatas Bravas, House Olives, and Pork Tacos with their non-alcoholic Tamarind Sunrise. Their covered patio is full of lush overgrown foliage and shade sails with water features that make it comfortable and inviting. They often have live music which adds to the experience. Oh man, I hate to leave this review but it was so awful and I just don't want to have anyone else think they will get something they won't. I took my daughter there while she was visiting because first, I miss Tall Boys on 4th, and this place says it is also Tall Boys, and second, the pics online showed the cutest place. it was lovely outside. We went for breakfast/early lunch. First, we asked for mimosas but the lady behind the counter said no because only the bartender could pour alcohol. Ok..no big deal. I ordered the corn cakes and my daughter ordered street tacos. she spun the pin pad around and I put in a 22% tip, since no one took my order at the table, I figured 25% wasn't warranted. After I paid, she told us that the water and water cups we at the end of the counter and gave me a beeper to call me back to the counter for my food. When I picked it up she asked me to put my dirty plates in the bus tub outside. what? I did all my own service but they asked for a tip? Then came the food...I was so excited for the corn cakes since this was my favorite at Tall Boys. oh goodness. they were doughy inside, and we not cooked thru. I did not eat them. The tacos were just OK and we shared them. I would have asked for a correction on my meal but it was so u and I didn't feel like walking all the way back in there. Oh well. The service was good, nice but nothing notable. We love the location and ambiance and the live music at the end of the night was nice so we'd come back to experience that again.. I would give it 3.5 stars if we could do half stars. My birria tacos were really salty, everyone in our party said their food was meh.. not bad but not great. I had some great pinxtos here last night, with a glass of wine. I ordered the flight for just 12.00. The mushroom, chorizo baguette was delicious, and packed with tasty mushrooms, the egg salad was my favorite, and loved my huge mesquite shrimp! I also had the Basque cheesecake for dessert, it was light and so fluffy, and came with a raspberry sauce to pour over - very good!! My friend had the market salad, which also looked delicious! I love this courtyard, the lights came on when it got dark, and was beautiful after some Tucson rain. Our waitress was excellent, making sure we were well - fed, and spoke to us about how the chef is Basque, and that's all of the Basque dishes come from on the menu. A beautiful setting for outdoor dining with cozy and relaxing atmosphere, I really enjoyed it with my family during today's luncheon. We sat next to the ponds with koi fish & turtles under a large tree. The service staff were very friendly & nice. It was very pleasant to be in such environments with many other business around, sharing the same spaces with the dining area. The food was excellent to our tasting. I had the JoJo Franchesinha -- a must try -- very good ! Others: Chicken tacos (3 tacos), Cauliflower Wings (yummy), and Tallboy Tots, and BBQ Chicken Sandwich. Came here around noon on a sunny Saturday. Didn't have reservations, but we were seated in a few minutes. There was live music and outside seating, which brought a nice ambiance along with our meal. I wanted to try something that I've never had and so I opted for the Jojo's Francesinha. The serving size is a good portion. The red sauce reminds me of a light marinara. The meat is between two breads, which will soak up and become soggy. My wife had the one with tater tots, which she really enjoyed. Prices were around $15-16. There are a few shops nearby that you can walk off your meal afterwards too. read more

The service was top notch and the environment was peaceful and lovely. We had the virgin margaritas and carnitas tacos and they extremely delectable. Plus, virtually everything is celiac safe.
