    Ruben sandwich for lunch

Quiet bar for an early lunch. Friendly, kind bar tender, cold draft beer, generous helping of meat on a crispy grilled Ruben sandwich with fresh side salad.

I've driven past this place many times not even knowing that they were there. I'm so glad a friend recommended going here. The drinks are amazing. The food is even better. Looking forward to returning with more friends for a great food and excellent drinks. All the bartenders and servers were amazing. The food portions are enormous enough for two to share & the drinks are equally the same Nice little spot just to hang out. Have fun eat & drink, and have a great timep

Big appetite? This is definitely the right place. And delicious and tasty. The service was amazing. Sat down, served us our drinks, took our order. Appetizers were served. Followed by food. Food was fresh, and delicious. Big portions. And very flavorful. Big appetite, then most definitely recommend, or take leftovers home.

I got kind of weird vibes from this place but it came highly recommend by my boyfriend who used to come here all the time when it was located on 4th avenue. I think they moved for a larger location but it's definitely more out of the way than it used to be. We arrived at about 6pm on Wednesday evening and the bar was fairly busy but the restaurant side was practically empty. I think there was one other couple and that's it. Service was prompt but the waiter seemed like he was stoned. Again weird vibes from him too. I got the half order of the Who's Your Daddy hoagie sandwich and a side salad with ranch. The hoagie was a bit dry (not enough mayo) and it was cold towards the bottom even though it's supposed to be served hot. The cheese on top was not melted all the way. The side salad and ranch were very tasty. Bonus points for what seemed like house made crutons. Overall it wasn't amazing but it wasn't horrible either. Just your typical place for American style food. With so many other options in the area I don't know if I will come back anytime soon.

The food was good and hot. The service is prompt. The restaurant is like 1960's retro.

Margaret was the best ever waitress ever. Funny, attentive, had a great conversation. No stars of the show. Portions are HUGE!! The food and the drinks are marvelous!! The Fruit Cocktail Drink has real fruit in it. You can tell it has been infused for awhile. The Bloody Mary has the Hot and Sticky Sauce which also comes as a sauce for the Chicken Fried Meatloaf. Incredible. The meatloaf is the absolute best and next level when its chicken fried. The wings were cooked well. Wish they were seasoned prior or after they came our the fryer. You are only viewing half a sandwich in each sandwich photo. The music is a blend of 60's and 70's some 80's. It was definitely a vibe..a good vibe. Check out their menu here. Don't know why I have not checked out this place sooner. https://www.bumstedsaz.com/food

Bad Attitude Chicken Fried Meatloaf Sandwich and Sweet Potato Fries
    Sarah F.

Love that I finally tried this Tucson hidden gem! The diner in the front is super cute and the staff was helpful and attentive. I tried their famous meatloaf and opted for the chicken fried version of the Bad Attitude and it was tasty - the mushrooms were cooked perfectly and the meatloaf was delicious. The only thing that would have made it better was a bit more horseradish mayo. The Styx pretzels are AMAZING I loved the cheese sauce (didn't try the gravy because I'm not a gravy fan). Lots of parking in the back and a cute bar on the other side of the building if you want to grab a drink. Will be back again to keep trying new stuff from their gigantic menu!

Visited Bumsteds after attending some near by gem shows. Ordered the Mac Daddy and it was sooooo good. Highly recommend 10/10. Staff were super friendly and the restaurant is nice.

Today I experienced the most delicious sandwich that I have ever eaten! Bumsted's menu is extensive, and you need to read the sandwich descriptions because every sandwich has an intriguing name. My choice today was "Anything for Love": a thick hunk of incredible meatloaf on a choice of bread (I chose marbled rye) with a mouthwatering sauce and caramelized onions, with a generous side dish. (I had the sweet potato fries.) This was washed down with a huge glass of tropical rum punch with 5 or 6 kinds of fruit including pineapple and lychee nuts... practically a meal in itself! My husband had a ginormous club sandwich on sourdough which he thoroughly enjoyed. Neither of us had room for dessert, but maybe next time, as the desserts sound pretty amazing. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other sandwiches since they all sound good. Our waitress April was charming and very accommodating. We ate in the bar area as the main dining room was closed at lunchtime, but I took a peek through the window and it has a classic retro coffee shop vibe. Maybe we'll go back when they're having karaoke, but we will definitely be back for the food which I would give more than 5 stars if I could!

This place was recommended by my husband's employee. Her family loved it, so we got curious, cause my husband was intrigued by the menu, the food combination is different. We went on a Saturday morning it just opened and place is practically empty. Server was not friendly and accommodating. She was working by herself and you can see the table and chairs are dirty. Restaurants should not have traces of food from the previous night or day of service, if staff is really doing their job. There's a lot of downtime for cleaning, for they are not busy. Anyway, the food is okay, but not as great. Although they give you a huge portion. Drinking cups and utensils doesn't look as clean. I don't know if I will be coming back to this place. If out of curiosity people will come and try this place out, it may or may not work for them. Food is okay, don't get me wrong.

    Super cute bar!

I forgot which night it was now since we stayed in DT Tucson for Tour de Tucson from Thursday to Sunday. Oh, Actually I think it was a Saturday night because I remember wanting to go somewhere that had TVs that would show the Vegas F1 race. We got a table without reservation and they didn't have anything F1 on TV.. so we started just watching from our phone but then I noticed one of the main TVs above the bar started showing F1.. Now, I don't know if the servers of Elliott's were that observant and awesome or, they were already planning to show it once the race started... I choose to believe that our server was so awesome that she noticed we were watching F1 race on our tiny phone and put it on TV for us!! Honestly, just for that, 5 stars in my book. What also is a bonus is how good their food is. Sometimes you get nervous going to a local bar because food is not always good...though the people who run it and the place might be fun. However, you get all of the above at Elliott's. We ordered some mussels (cooked to perfection, not overcooked at all), pear salad, pineapple cider (delish), fish tacos, and steak. Everything was pleasantly yummy and the star was the mussels, which I did not expect to taste this fresh and delish, talking about setting low expectations and be pleasantly surprised! Overall, highly recommend. It did get darker and lots more busy and loud as we finished dinner and the Vegas F1 race finished. Def the place to bring people and friends to hang out and enjoy good food!

So many higher-end expensive restaurants serve bland, tasteless food, meanwhile this amazing mid-ranged restaurant is serving some of the best dishes I've ever had. The smashed chicken was probably the best chicken dish I have ever had at a restaurant. The skin was perfectly crispy while the meat was juicy and well-seasoned. The ginger and herb salsa verde was so fresh and aromatic. The cilantro rice complimented the lemongrass aioli perfectly. Everything was seasoned perfectly, and I'm usually one to reach for the salt shaker at most restaurants. Smoked olives are a concept I have never considered before. It's a concept that was executed perfectly here. So savory, flavorful, and complex. I'd love to have a few with a dirty martini. Speaking of drinks, my Casino gin cocktail was great. Perfect level of sweetness and tartness. I knew I had to order dessert after how good everything else was, even though I am usually not a dessert person. The oolong tea cake was nothing short of incredible. The tea flavor was subtle but paired well with the fluffy and light honey buttercream. Not too sweet at all. Of course, the service was great too. Our waiter was very attentive and personable. My first experience at 5 points made me realize that this is what restaurants should strive to be. I can tell there is passion poured into every dish with every ingredient thoughtfully melded together. I can't wait to bring everyone I know here so they can experience this too!!

My wife pulled out her trusty phone, where she soon was directed to the highly-rated Raptor Canyon Cafe. So off we went. A warm and sincere greeting was the first of many pleasant things that we would experience in the next 45 minutes or so. The attitude and warmth of the staff here is exceptional. One really feels appreciated and welcomed while here. (*at least, my wife and I did) The place is decorated with a cute desert-Southwest vibe. A large building-sized mural of Father Kino mounted upon his rock-pony, is framed by the cute windows that look out on the quiet downtown streets. "Comfortable, with a slight splash of a mid-1970's Tucson cafe" is the energy I felt as we dined. One of my favorite things in the place is a steel-welded hawk figurine that is perched above the stately kitchen door. I imagined him tapping gently as he sat above the busy floor. And quoth the raptor, "The quesadilla is fy-orre". (Yes, I know, "floor", and "fire" don't really rhyme.) I never said I could spit fire (street lingo for being able to rhyme well.) My wife broke-character and ordered a breakfast sandwich. She normally goes for something more exotic, but as it turns out, this choice was a hit. Sometimes, simple things can offer great pleasures-and her egg and bacon filled biscuit offered proof of this statement. I listened to the imagined whisper of the watchful hawk, and decided to follow his raptorial wisdom/advice. Soon, the bacon quesadilla was placed before me (see photo). I added a splash of the locally produced hot sauce offered with a bit of ketchup and it all came together beautifully. The textures of the grilled tortilla; the barely not too hot melted cheese, and the crispy thick slices of bacon were as close to perfection that plate of breakfast could come. It really was good-eating in the neighborhood. We both ordered the fried potatoes with peppers and onions. If you go and don't get one of these, it will be a rookie move. Do not forget to order this side...esta muy bueno! It is actually a lot of food, and my better-half and I agreed that we could have split the dish. But, as we stood to say our good-byes and thank you's, neither of our plates had any evidence that fried potatoes had recently rested upon them. They actually looked like they had just been taken from the dishwasher--spot less. All-and-all, this place quickly worked its way into my heart. It's got wonderful chow (just In case I didn't emphasize how tasty is was--it was "really-really-really" good eats). The entire Raptor Canyon's staff shared pleasant demeanors, and the place has a comfortable and welcoming ambiance. Officially, I would categorize this establishment as a, "hidden gem" of Tucson. You have my permission to go there, but please keep it, "on the down-low "so that it doesn't get too popular. (*wink)
