Burger with Lodge Fries

I admit I'm a snob when it comes to Mexican Cusine. My mother made the best Tamales and meneudo. However, there is Cielos with a deconstructed type tamale that was light and fluffy unlike what you would typically expect from the rolled steamed hand held meat pies. Their guacamole was chunky and savory. I appreciated not having bagged chips that were very light and not overly salted. We also had a hamburgués with delicious steak fries. For desert we're churros that were not ladened with grease and a chocolate torte cake. Our server was helpful and attentive despite being a Saturday afternoon the restaurant was nearly empty. Next time I would love to sit outside and enjoy the water and fire features. Stroll the lovely grounds before to wake up your appetite or after to walk off the last of the churros you said you couldn't possibly eat.

Cute spot but was we were surprised to be the only ones in the restaurant on a Saturday for lunch. The staff was kind and attentive but the food was just okay.

came here for dinner with my boyfriend last night. we really enjoyed the appetizer and entrees, would definitely come back! our server Amanda was great and the ambiance is also great. we would have loved to sit outside on the patio with a fireplace but it was too windy. looking forward to coming back!

Had a great experience at Cielos. The salmon was amazing, service was good, vibe was 10/10. Highly recommend.

I would say we had a lovely meal on Saturday night after my aunts check in to the hotel. We did have a reservation , so no wait and they were pretty packed. They have inside , covered patio and indoor bar seating available that I saw. Very beautifully decorated inside, welcoming and cozy. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I had the short rib and omg it was so good. Tender and juicy, i practically licked my plate lol. I know my mom and aunt also enjoyed their meals . I had a bite of the pasta yum! And the fundito was also good. A great place to go if you're staying next door at Lodge on the Desert or even for a night out dinner.

This is one of the most underrated restaurants in Tucson. How is this gem not a 5 star spot is beyond me! If you like Hacienda Del Sol, you must come here. The same vibe, quaintness, beauty. It absolutely shows off in a way that rivals HDS. Our plan was to go to a restaurant near by, but when we showed up, they were closed. That was the best thing that could have happened, because it prompted us to remember next door! What a WONDERFUL and Beautiful experience! The staff was friendly, the ambiance was stunning and the food was out of this world, cooked to perfection. There are not enough accolades I can give to the experience tonight. I can not wait to come back and bring friends possibly on Saturdays where they have live music. For the food: the chorizo wontons with a mango passion fruit drizzle was TO DIE FOR! It was truly the most enjoyable, unexpected pairing and I can not get enough! Hubby had the scallops. They were cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crisp to the outside. He substituted the sweet potatoes with the gratin potatoes. Oh my god. Perfect. My salmon was also cooked perfect and came with some sort of squash risotto and greens which superbly complimented the meal. Last we had the lemon bar dessert. Margaritas are so good. Literally- there is nothing- not one thing- they could have done better. We will be back!

Lovely space with indoor and outdoor seating. Great service. Their food is contemporary American food with a southwest fusion. They have a very reasonably priced happy hour menu everyday. Desserts rounded out the meal well.

Don't miss those delish hush puppies!

The perfect patio for an evening of chilling out! We went to Cielo's to celebrate a special occasion and had a fantastic meal, including those amazing green corn tamale hush puppies -- SO good. The entire courtyard has an easygoing ambience, with Southwestern charm at every turn (from the tiled fireplace and fountain to the landscape art and bird sculptures on the eaves), and we enjoyed the excellent food and friendly, attentive service. If you order a drink, it's there within a minute or two and served with a smile. Welcoming and relaxing in every way -- can't wait to go back!

The grilled pork chop and scallops in a sweet potato puree were out of this world!

I booked Cielos for my husband's birthday and it exceeded my expectations! The ambiance is magical both inside and outside. We sat on the patio next to the lovely fireplace with cafe lights overhead. The server went above and beyond and ensure our experience was a memorable one. I ordered the scallops and my husband had the pork chop. Both were delicious and perfectly prepared! It just became our favorite restaurant in the Tucson area.

Chorizo fundido
Faye I.

Cute setting, nice outdoor (and indoor) ambiance, and perfect weather in July for dinner. Plenty of outdoor seating as well as indoor seating. Indoor seating is surrounded by super sliding doors, which were opened last night due to perfect weather. We started with the chorizo fundido, followed by the green chile tamale and lodge pasta for entrees. Chorizo fundido had very little chorizo, but the cheese flavor was perfect. It came on a sizzling skillet, which hardened the bottom of the cheese eventually, making it crispy and good! Served with corn tortillas. Green chile tamales were disappointing. There was very little sauce, and more masa than anything inside the tamales itself. It was very bland and tasteless. The lodge pasta was a better choice, although the chicken was a bit dry. Service was very friendly. It wasn't that busy on a Friday night, but the hostess and servers appeared very approachable and easy to talk to. The chorizo fundido was the best thing we tried. Great ambiance though.

Chips and salsa ($9)
Sandee L.

Our Orbitz VIP perk was complimentary chips and salsa and one drink up to a $15 value. My bf got the "award winning" monsoon margarita. I was disappointed it didn't come with the blue agave foam! I got a prickly pear espumoso ($9), which is basically a mimosa. The champagne was almost totally flat. I would not pay $9 for the chips and salsa. Noted the gratuity was not included. I'm giving it 3 stars since we got essentially got 70% of the base bill for free, but if we paid full price it would be a 2.

I'm so glad we finally got to go! Upon arriving, we see a very clean, very beautiful place. We sit at the bar and immediately get some menus and water. Aaron gave us a few minutes to look over the menu and came back to get our drink order, my hubs got the Gotham City and I ordered a glass of their house red, and bonus, it was on the happy hour menu so $2 dollars off! We stared with some calamari to go with our drinks and we later ordered our dinner. We had to go with the steak and frites which is just phenomenal. I mean, seriously, it was jackpot, home-run, better than winning the lottery fantastic dish. We have had steak and frites in France, they do not compare. The hanger was perfectly cooked, sliced accordingly as well sitting on a beautiful bed of hand cut fries and smothered in the world's richest, creamiest, decadent mushroom sauce....it is bonkers! To die for! I can't say enough about this dish, man i had dreams about it last night!! We then ordered another round of Gotham City cocktails which remind me of a very luxurious Black manhattan and enjoyed the baseball game for a bit while having a nice conversation with a wonderful couple sitting next to us. Aaron then checked on us once again even though he was super busy making the entire restaurant drinks. We thanked him, paid our bill and went home. I tell you, this place is magic. They also have a smash burger and pint of beer for dirt cheap, we will be back for this and of course the steak and frites. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Perfect touch of cheese and toppings ratios to the meat. The staff is friendly and made this a lovely first time dinner experience here.

Located downtown, this unique bar is inside a boutique hotel. Since it's downtown, street parking is your best bet (free at night). Ambiance (4.5/5): This is part of where Unicorn Zebra shines. Definite animal theme going with some cool status and decor. It's modern, trendy, and a little out there. Which makes for a cool experience. The main bar is relatively small. 10 seats or so at the bar and a couple of tables. What you won't immediately realize is that if you go up the stairs in the lobby of the hotel, you'll get to a second level of the bar. This is more of a lounge with comfortable seating and board games. I got to enjoy both. Service (4/5): Two bartenders were working, even though it's a small bar, which is always appreciated. I ordered one cocktail. I was greeted promptly, my order was taken quickly, prepared, and she ended up closing me out without me asking since they were closing soon. Solid overall. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior to stopping by. I didn't notice whether they offer food or not. Drinks (5/5): I have a lot of cocktails in my day (typing this with my chest puffed out). After many years of visiting countless watering holes, I will say that Unicorn Zebra has one of the most unique cocktails I've tried in my life. It was so out there that I was unsure whether or not I should try it. I even asked the bartender about it. I'm happy I took the plunge. Let me paint a picture for you. Vodka infused with basil, buffalo mozzarella, and tomatoes. Served with two cherry tomatoes as garnishes... yup! If it sounds disgusting to you, just trust me. It tastes like a Margherita pizza in liquid form. So glad I tried it as it was hands down not only unique, but one of the best cocktails I've ever sipped on. Thank you Unicorn Zebra for a memorable experience!

We'd heard good things about this place and have been trying to support local downtown bars this summer, so we stopped in around 11 on a Friday night before heading home. As we sat down, we watched the bartender be pretty dismissive toward another group at the bar, so we were already a little unsure. We started talking about the decor because we liked the eclectic vibe. We jokingly pointed out that one of the pictures had a joint instead of a cigarette because someone in our group hadn't noticed. One of the bartender's first comments back, completely seriously, was, "I'm from San Diego. Have you never seen art before?" Honestly... what? It was such a weird, unnecessarily condescending response. I brushed it off at first as awkward banter, but it was a really strange first impression. The drinks were decent. The Loverlist was really good, and the Unicorn Fluff and Old Fashioned were fine. The bartender was quick to talk up their whiskey selection, but when we asked for a recommendation, she mostly gave reasons why she couldn't recommend anything and just kept saying they had "over 90 different options." Without a whiskey menu to look through, that wasn't especially helpful. We also asked for a shooter and were offered half of a cocktail instead. That would've been totally fine on its own, but combined with everything else, the service just never felt welcoming. We ended up leaving pretty quickly. I'd give the place another shot because the atmosphere is fun and has a lot of potential, but hopefully with a different bartender behind the bar.

We sat at the bar and immediately ordered a few tropical drinks and a sampler plate. It was definitely bar food but, still tasty. The biggest surprise was their ribs! They were seasoned well, the sauce was flavorful, and the meat was cooked perfectly. It hit the spot! Service was great, and the best part was the people watching. I ordered a mai tai hoping for the former, but received the latter. While the interior is still cool - the iconic sign is in disrepair and it feels like they're just phoning in a half-hearted attempt at keeping the bar alive - instead trading on its history. We had a primary server who was excellent but several staff will circulate to check on drinks, food. We each ordered something different, allowing us to turn a 3 course sampling into six! The sheeted carrot "lasagne" was probably our least favorite, though by no means bad. And that is partly because the other appetizer (grilled swordfish chilaquiles) was sooo good. For entrees we got the Brined and roasted pork chop, and the Petrale sole. The pork chop was a solid, 1+ inch thick and surprisingly juicy (brining!). The sole was tender, delicate, and delicious with its gribiche sauce. Each came with excellent "breads" - super airy biscuits with the Sole and amazing pear and taleggio cheese fritters with the pork. We split a pair of desserts as well: Verrine: parfait of pistachio mousse - incredibly inventive and (nicely) barely sweet. And the Frangipane fruit tart - think of a light marzipan tart. Needless to say we loved both desserts for their unconventional riff on a standard. A definite winner from among the 125 options this year! Reservations are advised.
