So I've been to this part of Vero Amore's one time for high tea. I think it's even better as a speakeasy. Love the wall of chianti bottles that lead to the bar and love that the staff dress up in casual Prohibition garb. Came here for girl's night and it was everyone's first time even at the restaurant but mine. I'd had dinner a couple times in the restaurant for my birthday and had the cheese wheel fettuccine alfredo. I asked if anyone was interested in trying it and so 3 of us split it which ended up being pretty perfect. It is hands down THE BEST fettuccine alfredo. We had many drinks come to our table, the first round being the homemade limoncello. Made with local Meyer lemons, it is deliciously potent. A must try. The bartender, Ryan or Brian, he made cocktails from the heart. A couple of gals ordered "dealer's choice" drinks and they were inspired by the drinker's stories. It was really a unique experience for them and I could almost see his mind working out the chemistry of the libations. Another must try, although I didn't because I had to drive myself home. I did have a coffee with Bailey's, Amaretto, and freshly-made whipped cream. Last must try if not on a coffee drink maybe on a dessert. One person in our party thought that the drinks were on the spendy side. Many of the ingredients were house made and all top shelf. I'm from Los Angeles so an $18 drink was a normal night at the klerb. Worth mentioning if that would be a deal breaker. Worth a go. I thought it was better than the speakeasy at the Sonoran House which was too bright and not intimate. You really like feel more like you're not where you're supposed to be at The Still. There is a curio cabinet with cigars that I think are for sale. The speakeasy opens up to the patio for all the smoke suckers. I absolutely love coming to The Still. I love getting a Dealer's Choice. This where the bartenders ask you different we questions on what you like and a drink comes out. I am never disappointed. I am so excited for the upcoming pizza night, where you can eat unlimited amount of pizza for only $20. I am also excited for Italy tea in July. I love a good speakeasy and this was close to my house. I requested a reservation early Saturday night, received a text confirmation, and waited in our area. Our mixologist, Robert, led us to the secret door. There was a small indoor seating area and an outdoor area with lighting. The focus is the bar and the top shelf alcohol they serve. This place is SO cool. It's a true speakeasy, hidden in the back of a restaurant. It has a large patio area with space heaters and a smaller indoor seating area. We were greeted by staff and brought to an area far from the regular dining floor and through ran inconspicuous wall. The bartender was very knowledgeable and was able to make curated drinks from our taste needs. The restaurants full menu was also above which was nice. There was a nice sitting area outdoors with fire pits however we did not have jackets to weather the 40 degrees so maybe next time. The music was instrumentals 60's to 80's which was fun. We love to stop at The Still every time we visit Tucson. It's a neat little spot. The resident bartender, Robert, has the perfect personality for this job. He knows his drinks, makes them with perfection and pride. Is there something that is not on the drink menu that you'd like? Robert has got you taken care of. So why a 3 star rating you ask?...it's because of neglect. We like to sit outside on the patio, partly because we can enjoy a cigar with our cocktail. The patio has become run down and dirty. It's a storage place for extra furniture and firewood for the pizza oven. The sofas that they have are dirty and broken down. (see pic) Tables are left dirty and not bussed. Just have a busser drop by every 15 minutes, it would be a big first step. I have no problem spending $20 a pop for a good cocktail, which Robert provides, but you need to give me a decent atmosphere to enjoy it. Get rid of the crap on the patio...replace the furniture, look at the lighting, maybe a plant or two. The Still's patio could be awesome...but it's hurting. We love a good speakeasy and the Still was no exception! From the reservation request process, to the arrival and seating - it was prohibition meets 21st century. Robert is some kind of cocktail wizard constructing creations that will have all of your senses exploding with intrigue! I started with a drink on the menu but gave him the heads up I'd want a Dealers Choice after. His response "heard". And heard it was- my next crafted cocktail was exactly what I was craving. We ordered a plate of fried ravioli from the restaurant and it was tasty enough we will have to go for a full meal next time. Went in early January 2025. My partner and I were visiting friends, who happened to be friends with one of the bartenders, Robert. I'm not big on alcohol, the bite really gets to me. It's rare for me to have even a single cocktail in a month. I had to stop myself from getting more than two. Settled for a mocktail as my third drink. All were delicious, haven't had any cocktails as good as I got here before or since. It was really cold out, but luckily, they have fire pits in the back! I know it's Tucson in June but man can you please turn down your ac, it was really uncomfortable in there! Don't sit at the bar by the outside seating because you will be blasted by the outside heat! My husband and I have lived in Tucson for several years and had never been here! We stumbled upon this place on a busy Saturday night. The dim lighting and speakeasy vibes, coupled with the highly entertaining and hilarious bartenders Cassandra and Robert made this a unique and special experience. I got the Flumph which is their take on a mimosa. It was a delight and I appreciated the hints orange blossom. My husband got the Cloak of Rohan which was orange bitter forward and a definite "sipper," as it was very strong. When we noticed they had yellow chartreuse (a rare liquor find), we ordered a cocktail off the menu called Naked & Famous. A lesser known cocktail, but Cassandra was able to make it and it was our favorite drink of the night. This place feels like someone from Tucson went to a big city, saw a cool thing, and tried to replicate it in a town that doesn't understand what a speakeasy is. It appears they took a back, unusable room, painted it a dark color, and slapped up a kitschy sign and called it good. The pros: my drink was good. But in a limited information menu, we only come to find out later that it was $18. You can order off the full restaurant menu, but based on what we had (6 tiny fried ravioli pieces rolling around an otherwise empty plate with massive, seemingly off the shelves ranch and marinara cups for $14) we likely won't be returning to the main restaurant. Cons: My wife's mocktail, overly sweet at best, was $10. Granted it's summer in Tucson, but it was 87 degrees back there, wedged between the kitchen and exposed patio doors. In asking about why it was so warm we were told that's the best the AC could do. The service was over the top unnecessary. The female bartender actively interrupted the entire table's conversation anytime she wanted to make her presence known. She actively complained about the place, the management, the restaurant, and even when she was behind the bar, her inside voice just chatting with her coworker was the loudest thing in the bar. This place was an absolutely wonderful experience. I went as one, originally making a reservation for 9pm on Saturday during the Halloween weekend. I ended up changing my plans, and requested to reschedule earlier. They were able to fit me in at 7pm, and I'm so glad I went then. I don't typically frequent speakeasy type establishments and felt a little out of my depth, so requested a dealer's choice for both drinks, initially providing me what types of alcohol I'm partial to and what mix ins I'm not a fan of. First drink was his twist on a manhattan which was I enjoyed. To be honest, I'm not quite sure I remember what was in it but it was definitely a good choice. Second drink was a twist on a jungle bird, which blew me out of the water. It had ingredients that would have put me off when ordering, but he managed to make a drink that's making me question my stance on what I like and what I don't. Would have gone for the lucky three but I wanted to keep my wits about me. What was a nice add on was that we were able to order from the Vero Amore as well as the small plates menu in addition to my drinks. I ordered the Hummus, thinking when they said small plate they meant small plate. Yeah...no. You get your money's worth. It was tasty, and filled me up alongside my drink. In addition, ordered a pasta dish to take home later. As a heads up, your food will take a bit, as the bar takes on the same mentality as the restaurant: good food takes time, it's worth the effort, And it was. I've been on the hunt for speakeasies in Tucson, so we decided to try this one out one night. It's a very cool concept and attached to a great place to grab dinner beforehand. Unfortunately, the people that were supposed to show us to the speakeasy took about 15 minutes to come to grab us (after our reservation). The drinks were tasty, and they had some unique flavors to try out, but they were a little out of my normal price range (about $20 per cocktail, which is a little high for Tucson in my opinion). I don't like writing bad reviews without explaining what would have made an experience better or even mildly adequate, So here it goes.... I stumbled upon this so-called "speakeasy" with a friend and had a great experience - friendly environment, only a couple of people, very attentive and informative bartenders, etc. The drinks were VERY expensive (minimum of $18 each) but also worth it for the overall experience. I decided to return with my partner a few weeks later with a reservation. Upon arrival, there was no refinance of my previous experience. There was no welcome as there had been the first visit, the bartender was talking to herself and complaining about the guests, the drink I ordered to be hot was served cold, and it was crowded and an unwelcoming environment altogether. $18 minimum for a single drink was NOT worth it. It felt like one of the lesser places Tucson has to offer and I will mot be returning unless changes are made. Just go and enjoy yourselves! This is a special place to really relax and savor high quality drinks and service. We were fortunate to have scored a whiskey 101 tasting with the GM Brent after meeting him the night before during my husband's delicious birthday dinner at Vero Amore, the home base in which The Still hides. We wanted to learn all about this line of liquor and we sure did! Comparing a variety of whiskey, scotch, and bourbon was so helpful to discover what appealed the most to each of us.
