You pull up in the parking lot and the building does look like some sort of shelter. It ain't pretty.... When you walk through the front door, you're greeted by the scents of stale cigarette smoke and Fabuloso. The decor is something out of the mid 60's. It's a very fun, unpretentious place. Good service, fun drinks and a great escape from our crazy world. Check it out!

It's kitsch and offbeat, maybe even offputting if you think too hard about the legacy of that family, but it's anything but boring. What I love: They're big on doing their own infusions. You absolutely must try Pam's Spicy Lemonade--Hornitos with thai chili and mint. I've also had coffee-infused liquors here before that you'll rarely find anywhere else. I'm not a smoker, but I get stoked for their enclosed smoking patio with a couple old arcade cabinets (I like Centipede!) What I like: There are like, really cheap simple cocktails with the creativity to make some unappealing, bottom shelf liquors taste palatable. Those aren't my usuals, but I'm always intrigued. I will shamelessly have a couple $3 High Lifes. There's only one big bar in the center of the lobby, but service is generally fast. It's dimly lit and can be tightly packed, but you'll still have fun. Good for date night or groups of four or less. No food, but once in a blue moon you'll find a truck parked out front. Overall, a solid Tucson staple.

Love the wall of chianti bottles that lead to the bar and love that the staff dress up in casual Prohibition garb. Came here for girl's night and it was everyone's first time even at the restaurant but mine. I'd had dinner a couple times in the restaurant for my birthday and had the cheese wheel fettuccine alfredo. I asked if anyone was interested in trying it and so 3 of us split it which ended up being pretty perfect. It is hands down THE BEST fettuccine alfredo. We had many drinks come to our table, the first round being the homemade limoncello. Made with local Meyer lemons, it is deliciously potent. A must try. The bartender, Ryan or Brian, he made cocktails from the heart. A couple of gals ordered "dealer's choice" drinks and they were inspired by the drinker's stories. It was really a unique experience for them and I could almost see his mind working out the chemistry of the libations. Another must try, although I didn't because I had to drive myself home. I did have a coffee with Bailey's, Amaretto, and freshly-made whipped cream. Last must try if not on a coffee drink maybe on a dessert. One person in our party thought that the drinks were on the spendy side. Many of the ingredients were house made and all top shelf. I'm from Los Angeles so an $18 drink was a normal night at the klerb. Worth mentioning if that would be a deal breaker. Worth a go. I thought it was better than the speakeasy at the Sonoran House which was too bright and not intimate. You really like feel more like you're not where you're supposed to be at The Still. There is a curio cabinet with cigars that I think are for sale. The speakeasy opens up to the patio for all the smoke suckers. Great for a small groups or date night, maybe not the first date.

I should have called ahead of time, but I assumed it would be available all week. Regardless, we did have a good meal. Service was excellent, and our waitress was very attentive and kind. We ordered a couple of apps and an entree to share. The food was pretty good, but the bowl of Brussels sprouts to share was huuuuge, so unfortunately we didn't get to eat much else. I suppose in terms of price, it was worth it, but I ended up eating Brussels sprouts for a couple of days after this meal, haha. I think it would be better if the price and portion was lower, but I suppose the serving size is good for a larger party. The birria quesadillas were delicious! I had a great time and will dine here again.

The following day my wife and four other ladies at her table showed symptoms of food poisoning, some of them pretty severe. My wife was in bed the following day with nausea and severe diarrhea. The others experienced similar problems. Some extending for days. One had to seek medical attention for severe dehydration. The next day I called the restaurant twice to ask to speak to a manager and inform them what the ladies were experiencing and that it appeared that it was most likely food poisoning as a result of what they ate at the restaurant. Both times I called I was told by a hostess that there was no manager available to talk to me. After an hour or so after the second call, I did get a call back from someone who said he was a chef at the restaurant and I explained to him that what had happened. His response sounded as if the restaurant's lawyers were sitting at his side and coaching him. It was as if I were trying to scam the restaurant out of a free meal. At one point he suggested that the ladies probably just had indigestion. It's been five days since we dined there and two of the ladies are still ill. None of us who have contacted the restaurant have been contacted by a call back from a manager. I and others in our group have filed food poisoning reports with the Pima County Health Department hoping that will result in some positive action to be taken. My wife and I have dined there numerous times over the years and have always enjoyed the ambiance, the food and the service. Because of this recent experience and the lack of any response to our concerns and calls it will be a long time before we return.

Everything is made differently with less flavor and finesse. The lettuce wraps used to be standout now they're dry and under seasoned. It was not fried like katsu but more so like a battered chicken breast. It always was not pounded flat into a uniform piece of meat but was more so a badly butchered breast that fell apart when you ate it. It was dry, under seasoned, fried way too hard and was stringy. I'd come for drinks and completely pass on the food all together. Not worth the high price tag associated with it. Karaoke DJ was stellar!!!!! Kept the party going and was so fun!!!!!

That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. Food 7.5 Ambience 8 Service 7 Price 7 7.4 overall C Great place to spend time, just don't expect everything to happen quickly when it's busy.
