We stopped in on a Sunday around 5:15 with a group of six. The bar was empty when we walked in. This is where small businesses have an opportunity to really showcase what they do because they are not overwhelmed by other customers, but from a service standpoint I found that the bartender fell short on being welcoming and taking the time to educate on their extensive menu. Our group as a whole was not a "gin" drinking group but everyone, except me (because I can't drink hard alcohol) ordered a gin based drink to give them a shotm, since this what they are all about. If you don't drink gin, they do have other spirits. When my husband asked if they're had campari, the bartenders response was "we're a gin bar, of course we have campari." Again, maybe another opportunity to just be polite and say yes we do. I've been in customer service and hospitality for the greater part of my career, and it is something I consistently see dropping in Tucson. I want to go back to the places that are enthusiastic about what they do and equally share that with their customers who are ultimately the ones that they rely on to stay in business. While they do have an extensive gin selection, and interesting cocktails, the people vibes did not leave me compelled enough to return for a second try.
We decided to stop in after always walking by and were pleasantly surprised by the vibe of this bar. The decor is relaxed with a good blend of old hits and current music on the playlist. We tried the signature gin cocktail which was great, and turned one of the other fancy options into a non-alcoholic version. The variety and the option for actual N.A. beverages that are not just juice will have us coming back here again!

This is a smaller spot with limited seating but it makes everything feel more special. I tired two cocktails the Blue Juniper and one of the fizz, both outstanding. My wife asked about one of their old cocktails and the owner came by to make it for her and also showed her how to make it if she ever wanted to make it at home. He went beyond what I would have expected and made my wife's night. Juniper continues to be one of our favorite spots in Tucson.

The servers were nice and excited to give us some recommendations. They brought waters to our table before we even ordered, which was appreciated. I like the interior brick wall with the original paintings on it.

The drinks are expensive (some are $17, which is quite high for Tucson), but they do offer a happy hour and a loyalty program, which I really appreciate. I love the creative menu, and it's a great spot for a date night or a nightcap after a show.
I've been wanting to try juniper for so long! I went with a group of friends on a Thursday night and they had a live band playing! Very cozy bar! I ordered the botanical drink and absolutely loved it. Very earthy! Not to mention very aesthetically pleasing! I would highly recommend checking them out!
We always enjoy visiting Juniper in downtown Tucson. It has a great ambience and excellent service by the two owners who work the bar. I visited Juniper for a second visit a few weeks ago and it was a lot busier this time around, but we still had great service. We went for just a single drink after a concert and decided to try the Espresso Martini this time. Yet again another successful drink. It was delicious! We even ran into one of the owners, Elliot, and he remembered us which made us feel like he cares about his customers and wants to make sure everyone is happy.
The ambience was the only thing in my opinion that worked for me, they even had a live jazz band playing good tunes. The drinks were pricey for what you got. I ordered the blue juniper and it tasted like soda water and juice. On top of that, we started a tab and when I went to close it out they told us they couldn't find it. So I payed with another card. Somehow they found the original tab and charged us again at the end of the night. We spoke with a manager who said they would reverse it but nothing has come of it.
Gal pal (and regular) invited us and so glad we joined. Feels like a hole in the wall in the middle of downtown- it gives speakeasy with a street view. The exposed brick wall and stunning bar give it a classic feel; while the windowed front let's you watch the passersby. I haven't had gin in a few years so I eased back in with a smashed strawberry and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. Perfect balance of earthy and sweet tones. The drinks all around our table were stunning. And the live music was the perfect touch- allowed conversation but without everyone hearing everyone, but also so great to just sit back and jam to some "Tequilla" in a gin bar. Bartender was attentive without but let us have our space - which is always a plus.

*So excited to find a gin cocktail lounge here in Tucson *Cozy vibe- leather bound menus, antique and also modern feel *not a lot of seating and so if you are in a big group, I suggest coming in early. * Fabulous cocktail menu and the drinks are beautifully balanced and pretty.... I will say without hesitation that Juniper serves the best cocktails in Tucson. Maybe not even just Tucson--this is the best of the best you can find through the entirety of Southern Arizona! These drinks are innovative, thoughtful, and aesthetically pleasing in a way that leaves you excited for more and expands one's idea of a well-made libation. Inspired by a medley of global flavors, Juniper started off as a side project from a local brewery and unexpectedly exploded into a swanky hangout with zero seats left open on weekend nights. Yes, virtually everything on the menu is gin-based. But that shouldn't scare you away! Gin is essentially a neutral spirit infused with botanicals and/or citrus, so if you had a bad experience with one brand, there will be another out there you'll fall in love with. Elliott, the General Manager of the bar, elevates the passionate curation of his menu to perfection. Here are some examples of what you might fall in love with: Balzy Maracuya: A 'maracuya' is a passion fruit beverage originating from South America. In this drink, fruity flavors are enhanced with popping boba filled with balsamic vinegar. Botanist: Upscale gin and tonic with thyme, rosemary, and star anise. Cronus Punch: Rum punch lovers will be blown away by the rare sighting of clarified gin On special ocassions, you'll find limited edition items like gin sorbet affogatos and horchata martinis. At the turn of each new year, there's a menu rotation that may sadly remove some of my faves. But here, at Juniper I can guarantee two things: Something uniquely enjoyable, and a gracious staff that will be happy to explain the intricacies of lesser-known spirits on the shelf. The first time I went there their signature blue cocktail was amazing but the second time it was super sweet. I also got the Thai cocktail which I extremely warn against! It was so bitter I had to go to Icecreamery next door and get a scoop to be able to drink it! read more

Gin fan's dream, Juniper has all kinds of gin, neat and mixed. Simple but nice bar right in downtown with a big selection of all kinds of gin. Bartender was very nice and informative; she was local so she was able to tell us all about the stuff from Arizona; we got a couple of cocktails and neat (Suncliffe) to try something new. Would like to have been able to try more, but next time! She also gave us recommendations to other restaurants and bars in the area which was really nice. read more

Walked in and it was slow about 4:30. The bartender told us to sit anywhere and gave us a drink menu. She also provided with a couple of glasses and a bottle of water. You order the bar. We had the signature, Blue Juniper-- it was large delicious and as the menu suggests a great place to start for anyone new to mix gin based drinks. We also go the Black and Tam--a mix of blackberry and tamarind. This was my favorite. Both drinks were well prepared and good! We will be back! read more
I really wish I could give this bar a better review. My boyfriend and I stopped in while we were visiting from Las Vegas and thought it would be a pretty cool spot. Love trying new cocktail bars whenever we're traveling, especially if we see something that isn't common in our neck of the woods. Both of us are fans of gin so we figured this would be a good stop. My first cocktail was great. It might have just been called Juniper? I also tried a Bees Knees which wasn't bad but I was comparing it to an excellent rendition I had at a bar in Seattle and it wasn't quite to that level for me. My boyfriend was pretty pleased with his drinks as well. The main downside was the service. It was pretty inconsistent and took a while to get any bartenders attention. We had to get our second rounds of drinks from a different bartender because the first one never checked back in even as our glasses became empty. When it came time to close out apparently none of the bartenders had kept track of our bill so we had to repeat back to them everything we had ordered. The best service came from a brunette woman who I believe was a bar back, she was honestly the most attentive on staff that evening. Vibe of the place was cool, just wish the service had been better, especially given that we were sitting at the bar rather than a table. read more
I only had one cocktail and it was a Saint Patrick's Day themed cocktail (the green bee's knees) as this aesthetically pleasing bar was the second stop on a Saint Patrick's Day bar crawl that I was participating in. The drinks were served table side instead of at the bar, which was sweet. I'm a big fan of gin, so I was happy with my green-colored bee's knees. Honestly, I was already inebriated upon stumbling into this bar, so unfortunately I can't write a better description of how pleasant the atmosphere was, but it's definitely somewhere that I would sit and drink with a friend or to and just enjoy their music selection. read more

It's a very busy & cozy gin bar on Congress. There were reserved tables, which you can reserve online. So we were directed to sit "at the best table" at the window, which we thought was just for decoration. You order at the bar, the bartenders were nice. The drinks were good, with elevated flavors and there were many fun choices depending on your preference. There's no food offered here though. It's worth checking out! read more

Elliott and his crew are at the top of their game. I am so impressed with the their ability to create and develop flavors in their drinks. I'm no rookie to Gin and these young cats are schooling me! My friends and I went here and it was okay but not amazing. I ordered a Strawberry basil smash and it tasted great. Another friend enjoyed a tasty house martini. One of my friends ordered an IPA however, and they were very disappointed. It tasted like it had maple syrup in jt. If you love gin drinks then this place is amazing. If you love beer, this is not the place for you. Service was good and atmosphere is nice. read more

Hands down, this is one of the best bars I have experienced in Tucson! An awesome vibe, a beautiful interior, great music, and gin-based cocktails that are inventive and delicious. Great views of Congress (and all of the crazy that is on Congress). We were able to go before a dinner reservation, and so happy that we did. So many different gins (of course!), and the cocktail ingredients were perfect accompaniments. Go, go, go!!!! read more

Juniper is a fantastic addition to downtown Tucson. The elevated cocktails are like nothing else you will find elsewhere. Staff is friendly and fast, music is good, lighting is intimate, the space has a lot of personality. It's a gin lovers dream! But, if you don't care for gin, that's ok, they have beer, wine, and other spirits to choose from. Juniper is definitely a bar you need to add to your list! read more

Quick stop shortly after they opened, delicious taps. Not a lot to add that other 5-star reviews don't already highlight. I enjoy a darker beer selection, sours and I am not a draft list plagued with all IPAs. This place scratched my itch. BTW - Kyle was working the taps, great service. Realizing this place hit a 5, I struggle just a bit with the interior. Please consider I am being nit-picky...but the booth backs are a 90-degree angle, and the steel chairs are also not particularly comfortable. Worthy of mention, because if the seating were more comfortable, I could see me melting away in here for a couple full afternoons each month and customer stay ratios increasing. One final comment, I am not a purest and a frosted glass on a hot Tucson day can be wonderful. Lots of capacity in the refrigerator where the seltzers are stored - perhaps some glasses could be pre-staged for those who prefer this option....but I get it, kind of like asking Lamborghini to install a bigger cup holder for a Walmart mug. I went into Juniper on a Monday night with my girlfriend and her parents. It was her Dad's birthday and he loves craft cocktails. Juniper specializes in gin- based cocktails with an impressive selection of gins from all over the world but they also have a full bar if you prefer to drink something else. The bar is quite small (which I prefer) and can fill up quickly and the ambiance is mellow and comfortable. The menu is unique and offers a wide variety of dry, sweet, bitter, and sour cocktails. I tried the Corpse Reviver #2 and the Irish Vesper, both were fantastic. Our server, Remy, was amazing! He made sure to answer any questions we had and brought us samples to ensure that we were getting what we really wanted. His gin knowledge was impressive! I highly recommend giving this place a try, even if you're not a gin drinker, the bartenders will recommend something that will suit your palate. The drinks were so yummy! Lots of unique gin cocktails that are both fragrant and look beautiful! Service was quick. Not a ton of seating so keep that in mind! Will return to try others. read more
