My my my what a lovely little place this is. I absolutely love this Gin bar the drinks are perfectly balanced and crafted to all taste buds. I was extremely impressed with their menu and quality of essence they brought to the menu. The person crafting the drink menu is very knowledgeable about gin and it shows. The only reason for 4 out of 5 is the place is SO SMALL. but that is downtown for you and the price was fair. I think it's priced just right. Not a downtown price but not a rinky dink price that makes you question quality. I highly recommend coming here after dinner with friends or a place to just catch up with a SMALL Group of people like literally max 5 people. read more

Cozy little spot with unique gin cocktails which were tasty for sure but the two we tried weren't extraordinary. Service was friendly but a little distracted. Juniper is a favorite spot in town for grabbing a drink, whether solo or with friends, especially before a show at the Rialto or a night downtown. My top choice is the Blue Juniper, a refreshing mix of Juniper Gin, house prickly pear syrup, fresh lemon and lime, and juniper berries. For a less sweet option, I recommend the Jardín d'ete. It's not often you find a bar dedicated to gin, so if you prefer gin, you'd like this place. They have a large assortment of different gins. I love the botanist and their signature blue juniper drinks. It's a great spot to grab a drink before dinner or a show. It is a small bar but that's also part of the appeal to me. read more

Right in downtown Tucson and open until 11pm on weekends. Luna Blanca, a wheat beer, is kinda weak. Some Thang Sour is very boozy and eh. On the other hand, I'd recommend The Golden Shore, 9% Belgian Strong Golden Ale, and The Intoxicator which is another 9% Coffee Doppelbock. read more

Went on Tuesday night for the first time, because some of my friends were regulars here during their time in Tucson. The cocktails were delicious but I will not be returning due to the staff. Elliot, the guy who runs the bar was unfriendly and made our friend group feel uncomfortable. When I was trying to close my tab , the bartender was sarcastic and rude because I didn't hear the joke he made. This is a cool new place that has 10 iron john taps. They also have wine, coffee, kombucha and cider. While I love the setup and want to see microbreweries succeed, I am not a fan of the beer. Their flavors are a bit off. If you want a cool place to get a drink downtown, then this is your place. If you are searching for really good beer, go to a bottle shop. read more

We went to their new location at the previous Monkeyburger. Ordered 2 hamburgers and both were cooked properly. Hamburgers were good and side salad was larger than expected. Staff was very friendly and came by several times to make sure we were taken care of. I will definitely go back and perhaps try one of their pizzas. read more

What a great brewery. The bartender was very welcoming and ready to help as soon as we walked in. They have about 10 beers on tap and with so many IPA's to choose from I had to go with the flight. The flight came with five beers at four ounces each. I loaded it up with all five IPA's. Each one was delicious hoppy and unique. The flight was about $13 with tax, so not to bad for 20 ounces of delicious beer. If I lived in the area I would be a regular. read more

Only great things to say about our experience trying out the new iron John's taproom downtown. I had only been to the plumer location once, and the beers came out of the tap a little lukewarm. That problem was completely absent here, so if that was worrying anyone to you can forget about that. In addition to the classic old Pueblo pale and rye IPA, they were serving up some delicious offerings including a red, a German wheat beer, a green corn lager, and a double IPA I wasn't adventurous enough to try. I couldn't believe how flavorful the Luna Blanca was- without a doubt one of the tastiest German wheat beers I've had. But everyone knows that this place cranks out some fine beers, what really made this experience special was the man behind the bar. Gerald took care of us- slinging the beers while sharing some history about iron John's, the new location, Tucson, and even delving into his past. Huge shout-out to Gerald for providing service that had that extra oomph in it. Looking forward to returning on my next trip out to Tucson. read more

Best beer In downtown but there are conditions that are difficult to identify for all persons. This is a Sunday afternoon in Winter before Xmas. I was only person in place. Bartender was bored (obviously) but served exactly what I requested with no comment (I would want more when no one is around regardless of mindset). All beers were great, which is not what I've encountered in Arizona. My palette is East Coast IPAs but I'll try just about all but Belgian and Wheat. These guys did right by ales and IPAs and stout. First off you need cold beer and that's what you got. You can always let warm to taste. Neither Vida nor 55 had cold beer. Give me cold to determine the right temperature to enjoy the right temperature for the beer. That's always the customers job. Music was based on bartender and I have no complaints. A single bathroom, which is fine and clean but I recommend two. Can't change here. All recommend for beer all other choices for guests. I'm not a complete beer geek but I know my malts and hops. I like what these guys are doing and want to know more than what I see on their board. read more

Attractive taproom, good service, bad beer. I don't know what really to say about this place. I've been drinking craft beer for 15+ years, tried thousands of beers, visited scores of breweries across the country, reviewed hundreds of beers, written for some online publications... the beer here is just not good. Astringent finishes on the pale beers. Infected vinegary barleywine that should not be served... avoid. read more

A nice little brewery conveniently located in downtown Tucson! Lots of good beers on tap - I had the "Petey Mesquitey" and the "La Llorona" - both were unique and tasty beers. Long anticipated Iron John's storefront on Congress! A Tucson favorite can now be a regular stop during your weekend night outings! There's about 10 beers and a few wines on tap as well as a fridge full of bottled Iron John's favorites. This place does not disappoint! It's cool to see a brewery that is so well established open up a location downtown! Just a side note, they offer cold brew coffee from Crave Coffee Bar which is my favorite coffee shop in town. read more

What a great addition to downtown. Iron John's tasting room has ~35 seats comprised of small tables and a long bar. The buildout was very nice and its a very comfortable environment. They offer bottles from the cooler, and also 4oz, 10oz and 16oz pours of ~9 beers on draft. The bartenders are very friendly and they have great operating hours.I went the 1st Wednesday they were open at ~4pm and it was busy! Congrats John & John! read more

The Loverlist was really good, and the Unicorn Fluff and Old Fashioned were fine. The bartender was quick to talk up their whiskey selection, but when we asked for a recommendation, she mostly gave reasons why she couldn't recommend anything and just kept saying they had "over 90 different options." Without a whiskey menu to look through, that wasn't especially helpful. We also asked for a shooter and were offered half of a cocktail instead. That would've been totally fine on its own, but combined with everything else, the service just never felt welcoming. We ended up leaving pretty quickly. I'd give the place another shot because the atmosphere is fun and has a lot of potential, but hopefully with a different bartender behind the bar.

A nice touch that Sonora does is they have postcards that you can fill out. They will send it out for you free of charge. Drinks (4/5): Sonora has an interesting list of craft cocktails, many of them with a focus on Mexican spirits including tequila, mezcal, and sotol. I tried two cocktails and they were both good. They even have a "basura" drink that's served in a plastic bag... pretty funny! Food (4/5): Sonora's menu isn't large, but it's an interesting one. I ended up going with the queso fundido which is a Mexican cheese blend with birria. The cheese is served on a hot platter and it's stretchy. You have tortilla chips that you use to scoop up some of the cheese. While not a huge portion, it was exactly what I wanted. Traditionally, it's served plain or with chorizo. Birria here is a nice touch. Pro tip: They have a speakeasy in the basement that's open several nights a week.

Since Reilly is so large, it's not easy to find. Go through the restaurant, get on the patio, and look for a stairwell. Once you get down there, you'll see several seats at the bar and some booths. I sat at one of the booths. Service (4/5): You order at the bar. Since it was a Tuesday, I was alone for part of my visit and there with a handful of people for the rest. I had to grab the bartender's attention several times, but when I was able to get ahold of him, he was friendly and efficient. Food (N/A): I had dinner prior and I don't believe they have food anyways. You can order food at Reilly's though and bring it down yourself. Drinks (4/5): When I'm at a speakeasy, I look for a creative list of craft cocktails that have interesting flavor profiles and ingredients. Tough Luck Club has a nice menu which gives a solid description of each one. The sophistication isn't quite there but they're fun. One is Game of Thrones-themed. One is kind of like a snow cone with flavored ice on top. Fun for sure. There are a good number of speakeasies in downtown Tucson. Glad I was able to cross this one off the list!

I absolutely loved this gin bar when I visited last Saturday night! The Botanist cocktail was amazing--super smooth, full of flavor, and served in the coolest glass. I was obsessed! I wasn't crazy about the smash cocktail I ordered at first, but the bartender was so kind and suggested I try the chai dessert cocktail instead. It was delicious and totally hit the spot. The team here really knows their gin and takes the time to help you pick the perfect drink. It did get a little crowded (it was Saturday night), but the vibe was still super chill and great for an intimate hangout. I'm already planning to come back for happy hour. We managed to snag a couple of seats in a communal lounge area. I think it's the kind of place where many people come early for happy hour. It was also raining which made it impossible to sit outside, meaning the indoor seating area was pretty packed. We decided to lean into the sidecar of it all and order a classic prohibition sidecar. I don't think this was a traditional sidecar, which was surprising, but it was tasty. It's small, but it packs a punch. The bartenders here are very talented. Overall, I wish the space was a little bit bigger, but it's a great spot to grab a quick drink and enjoy some pizza from the spot next pdoor.

My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! In case beer isn't your thing, did I mention that everything is here? Yes, that's right. My first couple of times here I got distracted by the list of beers that I failed to turn the page to reveal their "secret" menu. It offers wines, meads(!), and a few cocktails. My favorite is the Boulevardier which is a whisky recipe. Pronouncing the name might give me a false impression of being pretentious but once the whiskey hits my system I won't care and I'll be ready to strike up a conversation. The space has indoor and outdoor seating and you can order from the bar in both locations. The indoor area features a cozy space with an arm chair and couch, a long community tables, several picnic tables, and a few whisky barrel table tops. The outside patio is covered and shaded during the summer and has space heaters and a fire pit during the cooler months. My favorite thing about T&B is the convenience and ability to order from Reilly's, Tucson Tamale, or Truland and have it delivered to your space while enjoying your drink.
