Arriving in a themed group, was told we needed to remove bandanas. We were willing to comply, then one of our party members has a fake face tattoo, was told then it may become an issue. The member with an actual face tattoo was told that possibly a bandaid would be needed. This was first impression. Can't say much else about the place or atmosphere. Nifty outdoor club that the folks will go wild for (sometimes too wild), but to me it's just OK. What I liked: There's a LOT of space to dance and the sound is awesome. There's a good drink selection and a lot of bartenders--I didn't have to wait that long for drinks even though it was pretty busy, and everything was more than reasonably priced given the atmosphere. What I don't really understand: Those fancy shots cosplaying molecular gastronomy are horrific. The Mexican Candy? Tasted like a glob of straight liquor (it should really have a distinct flavor) sitting atop pure chamoy. I thought it was actually really gross, but that's the signature item everyone raves about. It's not bad and I'd come back, but I also wouldn't spend more than a few minutes waiting in line for it. read more

This place is always a good time! They have some Of the most iconic spoon shots in Tucson that are so smooth and delicious! I recently learned they offer a food menu too which had many tasty items! I loved the steak and arugula sliders and fries. The music and vibe are always on point and staff is helpful and friendly! Highwire is a bit tucked away compared to other businesses close by. My wife and I stopped to have a drink on Friday around 8 pm and came back the following Sunday with our son and my mom for brunch. I liked that they played live music during our time on Friday. We also enjoyed our brunch. We had the chicken and waffles, avocado toast, and the rum banana brulee. I recommend placing a garnish or decorating the plate with some sauce (notice the picture). I loved the rum banana brulee, and the chicken and waffles were a hit! I think there is a lot of potential for Highwire, and with some slight adjustments could make for a more inviting and engaging experience for the customers. When one walks into Highwire for the first time, there are multiple openings. I wasn't sure which way to go and some bald employed grunts "this is closed" it looked open to me as others were sitting around (perhaps they were staff). Instead of that experience, have a host in the open outside area welcome people. The same goes for brunch. Our waitress was friendly, but it seemed the music playing was more for them than for the other table, who were also middle-aged adults who also would likely prefer to listen to something other than loud rap music on Sunday morning. Just a guess. Some more pleasantries, decorum, and beautification of the patio would go a long way to take Highwire to the next level. My husband and I are in our 40s, and after Christmas party with colleagues, on a Friday night, found ourselves at Highwire Tucson bar and lounge. What a fun place and amazing atmosphere! We don't typically drink a lot, but Mexican candy shots and Margaritas were incredible, and before we knew it, each of us had like, 5. Next morning-no headache, no issues, no hangover, only fun memories of dancing and having a great time! HIGHLY recommend, seems like people at any age can still have fun at a place like this, it has indoor and outdoor areas, plenty of space, and upbeat music. Me and my partner came in tonight. I have cerebral palsy, and I was walking in sitting down with my partner. They asked for our ID (March 18, 2025) at between 10:00 pm. Then proceed to tell us that they can't serve us because I was stumbling basically saying I already too much to drink and I tried explaining that I have CP and I had surgeries, I also told them to look at my ankle that I have ankle brace on. Wow. Just wow. I had literally the most amazing time last night. First and foremost - major shout out to John (I think that's his name; it was loud). He seriously made our night and honestly last night is in the top 5 of my best nights out ever. The music is SO GOOD. Back to back hits from 90s/2000s/now alllll night long, I was literally singing and dancing the entire time (we got in a little before 11 PM and stayed until close!!) The drinks are bomb and well priced and the bartenders at all 3 bars inside are super friendly and accommodating. Even the security staff members were nice! I can't rave about this place enough. Highwire serves food now! I finally got to check out the food since the remodel and I have to say I was pretty satisfied with my experience. Some friends and I had some food and drinks at the bar on a Sunday Funday that was much needed. Our waitress name was Brandy and she was amazing I have to say. Ordered the chicken and waffles and tried the mushroom bruschetta which was absolutely to die for! Also had a nice drink that the bartender Silvia made called the PB&jealousy. You'd think the bartenders would be super annoyed every time a group orders 5 or 6 or these, but they set them up super quickly, which impressed me. Last week I also came across the Agua Fresca drink and I will be going back to have this refreshing drink all warm weather days!!!! Loved this place forever but their brunch and afterwork menu are killing it!! They have these vegetarian options that are the bees knees, their tacos are amazing and the sliders... chef's kiss. Love the new space, so big... and warm during the cold spells, it gets super packed at night and you might have to wait in a Thursday-Saturday night line but their staff at entry are sweet, and I love that they're scanning on the way in.. with the cray cray in downtown lately, I feel safer this way. Update 1- I'm really encouraged by the response I got from the owner after posting my initial review. They have added a bathroom attendant to keep the place nice and sparkly. I'm looking forward to going back and I will update my score again-- for now, just the professional response I received prompts me to bump up a star in advance! Hoping to jump up more stars once I get back in there for another go! Original post- I wanted to like this bar. I was excited when it opened and helped bring life to its little alley. Five times, I've gone and the following have been consistent: 1. Bartenders are unfriendly. I always approach with a smile, but I'm always met with a frown, as if I'm inconveniencing them with my order. I understand the pressure of bartender, but I've never had trouble smiling at my patrons or acknowledging them with brief eye contact during their order. Here-- consistently, the bartenders are almost defiantly unfriendly. As a girl, I understand sometimes it's easier to be stone faced so that patrons don't mistake friendliness for flirtation. But I've never ordered a drink there and felt it was a positive experience. 2. The outdoor bathrooms are filthy and never have soap and usually only one or two stalls have toilet paper. I seriously hope the staff have their own private bathroom, because in all my visits, there has never once been soap in the bathroom. Not once in my 5 visits. Since they are unisex bathrooms, there's also the delightful adventure of dodging pee puddles on the floor from very sober and clean people who forget to aim. There aren't hooks in all stalls to hold bags, so it's interesting to hold your bag, tiptoe hop to the toilet, and pray that nothing touches the pee soaked floor. Photo included for your pleasure. From Sat, Aug 25th @11:24 pm. (I shutter to imagine what it looked like upon close.) and don't forget the fun fact that there is never soap. Wish I had taken a picture of the defeated SoftSoap bottle that had been decapitated, used up, and left thrown on the counter by about 10PM. Mind you, my first trip to the restroom was around 10 (no soap then) and my second trip when I took that picture was around 11:30. Still no soap. No one could wash their hands that entire time. Or probably the whole rest of the night. The drinks aren't particularly well made. I've given two stars because one time they had a great DJ outside and it made me happy. Note: they used to have an attendant for a few hours working there passing out paper towels, but in exchange for passing you a paper towel, they expected a tip. Normally I wouldn't mind, but for such a dumpy bathroom, with no soawith pee on the floor, down a Tucson alley, that is comical to me. read more

Restroom management is horrible and the line is reminiscent of getting into Yosemite on a summer's day. Abysmal. 2. Security takes a photo of you on their phone along with the standard ID checks. What happens to such data? I have no idea either, there is no posted statement as to what happens with this data. 3. DJ kept switching songs middle of the song. WTF? It's always great to welcome another cocktail hot spot to the local scene. The location rocks- the patio is huge and it'll be extra awesome as soon as The Independent Distillery and Johnny Gibson Market open up. The interior seems unfinished... But perhaps that's the theme? I didn't quite catch the the vintage circus theme, but maybe that's still In the works. We say outside and enjoyed the expansive patio. Kudos for having servers lit in the patio! Otherwise it could get really packed inside. I took Rich Ys yelp advice and tried out the El Bulli prickly pear tequila cocktail served with tequila bubbles! Pretty much like big boba made out of tequila. Certainly an interesting concoction. I think I might have enjoyed it more if the bubbles were served cold. But awesome none the less! I think this is a really chill, fun, different little hang out. 2 indoor hang outs, one big out door hang out where you can sit by a fire when its cold outside. They have very fun and different types of shots and drinks. Everything is really reasonably priced. You absolutely need to try a "Pear Shot" its an experience like I have never had. Yay for a new swanky spot downtown to grab drinks with a medley of draft beers ($4-6), cocktails (~$10), and wines. The outdoor patio has a great vibe underneath the Italian string lights, kept cool under the summer heat by a large fan. Extra points from me for being dog-friendly!
