I was staying at the Hilton across the street and came in for a nightcap. Enjoyed my visit there a lot. Service was great as well as the drinks. Nice selection of spirits. Laid back place, fun to unwind here.

A fantastic spot for excellent cocktails and attentive service. Perfect for a date or hanging out with friends.

What a unique experience! I've been to a lot of creative and funky bars but, Unicorn Zebra is perhaps my favorite! Not only is it quirky, hip and original with a retro-mid century animal-safari theme, the service and drinks we had were outstanding! Plus, it's locally owned. The prices are comparable to what you'd pay for big city cocktails but, they are totally worth it. I tried the Zebra's G&T and it was in a huge glass, tasting floral, herbaceous and delicious! I was jealous of our friend's drink, the "XX me under the Zebra skull" because the glass was so much fun, a Zebra head! The atmosphere transports you to an exotic location, making it feel like you're on vacation in a far away place. The main bar has windows in the floor viewing the rental space below, which is immediately eye catching and jaw dropping! Unicorn Zebra is also a boutique hotel with beautifully designed rooms, priced at similar higher end spots in town. My husband, friends, and I have already decided on coming back for a group happy hour! I highly recommend this creative local spot.

One fateful night in Tucson, we stumbled upon the Unicorn Zebra. We had never heard of this place but were curious so we went in. We were greeted by a giant statue of a unicorn zebra and of course took a selfie. We then went to the bar area and absolutely loved the dark speakeasy vibes. Burk, the handsome man with a shiny head, was at the bar. He handed us a drink menu that contained fun drink names like Death of a Unicorn. The drinks tasted good and had a lovely presentation. Mine even came in a zebra mug. We also learned that this bar has both an upstairs and downstairs area. We enjoyed a couple of drinks and headed home. This place left such an impression that we have been back two times since. On another occasion we had Nate the bartender. He had a lovely personality and accommodated all of the guests that came in near closing. We enjoyed Santa's Banana Hammock and Unicorn Ski Accident. I would definitely recommend this hidden gem. I look forward to seeing where this place goes. It has a ton of potential for special events with the basement area. P.s. It's also a boutique hotel. You could always book a room and enjoy dreams downstairs without having to drive

Wonderful ambiance and lot of wines and cocktails to choose from!! we came on a very busy night and had to wait a bit for drinks. I'd love to come back another night and take advantage of the ambience upstairs.

We attended their Ugly Christmas Sweater Party last Saturday and had a fantastic time. I absolutely love the concept of themed events like this at a bar--it creates such a fun atmosphere and makes it easier to meet new people. As for the cocktails, the Unicorn Fluff had a slight bitterness but was still okay. The Flaming Horn started sour and ended bitter, while the Emerald Elixir and Gleeful Grinch were both sour but just average overall. While I'm not completely sold on their cocktails, the vibe and the holiday party definitely made it a memorable night!

Hidden "speak easy" style bar in downtown Tucson! Very small and intimate. When we went everyone was sitting at the bar but there are tables available for larger groups. Bartenders/barbacks were friendly, we were told they were remodeling the upstairs (previous) hotel into air b and bs. What a fun concept to stay in an air b and b and have the convenience of mixologists down below.

Amazing cocktails and a chill vibe, the space is cozy but lovely and the service was great.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. Easily in my top 3 for cocktail bars in Tucson. We went to a few bars before having dinner at Charro Steak and this place has been on my list since they opened. We came on a Saturday around when they opened, and there was only one other couple at the bar. Super cute decor and ambience. Love all the plants here. The bartender was fantastic. They have a really cute upstairs lounge area too. We decided to sit at the bar, but will definitely be back and spend some time up there. My husband opted for the Viper and I for the Dirty Zebra. Loved both of them.

What a great addition to the downtown Tucson scene. Stopped in on the way back from the Tucson Meet Yourself festival. What a cozy space to enjoy a craft cocktail. Although he said he's not a huge fan of the word mixologist, Max, the genius behind the bar is far more than just a bartender. If you tell him your preferences, he'll create a drink you're sure to love using their premium spirits and infusions. The space itself is warm and welcoming with lots of windows that look out to the street and make for great people watching. There's even an upstairs area if you want a more private space for a conversation. There are some light snack type of food options such as cheese, olives and cured meats that are a staple in South Africa, which is where the owner is from and plays prominently in the theme and decor.

Nice bar downtown near the convention center with a great vibe and tasty beverages. The bartender was friendly and helpful even when it was a little busy. Plenty of space to sit on the 1st or second floor and didn't get loud with I was there. On my second visit, the bartender even remembered my drink of choice :-)

Fun new South African themed cocktail bar! Beautiful setting and decor, great service, unusual but yummy drinks, and tasty snacks. We had 2 drinks each and shared a cheese and cracker tray. Would highly recommend if you are heading downtown, to the TCC or the Ronstadt Music Hall (walkable to/from all).

I enjoy some challenging textures and flavors for the sake of experiences. What I tried over 2.5 hours: -Nixtamalized Barrel cactus fruit aged in ash with chiltepin jam and chiltepin leaves preserved in vinegar. I liked it- sweet and smokey. The barrel fruit was a tad fibrous. -Refried tepary beans with wolfberry and a green powder of globe mellow salsa verde. The powder was tart and yummy. The tepary beans tasted fairly simple. The dried cactus was nice- reminded me of kale chips. The tortillas of my friend's omni menu were very soft and pliable. -Yakitori: Barrel cactus fruit with candied Tohono O'odham Ha:l Squash, mesquite tare and marinated cholla buds reduction from last year's cholla, topped with jojoba seeds. This was a fave. -Maitake with corn rib and desert botanical bonchons. I thought the name might have referred to Banchan, the small Korean side plates of kimchi etc since there was kimchi in one of the bites on the plate but it was spelled Bonchon, "my hometown" in Korean. The heirloom corn vegemite bite was umami as expected. The snail shaped amaranth leaves white kimchi bite was tart, bold and delicious. The corn rib bite was topped with pickled yucca bud pieces on top- I loved getting to try that and loved the flavor and texture of it. A sunflower head "brisket" bite was really interesting and I enjoyed the brisket flavoring that was achieved here. The texture felt fitting for it too and it seemed clever. Likely a challenging bite for some with the flower flavors and texture in the end. The amaranth dumpling bite was filled with something else made from amaranth I didn't catch. The last bite of this plate was the Maitake mushroom with palo verde- delish. -Raw Nopal with preserved amaranth pico de gallo with agave pulque -blackened agave frozen granita with pico de gallo and pressed coriander ironwood emulsion. Vinegary and refreshing- Big hit. -Kaiseki: cactus bud, three sisters stew, cowpea and ironwood blossom. We were also given a complimentary Non- Alcoholic beverage with it: a chilled palo verde Pu-erh fermented tea. It had a light fizzy feel. LOVED the drink and it balanced the saltiness of the stew. The broth that the waiter added to the stew at the table was overly salted but the stew was good and was more filling than the other dishes so far. I liked the meaty texture of the ironwood flower. This course came with a tostada topped with refried tepary beans and prickly pear tunas and with young cactus in salt bush emulsion. -Wolfberry sorbet- served beautifully. Very sweet and single note. The waiter said the wolfberries on top were pickled and I wish I tasted pickled flavor because it would have provided balance. I tried my companions roasted Huuñ Ga'i sherbet with kombucha soaked corn and preserved amaranth flowers and enjoyed it more than the wolfberry sorbet. -Wildflowers-Cactus sorbet with frosted amaranth leaves and cactus marmalade. I would have enjoyed it more if it didn't come right after the overly sweet wolfberry sorbet. It was more balanced but I really was sweetened-out. It had some medicinal notes but was interesting. I liked the cactus marmalade pieces. I like the leaves that were super crispy but some were heavily frosted with sugar. I LOVED my companion's Wildflowers dessert. It was a warm miso cake with mesquite, brittlebush curd and cactus marmalade. The mesquite really came through here wonderfully. -Pimachata: Candied squash and aerated squash. Was craving something savory now but luckily this one was less sweet and more balanced. My companion seemed to enjoy her goat cheese ice cream. With the check, came two sticks with mesquite gummies.I love mesquite but this again was a tad too sweet now. The least positive part for me was the service. I was surprised that a place with a focus of introducing people to food of the desert they might not know about would not have the servers engage when someone seems very interested, like me. No written menu/ description was given during the meal and I tried my best to write down notes as the waiter was listing the descriptions extremely quickly in a rehearsed way without engaging with us and without slowing down much when asked. I asked for an extra note card and he gave me a blank receipt. The most confusing part was that they ended up bringing us a printed menu with the dishes listed when we finished the full meal. We were so flabbergasted as to why he wouldn't mention it was coming when I was writing notes or even better provided it at the start. It felt that the servers were very focused on doing a rehearsed part instead of engaging meaningfully. I was very happy with my pay-what- you-wish experience and I experienced all of this like art viewing. So cool getting to try so many local desert plants!

We came during May, when it starts to get warm, but he did well since there is a good amount of shade out on their patio and they provided a nice big water bowl for our special boy. The staff also were kind enough to move one of our chairs out of the way so our dog had lots of room to lay down. Staff were all very kind and never seemed annoyed with the dog (you can always tell at a restaurant if they are, and they were very happy to accommodate him). Very dog friendly!! The food: We gotta talk about their French onion soup. It was pretty dang delicious! The broth itself is quite nice, a nice cheese portion, and the baguette was divine. I also had their French Connection sandwich (with a side of fries), and it had a great combo of ooey, gooey cheese, firm and flavorful ham, and served on a really delicious loaf. Really solid fries, too. We didn't end up getting any drinks but saw several people ordering yummy looking bites. If (but likely when) we come back to Tucson, I'm making a point to return to Cup Cafe!

The soup was a bit spicy from the chili oil but it was so good! It also doesn't come with its original variety of banana leaves on the side but they do give you some veggies and sauces (meant for pho) along with your dish. One thing I might add is, it is a very, VERY big bowl of soup/noodles. I really wish they had a bigger spoon because it felt like it took me forever to eat; I usually love to do a spoon full of noodles, soup, and a bit of the meat in every bite, but with the spoon here, it was quite an impossible feat. I asked for a different spoon, but it was just as small. I did end up taking most of it home to finish. My server was very nice! And was quite attentive.
