Bier Garden Tucson was outstanding! Everything tasted fresh and clearly homemade. The beer brat sandwich was my favorite. The brat, made with dark beer, was incredibly flavorful, and the caramelized onions were the perfect topping. The bread was soft and fresh, and I'd definitely recommend adding mustard--it takes the sandwich to the next level. The chicken Jägerschnitzel was delicious, with a perfectly crispy coating while staying tender and juicy inside. It was cooked just right. The German potato salad had a wonderful tangy flavor with a great balance of pickle and mustard. It was unique, fresh, and complemented the meal perfectly. To finish, we had the Black Forest cake, and it was amazing. The chocolate cake was soft and moist, with cherry juice throughout. The cherries were plump, juicy, and burst with flavor in every bite--they weren't dry at all. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed throughout our meal. One tip: make a reservation if you plan to dine here. The restaurant is very popular, and without a reservation, you'll likely need to sit outside or hope a seat is available at the bar. Fri. 7/3/26 We had looked forward with eager anticipation to the opening of Biergarten & made a lunch reservation a couple of weeks later. Naturally we perused the menu on their website to know what we wanted to order. The first thing I noticed was that there were no prices listed. I probably should have checked on Yelp first to see if any patrons included pics of the menu (they did) though regardless, we had made our choices. We arrived on time, were promptly seated. The staff were friendly, efficient & the wait time for food was about 40 min from order to table which was reasonable. I was taken back a bit by 'sticker shock' at some of the prices; for example, the 'sampler plate' was $63, even though it was meant for sharing. Not being Elon Musk, I found that a tad overpriced, as was for me, the Rouladen $40 and $8 for a side of red cabbage. Seriously. $8? This would have been a moot point if the food lived up to the hype & price, but alas! I ordered the Rouladen (stuffed beef rolls) thin braised beef wrapped around a combo of bacon, mustard, onions & pickles, then smothered in a brown gravy accompanied by two bread dumplings & red cabbage. The golf ball sized pair of dumplings were in a word, stodgy. Dense, thickly gooey & chewy with little discernible seasoning to uplift it from the bland, boiled dough texture it presented. The red cabbage was....eh. As for the main item, the beef, bacon, onions were overpowered by the dominant taste of pickle, so the rolls as a whole, couldn't be appreciated plus the gravy did nothing to compensate or impress. This was not a WOW meal. My wife got the small German meatball which included potato salad $24 with a side of red cabbage $32 total. She found the potato salad to be mushy (looking like mashed potatoes), not anything like her grandmother made for her as a child. She recalls it was chunky with onion and hard boiled egg. If these were included in the restaurant dish, she could not taste it. In addition, both the potato salad and the red cabbage lacked a good portion of vinegar. We decided to share a desert & opted for the apple strudel, because the Beesting cake which we wanted, was unavailable. Not being a strudel aficionado I defer to my wife's opinion, which was that the piece was overheated with less than flaky dough. Nothing to rave about. For $11 a slice, one should be able to discern a fresh home made pastry from say, a box of Entenmann's. So, for a lunch for two, with no beer or wine & one shared desert, the bill came, with tax & tip. To just over $100. Bottom line: too high a price for unmemorable fare. read more

I think it's important to note at the start here, this is a new spot, and there are ALWAYS kinks with openings. I got a seat at the bar maybe 5-10 minutes after they opened on a Sunday, and the place was already packed with being fully booked for the day, an amazing thing to see for a new spot. I got a beer and the appetizer platter. The vibe was nice, Germany music was trying to play over the speaker but it was spotting after almost each song, making me wonder if maybe they had a new system they weren't entirely sure how to run yet. The staff was super friendly, checking in on me often and running around starve everyone. It did look like the way the staff was communication with each other that there were bidet roles for the staff that was leading stone confusion. I got my food after a short enough wait where I didn't notice much time going by. Everything on the platter was great. This is somewhere I can see myself stoping in after work for a beer and a snack often. The only thing that really stuck out to me as a negative was the entree prices. And look I understand food prices are constantly increasing and you pay for what you get, I spent a long time managing food costs for restaurants, but even from making food from scratch the costs feel rather high. My daughter, husband and I have been awaiting the opening of this establishment. We were not able to get a reservation, but went anyway, knowing that we would have to wait. The hostess was friendly and accommodating. Our 1 hour wait time turned into 10 minutes! This establishment is clean, welcoming, and had an overall friendly feel. Service was fast, friendly, and we even got a bit of history on the bringing of this establishment to Tucson. Our food was, in a word...delicious! My husband's Goulosh was lukewarm. They replaced it with a new serving, and gave us free dessert for the inconvenience. My daughter, who is a Chef, stated that the flavors danced across her palate like a beautiful symphony! This place is excellent despite the opening bugs to work out. Tucson is fortunate to have this restaurant. Shame on City of Tucson for not helping small businesses thrive. A German family sold their home in Germany to open a restaurant in Tucson. They ran into a TON of red tape. It's like the city wanted to kill small business and folks who drove value into the city's economy and culture. I've been in contact with the business for about a year waiting for them to open. The service needs to find its rhythm, but the folks are super gracious. I had the brat plate and it was excellent. I'm glad Tucson showed up and bought all the food they had prepared in a day. SO busy! Make sure to have a reservation. Since this is a new restaurant, everyone is excited. The hostess informed us they have reservations for the next 4 days. We came on opening day. We made a reservation in advance but still had to wait to be seated. There's no exact waiting area, we stood hovering around the door and tables. When we were sat, our waiter was friendly and had told us that the kitchen "worked out its kinks" this morning. We received our first beers in a decent amount of time but our food took over an hour and we had to ask our server for an update. The XXL pretzel and the beer-bratwurst sandwich was good. We probably had the wurst table because we were close to the front door and had a wall of waiting butts around us. Normally I wouldn't complain but I think we were often overlooked. For opening day, there was live music and cotton candy was being hand out! I loved that. There was also an aperol spritz brand merch party thing happening. The samples seemed to just be little cup tastes of just that but not a mix of prosecco or soda water. It was a little strange of a taster. But I did like the cute free fan! Overall, opening day was a little too chaotic. I'd wait a couple weeks or a month to come back. I like this new German restaurant & bar! I hope they're able to seat guests at their reservation time and serve drink/food in better time. I recommend an enforced experience time slot of how long a groups dining experience should be considering the popularity. Some restaurants practice this such as ones in Phoenix. I visited Biergarten in Tucson on 6/19 after making a reservation a few days earlier. Before our visit, I spoke with Leah on the phone, and she was an absolute dream, kind, helpful, and welcoming. Her customer service left a great first impression and made us excited to visit. There are several German food lovers in my household, so we were looking forward to trying Biergarten. Despite arriving to find a completely full parking lot and a line out the door, we were seated immediately thanks to our reservation, which was very impressive. Our server came over promptly, took our drink orders, and returned with them quickly. We started with the XXL Pretzel ($12.99), which arrived fast and was served with a ramekin of cheese and another of mustard. The pretzel tasted exactly as expected, warm, soft, and enjoyable. I wasn't brave enough to try either dipping sauce, but the pretzel itself was good. My mom ordered the Schnitzel ($16.99), my son ordered the Sausage Plate ($32.99), and I originally planned to order the Rouladen Stuffed Beef Rolls ($34.99). Unfortunately, I was informed that the Rouladen wasn't available, nor was the Sauerbraten (Sour Roast), along with several beers. I wish we had been informed of these unavailable items when we first sat down, as it would have given me more time to review the menu and choose an alternative. Instead, I quickly settled on the Biergarten Burger ($22.99). There was also some confusion regarding the menu. The printed menu we were handed clearly stated that French fries were included with meals Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. When I asked about substituting the fries, I was told the promotion had ended the previous week. I pointed out that the promotion was still printed on the menu sitting in front of me. It took a little over an hour for our food to arrive. Honestly, this didn't bother us much because the restaurant had just opened and was obviously extremely busy. We understood there would be some growing pains and were willing to be patient. What did disappoint me was the presentation and value of some of the dishes given the prices. The Sausage Plate included three different sausages, mashed potatoes, gravy, and sauerkraut. My son enjoyed one of the sausages but wasn't a fan of the other two. The Schnitzel was served by itself, accompanied only by a small bowl of red onions and cucumber salad. My Biergarten Burger and the cucumber salad ($7.99) were both good, but at nearly $31 combined, I'd hesitate to order them again. To make matters worse, we were told we had to order fries separately for $7.99. We did so, but when our to go boxes were brought out after we paid, the fries still weren't ready. We ended up waiting about another 10 minutes for them before taking everything to go. In the end, our bill came to just over $105 for one appetizer, three lunches, one with a side and one without, and two soft drinks. That's a very expensive lunch, especially considering some menu items were unavailable and portions felt underwhelming for the price. I also noticed that the online menu doesn't list prices, which makes it difficult for customers to know what to expect before visiting. Overall, Biergarten has some positives. Leah was wonderful, our reservation experience was smooth, seating was immediate despite the crowds, and the service itself was friendly and prompt. However, menu availability, outdated printed menu information, pricing, and perceived value left us with mixed feelings. I understand they're newly opened and dealing with heavy demand, so I'm willing to give them some grace. Hopefully, as they settle into operations, some of these issues will improve. read more

My excitement for this restaurant to open has been big. My husband made reservations the moment they opened for reservations and we got 6pm Saturday night; day two after their opening date June 5th 2026. I was aware they ran out of food the opening day, since the owner Andre has posted updates on social media asking customers to be patient. We arrived early for our 6 o'clock reservation and had a hard time even checking in since a lot of people with no reservations were blocking the entrance and standing outside just waiting to check on wait times. I know somebody who is working behind the bar and so we checked in and waited by the bar and absorbed the atmosphere. There was live music and a lot of customers. When we were seated, we were at table for 4 and told the hostess that we were happy to have any other party of two sit with us because there were so many people who were walking ins getting told outside only available. There's inside seating with air-conditioning where and live music and there's an outside patio area that has a canvas covering. Walk-ins could be in the outside beer garden area without reservations when I arrived. It took a while for us to get water, and to get our order placed. Our food came out quickly. My husband got the pork schnitzel because they were out of quite a number of dishes by 6 o'clock, and so no chicken schnitzel was left. We ordered pretzel bites, which were fun and freshly made. I got the Rouladen which is a beef rollup/ stuffed with pickles and bacon with a tomato sauce on top served with breadballs; sauté stuffing balls. My food was excellent. I was fully aware before coming that it was going to be very busy and unlikely to have the full menu available, but I was really happy with what I ordered and I liked my food. They had a Jagermeister orange cocktail/spritzer that was refreshing. We sat with another couple who shared the beer garden platter, which had a little bit of everything, and they ordered the extra large pretzel that came with the special dipping sauce as we were just finishing our food and ordered the only dessert left. There was an announcement that there was no more food; they'd completely sold out of everything except for pretzels at 8pm. This was a first for me, to be at a restaurant that announces they're out of food. This morning I learned they sold out of certain varieties of beer also. Wow! As I was leaving I briefly chatted with another Tucson YELP community member, who sadly wasn't able to order any entrees. I'm not a beer drinker and yet every 30 minutes or so the musician was getting the crowd cheering together lifting their glasses. I would love to come back and try their other things soon. I think I'll sit at the bar, and enjoy the frenzy. I loved my food, and the chaos. Made a reservation for 5pm on 6/28. Our table was ready when we got there. We viewed the menu online before arriving so we knew what we wanted prior to being seated. One of the owners took our order she was so sweet. At 5:08pm our food was brought out and was delicious! I had the schnitzel it was a solid 11/10. My husband had the wurstplatte he gave 10/10. The XXL pretzel is a must! While we didn't finish it we did take the rest of it to go. The homemade sauces with it are amazing! Seating is what I would consider a family style seating no different than other German restaurants we have been to. Biergarten is now on our rotation of date night places we will go to. We've been waiting to try the new Biergarten since it opened. Made a reservation last week for Sunday lunch. We arrived and checked in at the hostess desk. We were told there was some glitch with scheduling and our table was not available but they could seat us outside. It was hot and I knew I wouldn't last long being out in the heat even though they had misters going. I saw some spots at the bar and asked if we could sit there, they said that was fine. We were a bit bummed we didn't get our table but it actually worked out well being at the bar. The inside is super cute with lots of greenery and pictures from around Germany. Our server was very friendly as were all the other staff we encountered. We had multiple opportunities to chat with the owner about Germany and her food. We probably wouldn't have done this if we sat at the table. It was tough deciding what to get. We ended up getting the appetizer combo and two different schnitzels. We loved the onion cheese twisters the most. The pretzel was also very good. The potato pancakes were good too but we enjoyed the other items on the combo more. The chicken in the Zigeuner schnitzel was so crispy. The sauce was also delicious. The fries were good and crispy especially dipped in a side of curry sauce. I had had Jager Schnitzel before in Germany, which I loved so they had a high bar to meet. The bar was meet and more! The pork was cooked perfectly and crispy and the sauce had wonderful flavor. The spatzle was wonderful as well. We were sad they didn't have the black forest cake (hopefully next time), but the cheery strudel was delicious. Everyone is quite friendly and they have a good system in place to get people in and orders taken. They have about 10 tables inside and about 10 outside with misters. After waiting over an hour for our order we were told everything is handmade and they are working on it. The entire bar area around us was served and finished eating. And we waited! Someone else came in and they said it would be over an hour for the food to be delivered. Another couple came in and got their order in ten minutes which was just what we ordered. The chef then came out and asked what we ordered. That being said, I would not bring young children. When the food finally came out, it was fantastic. We were there on their second Sunday open. Had a 3:00 reservation and were seated promptly. They were out of several items, we were able to sample their two German Hefeweizens. Both were refreshing. Husband had the traditional brut wurst which was served with potatoes and onions. The brat was delicious as were the potatoes! I had the jagersnitzel which was also very good. A little mix up actually got us pretzels before we could order which helped. All in all we were ther an hour. I loved the red cabbage! It didn't have an overwhelming vinegar flavor! And my German beer came in a fabulous thick, heavy stein!! Our waiter was so nice, and had lived in Germany. My daughter and I visited Biergarten in Tucson for lunch on June 20, 2026 and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. We arrived shortly after opening at approximately 11:20 a.m. and immediately encountered several issues. 1. We were seated without menus because none were available. 2. Our waiter took our order and served drinks before informing us that the kitchen was significantly backed up. 3. We were told about the delay only after ordering, and were encouraged to purchase additional appetizers because those could be prepared more quickly. 4. Our food did not arrive until 1 hour and 5 minutes after ordering. 5. At approximately 35 minutes and again at 50 minutes after ordering, we were assured our food would arrive "momentarily," which ultimately proved inaccurate. 6. The pretzel appetizer was served refrigerator cold, and we overheard another table raising the same concern. 7. Our order was delivered incorrectly, and we only realized the mistake after we had started eating. 8. When I attempted to provide feedback respectfully and factually, it felt as though my concerns were dismissed rather than heard. I understand that restaurants have busy days and staffing challenges. Long wait times can happen. However, the larger issue was the lack of transparent communication and the apparent mismatch between seating capacity and kitchen capacity. Expanding seating when the kitchen is already unable to keep up only compounds the problem. What was most disappointing was that, despite acknowledging the poor experience, no effort was made to recover the service failure through any gesture of goodwill or management intervention. The food is delicious! Definitely tastes homemade. We got the XXL sampler plate so we could try a variety of items and everything was good. Beers are huge. The restaurant is very popular and crowded. It is recommended to call ahead for a reservation. We were lucky to get a table outside but it was quite hot. Will be back and will make a reservation next time. read more

From the moment our group of six walked through the door I started smiling and was still smiling when we left. The ambience was authentic German Biergarten, the staff was warm friendly and vundebar, and the food was delicious!!! We tried beer, wine, mixed drinks, food platters with the most yummy sauerkraut, pretzel with mustard, and ALL the desserts which were so, so fantastic. We finally made it to the Biergarten...NEVER AGAIN!!!! The potato pancakes were just a plate of hash browns...not crispy completely tasteless and a tad greasy! NOT POTATO PANCAKES...hash browns. The beer brat sandwich was tasteless and the bun was stale. We originally were going to have dessert afterward but the food was so disappointing we changed our minds. All the plates coming out were grey...absolutely no color...just grey. The music was awful and loud the acoustics are terrible. Outrageous pricing! Huge disappointment. The beautiful menu presented online was not available on 6/13 at 6:30pm. Instead they provide you with a Menu of the Day which has extremely limited menu items. Also there were no side dishes available except for French fries (they ran out of spatzle). The schnitzel sandwich was dry and tasteless. The bun was horrible. No gravy was available to help redeem the schnitzel either. My boyfriend ordered the Curry Wurst and it definitely was the worst. He couldn't even finish it and he usually eats everything. We got a piece of German cake for desert and although it looked nice, it was super dry and burnt on the bottom. It would be extremely difficult to try this place again, but I really hope they can turn things around with the food quality because the restaurant has a nice vibe. read more

Great Presentation, Made from Scratch, Superior Quality (Bio Pork for delicious Schnitzel), Amazing Crew & Owners, TUCSON's first in-town German Restaurant in the 19 years I lived here. Warning, this restaurant has been hot, hot, hot, since it's opening. And as they don't use frozen outside products, at some time they may run out of this or that. The great: terrific beer selection and the dry riesling was also very good. Friendly owners and good staff. Pretzel and obatzda were spot on. While others have had different opinions on the potato salad, I thought it excellent. Not all German potato salads are the warm sort -- this was great with the pickle and vinegar to give it a bite. The fairly good: While the Nurnberger brat was indeed not an authentic Nurnberger brat, it was an excellent sausage. unlike some experiences, we did not have any problems with seating or long waits on the mains beyond what one expects for food cooked to order. Needs improvement: the schnitzel was a bit too thick and the coating not crispy enough. The mashed potatos that came with the sausage were too finely mashed and so had a pasty texture that I dislike. We will be back and expect more of the kinks of a newly opened place to be ironed out over time. read more
