This was my first time here and let me say I truly enjoyed the restaurant. The waitress I had was so sweet and attentive, she also told us about the history of the restaurant. This is a wonderful family business and look forward to returning. The food was amazing as well as the wine that I tried. The eggplant with rigatoni was amazing. The pasta was cooked well and the sauce was filled with amazing tastes. The egg plant had an amazing consistency and the vegetable sauce was packed with different notes of herbs and spices. 8/10 The hamburger torino was tasty and cooked nicely, not dry. The honey balsamic barbecue sauce was an amazing sauce to add to the burger. 4.5/10 burger I'm not sure of the name of the Toscana wine that I tried, it was the 3rd or 4th option down the list of red wines. This wine had earthy notes and was not too sweet. This wine was recommended by the waitress and it did not disappoint. 7/10 Overall I truly enjoyed my visit to this restaurant and will be recommending this to my friends and family! read more

Caffe Torino is excellent! My wife and I have dined in the restaurant several times but it's been several months since and we recently got a carryout order that was equally outstanding. I usually get the chicken piccata because it's such an excellent preparation, with delicious sauce and perfectly tender chicken and really an excellent piccata preparation, but this time I went with the chicken Taleggio and don't regret it a bit. This one has mushrooms and cheese, but not like a marsala. It's its own dish and an excellent one. Got plenty of pasta as well so the portion size on carryout is nothing to sneeze at - I really like that. My wife got the rigatoni alla panna, rich and delicious, but not too heavy. Another winner. When you die in the restaurant, you also get excellent bread and outstanding service. My carryout service experience was very good as our dining service experiences. Daniela is warm and welcoming, and I don't know the bartender's name, but she was really excellent handling my carryout order. Even the salad is delicious. I can't get over the dressing. The floor was dirty. My shoes stuck to it. Our coffee had grounds in it. My linguini was tough and chewy. There was a pool of olive oil on my plate surrounding my food. We had to ask for silverware, after the server took a while to find us, when he was bringing our main courses. They paid way more attention to the people at the bar. Too bad we didn't drink. Absolutely nothing tasted fresh and for the price, it's rather unconscionable. service was ok - but a little slow. 10 min for any service after seating, 20 more minutes for drinks - 55+ min for food. ambiance: noisy / crowded. I had the penne with Italian sausage, champignons (lol) and mushrooms. $24 entree - no side. The mushrooms were from a can (!) , there were no "champignons" and the Italian sausage was tiny little premade processed meatballs. It arrived lukewarm. The sauce was lacking in any flavor - is it that hard to use decent canned tomatoes, fresh garlic/basil? Even the caprese looked an awful lot like Kirkland sliced mozzarella alongside some sliced tomatoes and their profit margin off that appetizer must have been sizable! The fare offerings seem authentically italian and are priced for fresh, delicious meals, but the actual flavor is not fresh or homemade, and the quality of ingredients is SYSCO all the way. The food must have to be prepared en masse to feed the large number of dining guests that the restaurant accommodates. They tout their "homemade" desserts, but after a most disappointing meal, we passed. will not return. There are much better real Italian options in Tucson that actually care about quality over quantity. read more

Let me start that I know Italian Food. My Aunt in Connecticut owned an Italian restaurant and a great Uncle and my dad's cousin had 2 Italian restaurants in San Francisco. And I HAVE EATEN A LOT IN 75 YEARS. So, for a Birthday special dinner, I looked for a new place in Northern Tucson. For over 20 years we have been happy with Vivace at the old and new locations. Dominick's, Bottega Michelangelo, and No Perche also have been our usual stops. So, this was our 1st time trying Caffe Torino in Western Oro Valley. I Made reservations which seems to be a must fyi. Greeting and seating were perfect. Waiter John was very prompt and also very Professional besides being very busy. His Service was great though. The Decor was upscale which was really nice, Booth was cozy. Bread was so fresh. Some reviews are like were we in the same place really? We shared the appetizer "Gamberi" which is Shrimp wrapped in Italian Bacon on a bed of Mixed greens. Scrumptious! My wife had "Salmone Alle" which was awesome, and half the serving is in our fridge this morning. Delicious. I went for the Veal Marsala. My wife had a few tastes. Thin slices and the sauce was the best I've ever tasted seriously. It was a great new experience for Tucson. My only let down was that no Birthday desert was offered for my bride.WE WERE STUFFED but would have shared. We will return for sure and maybe the Yelp ratings will get higher as they should be for them. Okay, a new update. Not sure how it's possible, but the T here has dropped in my ratings after my last meal. Look if you are a fan of Olive Garden and think it's the best Italian restaurant around, then the T is your most go. I had the linguini with shrimp, clams and mussels. Despite having chilis flecks in it, the dish was quite salty. I've had similar with the chilis and shrimp, clams and mussels but never one that should come with a sodium warning. This dish was swimming in butter and whatver else they use. Turns out the owner was the chef, which might explain why the dish in the past wasn't salty - because she wasn't cooking it. Then again who knows. The spouse had the bruchetta. She noted that the tomatoes didn't seem fresh, the bread dated and overall so-so. My ice tea suffered from loneliness because it never was refilled. The bread is a winner though. Hot, grilled and the balsamic vinegar/olive oil mix done well. I'd write more but I'm getting delirious from the salty linguini. read more

2.5 stars. This was probably the most disappointing we've been with the service and food. It's the first time we left Caffe Torino disappointed. Let me preface by saying that the food was good, for the most part. My party got there for lunch at 11:30 and they weren't very busy. So there really was no excuse. Our server comes over to the table, takes our drink order, returns with them and tells us of the specials. The corn chowder sounded interesting so I ordered that along with the portofino sans the spinach but with tagliatelle pasta. The soup I ordered was out. They substituted it for left over tomato basil. The bread was out, they gave us slightly burned ciabatta slices. The portofino comes out steaming hot, hallelujah, and was supposed to come with shrimp. I got a whopping three shrimp. . But worse is my mom's chicken parmigiana came out with ice cold rigatoni that looked like it was a day old to boot and tasted much the same. She had to ask for a side of the rigatoni. Thankfully, the side dish replacement was fresher than what was on her plate. Thankfully, our dining companions had no issues with their meals, it the most shocking thing was an extra five dollars being tagged onto the portofino. We speculate it was the pasta substitution but the waitress could have told me ahead of time. Not the best day for Caffe Torino. read more

This is a favorite of ours and visit here quarterly. The food was so tasteful. We each had something different and all four meals were full of flavor and presented quite tastefully! Our server John was very astute at attending to our needs without being intrusive. Quite a skill nowadays! They were very busy, thank you to the amazing waitress. My wife and I had heard how great the Italian food was at Cafe Torino, it was our first time there, so we went and gave it a try.. We arrived at 5:30p after making a reservation online. We were seated promptly into the back section of the restaurant, water and bread were delivered. There was only 1 other table of 4 in our section. About 15 passed, our server stopped by and asked if we wanted to order drinks, so I ordered a glass of Merlot and my wife just had water. About 6pm, a party of 4 arrived, our server started telling them about all the specials on wine and appetisers for the evening. We weren't given that info, we could have ordered an appetizer for half price, oh well. Now time passed and was approaching 6:30p, the table of 4 received their food, and we were still waiting on ours, frustrating... 5 minutes later our food arrived with no apology from the server, except to ask if I wanted more wine, which i declined... Our food was very good, but the service wasn't. It will be awhile before we visit again, too many other Italian restaurants around Tucson area to try. read more

Brunch on the patio is perfect if you want plenty of physical distancing. It was nice and quiet at 2pm. The service was friendly and prompt. I ordered the Niçoise salad and my friend ordered the capricciosa. My salad was a-ok. The patio wasn't packed which I particularly liked. So far, the menu at Torino remains a 3. It's a-ok. Dinner for 6 here Saturday night - it's been a long time since we were last here! Easy parking in the strip mall lot in which they are located. The outdoor patio is protected from the wind and had a lot of space heaters. Looked pleasant out there, but a chilly night so we opted for indoors. We were seated in just a couple of minutes and the server took our drink orders, which were delivered rapidly. The menu is pretty good - nice selection of pasta and meat dishes as well as pizza. I opted for the tagliatelle with bolognese sauce. I would have liked to order the Osso Buco, but it was pork instead of veal :-( Prices are fairly typical for Tucson sit-down Italian restaurants. It took a very long time for our entrees to arrive, but our server kept us supplied with nice bread, EVOO with balsamic, so not a big issue. On the plus side all the dishes for our party of six arrive almost simultaneously - nice! My bolognese sauce was nice and rich, the flavor was excellent. The dish was kinda lukewarm though, like it sat under a warner for a while perhaps? The winner dishes appeared to be the more expensive meat entrees - the salmon fillet and chicken parm looked delicious and very substantial. Overall we were pretty happy with the evening, but nothing really wowed me. Maybe next time! read more

We ate here with another couple on a recent Tuesday evening. We have been here many times before and always had a good experience. This time we waited 20 min. for a glass of water and that only happened because we asked . The waiter came by 10 min. later ( so 30 min. after we were seated ) to take drink orders- again after we complained. It took another 20 min. for those drinks to be delivered, so we finally got a drink 50 min. after we were seated and after calling their attention to the fact we were waiting 3 times. Once the dinner orders were finally taken , they were served within a reasonable amount of time. We both thought the salads were excellent but the entrées were just average. I believe that most restaurants would have offered us a free drink to compensate for the poor service, but that was not the case here, despite two conversations with the hostess. We won't be returning any time soon. read more

I went here to eat the other night, but never got to taste the food, upon entering the restaurant we asked for a table of four she asked if we had a reservation and we said no we didn't then she proceeded to explain that all of the tables that were dirty were reserved. Which meant there was about five or six tables dirty. so I suggested that they clean off the table and would be happy to sit down. No she couldn't do that because they were spoken for so she said oh maybe I do have something and she walked this over to the door to the kitchen where there was a table and she wanted to sit us there. The only problem with that was that this table right by the kitchen was extremely busy and noisy and would not be a very pleasant place to sit so when I said no that wouldn't do we'd need another table. Why couldn't she clean off the table right over there, which was 5 feet away. She said she couldn't do that. This was the best that she could do so after some discussion with my group, we decided that we're not happy with this treatment and turned around and left and went to another restaurant. It seems to me that when you have people standing at your door that wanna eat and sit down, you would make every effort to provide a table of which there were many in this restaurant they just need to be clean, which would've taken less than five minutes, but for some reason, she wasn't interested in that solution which I find really irritating annoying and I don't care how food good your food is it doesn't you usurp the fact that you still need to be nice and cordial to people and it would've been a much better way to solve this. I don't suggest you go to this restaurant because you never know what mood the host is in and they may have the greatest food in the world, but you may never get to taste it. I don't go to restaurants like this, where people have a real uppity attitude about who walks in the front door. read more

Checking this place out for Sonoran restaurant week! We ended up getting one of each courses. All was great tasting especially the risotto. To finish off dessert I got a cannoli and it was delicious, it wasn't too sweet in my opinion. The atmosphere was nice and quite, enough to have a conversation and the lighting wasn't too dark. Met friends here...sat out on patio and asked for heaters to be turned on. Two had the arugula toast and two of us had the eggs Benedict. All meals were good but we all asked for extra crispy potatoes. She said not a problem and what we got were packaged potato cubes thrown into the deep fryer. No seasoning whatsoever and when we asked we were told that all the rosemary just floated to the top in the deep fryer. Other than that great meal! read more

Used to go to the other location and watched it go from very good to no longer in business. Tried this location three or four times and have never been impressed either by the service or the food. Service was lacking each and every time. Food has always been less than the other location and the last time it was just not worth the price. The bread tasted old and the lasagna seemed deconstructed and bland with the meat portion as a side. Really hoped that with the demise of the other location that this one would step up, not the case. Delicious, authentic Northern Italian food in Oro Valley! Whether it's panini at lunch on the covered patio or light as a cloud gnocchi for dinner in the original dining room, this place has been fantastic. The variety and quality of the offerings makes for a great lunch or dinner any day (except Monday when they're closed). Pizza was perfectly cooked with quality ingredients and just the perfect amount of char. A couple kids on the wait staff are a little green but they are learning. Bar tenders and other staff know their stuff though. We had a delicious meal in a nice environment every time. Highly recommend this restaurant for a great Italian dinner or lunch! read more

Food...A friend and I had lunch there, and were extremely pleased with our choices. I had the piazza Castello, which is a sandwich with Boars Head smoked turkey, artichoke hearts, provolone cheese, pesto on a ciabatta roll, and I tried their lentil soup, which was seasoned with a little bit of curry, everything was absolutely delicious. My friend chose the tilapia piccata, she said it was fabulous, served with Italian linguine. Service...was great, our server immediately came to the table with two glasses of water. It is a very hot day yesterday, I guess she could tell by the look our faces! Ambiance...was beautiful, with 2 bars and lots seating. I was extremely pleased! I will definitely be back and I will recommend it to anyone I meet that's asking me for a great Italian restaurant. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes. read more
