We ate here with another couple on a recent Tuesday evening. We have been here many times before and always had a good experience. This time we waited 20 min. for a glass of water and that only happened because we asked . The waiter came by 10 min. later ( so 30 min. after we were seated ) to take drink orders- again after we complained. It took another 20 min. for those drinks to be delivered, so we finally got a drink 50 min. after we were seated and after calling their attention to the fact we were waiting 3 times. Once the dinner orders were finally taken , they were served within a reasonable amount of time. We both thought the salads were excellent but the entrées were just average. I believe that most restaurants would have offered us a free drink to compensate for the poor service, but that was not the case here, despite two conversations with the hostess. We won't be returning any time soon. read more

CaffeTorino used to be one of our favorite restaurants when visiting Tucson. Four of us had lunch last week at Caffe Torino. Disappointed with three out of four meals. The shrimp pasta had three shrimp in the sauce! We ordered focaccia bread and it arrived at the end of our meal when we were finished. Service was slow and the wine was overpriced. read more

I went here to eat the other night, but never got to taste the food, upon entering the restaurant we asked for a table of four she asked if we had a reservation and we said no we didn't then she proceeded to explain that all of the tables that were dirty were reserved. Which meant there was about five or six tables dirty. so I suggested that they clean off the table and would be happy to sit down. No she couldn't do that because they were spoken for so she said oh maybe I do have something and she walked this over to the door to the kitchen where there was a table and she wanted to sit us there. The only problem with that was that this table right by the kitchen was extremely busy and noisy and would not be a very pleasant place to sit so when I said no that wouldn't do we'd need another table. Why couldn't she clean off the table right over there, which was 5 feet away. She said she couldn't do that. This was the best that she could do so after some discussion with my group, we decided that we're not happy with this treatment and turned around and left and went to another restaurant. It seems to me that when you have people standing at your door that wanna eat and sit down, you would make every effort to provide a table of which there were many in this restaurant they just need to be clean, which would've taken less than five minutes, but for some reason, she wasn't interested in that solution which I find really irritating annoying and I don't care how food good your food is it doesn't you usurp the fact that you still need to be nice and cordial to people and it would've been a much better way to solve this. I don't suggest you go to this restaurant because you never know what mood the host is in and they may have the greatest food in the world, but you may never get to taste it. I don't go to restaurants like this, where people have a real uppity attitude about who walks in the front door. read more

Food...A friend and I had lunch there, and were extremely pleased with our choices. I had the piazza Castello, which is a sandwich with Boars Head smoked turkey, artichoke hearts, provolone cheese, pesto on a ciabatta roll, and I tried their lentil soup, which was seasoned with a little bit of curry, everything was absolutely delicious. My friend chose the tilapia piccata, she said it was fabulous, served with Italian linguine. Service...was great, our server immediately came to the table with two glasses of water. It is a very hot day yesterday, I guess she could tell by the look our faces! Ambiance...was beautiful, with 2 bars and lots seating. I was extremely pleased! I will definitely be back and I will recommend it to anyone I meet that's asking me for a great Italian restaurant. I can't wait to try some of the other dishes. read more

Used to go to the other location and watched it go from very good to no longer in business. Tried this location three or four times and have never been impressed either by the service or the food. Service was lacking each and every time. Food has always been less than the other location and the last time it was just not worth the price. The bread tasted old and the lasagna seemed deconstructed and bland with the meat portion as a side. Really hoped that with the demise of the other location that this one would step up, not the case. My husband and I ate dinner here the other night. I had the pasta with chicken and mushrooms with my chicken pieces well done and he had the same thing, but with light sauce. You can also order the dish with no mushrooms and/or no chicken. My husband also had an appetizer Caesar salad and I had the Caprese salad. Both the appetizers and the main course food was really good, the wine was really good too, and the ambience was nice-casual. I don't have anything to complain about, except that the wait service was really weird. I kept having to ask for things and then get up and get them myself. One time when I had to ask twice for something that I couldn't get myself, the helping waiter brought me what I asked for, but she gave me a disappointing look. Also, on the menu, they have wines by the glass, but when we ordered a wine by the glass, the waiter said we don't serve that wine by the glass, and then we showed him the menu, and he went oh OK. Like come on? We used to eat at her father's restaurant downtown , which WAS EXCELLENT, until Covid hit and then he closed it down. She has another Cafe' Torino restaurant in Oro Valley, where she actually works at, and we haven't been there yet, but we will. This was the first time that we had been to this restaurant. We will go back. Hopefully, when we go back, the wait staff will have a better attitude and more attention to detail. read more

My wife and I went on a Tuesday, mid-afternoon. We ate at the bar and had the whole bar to ourselves. By the time we left the place was packed. We could see why. Service was excellent, food was excellent and they pour a good drink. My ossobuco was done perfectly and my wife's piccata was great as well. We shared a great dessert. The bill, while not inexpensive was certainly supported by the quality of the dinner and the portions they served. This was our first visit but we plan being frequent diners. read more

Went here for the first time tonight and I have so many problems with it. In no particular order: 1. We made reservations and they failed to mentioned the AC wasn't working properly when we called. So it was hot and gross. Probably poor ventilation too which certainly doesn't make the next point better. Oh, for the record we called to make reservations at a DIFFERENT restaurant a week or so ago and they warned us when we called that their AC wasn't working right. I appreciated that. 2. Both our server and another I saw were wearing "protest masks". Delta variant is going crazy right now, I'm already not thrilled/super comfortable about being at a restaurant but what I CERTAINLY don't need is a minimum wage employee who is wearing a home made mask with intentional holes all over it making a political statement. Another server was wearing a mask intentionally on her chin. A third server who was pregnant was masked properly. No apparent management on a Saturday night either. 3. The food was bland and nothing to write home about. I drank so much water because I was so hot that I was quickly stuffed by the food. I've had better frozen pizzas. The caprese salad was mediocre and my husband's pasta was over cooked with doctored up bottled sauce. 4. The hostess was very nice and attentive. 5. The bread was good. read more

Cafe Torino located in a small corner plaza, Cafe Torino is an excellent option in having delicious Italian food, one that will bring you back wanting more. The ambience was nice and upscale. Both indoor and outdoor seating with nice and friendly staff. We were met at the door by a nice lady, manager, I'm guessing who was very friendly and even took our picture before going into the restaurant. She was very pleasant and very hospitable, thank you for starting off our night in an excellent manner. We were seated and our server was another excellent gentleman, who was totally awesome. **we are out of town guests and Cafe Torino will definitely be a place to come back to again!** The cocktail drinks were made to perfection, everyone just raved about their dinner selections and how the taste was excellent, top quality! The food was good and the service was great. But they had no drink menu. Telling me you have a full bar leaves it up to me to dream what it is I want and that vision didn't come so I didn't get anything. That's a loss. Instead I just went home and made myself a drink. I feel this review is drink heavy. Their food menu had nothing but great sounding dishes, which in and of itself is unusual. So what happened is our large party ended up ordering completely different dishes, which again is rare. Overall the feeling was that the food was good. I must repeat the service was spot on. Friendly service and excellent food choices! Came for the first time and was not disappointed

Really really bad. First of all, I feel like it's never a good sign when an established restaurant doesn't claim their business on Yelp. This usually means they just don't care, in my experience anyway. Secondly, I understand times are tough right now. But it's a owners job to change with the times. You can't operate at the same capacity you did with a full staff, if you have less than half the staff. Not only is this unfair to customers, it's a terrible thing to do to your employees. Caffe Torino actively screwed their customers and employees last night. We arrived a little before 6pm on a Sunday night. None of the lights outside the building were on, so we thought it was closed at first. We were seated right away. It was crowded, but not full by any means. We sat at our table for almost 20 minutes before our server came. And that was after we asked the hostess to send him over. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Those arrived about 15-20 minutes later. During that time, our server never stopped back by. He was then sat AGAIN with two bigger tables. As a former server of almost 10 years, I sympathized with our server. They should be putting people on a waitlist instead of seating people when the server can't even get to the tables they have. I asked to speak to a manager. I was informed THERE WAS NO MANAGER THERE That explains the chaos. I couldn't believe it. I know times are tough for restaurants, but wtf!! Tables sat dirty for over an hour. The poor hostess seemed to be wearing all hats. Busting tables, bringing food, etc. Our food finally arrived at a little after 7. The gnocchi was soggy and disgusting. And cold. Think mash potatoes texture. The protein on top of our other dishes was hot, but the pasta and veggies were cold. So so so disappointing. And it's not like we would send it back after waiting over an hour. We left just before 8. Two hours for three people. Ridiculous. This restaurant will not stay open if this continues. Honestly, this is up there as one of the worse experiences with service I've ever had at a restaurant. And clearly, the owners don't care. I will never ever return to this place. The food was not good, and the service was unacceptable. They should be ashamed they left their employees alone, on a busy night, to deal with the chaos. read more

Food was decent... I would order take out in the future. We went for the first time & waited 15 minutes before we asked a staff member if we had a server. The server came over shortly after and was extremely kind & did a great job, however, waiting so long wasn't a great initial impression of the place. Food also took a while, but it was a Friday night so I do give them grace for that. The meal overall was tasty, I have to admit. But the restaurant was probably 82 degrees, and eating hot pasta while uncomfortably hot is not the best experience. Like I said before, I'd order take out in the future. read more

Came here with my husband for my Birthday. We chose to sit outside, they have heat lamps which was nice. Service was good. Which is always appreciated. They first give you some rosemary bread that is not heated, with plain olive oil. We then started with calamari for an appetizer, it was just ok, then shared a spinach salad that they split for us. I'm a salad person and neither of us enjoyed it. It tasted dry as if there was zero dressing, we had to sprinkle some olive oil on it to make it edible. My husband had veal that came with a side of fettuccine. It was $32.00 and not very good. The veal was also pounded very thin and not much there. I ordered lasagna. It tasted a bit overly cooked and had so much grease in it. They did give us a complimentary dessert. Tiramisu was tasty. Based on the food alone, we will not be back. read more

We went for my husband's birthday as we had been long time patrons. We hadn't been in a while but we used to go every Friday night. My husband was craving the veal piccata but was very dissatisfied. The carbonara sauce was bitter. I had the pasta scoglio and it had no flavor. With mussels, clams, shrimp and no flavor. Lacked taste, salt, flavor. It was bizarre for having that much seafood and it tasting like nothing. The pizza was good, bread was good with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Our server was friendly. Our server, Brody, welcomed us and recommended an Italian red, Montepulciano, which was perfect with our food--Chicken Picatta and Pollo Taleggio. We shared a delicious insalatta della casa. Great food and service. We will be back and bring some of our friends. Thank you! Four of us were at Caffe Torino on 5/21/2020. Amy, our server was exceptional.
