    I went here on a whim and we had the best Italian meals, with outstanding service and a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. Their recipes are from the longtime Tucson restaurant, Scordato's, and are authentic and old school Italian. I had the eggplant Parmesan and my partner had the Farfalle Bologna, both full of flavor with a zesty tomato sauce. We had their salads to start. My Caesar had a yummy anchovy-forward dressing but I liked my guy's house salad dressing even better. They are generous with their wine pours, refreshing in this age of barely 4 oz in a huge glass. Not them! Great selection of wines too. I got a delicious yellow and Italian cream filled cake with chocolate frosting - free on my birthday! SO delicious and so sweet of them. All our servers we encountered (they seemed to be helping eachother out) were genuinely friendly and talkative. I'll be back for certain to try their Italian sausage and meatballs.

    My first time ordering take out from our local Italian spot. We ordered penne pasta and sausage, fettuccine alfredo, and parmesan potatoes. Our to go meal came with bread and olive oil. Our favorite out of the two dishes was the creamy fettuccine alfredo. The sausage is a ground sausage with a sweet Italian seasoning flavor. The parmesan potatoes are potato chips with parmesan. Some were soggy and some crispy this may have been due to food travel time. Overall we enjoyed our meal and it paired well with a pinot noir. Cheers!

    Our first visit will be the last. We were seated and brought cold bread wrapped in a napkin and a plastic container of simple oil to dip the bread. We had to ask for silverware as the waiter seemed to have a medical condition or was under the influence of something. We ordered the world famous mushroom appetizer. The plate was very hot but the mushrooms were uncooked and cold. When we finally were able to alert the server, he was very rude and began arguing with my date. She was trying to show him the online menu that described the mushrooms as cooked. They were not. What should have happened, at a minimum was not charge us for them. However we were told to leave or they were calling the police on us for complaining about the food and rude server and waiter. Never again.

While waiting for my friend, Alex (Alejandro) came to the table and, with a smile, asked me for my drink order. He brought two glasses of water and then checked on me a few times while I waited for my (late) friend. He keyed in the password for the free wifi on my phone. When my friend showed up, we decided what we wanted to order and as soon as we set the menus down, Alex was there to take our orders. I told him that we would be there awhile as friend and I had some catching up to do. While waiting for our food, he stopped by to tell us that our food was just about ready. The runner brought the food. Alex stopped by with more water for us several times. He left us alone until we signaled we were ready for our tab. The place was busy but he never bothered us or made us feel like we should leave. The salads were quite good. My large portion of salmon was perfectly cooked as were the shrimp on friend's salad. We ordered the focaccia bread and it was warm, tender and was served with olive oil. All in all a great experience. A lot of that had to do with Alex. I'll go back, hoping that he's still there.

We ordered mocktails, as she's 17 and I rarely drink, and they were truly refreshing and delicious. Our server, I've forgotten his name, was tall, friendly and patient when I requested to stagger service, as it was a Sunday evening at 1630. The bread and oil was ok, calamari app was good, mostly tentacles and felt as if a third of the plate was just breading afterwards because we got the bottom of the bag from the freezer. For entrees, my daughter had the ragu bolognese and it was 4 minutes away from being al dente, the pasta was uncooked and tough. I wanted to send it back but my daughter said she would "just eat it". I usually get pasta or branzino, but this time I opted for the roasted chicken and it was the most insipid dish I have ever tasted. The chicken was boiled or sous vide and then given char marks on a grill, not roasted, not herbed, just charred. The au jus an overly salted corn starch thickened glaze. The broccolini and polenta on side were good and that's what I ate. The chef needs to fix this item or take it off the menu expeditiously. During dining service we felt bad for the several servers who were dealing with 2 screaming kids running through the dining room and out onto the patio. Several times bumping into servers with trays, the parents, cocktail in hand, barely did anything to attempt to stop them. As a restaurant, if something happened to those children, tray with piping hot pasta, it would be your responsibility, so next time kindly ask them to leave. It was loud and wrong and not the fault of your servers. All in all, I will have to take Locale off my list of restaurants to recommend for Italian food in Tucson, it was always the first place I recommend.

Even though the restaurant was open for business they did not answer the phone! Warning! I finally had my call answered in the evening and made our reservation and informed them that we were interested in the 'Cheese Wheel Linguine' as you are required. We were then informed while ordering that they would not be doing the 'wheel' due to 'callouts' that night. OK, so I tried to order (4) different bottles of Chardonnay and they were out of three of them. We started with an appetizer of 'calamari' and it came 'burnt' and like rubber. We also ordered their famous Caesar Salad and were never served. We then decided to order a pizza which was served to us cold, uncooked and doughy. The poor wait staff and cooks are not managed correctly and were well over whelmed with no help. I was informed that the restaurant has 'new ownership' as they were purchased by 'Flying Leap Vineyards' and have been recently having staffing issues, inventory issue's and the new owners have cut back on everything. They did credit us on our bill for the cold uncooked pizza and the burnt calamari that was not edible. Our waiter felt so bad but, as we told him it was not his fault we were leaving without eating dinner 90 minutes later. Flying Leap Vineyards needs to somehow overcome this type of quality and improve things in a hurry otherwise ' just shut the doors' and sell Wine!
