It tastes like tartar sauce and is extremely unappetizing mixed with warm cheese rav's . 0/10 do not recommend, would not ever taste it again. Caesar salad dressing. Listen, I love me some anchovy paste in my homemade Caesar salad dressing but this was way too much. And where is the lemon to brighten it up? 5/10 would order again if they brought out a small cup of their Caesar dressing to taste beforehand. Calamari. Husband got the calamari and said it was just ok, but definitely not worth the price. Too much $$$. Salsiccia pizza. Fresh, delicious, just severely lacking in cheese. A little more generous portion of that divine homemade mozz would be nice. 7/10, would definitely ask for extra cheese when ordering. Hits: Toasted rav's appetizer. 10/10 would get again, however when I look at the price ($18) and you only get 6 ravs plus dipping sauce (marinara and that horrendous wasabi ranch), it really doesn't feel like a good deal. Yes delicious, but $3 per 1"x1" square rav?? Too much money in my book. Tomato bisque. While not quite fresh, it was divine. The toast piece that came with it was rubbed with garlic and oil and grilled to the perfect texture and then partially dipped in the soup for playing, amazing 100/10 would get again, but this time request just a little more fresh basil. Highly recommend. Caesar salad. Though the dressing leaning too far into fishy tasting (too much anchovy paste), the overall salad was fresh, albeit extremely small for the price you are paying. Checca pizza. Warm, garlic olive oil as the base, homemade mozz and basil and tomatoes, all wonderful EXCEPT what monster in the kitchen is using chopped salad tomatoes as a pizza topping? Hideous. Looked like a circle k pizza, at best. Tasted great, except for those tomatoes - were they San marzano?? Overall, we would go back, but try different dishes. Ambiance was warm and friendly, service was not great. Hoping it was just a one off, but by the looks of the other reviews, it's hit or miss with the wait staff, which is unfortunate. Edited to add: We also ordered the tiramisu and the siciliani cannoli - very generous portion of tiramisu, cannoli are only three small 3" pieces. Well, not really sure where to start on this review? It was a very sad experience from previous visits.I will start with me calling all day (2) weeks prior trying to make a dinner reservation for a party of six for dinner on Sunday night. Even though the restaurant was open for business they did not answer the phone! Warning! I finally had my call answered in the evening and made our reservation and informed them that we were interested in the 'Cheese Wheel Linguine' as you are required. We were then informed while ordering that they would not be doing the 'wheel' due to 'callouts' that night. OK, so I tried to order (4) different bottles of Chardonnay and they were out of three of them. We started with an appetizer of 'calamari' and it came 'burnt' and like rubber. We also ordered their famous Caesar Salad and were never served. We then decided to order a pizza which was served to us cold, uncooked and doughy. The poor wait staff and cooks are not managed correctly and were well over whelmed with no help. I was informed that the restaurant has 'new ownership' as they were purchased by 'Flying Leap Vineyards' and have been recently having staffing issues, inventory issue's and the new owners have cut back on everything. They did credit us on our bill for the cold uncooked pizza and the burnt calamari that was not edible. Our waiter felt so bad but, as we told him it was not his fault we were leaving without eating dinner 90 minutes later. I ordered their famous flaming cheese wheel without any protein. OMG super flavorful, nutty, creamy. I think it will go very well with shrimp. We came here for our Anniversary dinner. Everything was fine, until it took them about 35 mins to get our main entrees out! I ordered the toasted cheese ravioli & my husband had lasagna. Mine was toasted a little too much & I thght the seasoning was a little much! My husband's lasagna was quite tasty! I also had the ceasar salad which was good too! I have had a coin to come here for a couple months (iykyk ) but just did dinner tonight since with my minor, buzzkill child. We spent summer in Italy and I became obsessed with the pizza there, so when found out vero amore was only place to have Italian certificate of authenticity in all of Tucson, had to go. Plus, cheese wheel! We had a very nice server, who made good suggestions and made sure timing of food was perfect. The cheese wheel was manned buy a guy who's name I have forgotten (Patrick?) who was great. He encourages pictures and videos and. Questions and was very engaging while he made our delicious dish. And the pizza was legit. You could smell the basil it was fresh. We enjoyed the toasted ravioli appetizer too, although I thought the Caesar salad dressing was only so so. Great desserts of panna cotta and the sea salt caramel gelato is some of best I have had. We tried Vero Amore for the first time the other night, and were very happy with our meal there! It's a surprisingly cozy space, combining elements of vintage decor with more modern touches. The open kitchen also means it smells delicious immediately upon entry. We started with cocktails: both the Boulevardier and the Pomegranate Spritz were delicious! I'd definitely get either one again. The Pomegranate Spritz was very tart and refreshing; I'd love sipping one outside when the weather is moderate. We also got the Wood-Fired Bread, which is a must, in my opinion. The round loaf came out steaming hot, and the airy bread was perfect dipped in olive oil or slathered with herb butter. For our entrees, we got the Pasta Pomodoro (bowtie pasta with tomato, basil, garlic, and white wine) with added chicken, and the Mediterranean Pasta (bowtie pasta with sundried tomatoes, pine nuts, Kalamata olives, and grilled chicken in a creamy pesto, topped with Gorgonzola). The Pomodoro was a nice, lighter summery dish with a strong garlic presence (not a bad thing!). The Mediterranean was a little heavier due to the cream sauce, but the olives and tomatoes provided bright hits of salt and acid. Service was good overall, though perhaps on the slow side. I have been wanting to try this restaurant for quite some time. Made a reservation for the fettuccini alfredo cheese wheel experience, which they only take by phone for Thursday-Sundays. It was pretty neat, but I will say it does cost $32 per person, which they do not ever tell you until you get the final bill. Tried the smoky mule cocktail that was good, but the drinks were around $12-$15 each. The wood-fired bread appetizer had a fresh herb butter that I would highly recommended. Overall, the food and customer service were both amazing, so it was worth the cost to me! The only downside to the ambiance was just how loud the restaurant was. Every table was trying to talk over each other. It would have been nice if they had the outside patio open. Additionally, there is supposed to be a hidden speakeasy bar inside the restaurant somewhere that is reservations only and there was a live band just outside in the plaza. read more

Recently went in on the weekend to try the pasta wheel pasta which is Alfredo! The only disappointing part was that they lost our reservation and I was worried we wouldn't get the pasta wheel. However they still got us sat in time and served. I added shrimp to my pasta wheel experience and it was so so good. It's big enough you could split it and I wish I would've because the leftovers weren't as good the next day. Loved the calamari and bread appetizer. 3rd time I have tried this place. Consistency is key. If you have crap service when there are only a few tables in the place and they charge a service fee if a party or 6 or more, you should provide service. Refill teas, provide any service. Yeah, I'm bitter about paying a service fee for no water or tea refill and asking for a box 6 times. Came here for lunch based on the Neopolitan style pizza. When you walk in its a very inviting open area. We were seated quickly and got our drinks. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in on us frequently. We order the bruschetta that was great, about the only downside to it was the thickness of the bread. We got a pizza that I'm not even going to try and spell but it had prosciutto, mushrooms that were brined, kalamatta olives and nice chunks of mozzarella cheese as a true Neopolitan pizza should. I'll start from the beginning. This is my second time in. The first time I was less than impressed but will always give a restaurant a second shot. The overall service is very mediocre, took awhile to be seated and to get a drink menu, I can deal with that as many restaurants are short staffed but when it does come time to order a drink and they are out of the first two beers and three different wines we attempted to order that is not good. The food is average at best so drinks and service need to be better. Then when we went to pay we were told they don't want to accept cash and if we give cash they won't give change. We ordered the Garlic Cheese bread for an app and it was good. I order a glass of wine which did not get to the table until after the entrees. We received our entrees which were ok, we order the Chicken Mimosa and we also ordered the Margarita pizza. Both were good but I was not overly impressed. I ate lunch here (a full size salad) with 1 friend on Saturday 2/28/2026 and with a group of 6 other ladies (gluten free Ruspante pizza) on Monday, 4/27/2026 . On the first date, service was extremely slow despite there being only a few other patrons and my salad was 95% lettuce with very few of the other ingredients. My friend was also not impressed with her order. Was not worth the prices. On the second date, my pizza was very leanly topped and the crust quite soggy. Only one of the other ladies thought her food was good (mussels) and one sent back her entree because it was barely warm. The second one was only slightly better. I actually went to a holiday event on a Thursday evening catered by Vero Amore and went with some friends Friday evening. We are all retired so we set our reservation for 4pm. It was busy but it picked up as we were leaving. This is the review for the dine-in experience. The staff was very helpful and attentive. Since we have 10, we had called ahead a few days before and they setup the tables together for us. All of the staff treated us all well like we were celebrities. I decided to try the Chicken Marsala (see attached picture). It came with noodles on the side. The Marsala wine definitely came through. It was stronger than I was used too, but not too overpowering for me. If you are not a wine drinker, it could be. I really enjoyed it though. I was surprised there was no bread or salad, just the entree. My friends had different dishes and commented on the same thing. At several of the italian places were we frequent, the portions are much larger. While I was not still hungry, I was not completely full either. Others commented similarly. Had a wonderful family lunch here. Our server Noah was wonderful. Very attentive and answered all of our questions. Restaurant is nicely decorated and very comfortable. The food was cooked wonderfully. We loved the toasted ravioli and the meatball appetizer. Three of us had chicken dishes and in all of them the chicken was very tender. I was able to sample the two dishes I didn't order. I really enjoyed the bite of the chicken parmesan. My dish the marsala was flavorful and tender. I've been a fan of Vero Amore since their first location (near the Basha's Shopping Center at Swan and Fort Lowell). They had a limited menu, but everything they served was great. Over the years I've gone to the temporary location while they built out their current location. I've always loved the food and service at their current location until my last two visits. Everything has changed in 2026. The phone rang non-stop and was never answered when I wanted to make a reservation. The food was not good (calamari was too salty. Pizza had less sausage & cheese than it usually had. Prices had increased exponentially) Bathroom was dirty. Service was slow. It used to be my go-to place to take visitors. Dinner last night, four of us, we usually meet here because we've always loved Vero, and it's halved way between where our friends live! first menu states calamari is, "lightly" battered, great just as it should be! when brought to the table, it looked like a pile of grandma's fried chicken, HEAVILY BATTERED AND VERY DARK BROWN! ok, we tried it, you could not taste the calamari at all because the batter was so thick, and the amount of salt was way over the top, no one could eat that much salt, all of us couldn't even begin to swallow it! Calamari is supposed to be a very very light batter, much like a tempura! not good Vero! my black mussels in garlic and wine were also EXTREMELY SALTY, as a result I could not consume much of the broth which I live with the toast points they they serve with! One friend had spinach with her order, I knew she does not like it so I asked for it! You guessed it, SO OVERWHELMINGLY SALTED, I could not eat that either! I realize things are expensive today, but a house glass of Pino Grigio, which seemed short was $12.00/glass! I have been going to Vero Amore since I moved here in 2011, and I have never been so disappointed in what they served in 15 years! We went here today for the first time, trying a new place. It a nice little spot with lots of shaded outside seating, and plenty of seating indoors. They have a bar and a back room for special occasions, or private parties. It was really lovely! The hostess was kind and the waitress was very nice. They got very busy just after we ordered, but they both kept an eye on our table and asked about the food or brought refills for drinks. Mom really liked her Pasta Pomodoro, Dad enjoyed his Fettuccine Alfredo, both lunch portions. I got the Chicken Parmesan and it was delicious. I found out that they make their pizza dough and their bread dough, and they don't add sugar, so I will be back to try their pizza! My husband and I have tried going here on 3 different occasions with a reservation to do the Italian dinner with the Parmesan cheese wheel. Every single time we have booked, the cheese wheel experience is never available. The first time the shipment didn't come in (understandable - former restaurant worker and get that happens sometimes). The second time, made a reservation for the weekend of Valentine's Day. We get there, explained we have a reservation for it, then we're told it's not being offered that night. Again, made sense being it was Valentine's Day weekend and being understanding. Until another table ordered it and was able to do the experience. I spoke with the manager and explained it was disheartening considering we made a reservation and was told it wasn't even an option. So we booked another reservation for today, 3/29, well in advanced. Confirmed the reservation the day prior. We get to the restaurant, explained we have a reservation with the cheese wheel experience, and we were told ONCE AGAIN that it was not available. The food is great. But it's become a chore to try and schedule this when it's something thats clearly on their menu and they never have it available. I get Sundays are slow so the labor is not always cost effective, but don't offer something on your menu if you are not willing to deliver. There are better options in town for Italian, so this will be the last time we go back. read more

We've been here a few times and the food has been excellent as well as the services, however this last time was terrible-- we never even got our drinks! Earlier in the day we made reservations for 8:30 pm, we would have preferred earlier but the reservation site found no tables available before then. When we arrived, they could not "locate" our reservation, no big deal because the restaurant was pretty dead. The server was very friendly and got us waters immediately. Before ordering, my boyfriend asked if they were closing soon or something because they're usually much busier on a weekend night, and we didn't want to be the only ones at the restaurant. The server said not to worry, that he had three other tables that would be a while. So, we ordered two appetizers and about ten minutes later we ordered two cocktail drinks. About 20 - 25 minutes after we ordered the appetizers, the server came back to tell us that the side of the kitchen that made most of the food was closed, that they could only make pizzas. We were irritated, to say the least, and since we still had not gotten our drinks (ordered 10 minutes before) we left. We were very irritated, to say the least! We've both been servers, so I completely understand the restaurant staff wanting to close up early because it was so dead, but why not tell us as soon as we got there? The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired. The food came out warm rather than hot. The bottle of wine we chose was not available and when we chose another they argued about the price. It has always been our experience that when a bottle of wine is unavailable they will give a replacement for the price of the original request. Calamari was burnt and sent back only to have the second one less burnt. So sorry the brothers who originally owned it sold it to a winery in Sonoita. Will not return. read more

While I liked the sauce there was 3x more than chicken and noodles swimming in it, so for presentation it was sloppy and also same for eating. 2 chicken pcs and noodles were overcooked not al dente. Btw the garlic chicken on menu stated it includes chicken or shrimp but in the same line there's an add-on charge for ea? Asked Amelia, she had to confirm, but no protein included, so it's $26 for almost same dish with garlic and cream! Maybe worth it IF the noodles were house made and cooked to proper toothiness. Pepperoni pizza $15 was quite salty which hubby liked but could go easier on salt for sure as both the pep and fresh mozz cheese are naturally salty. Despite the wood-fired oven, pizzas come out blonde and floppy in middle. Definitely should take full advantage of the blistering heat of a wood fire and char the crust so it's crisp like true Neopolitans, and snaps when you bite it. 1/2 size Salads $7-8 were nice size, about 7" mounded heap. Both Caesar not overdressed and Garden with tomato balsamic on side were satisfying, fresh and came quickly. Best value however are the cocktails! $10 for premium spirits and a double pour on their Sazerac, served up in brandy glass.
