First, I love Bacio it is our GoTo on theater night. Unable to get reservations tonight, but we managed to walkin within 15 minutes. Staff are amazing and helpful, and kind. Some new staff, but they were doing great. Food was great. Love that they do theme food, no prices for Broadway in Tucson Theater. Chicken Picotta was great, a little too much liquid, Italian Hawaiian Pizza was great, a little burned but can happen with fired pizza. Second, gnats were very annoying tonight. Our table and the next were swatting every minute. Our sweet drinks, Lavender Lemon Martini and Manhattan were attracting them also bc the Manhattan spilled when presented. Eventually, a gnat got by. Just when I noticed my fork was still dirty. Staff were gracious and remade my drink and provided coasters to cover the drinks. The restaurant does have an open outdoor area, and that contributed to the problem. I think they used to have a blue bug fixture, bc I cannot recall prior issues like this. Not a pleasant meal swatting gnats off body, food and drinks. Not every second, but every couple of minutes. Hopefully this was a one off. We love Bacio and will be back. Stopped in here before going to an event at Centennial Hall. We made reservations for a patio table; we were seated right on time and the hostess was friendly and pleasant. The server stopped by the table relatively quickly and took our drink order. Drinks were delivered in a timely fashion, we ordered appetizers and the entrees. The server was also friendly and pleasant. The appetizers (meatballs and stuffed mushrooms) were brought to the table by a runner. We had no silverware, napkins, or plates, so we asked the runner for these things when they asked, "do you need anything?". The runner said they'd be right back, but it was about five minutes and no joy. The server stopped by when they noticed we were staring at the appetizers with no way to eat them and brought over the plates, silverware, and napkins. As we were finishing up the appetizers, the same runner brought our entrees. I had the eggplant parm and added a side of spinach, which was very good. My date ordered a pasta dish which was served luke warm at best. The flavors were good, but the pasta dish wasn't nearly as hot as the spaghetti that was served with my eggplant parm. The server never stopped by to check on us, so we ate it and was happy for our water as we didn't get an opportunity to order another round of drinks. To be fair, it started getting a little busier by this time, so maybe the server had other responsibilities. The space is enjoyable. The patio can be hit or miss if there happens to be rain, as there was when we were there, but we were perfectly dry out there. We did see the hostess try to seat another party at a table that was getting wet in the rain and they kindly asked for another table that wasn't so moist. The food was good. The portion sizes were decent and aside from the temperature of the pasta dish, presented well. It would have been nice to have been able to order another round of drinks, but the server stopped by to ask if we had a dessert after we had completed our entrees. We just asked for the bill, paid, and called it an evening. Overall it was a good experience not one I would seek out specifically to go to this particular restaurant again. read more

Ambiance was cute and clean. We were sat down immediately. Service was lacking on refills and temperature of food. Arancini was basically room temperature. Unfortunately, the same could be said about the fettuccine alfredo. We sent it back to be warmed up and the iron plate came back hot. However, the pasta itself was still room temperature and warmer in certain spots. Also tried to order an appetizer of meatballs but they were all out on a Monday night. The butter lettuce salad with crispy prosciutto, vinaigrette was refreshing and a nice portion. The tomato, burrata appetizer with prosciutto was okay. Visited Bacio over Graduation weekend. We were greeted with warm hospitality and prompt service. We had a large group celebrating my brothers graduation. The staff made it extra special whilst also meeting the various dietary restrictions of the group (some gluten free and some vegetarian). We had the tortellini based on the server's recommendation with shrimp and broccolini, it was delicious. My husband had a pizza that was perfectly cooked and the best of our visit. My sister was able to get the penne vodka gluten free and could hardly tell the difference. They also offer GF pizza as well. Started with some lovely cocktails- a great take on sangria and a peach Bellini for my friend. Both times I've gone here, I've had a great experience. Located in the busy heart of Main Gate Square, the vibes of this restaurant make it feel chic, classy, but also have a hint of casual. Pretty great Italian food that we found while driving through town on our way home. It is right next to the university so parking can get interesting. All the food we ordered was amazing. I really wanted eggplant parm but they were out so I went with the chicken alternative. I had dinner here with two friends last night. I ordered an Italian-Hawaiian pizza ($17). It was pretty good, and large enough that I brought half of it home with me. My friends were also happy with their meals, chicken piccata and Caesar salad with salmon. Service was good and the atmosphere pleasant. The meal was pricey for what I received. Food and tip came to about $26 and I did not order a beverage. I'm not sure this is a place I'll revisit. Seemed a bit steep for $20. I was satisfied, so there is that. The only issue was with the staff. Our server was more interested in talking with the other staff. She finally dropped off our bill, but went back to talking to her friends making sure to keep her back to us, so we couldn't catch her eye. She knew we were in a hurry trying to get to the show at Centennial Hall. Overall it was an on ok experience. But the price and the service will probably keep me from coming back. The only wait we experienced was for the bathroom, and not sure why as they are easily accessible! We started off with meatballs and the burata appetizer and both were incredible with flavor. Next was a Caesar salad and it is more like a chopped salad but really great in flavor. We each had a main dish of Fettuccini bolognese, Fettuccini Alfredo with shrimp and porcini sachetti and they were all very good with the best dish being the bolognese. I think that the Alfredo could use a bit more garlic and we really wanted the scampi on noodles, just my two cents on that. This is a front street facing establishment on a hopping street filled with college students. Lydia was our server and is a lovely waitress. We ordered the meatballs and mushrooms as appetizers and the eggplant parmigiana, shrimp scampi and salmon as our individual entrees. All, and I mean all dishes were flavorful, well seasoned and tasty. However, the flow of food wasn't well thought out. Meaning appetizers were served and before we finished those our entrees were served. Which meant they weren't hot when being consumed. Additionally, I gave specific instructions as to how I wanted my salmon cooked. My cooking instructions were ignored. I did let Lydia know. Upon arrival they didn't have the extra 3 people to my reservations. However they did accommodate before our other guest arrive. One of the orders of Chicken Parmesan wasn't edible because the chicken seemed so over cooked or maybe boiled before that it was super chewy, it wouldn't break down to swallow, one of the employees offered a new plate which was nice. Maybe a 3+, not a 4. Had to get pizza for my choir doing a performance at Centennial Hall. This was the closest. It was about the only close pizzeria that delivers, too, (through GrubHub, I think) but I decided it was only a 5 minute walk and I didn't want to spend the premium prices for the pizzas and the delivery. Their crust is really good, I liked it. They are also about the only pizzeria in this area that has a gluten-free option for crust! Go figure. All these pizzerias around the U of A and only one gluten-free option? Crazy. Toppings were OK. The pizza on a whole was OK. Pricey, especially for the size. Could be better. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. When Bacio first opened, they were a welcome addition of a locally owned resturant to University Boulevard. However earlier this year, they were sold to the same group that owns Gentle Ben's. I still wanted to give this place a try because I was hoping they would keep the original recipies that everyone reviewed highly, but it doesn't seem that is the case. It appeared some of their previous menu options I had an interest in trying were no longer listed. I ordered the Gnocchi with Spinach, unfortunately it tasted like it all came from the freezer section. It also seemed like they used dried garlic in the plate. At almost $20 per entree I don't think it's a worthwhile option. They did offer gluten free entrees for other people in my party, which I appreciated. The service was fast and their team was kind and attentive. Their dining room is spacious and has a really cool Modern Aquarian mural. Overall, there are just far better options for pizza and pasta nearby. read more
