This is situated where an El Charro used to be on Campbell and Prince in the Safeway shopping center. I love that it is open and spacious so you won't be hearing other people's conversations when you are seated. We were greeted when we walked in the door and were able to choose our table. You order at the cashier and then go get your drinks at the back of the restaurant. While we were waiting for our food, they bring a basket of super amazing garlic bread that you need to restrain yourself from eating too much as well as a bowl of pesto pasta. Warning: the portions are HUGE!!! You can easily share with two other people. We ordered baked ziti which comes with a sausage red sauce, eggplant parmigiana and chicken piccata. The chicken piccata came on a bed of pasta with 4 chicken breasts! I enjoyed the extra lemons on the dish so that I could infuse everything with more lemony flavor. The eggplant parmigiana was well prepared and tasty. It also came with a side of pasta. The baked ziti was well prepared and full of flavor. I didn't taste it since I don't eat sausage but my friend said it was delicious! The service was outstanding. There were employees being trained and they would frequently check on our drinks as well as ask if we needed anything else. I would like to see them offer half portions. Those would still be large but would be a nice addition if people aren't keen on leftovers or simply want smaller portions. We were so full that we didn't order dessert. We saw the cannoli and napoleons which looked pretty decadent. Next time!!

We've eaten at the original Nate's a few times, but found ourselves over by the new restaurant on Campbell. We were greeted when we walked in mid afternoon. They were not very busy at that time of day and everyone was friendly and helpful. You peruse the menu then go up to the counter to place your order. They have a drink station with beverages, as well as napkins, plates, silverware, to-go containers, etc. It's supposed to be a self serve area, but workers did much of it for us since they weren't busy. There are tables and along one wall is a long bench with pillows. They also have a nice patio for when it's cooler. The walls had lots of fun pictures and there was big band type music playing. The food is like at the original, delicious and humongous portions. My only negative is that they didn't have many low carb options unless you wanted salad and didn't substitute vegetables for pasta. We started with the pasta salad and garlic bread, complimentary. Then calamari for an appetizer--crispy and delicious with two dipping sauces. Got one meatball, a side of veggies, and the chicken/eggplant combo plate with linguine. So much food! One plate was loaded with the chicken and eggplant piled high. The pasta was on another plate. They are working on getting a liquor license so you could bring your own alcohol, so check before going. We enjoyed our dining experience and wish them the best with this second location.

I know you are eventually going to get a liquor license, but don't have it yet, can I BYOB in the meantime?

I asked while there. Nope. BYOB is a separate license they have not applied for...

We asked if they could bring it over next door to the Broadway, and they happily said yes , plus, they gave us a 10% discount! Great service, tasty sandwiches, and such a nice experience overall.

However, I have to give 3 stars for the overall execution of my meal. I had a half of a Hammer sandwich which was about $8. It's ham, soppressata, cheese, lettuce, tomato, banana peppers, dijon, vinegar, oil, garlic sauce. Unfortunately, I felt that my sandwich came with skimpy toppings. I got a pretty thinly stacked layer of ham and 2 little ovals of soppressata. The cheese was barely present. I also would have loved more tomato. I got a good amount of lettuce and banana peppers, though! Unfortunately, I just couldn't taste the meat and cheese toppings super well due to their being not much of them on the sandwich. The flavor of all the other ingredients were good, though. My friend got the Scramwich on Foccacia for $14. Looking at it, I could also tell it had not much proscuitto. Upon further inspection opening one of the halves of the sandwich... it was definitely only a few little smaller pieces of proscuitto. (The other toppings were on the other piece of bread, don't worry, those were fine) Sorry for the ugly photo - hard to really capture it without dissecting the thing. I also just noticed while looking at the photo again that one of the pieces of arugula also had black spots on it... Definitely not very fresh. My friend still enjoyed the foccacia, sundried tomatoes, and other toppings, but also felt there wasn't enough proscuitto. For the price, I would hope for a sufficient amount of meat. Heard a lot of hype about Quisty's and I see great potential in their quality and concepts! With better execution I'd definitely consider coming back. It's just hard to justify paying as much as we did for sandwiches that were skimpy on arguably one of the most important toppings!

Noon, on our way out of town moving her home, I made it our final stop. Should've come here years earlier. I had no idea of the longevity of The Sausage Deli until entering this place. I read the framed articles on the wall and learned how beloved they are. They mainly have sandwiches and are made to order, old school style. The sides are prepackaged in the deli case at the counter. I had the Italian Grinder, my wife had the Salami Sub and my daughter had a make your own sandwich. I had the sides of macaroni salad and potato salad. These sides were bland but maybe that's to compliment the flavorful sandwiches? I loved my Italian grinder and all the items inside it. The prices are fairly reasonable here and the service was great. You order at the counter and they call out your number when it's ready. Thinking back on my experience here, I don't remember seeing sausages anywhere....Hmmmm......Wonder why?
