The New Yorker
Vanessa S.

We ordered the Corned Beef Hash, expecting something similar to the photo on the menu. Unfortunately, what we received looked and tasted exactly like canned corned beef hash. The presentation and texture were nothing like the restaurant's photo. When we mentioned this to our server, she initially said that maybe the recipe had changed. We explained that the dish didn't resemble the menu picture and seemed like canned food. She then said she would ask the chef, and later came back saying the chef told her it was "homemade." However, it really looked and tasted like the canned version. The most disappointing part was that we were not allowed to return the dish or have it removed from the bill, even though it clearly wasn't what we expected from a restaurant plate. On a positive note, the New Yorker French Toast we ordered was actually very good. However, the overall experience was frustrating. On top of everything, a processing fee was added to our bill, which made the situation even more disappointing. Ordering a restaurant dish and receiving something that seems like canned food, with no option to return it and additional fees added to the bill, left us with a very poor impression.

Great service. They only have deep fried potatoes. No other options. No hash browns. No pan fried potatoes. Ugh. The over easy eggs came out ice cold. Like out of the fridge cold. They made another batch. One medium the other easy. But warm to hot. Corned beef hash was not crispy on the outside. Kind of soft and runny. Maybe because there were more potatoes than corned beef. Lacked flavor. The country fried steak was delicious. Gravy good. Biscuit. Pretty good. Pretty expensive for what we received.

Chicken and Waffles

Greetings from staff were friendly. Food came out in a very short time. Food flavored. Restaurant was clean.

If you're looking for the gold standard of brunch, look no further. This spot absolutely nails both the flavor and the presentation. Service 10/10.

Dropped into Toast 101 for brunch on a whim. We had a 20 minute wait, but the waiting area inside was nice and the 20 minutes flew by. The "Good-enough-to-go-back-for": Bloody Mary flight (Bloody Pickle for the win!); Irish Iced Coffee; French Toast with Cinnamon syrup; our booth. The "Skipping-that-on-our-next-visit": Chicken & Waffles. Loved our booth and will request it again if it's available. A note: Most people with gluten/wheat sensitivity/allergy might instinctively stay away from a place caleed "Toast 101." Even our server said something to that effect. There are very few gluten/wheat-free options. Even the potatoes have wheat. So keep in mind that the options may be limited to basically eggs, bacon and fruit.

The 101 Stack -strawberry & whipped cream topped pancakes

We decided to give Toast 101 a try last Sunday and were surprised how busy they were. We were after a simple breakfast but most of their items were their "specialty" dishes. We chose the 101 Stack which featured pancakes with whipped cream and strawberries. Our waitress, Da, accommodated my request for heated syrup (wish it was real maple) and provided an ample glass full. This dish really needed the syrup. We would taste rate the pancakes average for Tucson and filling given their ample size. Da was superlative in keeping our coffees full at all times and the coffee was a decent quality. She made the visit enjoyable. The ambiance was better than we expected from the outside view but the interior was somewhat crowded.

Veggie Skillet and Peach Mimosa

Great place for brunch. The restaurant itself is modern and open, they have lots of seating and booths (which I love). Their menu is huge, and they serve both breakfast and lunch options all day. Plus they have many brunch drinks, next time I want to try their pickle Bloody Mary and Cinnamon Toast Crunch shot. I had the veggie skillet with bacon, and my boyfriend got their cook try skillet. Both fantastic! Only thing is their wasn't much gravy on his skillet, but you can easily ask for a side! We will be back!

French Toast Flight

I'd never been before. We arrived 30mins before closing and initially took a little bit more time than I'm used to waiting. Nonetheless our server came over and because we knew it was so close to closing we were ready with our drink and food orders. Our food was brought out within 10-15 mins of ordering. The plating as seen in my photos was amazing and added to the overall experience. The overall taste was even better! We had the New Yorker, Nutella, and Crunch toast needless to say there were no survivors. Same with the bacon board! All in very decently priced too. Was definitely great food, great experience and oddly very different look and appeal from the inside out vs the outside in. Can't wait to go back!

A hidden gem within Tucson, 'Toast 101' provides freshly made meals that will leave you with tears of joy. I learned about this place simply by driving past it one day, and thought, "Let's try that out!" The exterior didn't seem that fancy; in fact, it gave off an old, family-owned vibe, but this made me hopeful. Sometimes, the places that don't look fancy are the local's picks for best food. This location is by Mission Plaza, Sprouts Farmers Market, & Banfield Pet Hospital. The parking lot also has a lot of space, at least in the mornings, so you don't have to be concerned with fighting for a spot. I have visited twice so far to have breakfast, with both times having nobody at the front to greet me. However, I forgive this because I also arrived very early, so there wasn't a crowd that required a greeter. Besides, the people that would be my greeter noticed me shortly after I entered and brought me to my seat. They handed me my menu and were very attentive to my needs throughout my stay. The seating is nice & spacious, with lots of booths for large groups. The atmosphere feels bright and there's music that plays, mostly old tunes like "You Don't Own Me" by: Lesley Gore and "I Love You Baby" by: Frank Sinatra. Between the two visits, I tried four kinds of french toast, including their 'Oreo Bliss, Fruity Pebbles Delight, Nutella Overload, & New Yorker.' I also tried two of their skillets, and of course, some fresh orange juice on the side. Every single meal was Heaven! The french toasts are especially eye-grabbers, as when my French Toast Flight was brought to my table, the only other guests at the time asked my waitress what I ordered. Each dish is so colorful, and hefty with syrups & whipped cream. You will be leaving there with a to-go box. Also, to note, I shared the flight (which contains three different french toast) with one other person who can down a lot of food, but I would highly recommend that you only order the flight if you have four people minimum at your table. The sight of it is super intimidating. The skillets were great as well; I really fought between a bite of the sweet and savory during my visits because they're equally amazing. The potatoes are crispy, eggs fluffy, & if you get one with meat, it's well cooked. Seriously, I would come here as often as I can to try their whole menu! I recommend this to anybody: singles, couples, families, young, elder. Anyone is welcomed except for those who want to manage their calorie intact, because I hate to say it, but you wouldn't be able to resist their wonderful meals and keep your diet in control. This is the best place to visit when you want to lose control, and that's what makes it so fun!

Bacon Board Trio

Just had brunch here with seven others around noon yesterday. After eating here, I'm surprised that the Yelp score is so low. I mean my party did wait a bit, but we were also a larger part so that's to be expected. You can pay with Apple Pay which was a welcome perk & they even rushed an order for someone that came way late to the party! The plates came out very appealing and my meal was delicious! All at the table agreed that they really like their meal. The only person who felt so/so about their meal ordered chicken and waffles (which I really believe should be a dish ordered at place that specializes in that- see Roscoe's lol). Anyways, I ordered the bacon flight which I thought was a great value with nine pieces & 3 flavors for $12. Though I must say only one flavor was really distinct, which was this sweet one that was drizzled in something... I can't remember the flavor. I ate one piece and shared the others... but it's bacon lol, hard to go wrong! I also shared a French toast flight with two others. This was $27, but comes with three large very well put together pieces of French toast! I don't think we have any other French toast like this in Tucson? They looked amazing! We ordered the banana Foster, the Oreo, and the New Yorker. I didn't try the Oreo and the banana foster was a little too dry for me, but I ordered the New Yorker one anyway, which was the opposite. It truly was perfect for me. Because I'm a big back, I also ordered the breakfast quesadillas which also I felt held great value of being $13 and incredibly stuffed. They were not flat at all. I loved this entree as well. I'll definitely be back!

Kids meal

I took my kids here on a whim to fuel up before an afternoon at Wild Katz just across the street. I knew they closed in about an hour, but we would be a quick in and out service. Right off the bat, loved the ambiance in the restaurant, it truly feels totally different than what you'd expect from the outside. It has a really fun vibe with great decor. We were seated quickly, though a couple that arrived after us was provided menus and served beverages before us. This always irks me...we were there first, we were ready to order, and were ignored. It seemed as though someone from the kitchen noticed us and came out to get our order, which I appreciated, they were very friendly and they got our order correct without writing it down (always makes me nervous when they don't write it down). The food came out rather quickly and was quite good. My iced coffee was so good I wish I could have taken it in a to-go cup! I had a classic breakfast of eggs, sausage, and potatos, and it hit the spot. Can't go wrong. My kids both had the dippin sticks from the kids menu and they loved them, they both cleaned their plates and said they want to come back again. Even though our initial service was delayed, I enjoyed the vibe of the restaurant, the location, and the food satisfied us it breakfast for lunch craving!

Dog food probably

If you don't like your dish, they will not remove your meal that you DID NOT EAT from your bill. Per their "policy", not only do you have to pay full price for the meal you thought was disgusting, but you will ALSO have to pay 50% for another meal if you want to eat something else. Do not go to this restaurant. The manager was extremely dismissive and disrespectful. The customer service is trash and this should not be tolerated. As someone in the service industry, and I was shocked that the guest experience doesn't matter at all at this restaurant. They want to take your money and they don't care if you enjoy your food one bit!!!! This tasted like dog food... I wish I was exaggerating hahaha

Our first time at Toast 101 and we were beyond impressed. Food was amazing! My husband had the hangover skillet and I had the Toast 101 French toast! We also ordered the bacon flight! Our server brought our food out really fast! And kept refilling our coffee and water! The decor was very inviting! We will definitely be back to try other menu items.

Gluten free options?

I never asked if there are gluten free bread replacement options but there are some delicious meal options, bowls, skillets, etc that are gluten free. I had a sweet potato skillet that was delicious.

Is there call ahead seating?

I think you can call ahead because the hostess told us there were some tables that were reserved.

In addition to the usual toppings, lettuce, red onion, tomato, and Graze sauce, I added grilled jalapeños, spicy mustard and cheddar cheese. I neglected to see ketchup on their toppings list due to order anxiety, but my burger and fries were so good, I didn't need it. The burger and toppings weren't overly juicy and the brioche bun didn't get soggy. I was really surprised how well the paper wrapping stayed intact and I didn't have to deal with any messiness. The fries were also really good. They remind me of fresh McD fries - the outside hot, crispy, and lightly salted and soft on the inside. I should have tried the seasonal shake which is peanut butter, because Graze's shakes look good and I'm a peanut butter fan. Hopefully, my next visit will be soon and I'll grab this shake then. Graze burgers are super good and am not sure why there aren't more than two locations.

Graze never misses. Ever…read more The Graze Double with sweet pot tots is my personal go-to and honestly... elite comfort food without the heavy, greasy regret. Every bite is savory, fresh, and somehow still clean. How is it indulgent and light at the same time? The burger is stacked perfectly, juicy without falling apart, and those sweet pot tots? Crispy outside, soft inside, and dangerously addictive. If you want something that feels indulgent but doesn't leave you in a food coma, this is it. 10/10. Always coming back - staff is welcoming and polite , I love. ALSO they have curry ketchup! It's just a must try and if you're a sweet tooth- the chocolate milkshake is killer. Provecho!
