The delicious shrimp poboy with equally delicious red beans and rice.
    Anthony S.

Still love the place, the vibe is still outstanding as is the food. Sat at the bar today and the BT was very pleasant and provided amazing service. I started with an ice cold beer which was well appreciated on a day where temps hit 100 degrees. For sustenance I ordered a shrimp poboy, with remoulade instead of tartar sauce, with a cup of red beans and rice on the side. Both were delicious and quite filling. Also was impressed that the owner actually comes out and talks to his customers. He even recognized me, and I hadn't seen him since he owned The French Quarter way back in the day. lol I highly recommend this restaurant, hell I drove all the way from the other side of town just to eat there.

    Delicious catfish

Four for dinner the other evening. They don't have a huge menu, but the selections are unusual (catfish, frog legs) and they are done so nicely. And the prices are not crazy, considering the quality of the food. I tried the catfish for the first time. It comes fish-fry style with more fries than I could possibly eat. The fish was perfectly breaded and fried, really enjoyed it. They have some nice pasta dishes which a couple of our guests ordered and really enjoyed. The service was good - our waitress got us our drinks and checked on us while we were having our entrees. The ambiance is a bit odd - kind of dark, velvet-backed seating, etc. I suppose to emulate the opulence of the French Quarter. Just be aware that it is not brightly lit. Great quality food at non-extortion prices. We will return regularly.

Hands down the best pasta I've ever had, no exaggeration. The drunken angel is creamy, savory and absolutely mouth watering. I'm still craving it. All the dishes we tried were so good. Our start of the charbroiled oysters was an amazing choice. They were perfectly flavored and served warm. The hush puppies were crispy but not dry, with a lil spice to them. My parents loved both their dishes as well! Highly recommend trying them if you make a visit to Tuscan! We were sat outside due to how busy it was (was still beautiful) but if you want inside come at an odd time of day or make a reservation. Our server was amazing too, very informative and attentive! Let us know all the specials and was very kind and warm!

The eclectic decor was the best thing about this place. My guy and I tried Guedry's Gumbo and added shrimp. We love gumbo normally, but this wasn't anything special. It was very peppery, heavy on the rice vs protein, and very unmemorable. The hush puppies it came with were really nicely cooked and had a good crisp to them. I enjoyed the gumbo only when dipping the hush puppies in them. For dessert, we tried the Pickle Berry Pie since we had never heard of anything like that before. Every bite was a punch of flavor and not in a good way. There was just too much going on and it became overwhelming after the 2nd or 3rd bite. Interesting to try, but I would not get it again nor recommend. This was the most expensive gumbo I've ever had and it was probably the least satisfying. Thankfully, I was not too hungry because I do not have high hopes for their other dishes.

This was our first time at your restaurant. The food was off the chain. My wife ordered the dish with pasta, shrimp, and crawfish. I ordered the Gumbo with crawfish tails, and hush puppies. And our server was very courteous and helpful. Sorry I forgot his name. And the restaurant is decorated very nicely. We were just passing through Tucson, but if we do travel there in the future we'll definitely come back again.

This was our first time at The Parish, but definitely not the last. We are fans of New Orleans style cooking so when we saw the Seafood Boil we had to try it. (Available on Tuesdays beginning at 4:00pm). What a delicious meal. We started off with the Oysters on the half shell. They were meaty and seasoned perfectly. Sorry for the poor photo. The decor is like walking into a French Quarter cafe without it being overdone. The booth we sat in was comfortable. Our server was Laura. She is a beautiful person inside and out. She was very attentive and knowledgeable. You can tell she likes likes her job and is interested in her customers having the best dining experience available. They have a good wine list, beers and a full bar. We strongly recommend The Parish. Maybe we'll see you there. We're going back for the fried Catfish.

We've been maybe three times now on various Tucson visits & had a wonderful dinner this time. Great server, Raymond, knowledgeable & around when needed. Cute interior, fun cocktails. Happy hour 3pm-6pm. We got the roasted oysters but were disappointed in them. They were not like roasted oyster we had in NO. They had some kind of a spicy creamy sauce which just overtook the oysters. Just this cream of mushroom soup-like quality, barely taste the texture of the oysters. (Go with the raw). I had the rainbow trout which was perfection, very very good. Husband had the gumbo with shrimp & hush puppies & he loved his meal--excellent! I swapped him a hush puppy for one of my potato wedges, and they were one of the best I've had. Chopped jalapeño bits & very crispy exterior.

The Parish Burger (demolished it), and cornbread. I ate it all. That all I have to say. Drinks are great. . You will not be disappointed.

I would and will justify my wife out here just for here to try a few things in the menu. Everything was dope. Thank you for the expertise.

This is hands down our favorite restaurant in Tucson. Loved the vibe and the service was great. We had the salmon and the shrimp and grits. Both dishes had amazing flavors and kept you wanting more. We would eat here every night if possible. A must when in the area! Love it!

Oyster po-boy and hush puppies. Delicious!
    Marion R.

I haven't been here in years, but we went there today for lunch, and it was so good! The oyster po-boy and hush puppies were perfect. My husband loved his Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the side salad. I had a bite too and it was crazy spicy, but yum! Love the decor-very New Orleans! Made me want to go on a trip. The service was really good too-our server kept that Diet Coke coming.

    Trout.... So tasty!
    Carolyn M.

Tasty food and great service! Loved the dark decor upon entering! Ample seating both in and out.... And busy! As a frequent solo traveler, I'm used to getting seated at the bar. And usually the service is ok. But here, the service was outstanding. I strolled in after a hike thirsty and hungry. This bartender was diligent in keeping that sparkling water flowing. She's a gem. Dinner was trout and it was delicious. Perfectly cooked. Sides were great, too. 10/10. I'll definitely be back and will be sharing this spot with my coworkers.

Shrimp and grits (one of the best meals I've ever eaten)
    Chelsea J.

Still a 10/10. The service is the best, the food is incredible. I tried the mussels for the first time and they were fresh, bursting with flavor, and the portion size was huge. I also got my favorite meal there, shrimp and grits, and learned you can split it between 2 plates and each person gets a full size of collards. There are very few tables so make a reservation because they're almost always booked up.

Fried catfish - thick fillet fried perfectly! Hush puppies were extra but worth it!

Outstanding food with quick, cheerful personel. This place has a happy, classy vibe! The restaurant was busy at lunchtime but it did not affect the service.

As someone who frequented this restaurant for the last few years, I had a firsthand look at how things were run, and in my experience management operated very unprofessionally. It ultimately pushed me to stop supporting this business, and based on those experiences, I can no longer recommend it. There are far better BBQ options out there. From what I personally witnessed, the owner, David, was consistently disrespectful toward employees and created a company culture that I don't believe deserves support. Also important to note that there is something up with the drains/ sewer system in this building and about once a week the entire dining room smells like a sewer leak.. gross

Pork shoulder dish: I can't remember the description but I thought some pork pieces were a bit bland, but the flavors were good. Steak: This is not featured in my photos but it's a steak dish that came with garlic potatoes and straw fries. My favorite parts were the fries and potatoes. The steak was bland and really could have used a chimichurri sauce. Duck confit white mole: WOW! Crispy duck with a delicious mole sauce. I wish there was more of this dish!!!! Malaysian curry with fried tofu: another incredible dish with lots of flavors, but it needed more curry to match the amount of rice etc. Roasted broccolini: It came with some sort of sesame sauce and coconut flakes and wow, I thoroughly enjoyed this dish! Beet cavatelli: another excellent dish. Overall, probably closer to a 4.5 here but I'll round up. There were a few minor things in execution of the dishes, but honestly, the ones that hit really hit the mark for sure. Drinks were all tasty as well! The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Places are successful because they stay the course and do what they do best. Today we went with the four meat platter, perfect amount for two people, brisket, pulled pork, turkey and sausage. With four side of coleslaw, mac and cheese, potato salad and cornbread. All meats are still sauced unless requested "on the side", but not so much to overwhelm the meat taste. Juicy flavorful pulled pork. Delicious smoked turkey. Brisket was just slightly dry but the sauce and nice bark made it enjoyable. The sausage was AMAZING, juicy and packed with flavor. Coleslaw in my opinion, could use a little more "wetness" but it was still delicious. What can I say about the mac and cheese and potato salad, people from the south, Texas to the Carolina's just know how to get it done. The "Texas Sweet Tea", if you are a diabetic do not drink, however this is a true southern tea, it's done the same all across the south, sugar with some tea thrown in. Four meats, four sides and two drinks with tip $50, not bad for two people, I've definitely spent more for food that didn't even come close to this. Once again Smoky Mo you did not disappoint. If you are a BBQ person this is STILL the best of Tucson. Get out and support this small local business!

I ordered a small combo plate of ribs and sliced brisket (sliced with the grain and not cross it as it should have been) and my sides were greens and coleslaw. I did not see the sign that said all of their meats were sauced, but if I saw it, I would not have had them put sauce on anything. As someone who smokes a lot of food, when I taste meat, I want to taste the meat and the seasoning and the smoke itself. The ribs and brisket were very tender, but all I could taste was the vinegar in the barbecue sauce. It completely ruins the meal for me because if I wanted to drink barbecue sauce, I would've asked them for a side of it with a straw. I did not taste the meat, I did not taste the seasoning, I did not taste the smoke. I also believe that if a pitmaster floods their product with barbecue sauce, they are hiding something. So I can't tell you anything about the meats other than everything tasted like barbecue sauce. For the side dishes, I got the coleslaw which was tasty and the greens. You can see the picture I took after I finished the greens and it looked like I had a cup of soup. I don't know why they wouldn't drain the water out of the greens. Since I was the only one in the restaurant, I was also surprised that nobody came up to me and asked me how the food was. They were all busy on their phones or talking to each other than to check with one of their paying customers if they were enjoying their food. The place itself, physically, I liked because it was a hole in the wall type atmosphere. I don't think I would've chosen contemporary hip-hop for my guests to hear. So that's it, I'm giving it two stars only because the tenderness of the meat, but definitely not because of any other flavoring I tasted. I also felt it was extremely overpriced for the portion size. I tried it, now I can write a review and know that I will never go back again.
