Solid spot for good food and excellent drinks Stopped in at Trident Grill recently and had a very enjoyable meal overall. The food was really good -- the burger was nicely charred with fresh toppings and came out hot and flavorful. The fries were crispy, and that big pickle on the side was a nice touch. The beer was perfectly poured and ice-cold, and the soda was refreshing -- exactly what you want with a meal like this. The atmosphere was lively with the football game on, but the highlight of our visit was our server, Thalia. I kept going back and forth between the Paleo Bowl, a salad, the Reuben, the clam chowder, and even the chicken tenders. I was coming in from Colorado and wanted to watch the Nuggets game while we waited to check in to our hotel and a friend suggested this place a s a great sports bar for a game. I feel like I have been here before many many years ago before I moved to Colorado but it felt like the first time because I don't remember anything about it. We were greeted immediately and the service was great the whole time. She was always checking on us to make sure our beers didn't get low and if we wanted more food. We had the chicken skewers with a Thai peanut sauce that was to die for. I could drink that sauce. It went to well with the tender chicken bites. We didn't order any other food, but based on that dish I would go back for sure. Good location and ample parking. It was perfect too cause it was the end of graduation weekend so the place was fairly empty. I'll come back next time I am in Tucson. read more

Maybe, but nothing compared to dining on the coast. You just can't replicate "from the fishermen". I mean the fish was very good. Crunchy batter and somewhat flaky cod inside. But they weren't fillets, rather they were shaped like giant fish sticks. You could get 2 for $18, or 3 for $20. Order included a huge side of chips, fried perfectly, actually the star of the show. Maryland Crab cakes were delicious! Best part of the meal. Fish tacos were swimming in coleslaw which I have never imagined on a fish taco. My husband ordered the fish and chips, substituting sweet potato fries. So that was a bust. Waitress seemed to not care and didn't bother to check on us. It was right after lunch so it wasn't slammed so not sure why she had the attitude she did. But the food was great, calamari was nice and crispy and cooked well, came with marinara and cocktail sauce, and fish and chips was amazing. Crispy and delicious and very meaty, and the burger. OMG the blue cheese and the horseradish sauce was perfect. Definitely my new burger. All in all food was great, AC worked great, had lots of TV to enjoy and was relaxing. Prices could be better, but the service is completely lacking. If that's one thing that will mess up a good food experience and that's poor customer service. Although we'd recommend the food, be prepared to wait and to get lack luster service. A really solid place to watch a game. It's a fun atmosphere with lots of TVs although not all of the booths are very well positioned to see them. I've been a few times in the staff has never been short of excellent. They are kind and attentive every time. The food is great too. The prices are a little bit towards the upper end of your average sports bar, but you will not be disappointed with the meals. I usually like trident but this location is worst in quality. I'm not usually one to leave a bad review but this experience was lacking. When we arrived it took 5 minutes to be seated- there was no hostess in sight. It then took another 5 minutes to be greeted. We ordered a simple dozen tenders and it look over 40 minutes to get them. Our server came by twice the whole time we were there. Once to tell us that our food was coming out soon and then we waited another 20 minutes to receive our tenders. The Trident Grills & Pizza Pub, The Original Trident on Speedway, has a subtle East Coast/ocean flare - but not for obvious reasons. (Is there an obvious reason for an East Coast vibe in the middle of the desert?) The original owner was originally from Maryland and wanted to bring a touch of the East Coast flavors and culture to his new home (which is well past 20 years). This was a recommendation from our hotel, and was a good tip. We were there the late afternoon before an U of A basketball game. The dark wood interior and raised bar, gave me that "local" establishment feel even though I was from out of state. The place was fairly full and the staff was quite busy. Yet the crowd was orderly and not too loud. The parking was manageable considering it was game night. We had their Fish and Chips, the smaller size of 2 fillets. These are Alaskan Cod with a very light and crunchy beer batter. The batter soaked up the malt vinegar quite well and still maintained its crunch. The cod was light and not oily. The fries were average in flavor, yet were still crunchy. The side coleslaw had the expected mayo based dressing, but lightly coated - not drowning in the dressing. We had the Kalua Pork tacos. The pork was cooked well - moist and had a nice chewiness to the bite. The pork flavoring, in and of itself, was quite good. We asked for dressing on the side, which was slightly sweet with a mild cilantro flavor. The dressing and pork paired well.
