Union Public House has become a regular spot for me and my girlfriend. We're there almost every week, sometimes twice a week, especially on Saturdays when there's an event, a game on, or something going on in the plaza. That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. For our weekly date night, we decided to watch a soccer match over drinks with friends, and it turned into a fun evening out together. And if you've made dinner plans, or just want to have some bar food while watching sports, Union does that too! What I love: Ice-cold, bubbly bottomless mimosas on a pleasant Sunday morning. Burgers (they make a good burger) with basketball on at Sunset. This is a great hangout spot at any time of day, and service has been consistently outstanding. What I also enjoy: The breakfast food sticks to the basics, but is done well. They make surprisingly decent pizzas, if you're in the mood for that. As with everything else in the surrounding plaza, it gets busy and there's often some sort of event out front, usually a market or live music. St Philip's plaza hosts a variety of restaurants in a courtyard where they have I've bands playing almost every weekend. it can get really packed so make sure you get there early like 530-6pm for a table outside but the inside usually isn't as full if you just want to eat or drink. Union serves American food with salads, soups, appetizers and entrees with a great selection of beers, wines, and cocktails. My favorite appetizers are the cauliflower wings and the mixed charcuterie board. Most of the entrees are delicious (tried most of them) and the servings are quite big. It's definitely a fun place to gather for fun, dancing, watch sports ,drinking, and to hear live music or dj. read more

Stopped in for a team happy hour, and it exceeded our expectations. The location is convenient, offering ample parking and plenty of seating, which made coordinating a group outing effortless. The happy hour menu featured a variety of enticing options. We sampled the Po'boy, the Cubano, the pretzel appetizer, and the chicken sandwich all of which were flavorful and satisfying. Ok, fair review would be 3.75 stars. I want to like Union. I go to Union all the time. Why? Space Dust on tap. One of few places here in Tucson that offers that. Service is great at the bar, and avg when I have been at the tables eating a meal. I use this place as more of a bar than a restaurant. Food is pretty good. I like their boards. The pickled veggies. The food here was pretty good, I'd definitely come back and try some of the other items. We came through the front door and no one was at the hostess station, there was no sign to seat yourself or wait. My husband had to use the restroom so I waited, and still no one. I stood there for 2-3 mins until my husband returned. Still no one even asked or let us know anything. We decided to head to the back in order to sit outside. We ran into a server and asked if we could sit he said yes and he would get us menus. We sat and were able to order. There was an issue in the kitchen apparently and it took awhile for orders to be taken. The restaurant is nice, and the area around the plaza is very nice. We had a fun night out here with some family. The location is fantastic, situated in a beautiful complex that is even better during Christmas time. The food was very satisfying! I enjoyed the Pot Pie, and my dining partner customized the noodle dish with salmon (instead of the tofu), and it was very tasty. The kitchen definitely knows what they are doing. Plus, the drinks were spot on--perfectly mixed and a great complement to the meal. Fair warning: this place is definitely lively! I REALLY wanna like this place. The location is cute, the service is fast, and the happy hour prices are just right. The food however is a continuous miss. My friends and I went for Monday all day happy hour (happy hour only applies to drinks, not food), and ordered five different appetizers. Everything was bland. The fried cauliflower was breaded well, but the breading had no seasoning. You had to rely on the sauce you picked to add flavor. The mac n cheese looked decadent, but wasn't actually. It would've benefited from salt and a fuller cheese flavor. The fries and chicken wings were a dry, also needing the ketchup or ranch for flavor. I really don't get it! The positives first... we chose to sit at the bar so seating wasn't an issue; there was someone at the door that I'm sure would have seated us quickly. The bathroom was SPOTLESS and that tells me that the kitchen is also. Jordan was available immediately and offered us menus, water, and a great smile. We opted for a mule (him) and a fig-ure it out (me). Both drinks were really good. My bourbon drink was fabulous. My husband got the pulled pork sandwich which may be the Cubano with a hh name? He loved his sandwich and the side salad. He made a point of saying that the honey-mustard dressing was amazing, BEST he's ever had. I got the salmon cakes. This is is only negative. They were thick, we'll presented but all filler. There was no taste. My husband agreed. By the time I had confirmation we'd eaten most of them so I didn't complain to Jordan. As for service, I wanted to know how they'd respond to a non moneymaking issue So when I downloaded the app and couldn't get the charge to scan I asked the woman at the front and she didn't know but immediately found a Mgr who found a bartender who explained that they did the scan and she did. Me and my girlfriend came in for a nice brunch, the table was wobbly, that's just the start. My girlfriend ordered the basic breakfast with gluten-free bread. The bread was full of mold. The mold was on the top and bottom and it's obviously visible. So that just shows the lack of attentiveness to the food being put out here. My pot pie was soggy and oily. Overall terrible food. To add to it, our server gave us a 35% off discount. And when she brought us the bill, it was $53. I just gave her $60 cash and left. And after I realized not only did we not get a discount, but we got overcharged Almost $10. Her breakfast was $14. The brussels sprouts were $12. And my pot pie was $18. Make that make sense. I'm not one to be upset about bad food or service. But the fact that I was overcharged feels very suspicious. I hate being that guy that complains but this is unacceptable. read more

We LOVED Union and on our five day trip we stopped here three times with and without our teenagers. The vibe is fun, music got the thumbs up from the teens and the live music outside was awesome. Did I mention karaoke? We had dinner here on our last night which happened to be St Patrick's Day and though crazy busy our food was out quick, drinks good and we left happy. If you're thinking bar food it's so much more. We couldn't believe how great their pickles were on the appetizer menu, cold, crispy and the brine so good! We also had quite a few pretzels. My kids were a huge fans. My hubby and son ordered fried chicken dinner with garlic mashed potatoes and the talked about how good it was for hours ha ha. I wish they had some sour beer options or more ciders, but the angry orchard on tap was good. Definitely better than the bottle. Service at the table lacked and took forever to get her attention for refills, but there were other employee running things who did step in to help. Latest night we stopped in at the bar. Bartenders were great and friendly. We did witness a few people cut of and asked to leave, but it was handled well and there were no issues. I was honestly glad to see safety was top priority. Inside and outside seating is beautiful. The courtyard is shared with other restaurants, but it flows well. I wish they had a place like this close by my house. Went here with a few friends on Friday about 4:00. Since we got there so early it was not too busy. We were served pretty quickly. I ordered the Beef Stroganoff. It was alright. I prefer the wider egg noodles and the flavor was kind of lacking. There were plenty of mushrooms (I huge plus in my book). For the price of $28, I felt like there should have been more. I was intrigued by the Waffle Churro for dessert. Another in my party ordered it too. What we got was a Waffle Sundae. A much larger and much different dessert. Because it was our first time and there was no picture, we assumed there was creative license in the presentation. To be fair it was great and we shared with the rest of our party, but it was not what we ordered. The server did not come back to touch base so it was gone when he brought the check. I finally looked on yelp to see and discovered their mistake. I informed the server of the mistake and he said "Oh well, here is your bill." We paid it anyway and moved on. As we were eating dessert, the crowds started coming in. Because of the decor setup and the bar in the dining area, the noise level raised to a level it was difficult to carry on a conversation without yelling like everyone else in the bar. They do have seating outside. If I come back, I will be requesting outside to mitigate the noise. Nice venue. We were promptly seated. Salad was beautiful and well crafted, my friend enjoyed it. She also enjoyed the glass of wine that was recommended by our server. We also had the pork sliders, very tasty and nicely spiced, a pleasant surprise! The pickled vegetables "escabeche" was fantastic and not too spicy, a very well balanced bite. We went down to the union Saturday night for Rocktoberfest and we had a wonderful time. We got the appetizers, pretzel with cheese dips and bread with honey butter. We didn't got the brought sandwiches, which came with chips, and both had our share of beers. You are seated and they bring out water and they kept the water filled up the whole evening. The band called the dirt played which is 80s hair rock, and they are very good. There's a Mexican restaurant across the way that smells very good and we will have to check out as well. read more

The staff are always attentive to our needs whether it is food or water refills or just to check in. We had the fish and chips and they were delicious - not too greasy and not too fishy. Tables were full. There was a TPUSA, Charlie Kirk event attended by 700 people wanting service and the waitresses were busy working to accommodate all of the spaces taken up for dinner and drinks.
